Oh boy, here's another story that is coming.

Heh...

So... Last week, while I've been trying to rack my brain for a Halloween YCH idea to draw, however aside from short sketch style drawings,

I haven't been able to come up with anything that I wanted to do for this year...

So, in my frustrations, I started to think back to an old story concept that I had years ago and had remade into a comic chapter for my original Tales of the White Wolf series.

I had been toying with the idea of reintroducing it within the Ride of the Valkyrie series.

Then I got thinking of something I've read in the last month, about the "Red Shirt" Trope. I kind of wanted to avoid doing that with my story, but what I read does have a point.

(Read here, https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RedShirt )

So this story became an experiment of sorts.

while starting off it might not seem it,

but I'm going to try and experiment with some horror (Something I haven't really done yet) as well as toying with the trope of "Red Shirts"

One thing that I do hope to do is keep this short to like 5 to 15k words. its its own story though events might get referenced at a later date in the series.

The story takes place well after Ride of the Valkyrie is established and some of the events that has yet to be written are referenced in this, however, this story holds no spoilers for what I have planned for Ride of the Valkyrie aside from dropping hints as to what is coming (once I start writing it again)

One thing to note, this story has caused me to create a new character for this, (Usually its the other way around, that I create a story for a new character.)

I rather like how Minuet turned out. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yv2vg4wqtjktqpl/minuette%20.png?dl=0 (Base is the Halcyon Base by waitress)

“So...” One of the passengers started, obviously already bored with the week's journey on the Runabout. “Where do you think they'll post us?”

One of the other occupants shrugged in response. “Hard to say with us being out bound to the Artemis Terminal.” She said without even looking up from her data pad that she was reading from. “It's one of the few stations out on the rim of known space.” The Lykain who broke the silence in the room huffed in annoyance.

“I heard we might get posted on the LCS Valkyrie.” A third voice spoke up.

“The LCS Valkyrie?” The wolf asked. “Isn't that ship captain by a Caushae?”

“Yes.” The Caushae yawed out as she stretched out on the bench behind the other two.

“I think that I'd rather be posted on the Moon Hunter.” The other Lykain that was sitting at the table cooed. She was one of the five people in the Runabout's compartment.“I heard that the captain was hansom.”

“Is that the one with the Lykain captain who has a prosthetic limb?” The first girl asked, looking up for the first time.

“And tail.”

“That must be one heck of a story.”

The only male Lykain on the trip scoffed. “With all the rumors I've heard so far floating around about the MCRU, I don't know who would even want to be assigned to the Valkyrie. It has had quite a few unsettling adventures so far.”

“I-I wouldn't m-mind being apart of the Valkyrie crew...” The room fell into silence as everyone turned to the new voice. Now the focus of attention, the lone Mauluse Started to squirm in the corner of the compartment. How she wished she had kept quiet.

“Oh, so now she speaks...” Lykain male mocked. “Never knew what 'Quiet as a mouse' was till just now.”

“I-I just...”

“Kleo, behave yourself.” A new voice spoke up from the doorway. A tall human woman came in and walked over to the table and crossed her arms. “Or do I need to get a newspaper to roll up and bat you over the head with it?”

The Lykain winced. “That's not a funny joke...” Kleo whined.

“I wasn't joking.”

“But...”

“I'd stop when I was ahead Kleo.” A second male voice said from the door. “You're not going to win with Kasey.”

“But...”

“You want me to find a Sunday paper for her?” The human asked. Three of the girls snickered as Kleo's ears laid flat against his head and made a whimper.

Kasey turned and face the new person. “Oh come on Jordan, a regular Saturday paper will work.”

Jordan chuckled at the comment as he came into the room and went to the counter to pour himself a cup of coffee. “Well Kasey, I wanted to make sure you had something thick enough to get through Kleo's thick Skull.”

The Mauluse watched the interactions continue between everyone, very glad that the attention was off of her. She nearly jumped out of her seat with a surprised squeak when she felt a paw on her shoulder.
