Lovin' a Feline

Chapter 4: New Job

Falco and Katt were fast asleep when suddenly there were awakened by a loud beeping noise in the apartment. The feline realized where it was coming from and indicating she was receiving a call. The avian and feline looked at the digital clock next to her bed. The time read 3:27 AM. "Who the hell is calling me THIS early?" Katt growled, reluctantly getting out of bed. She quickly slipped on a pair of panties and nightshirt, and then went to answer the call. When she checked the computer, Katt saw it was from Slippy calling from Aquas.

"It's from Slippy," she called to Falco before the feline pressed the receive button on the screen. The male frog's image appeared on the screen when the call was answered.

"Hey Katt," he said in his usual high-pitched cheerful voice.

"Slippy," Katt groaned groggily. "Do you have any idea what time it is?"

"Huh?" the frog replied, confused. Then he saw how the feline looked and how dark it was in her room. "Oh! It's night there, isn't it? Sorry. I forgot about the time difference there. Here on Aquas it's the middle of the afternoon. That might explain why Falco and Fox didn't answer when I called them earlier. Anyway, the reason I'm calling is because I've found a job for us."

"What?!" Falco exclaimed hearing that and quickly pulled on his boxers and hurrying over next to Katt in front of the computer screen. "We got a job?"

Slippy's eyes widened at the sight of Falco. "Falco?! What are you doing at Katt's place? And why aren't you dressed?"

"Who's not dressed?" That came from a female voice that Katt and the avian heard on the male amphibian's end. Suddenly Amanda, a pink toad with a big yellow bow on her head and Slippy's fiancé, appeared on the screen beside him. It was the very same female frog that Star Flight had worked with.

"Whoa!" she exclaimed, seeing Falco and Katt. "What's going on here?"

"Well," the avian began awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head with his right wing. "Katt and I are... dating now."

Slippy stared at the two in shock, mouth hanging agape, while Amanda gazed at them in amusement. "Dating? You two?" asked the green skinned amphibian. The feline and her guy both nodded in response. "When did THIS happen?"

"Shortly after we arrived back on Corneria," Katt explained, leaning her head against Falco's shoulder affectionately.

"Oh," Slippy simply said. "I guess Katt that crush you had on Falco finally paid off." Amanda for some reason gave her guy a look of annoyance after he said that.

"Yeah it did," she replied. "Even though others told me he was a lost cause, to give up and move on, I didn't. And I have to show this more than ever especially with how some others treat me elsewhere."

"Oh. Yeah, that kind of stuff," Slippy said with a frown. He was just as much of victim of the kind of shit Katt, Falco, and all the others went through that the pink feline had raged about to Falco when getting back to Corneria. "Still I'm happy for you two. I'm glad it worked out with things like Fox and Krystal."

The avian in his heart felt a twinge of happiness. "Yeah and I actually don't mind at all." He wrapped his arms around his girl's shoulders to emphasize the point. She looked to him with love in her eyes.

"Well I think that you two look adorable together," Amanda said to Falco and Katt. "You're my new OTP!"

"Er... thanks," the blue feathered male replied, not sure what OTP meant.

"Does Fox know about this?" Slippy asked.

"Not yet," Falco answered. However, that thought made him start wondering, just how would that vulpine and the rest he knew would react to finding out that he and Katt were together? Probably congratulate them at most.

"Well I... OH WAIT!" the male amphibian exclaimed suddenly. "I almost forgot about why I called; the job. My dad has some new kind of tactical technology that he needs transported from his lab here to the Cornerian Army headquarters on Corneria, and he wants us to escort it."

"What kind of new tech?"

"He wouldn't tell me. He says it's top secret, but my dad says it's so important that a lot of bad guys would probably want to try and steel it, so he wants the best mercenaries in the universe to make sure that it gets safely delivered."

"Tell your old man he can count on me and Katt coming," stated Falco. "We'll be at Aquas as soon as we can."

"Sure thing Falco," Slippy replied with a salute. "Oh, by the way, there's one other reason I called."

"What's that?" the avian asked.

Before the said guy could answer, Amanda got up close to the camera so that her face filled the video screen. "I WANNA JOIN TEAM STAR FOX!!!" she shouted excitedly. Falco and Katt were surprised by this.

The female amphibian then continued, stepping back from the computer a bit so that Slippy could be seen again. "I can't see why I can't join! You've seen my piloting skills during the Angler War and heard about me from Nicholas when I was a part of Star Flight! I'll be a great asset to the team. Besides, anywhere my Slippy goes, I want to be right there with him from now on!"

