They were by one of dozens of job boards where adventurers can grab a job and try to complete it for rewards.

"I see them" Sammy said excitedly as three women walked up. The first one was a black wolf named Gina who wore leather armor like Sammy but instead of a bow she had two blades on her belt. She like Sammy was 20 years old.

"Glad you guys did not chicken out." Said a rabbit named Mindy who wore a yellow robe but had a sword on her back and a couple of potions on her belt. She was the oldest at age 22.

"Yeah...I would expect the three canines to run home with their tails between their legs." Said a red fox. He was slim and wore leather armor but had a light wooden shield and a short sword. Her name was Katie.

"Oh, there is no way we will leave now." Hunter said "I can not wait for us to bathe in the glory as you three ends up as nothing but barmaids." The other two laughed

The two groups have been rivals since childhood and so far, it has been evenly matched. The girls were not able to match the guys in strength but were able to outsmart them in other areas. Now they wanted to see which group were better at adventuring.

"Now the bet is that we meet back here in a few months." Hunter said "The winners are determined by the amount of gold they got, completed quests, and value of the equipment."

"Sounds good to us." Mindy replied "I can not wait to see you guys humbled."

"We then we start now" Sammy said grabbing a piece of paper with a quest on it. It was a quest to take down a giant bear terrorizing a farm. The girls grabbed a paper going after bandits.

"Bandits?" Drake asked "What are you? 12?" he laughed

"Always got to start small first." Katie explained "Never know what they will have."

The girls walked away as the guys started moving to a nearby town of Ashland. A small town a few miles away known for their bonfires to celebrate the end of the week hence the name.

"Is this the place?" Sammy asked

"Yeah...I can smell the burning fires." Drake said as Hunter did not speak but entered the city. They looked around for their contact. They finally found the biggest building which held the mayor.

"Hello, you were the one who gave out the contract?" Hunter asked placing down the ad.

The mayor wore a fancy robe that was green and purple with a small gold crown over his head. "I am glad you three are here. Yes, a giant bear was terrorizing farmers. It ate a few cows and if you kill it you will get a 1000 gold reward." He said politely.

"Consider the creature killed." Sammy said enthusiastically.

"Great, and if you fail the ad will be resubmitted." The mayor warned

"I doubt it." Drake replied "It seems easy."

The three exited the building and headed to the farm where it was last spotted. The journey took about an hour and when they got to the farm, they spotted the farmer tending the remaining herd. He wore simple pants and a shirt and was an anthro badger.

"We need to talk to you." Hunter said walking up to him. "That giant bear where did you last see it?"

The farmer looked over the three before speaking. "To the east. There is a river and about a mile in is a cave. I think that where it is."

"Thank you." Drake said as the three headed into the woods.

"Well once we get the gold, we need to spend it on some new items and not these used ones." Hunter said "I want a better metal armor."

"And I need a better-quality bow." Sammy said "One with more range." Drake just rolled his eyes.

"I am fine with my spell book. I might buy some furs for winter." He said

They found the cave as it was large enough for the three to walk into. Drake casted a light to illuminate the walls to prevent anything from sneaking up on them. "Well shall we go in?" Hunter asked. The other two nodded as Hunter took the front as Drake and Sammy were at the rear.

They were as quiet as they could but Hunter's armor kept making a noise. After they gotten 100 feet into the cave the walls opened up revealing multiple passageways.

"So which way?" Hunter asked as Drake summoned a wisp to go through one of the tunnels. It came back a few minutes later.

"That is a dead end" Drake said about to summon another one when they heard a growl. The three turned to one of the narrower tunnels. "Well that answers that question on which one to take." He said in a deadpan tone.

Sammy grabbed his bow and an arrow and readied it. They then heard another growl coming from the tunnel they just came from then another and another. In all they heard 6 growls.

"They said just one...not 6." Sammy said a bit nervous. Behind them a giant feral bear walked in as 5 little ones revealed themselves too all growling.

Sammy fired a shot but the giant bear smacked the arrow away. Hunter charged at one of the smaller bears who charged back and tackled him. Drake fired off a fireball but it was not effective. Elsewhere the three women were sitting by the fire as the sun was going down as Katie was looking over the loot, they got from the bandits they killed. "That was easy" Katie said "Plus they had some good weapons and gold."

"You are right. 800 once we complete it." Mindy added "Once we get back to town, we should be able to get some better armor."

"Hopefully we can enchant them." Gina said as she was cooking a vegetable stew.

"Can't we add some meat to it?" Katie asked

"Listen I am a bunny. So, I do not eat meat. If you want to add some you can. Tomorrow we head back to town." Mindy said "I wonder how the guys are doing with that bear?"

"Knowing them I would not be surprised if they headed back with the tail tucked between their legs." Gina said laughing.

It was night time when the guys managed to crawl out of the cave. Their armor was damaged and slashed but they were alive. Hunter was missing a few pieces of his armor while Darke has slashes going down his robe. Sammy's bow was broken and one sleeve of his leather armor was gone.

"That could have gone better." Hunter said breathing heavily. "Our weapons did nothing to them."

"Good thing all they did was rough us up a bit." Drake said "And my teleportation spell."

"Okay so that quest is a bust. Let's go back and find an easier one." Hunter said as they made their way back to the city.

"This suck. I hope the girls lost too." Sammy said "And ended up captured and sold as slaves...except for Gina."

"You do have a crush on her." Hunter teased as they walked into the city. Looking at the job board they picked an easier job.

"Okay guys this should be easier. We are taking on a robber." Hunter said grabbing the paper "200 gold and a new set of boots for each member."

"Does it say where he is?" Drake asked

"Not really." Hunter replied "But he is on Carver Road which is about 25 miles long. He seems to be bold going after traders and some caravans that travel there."

"Well, nothing we can't handle." Sammy said enthusiastically "Let's go down there and find him and brings him to justice."

The three cheered and high fived each other as they headed out to the road.

It was two days later when they got to the road as their supplies were low and they were tired from traveling. Little did the guys know that the road to Carver Road was hills and rocks. Meanwhile in the last few days the girls were successful at several local jobs. "Who cares." Mindy said giggling "I know we are doing fantastic. A few more recruits and we will hit 50."

The three guys days later approached the bandit camp looking through some bushes and staying hidden.

"How many of them?" Hunter asked as Drake was using a spell to see into the camp.

"About three of them...two are sleeping and the last one is cooking." Drake said "All look pretty pathetic. They are women."

"Great that means we can ambush them and capture them and take their armor." Sammy said as the three creeped towards the camp. Despite their best attempts they made quite a bit of noise as they stepped on branches and rustled leaves. Just when they were about to ambush the three, they felt swords at their necks. The three raises their hands in surrender as they turned and saw 20 bandits all females of various species.

"Look who we have here girls." a female deer said who was the leader of the bandits "Some lost boys in their underwear."