The avian thought about this in his head for a minute. While it was true he wasn't leading Star Fox, the guy knew Amanda was right and she had helped them during the Anglar war. Hell, from what he had seen, she was already better in combat then her fiancé. Plus that would bring their team total up to six, not including ROB. "You do what you want and tell Fox," Falco replied. "I ain't the leader but even I can tell having an extra piolet will help."

Amanda looked ecstatic that at least another was on board with her idea so this had to work. Slippy then spoke. "We'll see you when you get here. Bye you two."

"Laters."

"See you soon Amanda," Katt added.

After the call ended and the screen went black, the pink feline turned to her avian to speak to him. "I never understood is how the hell Amanda's bow is attached to her head. She doesn't have any hair!"

"Maybe it's a stick on," Falco suggested with a shrug. The two of them then went back to her bed to try and get a few more hours of sleep. The avian however was deep in thought as the pink furred female cuddled against him under the covers. It was the fact with him stating that he and Katt were dating now. The male was surprised how easily it came out of his mouth. And Falco didn't mind saying it at all that Katt was his girl now. There was also the fact that now they were together there might be problems not just with others but her getting hurt on the job or worse killed. Still the male wasn't going to send her off. He knew that despite the dangers to this kind of life all he had to do was look at the relationship Nicholas had with Fara and Bill had with Fay. Despite what could happen they had stuck together just like Fox and Krystal. Plus Katt would probably worry about him just as much as he would with the feline. The avian then got a smirk on his beak and pulled her in close with his wings before falling back asleep with her.

After sleeping for a couple more hours, the couple rose up before Falco swept Katt off of her feet to the shower. She giggled and held onto her avian where they fucked again in it before emerging. After dressing and eating, it was off to their ships that were docked and waiting in the Corneria army base hanger. In no time at all these vehicles were blasting into the sky to dock at the Great Fox. The blue feathered male spotted thee humongous beautiful flagship waiting for them as it came into view. It's position on the horizon was perfect in the direct path of the sunlight that came from the sun of the Lylat, the beams of it gleaming and dancing on the shiny metal haul the ship had. Falco opened communications. "Falco Lombardi to Great Fox. Two requesting permission to dock."

A robotic voice soon responded. "This is ROB. Preparing docking procedures."

"Guess you go first," the avian said to Katt over the comm.

"Aw how sweet of you babe," the feline purred happily.

The two slowly glided their ships into the hanger bay opening at the bottom of the Great Fox. They touched down inside safely on the landing pads. Both then climbed out of their vehicles and walked away from them just as a mechanical crane lowered from the ceiling and began lifting the two fighter ships one at a time over to the launch area with all the other small craft the ship had, such as the Blue Marine and the Landmaster. Falco and Katt then spotted Fox standing next to his own Arwing in the hanger and to their surprise Nicholas and Fara were here as well. Krystal stood next to her vulpine and they all looked up at the approaching avian and feline. "Hey you two we run into each other again," the vulpine with glasses and long yellow hair stated with a grin.

"What are you doing here?" Katt asked.

"Well Slippy contacted Fox about this job and then he called us seeing if we wanted to help," Fara explained. "Miyu and Luna would have joined us but they were both too busy."

"Most of our team is," her fiancé added. "But hey two more paws to help with this."

"So how's it going?" Krystal then asked smiling at Falco and Katt. The blue furred vixen was able to pick up on more than just the vibes of seeing the other again. She could sense the love the two had.

"Pretty good," the avian answered. "Well then this job should be a piece of cake with Nicholas and Fara here. I know how two you are in the air."

"You know it fly boy," Nicholas shot back with a grin. "I've been dying for some action for a while now."

"Oh like you haven't with me in bed like last night," Fara said slyly to the male, her eye narrowing with love and lust. He rolled his eyes with amusement.

"Honey, you always want that ever since I took your virginity."

"I can't help it babe." Here the vixen wrapped her arms with love around his body. "I love you so much and we're going to be married. How can I not be with the perfect guy for me?"

Fox then cleared his throat. "As much as I know you love to talk about your vulpine we've got a job to do," he stated. Fara nodded but still held onto Nicholas who wrapped an arm around her.

"Just make sure you keep your head in the game," Falco told the brown furred vixen.

"Oh she can, don't worry," Krystal replied. "She's just like me when it comes to Foxy here..." Here the pure Cerinian hugged her vulpine with love. "We both can be that way with love but when it comes to work we can focus on it. Although... I sense you and Katt have something else to say as well. Am I right?"

The two did know about her telepathy skills and also that Nicholas being part Cerinian had that power to. So they figured they may as well say it. "Yes, it's some big news," the feline replied.

"Oh really?" Fox asked. "What?"

Katt wrapped her arms around Falco's waist affectionately and rested her head on his shoulder. "We're dating now," she said while smiling at her avian.

Krystal's guy looked at them in shock. "Is this a joke?"

"She's ain't lying," Falco replied wrapping a wing around her back. "Katt and I are really dating."

Nicholas was also staring at them. He had seen the two at that restaurant and suspected but hearing it was something else. "Seriously?" the long-haired vulpine asked. The new couple nodded. "When did this happen?"

"The night we got back to Corneria," Katt explained. "We went to a club and... one thing led to another." She and Falco grinned at each other. Nicholas and Fara had suspected since seeing the two at that restaurant. But they along with Fox and Krystal saw how happy the pink furred feline was and even the blue feathered avian was to. Both seemed a lot more so than usual. The only explanation was the male and female were banging so it had to be true.

"Wow so I guess this means we have another couple on board then," Fara stated.

"Yes, and it's going to be that way from now on," Katt said.

"HALALUIA!" Nicholas exclaimed with triumph. "It's about fucking time you two got together!"

There was an awkward silence for a few seconds, until Fox decided to break it. "Well, let's get headed to Aquas. We have a job to do."

"Well said love," Krystal told her guy. "Are we fully fueled and stocked?"

"Should be but last I checked and took inventory of the armory I think some of our weapons might be missing," Nicholas said. He had done so when first coming on board to be helpful. " I could be wrong. It wouldn't hurt to double check."

"Me and Falco can help with that," Fox offered. The avian shrugged but went along with it.

"Then why don't you Katt go up to the bridge and help ROB get us ready for launch."

"I'll check on some other things," Krystal commented. With that decided, everyone went their separate ways. This was fine as the three ladies being straight and loyal and faithful wouldn't try anything funny like what some others would make them out to be.

The three males went towards the armory but before they made it there, the long-haired vulpine stopped Falco in the corridor where they were and turned to him. "Falco, I have one thing to say to you," Nicholas said with an air of meaning business. "You better treat Katt right, better than any female before her. And especially how others treat her with all that horrid abomination stuff. And if you don't, I'm going to make sure there will be a price to pay."

Falco and Fox's eyes widened in shock as this threat was unexpected. "Don't get me wrong," the yellow haired vulpine continued. "I'm glad Katt ended up with someone like you. You better be carrying and loyal to her. I'm just warning you is all."

"Of-of course, Nicholas," Falco's managed to say still surprised by his sudden change of tone. Normally the avian wasn't scared of anything however if there was one thing to be fearful of was the long-haired vulpine's anger and wrath.

"I... didn't know you cared so much about Katt," Fox pointed out.

"Fox, of course I care about Katt," Nicholas replied like it was obvious. "I care about all my team mates, even the temporary ones and people like Krystal. That feline is like family and she needs true love from a guy in her life and Falco is the best choice. Plus all three of us know how much she wants to be with Falco in a relationship, a real one. It's what she needs; not what we've all seen of the horrid stuff of her out there along with my Fara, Krystal, and the other females we all know and work with. None of them are like that, just willing to fuck anyone or anything, even each other. They all deserve better than that including you two and the other males I've worked with."

Falco was surprised. He had heard Nicholas had this side from Fox but hadn't fully believed it. Now there was no doubt the part Cerinian really cared about the happiness of the members of each team even if he was devoted and in love with Fara. The guy wanted what was best for the males and females and that was true love and a relationship with someone of the opposite sex. After all never once had any of them shown being bi-curious or just a bunch of craved sex sluts and whores. "Huh, I never knew you to be such a carrying guy," Falco stated.

"Just one of my best qualities," Nicholas replied with a shrug. "In any case, remember what I said well. If not you'll get more than just a blaster shot in you."

"I will do so," Falco stated. "So, the arsenal?"

Nicholas grinned and waved a paw. "I was just making that up to get you away from Katt. Everything is accounted for." The avian nodded and the three males headed up to the bridge of the ship. Katt was standing next to ROB while he worked at the ship's helm. Krystal and Fara were also waiting here as well.

"Are we ready to go?" Fox asked.

"Affirmative," ROB replied.

"Take us out then."

"Affirmative Fox," ROB said again. "Detaching fuel tubes and docking clamps." The foxes, avian, and feline heard a mechanical clanging through the haul of the ship as it disconnected from Space Doc. "Firing forward maneuvering thrusters. Locking in course for Aquas. Course laid in."

"Let's go," Fox ordered.

"Engaging FTL drive."

The mother ship then began to blast out and towards the planet. To get there it used a Warp Gate to help travel very quickly to the targeted planet. As they were doing so Nicholas had a smile on his face. Falco couldn't blame the vulpine as it felt like forever since they had last had a job. Fox had a similar smile as well while Krystal sat next to her vulpine. Fara was sitting next to Nicholas as well. "Ready for this babe?" she cooed to her loved one.

"Born ready baby!" he replied, finding one of her paws and giving it a squeeze. The vixen squeezed it back in response.

It didn't take long for the ship to come out of the gate and everyone could see Aquas laid out in front of them in all her glory. "Such a beautiful place," Krystal whispered. She had not been here that much.

Just then a signal was heard indicating someone was trying to contact the team. "Who is it?" Fox asked ROB.

"It's Beltino," the robot replied.

"Patch him through."

Slippy's dad was then on the communication screen a second later. He looked the same as always. "Hello again everybody!" he stated.

"Hey there old timer," Falco replied.

"We meet again," Nicholas added with a grin.

"So let's see..." Here Beltino did a quick headcount. "Eight of you sure should be more than enough if we add Slippy and Amanda. And with what you have to transport that's a good thing."

"And what is it exactly?" Fara asked.

"Well it's top secret so I can't really say what it is. Just that's it's very important and a lot of bad guys will want to get their hands on it. That's why I asked the best of the best for this job."

"So that kind of job huh?" Nicholas replied. "Well can we at least see the container or whatever it is we'll be moving?"

"Sure, just a moment." Beltino brought up an image of it which appeared to be several large black colored cases with handles that could float above the ground for easy transport.

"Huh, don't look like much," Falco commented. "I know what was said about it but doesn't seem like it'll be too hard to get it to where it needs to go."

"Well see you guys so," Slippy's dad stated. "Thanks again for this."

"Don't thank us yet until we're finished with the job," Nicholas stated with a smirk.

"We'll see you soon," Fox said and then the call was cut.

The ship soon made it through the atmosphere and had descended down towards the landing platform where the pickup would happen. Everyone got off the Great Fox and took a look around. "Feels like forever since I last set foot on here," Nicholas stated. Fara was holding his paw while Katt in the meantime had her arms wrapped around one of Falco's wings.

"Hmmm maybe our honeymoon can be here," the vixen stated happily. "We haven't figured that out yet."

Her love and fiancé chuckled. "Let's focus on this job and then we'll figure that out later my dear."

Just then the group noticed Slippy and Amanda were coming to them. After exchanging greetings, the two frogs led the large group to his dad. They found him waiting with a few soldiers. But there was also another male frog with him. "Wait isn't that...?" began Slippy and then got a grin.

"You know him?" Falco asked not recognize the other amphibian.

"Know him; it's my uncle!"

Everyone else got raised eyebrows, some more so than others. "You never said you had an uncle," Fox commented.

"Yeah, sorry about that."

Beltino Toad and the new amphibian came face to face with the group. Due to the great family resemblance, the latter looked almost exactly like Beltino, with shared facial hair and need for glasses. But unlike Beltino, Slippy's uncle had a full head of black hair, as opposed to Beltino who was bald-headed. Also unlike his brother who had large square glasses, the new amphibian had small round spectacles. Also his skin was orange in contrast to Beltino and Slippy's green colored skin. The new amphibian's attire was highly elaborate being a white boiler suit with gold trimmings, a red necktie, and elaborate jeweled rings and gold timepiece chains. It hinted that whatever he did was either very profitable or made him wealthy. Like his nephew, he was wearing black fingerless gloves with fancy gold trimmings and like most of the others, this amphibian was wearing a space headband with a microphone for communications in order to speak to others through the communication systems used. "You made it, good!" Beltino stated with a smile.

"Howdy," the second one said. "Name's Grippy. I've heard a lot about you from my nephew and brother."

"Nice to meet you," Nicholas replied and introductions were done.

"So then, that's it huh?" Fox asked, pointing to the cases that were behind Beltino.

"Yes, they are," the said amphibian answered.

While the leader of Star Fox and Slippy's dad talked and discussed the details, the others began to load thee cases onto the Great Fox and make sure they were secured. Once that was finished everyone met with the two frogs for a few final words. "Okay now then the rest is up to you, but I know you guys will get this safely to Corneria," Beltino stated.

"Leave it to us!" his son replied.

"By the way, what do you guys know about The Eternal Halo?" Grippy then asked.

The members of Star Fox, Nicholas, and Fara looked up in surprise at that. "Mostly just rumors," the vulpine with yellow hair replied. "There's been a couple accounts after the Anglar War of them to. Some kind of powerful group or something."

"Group and powerful sounds about right. And apparently, it ain't no rumor."

"You're kidding," Katt replied as the pilots felt shock in their bodies.

"Then we had better get this to its destination before they get to it," Fox stated.

The team loaded the stuff they were transporting onto the Great Fox. The vessel was soon blasting off the planet and to Corneria. It was once again through another wrap gate and then seeing the destination planet. "Looks like we got this no problem," Slippy said.

Suddenly everyone felt Great Fox get hit by something causing those who were standing to stagger and those that were sitting to be almost be knocked out of their seats. "What the hell was that?!" Nicholas growled.

"Warning! Warning!" ROB stated. "Enemy ships detected!"

"What?!" Falco exclaimed.

"You don't think..." began Slippy.

"No time to think, let's show them not to mess with us!" Fara stated.

"Some of us need to go out there and deal with this!" Fox barked.

"Leave it to me!" Nicholas replied. "My time to shine!"

"I'm with you to!" Katt stated. With this it was decided the long-haired vulpine, his girl, the feline, and Falco would go out and take care of these enemies. If additional help was needed, Fox, Krystal, and the rest would join up with them.

The four who were going ran down the hallway of the Great Fox where the fighters were kept. It was then a quick trip down the tubes that would take each pilot to the cockpit of their ships. "Finally some action!" Falco said as he landed in his Arwing.

"It feels like forever!" Fara stated to her love as she landed in her ship.

"You and me both!" he replied. "And with our X-Strikers, this should be no problem!"

These were the starships used by Nicholas and his members of Star Flight. Having four guns on the underside of the main body, dark green colored wings that could do All Range Mode, and a silver grey colored body, it was a fighter that could stand toe to toe with an Arwing or Wolfen. And that was thanks to the G-Diffuser on them being very similar to the ones used by the other two types of ships. In addition the symbol for Star Flight was on the left part of the main body. It was a circle divided up into four different colored sections of very dark green, dull brown, dark purple, and dull red. Now originally the X-Striker had been a different shape and had six guns but thanks to modifications and losing two of those guns had improved the fighter even more. "All systems go," Nicholas said as the ships were powered up. The faces of those flying with him appeared on one of the monitors.

"I'm ready to," Katt stated.

"Let's do this," Falco said.

The four fighters were launched out Great Fox and came to life. "All fighters on me!" Nicholas told the other three.

Angling the vehicles up, the pilots flew their fighters behind the massive ship to see who the attackers were. "Wait those are..." began Fara seeing who the enemy was.

"The symbol on them; it can't be!" Fox exclaimed since those on board were able to see what the four could due to the monitors being in sync.

What they saw was a number of fighters roughly the same size as an Arwing. There were two different kinds. For the first type, the cockpit come to a point like a pyramid with the body being shaped like a long cube but with the top being sleek and at an angle to go with the cockpit. This starfighter had four guns, one on the left and right and two on the underside of the cockpit. The guns on the sides were attached to some kind of small dome like shape with lines on it. For the wings they were behind the main body with the top and bottom sections tilted slightly outwards. These were in greater numbers than the second one. The latter was slightly bigger and shaped much differently. The wings for this were behind the cockpit and came in towards the main body in a somewhat horseshoe like shape. Under these and attached to the main body were four guns. The inner most ones were regular but the ones farthest away were much larger that looked like they would fire missels and bombs. The cockpit and main body were more cube like but sleek and at angles to cut down resistance. And the greatest difference from the first starfighter was the front which was cylinder shaped with the main color being very dark, almost to the point of being black with some kind of cyan blue colored stripes. In the center of this were four more stripes all connecting to a small purple colored circle. These ships did have a symbol with the former having it on the front of the cockpit, the other on the right wing. However their color scheme was the same, purple for the main color, red for the canopy of the cockpits, grey for the guns, and the cyan blue for the accents. And as for the symbols these were in a halo like shape but had two points curving down colored grey like the guns. In the middle was a long thin triangle of the same color. In the middle was a black colored section with two red sections coming off of this like wings. In the middle of the halo like shape were four red lines, two on each side with the middle spaces being the same cyan blue as on the ships. And the rumors had talked about these symbols and meant only one thing. "Eternal Halo!" ROB stated in a warning. "Eternal Halo!"

"So they really do exist huh?" Nicholas stated. "No time to hesitate; let's take them out!"

"Here we go!" Falco said preparing himself.

"Lock the ships into the all range mode!"

All four ships went into that mode quickly. Even Katt's personal ship could do this. "Falco try out the targeting system I improved on!" Slippy told the avian through the communicator. "Katt's got it to for her ship!"

"Alright we'll split into two teams; Fara you're with me!" Nicholas stated.

"I'm with you all the way hon!" the brown furred vixen replied.

"Let's show them Falco," Katt told her guy with a grin.

"Time to swat some flies!" the avian stated.

"Fox you and the rest be on standby just in case and ROB, alert Peppy to what's going on!" Nicholas said. Lucy's dad had taken over being the General of Cornerian's army since General Pepper had fallen ill and had been confided to a sickbed during the Anglar Invasion. That old hare was aware of the rumors to and was sure to take action if need be.

The space battle then began as the Eternal Halo fighters engaged the pilots. Falco started by charging up his Arwing's laser to do a more powerful blast. Locking onto a target the avian let the blast go. It made contact with the first kind of enemy fighter and the ship took enough damage to spiral out of control and crash into another Eternal Halo pilot. Both ships exploded into fiery pieces of metal. "Good shot there Falco!" Katt told her guy.

"This targeting system's not too shabby!" the avian stated to the others, but mainly Slippy.

Meanwhile Fara did a barrel roll and fired landing hits on some of the first type of fighters as well. She then looked to the left and saw three of the second type were on her tail. "You see them love?" Nicholas asked her through their communications even if he was busy with the enemy to.

"I got this!" she replied and applied the brakes. These were exactly the same on the X-Striker like an Arwing. Her fighter went to a slower speed and the enemies pursuing the vixen shot ahead. With a blast of her lasers, Fara took them down quickly.

"Good work, now it's my turn!" her vulpine stated and locked onto his targets. "You're mine!" The male let loose with his fighter and a few more of the enemy ships exploded into fiery bits of hot twisted metal.

"Hey watch out!" Falco exclaimed. "Some are targeting Great Fox!"

Nicholas looked and saw a few of the second type were indeed flying towards the mother ship. "Cut them off Katt!" he told the pink feline.

"I'm on it!" she replied. The female flew her ship The Cat's Paw II in a sharp arc and down to the left to target them.

"Look out they're firing missels!" Fara stated seeing the enemy fighters do so.

Nicholas was just observing this and making a mental note. "So, those are bombers then huh?" he asked to himself silently.

Meanwhile the feline saw the missels being fired and shot at those first. The pink furred female was on fire and got each of them before targeting the ones that had fired those and took them all out. "I got them good," Katt purred happily.

"Great work there!" Falco stated with a smirk on his beak.

Due to the position of how Great Fox was when it came to her guns, the mother ship couldn't fire on the enemy as those were stuck facing forward. But those inside were watching the battle on the monitor seeing the triangles that represented the four repelling the Eternal Halo forces and so far it seemed things were going well. "Looks like they might not need help after all," Slippy said to Fox.

The vulpine was just watching with Krystal by his side. "It does seem that way," the blue furred vixen agreed.

"Makes me glad we have such a vulpine like Nicholas on our side," Amanda commented. "He really is a great leader and fantastic pilot. I bet he could take on a whole army single pawed!"

Out in space with the fighting Falco noticed that the number of enemy ships was decreasing. It didn't take much for there to be only a handful left. "I think we've got most of them," the avian stated to the others with him. "I'm going to mop up the rest of the fighters."

"Hmmm... it's odd," Nicholas then said.

"What is it?" Fara asked with concern. She could tell something was on her fiancé's mind.

"I just was able to sense the thoughts of a few of the pilots I just shot down. Despite being different species they all were having similar thoughts and feelings."

"What do you mean?" Katt asked since the vulpine's statement was being heard by all fighting against the enemy forces. No doubt Nicholas had picked this up with his telepathy abilities.

"They're not just focused on their job of stealing what we have, there's more. Even though we have never clashed with them before this I sense more than just hostility. I'm hearing and sensing thoughts and feelings of great hatred. Like they hate our very existence and for us being in love..."

"Wait hold on, what are you talking about?" Fox asked confused as hell like the rest.

Before Nicholas could go on further and explain, ROB cut the conversation off. "WARNING! WARNING!" the robot stated. "Warp signature detected!"

"More enemies?!" Falco asked.

Suddenly all those with Star Fox and Star Flight had a message coming in from the enemy and their face appeared on the screen. "How dare you stand up to the might of the Eternal Halo!" they stated. "Prepared to die!"

The one saying this was a black furred wolf and wearing a uniform fitting for a lieutenant with the Eternal Halo symbol on his right chest. On his left were what appeared to be a couple of squares in a couple of different colors to show ranking. The lupine looked like a nasty piece of work with yellow colored eyes in a glare and teeth barred in a snarl. Everyone then looked to see the warp gate opening and something coming out of it. "What is that?!" Fox exclaimed.

"Looks like the boss male!" Falco stated.

"It's time to end this fight!" Nicholas said.

The enemy ship then came out for all to see. Looking showed it was rectangular in shape with the corners being rounded like cylinders. The symbol the enemy had was on the front right part of the ship that was some kind of battle cruiser due to the size. There were guns on all the rounded parts of this ships and there were even more on the raised part that was at the top to serve as an observation area that was as long as the ship. It did have slanted sides. Like the other fighters, the color scheme was exactly the same. However the very front of the cruiser had a large magenta colored section that was square and looking showed it was some kind of force field. But one could see through it and see the ships waiting to be launched. This showed it was a main area where fighters came out. The cruiser had other sections just like it on her sides which were other areas fighters could come out of to attack. "Now let's shoot them all down for the glory of the Eternal Halo!" the wolf leader exclaimed.

"Get a read out on the enemy so we can take this thing down!" Fara told Slippy as she and the rest of those in space with her flew in to engage.

Just then Peppy's face appeared on the monitor. "Peppy you got ROB's message!" Fox stated.

"I've been alerted and can see what's going on!" the old hare said. "We can talk later, I've alerted some Cornerian Forces to spring into action!"

"Then let's blow this thing up!" Falco stated.

"Hold on, not yet," Nicholas said.

"Huh? Whatta mean?"

"I got a brief glimpse into the mind of that enemy lupin. And he's thinking the same thing as those in the fighters. It's only been five minutes but now there's questions I want answers. New objective; disable that ship and capture it!"

"So that kind of mission huh?" the avian stated. "Fine then..."

"Aw don't worry babe," Katt purred to him as they got closer to the enemy. "It's not all about blowing things up."

"Hey keep your focus up front!" Nicholas snapped to the feline.

"Enemy shield analysis is complete," Slippy stated. "Bringing it up on the monitor!"

Those in the fighters saw it appear on their monitors. They also saw more guns on the enemy ship pop out and begin to fire. "Good thing Peppy's not here, you know what'd he would say!" Falco stated as they all did a barrel roll to deflect the lasers shot at them.

"Heads up, looks like more fighters are coming out!" Katt exclaimed. Looking showed some were coming out of the magenta colored sections of the ship.

"Split up!" Nicholas told the avian and feline. "You two cover me and Fara! Honey, you're with me!"

"Got it!" the vixen replied.

The four fighters split up and Katt had to do a sharp dive to the right to avoid the enemy ships. "Tch!" she growled.

"Cut to the left, I'll clear 'em out!" Falco stated. The feline did so and her avian shot some down.

Meanwhile Fara and Nicholas were closing in on near the front. "Let's send a bomb or two!" he said.

The X-Striker was capable of using the same types of those like the Arwings. Locking onto the enemy ship, the vulpine and vixen launched the attack. Looking showed it was a direct hit. "Did that do it?" the female asked.

The light from the explosions cleared showed the result and answer. "No damage at all!" the male stated.

"It must have some strong shields; there's not even a scratch!" Fara said.

The same enemy wolf then came onto the screens. "Fools!" the nasty looking lupine stated. "You won't take us down with that! Is that the best you got? How disappointing after hearing much about you!"

"Wait, he's heard about us?" Fox asked now also wondering like Nicholas and wanting to ask questions to this guy.

"Enough! There's gotta be a weak spot!" Falco stated. "Everything does! It's what Krystal once said!"

"Here, I'll analyze again!" Slippy commented. He got started and Amanda helped her guy as best as she could.

Fara and Nicholas in the meantime fired at a spot on the ship. "No effect, maybe we need more pilots," the vixen suggested.

"Wait, I think I might have spotted something!" the green-skinned frog then stated. "Try firing near the front of the ship where the field is! If you damage that area enough it might allow you to slip inside!"

"It's dangerous but what other choice do we have?" Katt replied.

"I'm going in; cover me!" Falco exclaimed.

The avian flew his Arwing towards the enemy ship. The guns on it fired at the pilot who managed to do a barrel roll and deflect the shots. The enemy fighters began to close on him. "Eat this!" the pink feline stated and targeting them, fired. Nicholas and Fara flew in and helped her out as well.

"Hey Fox; see if you can take Great Fox and help us out!' the yellow-haired vulpine to the leader of Star Fox.

"Turning her around!" the other vulpine replied. The mother ship he had did so and when in position fired her guns at the enemy cruiser. Looking showed even this hadn't punched a hole in the shields. However it would be the distraction Falco needed as the enemy guns were now firing at Great Fox to in addition to the avian.

"Look out I see the enemy ship sending out more fighters!" Katt said.

"Let's keep them off of him while he goes for the shot!" Nicholas ordered.

"I hope he hurries because there's even more than before!" Fara growled in frustration turning her X-Striker sharply to shoot down some of the enemy.

Falco came level with the target. "Eat this!" the avian stated and fired where Slippy had told the group of four where a weak point might be. The shot found their mark and there was an explosion that could be seen. Meanwhile those inside the enemy ship felt it and staggered.

"What the hell?!" the one leading the attack snarled.

"Sir!" one of those running the ship exclaimed and saw something on their monitor. "We've just taken a hit and our shields are gone!"

"WHAT?!" the enemy lupine roared, not believing it.

"The shields are down!" Slippy stated as he checked the monitors on Great Fox.

"Excellent, let's target it and disable the ship!" Nicholas ordered.

"Time for a little payback!" Falco said.

The fighters flew in and started firing at the battle ships scoring hits and clearly taking damage but not enough to destroy it. The enemy lupine came up on the communications screen clearly enraged. "Damn all of you to hell!" he snarled. "You will all pay for this when they hear of this! You'll all be through; you hear me?!"

"Wait them?" Krystal asked.

Suddenly the enemy ship began to flicker like an image on a T.V. screen. "Wait what the hell?!" Katt asked.

The answer came to see the enemy ship was retreating. "Too bad; you failed to catch us," the enemy lupine said. He was still angry but at the same time the male seemed to have a small sense of victory about him.

"You coward!" Nicholas snarled.

"You may have gotten lucky but next time you won't be! You'll be seeing us again soon! And those whores with you will be shown as we see fit!" The enemy ship then disappeared, teleported to who knew where and lost completely on the radar.

"Damn it; he got away!" the long-haired vulpine stated.

"No matter, this probably won't be the last time we see them I bet," Amanda said. "There will be other chances."

"Still... what did he mean by those words?" Fox asked frowning.

"Yeah, I certainly didn't like them at all," Krystal stated.

"Same," Nicholas snarled. "Nobody talks about my Fara that way. Nor can anyone have her."

"Yeah same for my Slippy," Amanda said.

"And that goes for Katt as well," Falco added.

"Awww how sweet of you Falcy," the feline purred happy her avian, her boyfriend felt that way about her.

"Never mind that now, I'm contacting Peppy," Fox said and did so. A meeting was soon arranged to discuss what had happened with the old hare. But first came the delivery of the goods and the group managed to get that to its destination just fine. Then the ones that had done the job met up with Peppy in a meeting room to discuss what had happened. The old hare listened the whole time. When the explanation was over, the guy leaned back in his chair, just thinking.

"It's troubling indeed," Peppy said. "To think we might have another enemy after the Anglars."

"What worries me more is how the enemy knows of us and what's more what they said," Nicholas stated with a slight growl.

"Yeah I don't like it either," Fox commented.

"So... what now?" Krystal asked one of her paws on her vulpine's shoulders.

"Well for now all we can do is keep our eye out for any signs of them," Peppy stated. "We'll take the data from the battle to so next time something like this happens, we'll be ready."

"Yes, and we'll crush them next time," Falco commented with a smirk.

"But before that, there is one thing," Nicholas said and here he turned to face his Fara, his fiancée, and took her paws into his with a smile. "I think you and I need to finish up the last couple of things needed before our wedding babe."

"Oh yes, for sure," the vixen added, their noses coming together. "After all I think it's high time for that and also for us showing everyone you're the only one for me."

"You damn right." The two had a quick kiss as they were excited for this and very happy what was to come. The others were as well and at least this would take their minds off of the troubles for now.
