Read on, and enjoy. Can't be spoiling the story too much. Somewhat futuristic, but not.. 18+ mature content, of course.

Welcome to the world of Igfrabit. Igfrabit is a place where everyone lives at peace, and for the day at hand. In this world, we will see numerous characters of various races. Some will have hairless bodies, some with fur all over, others with scales or various skin colors. This time, we will focus on a single existence who shares features with canines; particularly what you would know as the American Pitbull Terrier. Enter Kevn.

Yes, Kevn. A rather "human" name, but most of the populace here does share human traits and cultures with our world, so many things you read about today might seem very familiar. Kevn is a Pitbull, and he is very handsome and well built, as you'd expect of a Pitbull, but also a bit on the short side. He never displays any aggressive behavior, and tends to be very docile and gentle with most people. "Most people" being the operative words. Kevn enjoys working out, and the occasional hook up with the ladies that are often found swooning over him. Today however, would be a very different experience for Kevn, where he would end up learning many things about himself he never knew before.

Kevn sat at the bar enjoying a drink, music blaring in the back, with a dance floor full of people enjoying themselves with whatever substance they fancied flowing through their veins; some were nearly naked and falling over each other. You had to be there to understand. The air smelled of sugary alcohol; it wasn't unpleasant, but it also wasn't to be desired.

As Kevn called over the bartender for another drink, a woman with purple scales arrived next to him. She was ravishing to say the least. Her dress left very little to reveal, as her enormous breasts flopped around in her drunken stupor. She caught his eye as he ordered another drink. "What a night!" she exclaimed, ordering a shot of something you wouldn't want to try to pronounce.

"Having fun?" Kevn responded, but she was too drunk to hear him over the loud music, or even notice him looking in her direction. All she wanted was to get drunk and go back to dancing.

She turned around, having drowned her shot within a second, and returned to her friends on the dance floor. Kevn was once again left alone at the bar. He was only on his third beer, but was starting to get a little bored and annoyed. Every week was the same for the past few months. He felt he needed something new, but unsure what that could be. He quickly downed his beer, and decided to call it a night as he lifted himself off the stool to take off.

On his way out, the bouncer called out to him, "Have a good night, Kev!"

"You too, Karim!" he shouted back with glee.

It was dark out. Street lights shone down. The air felt heavy and thick, almost suffocating if you weren't used to this place. Shadowy figures shifted about on their business; some were office professionals, while others were street professionals.

Though on the surface people seemed to get along in peace, things changed during the night. It was as if the entire world was turned upside down. Drunks passed out in alleys, people having sex behind dumpsters, drug dealers selling stuff you'd never heard of. Yeah, Igfrabit was nice during the day, but it was all really just a façade to hide the dark underground lifestyle. The world of Igfrabit was actually only about one thing... If you're alive today, do what makes you feel good. So that's what the people did, but some have very twisted pleasures. We won't go there. Tonight is about Kevn's experience.

On his way home, Kevn made the decision to take a different route. He needed to start somewhere to change the course of the rut he found himself stuck in. He decided to go down an alley he never normally took. It wasn't a shortcut or anything, just a change of scenery. This alley was unpopulated and dark. Or so he thought.

As he walked, he replayed some fun moments with the women he had slept with before, which was getting him quite aroused. He had a simple thought of stopping to have a quick jerk in the dark, when an apparition attacked him from the darkness. Kevn was no stranger to martial arts, he could defend himself against the odd drunk guy that threw a punch at him, but this was different. This "thing" wasn't just some drunk guy falling over himself. The air suddenly changed, you could smell the intent to kill emanating from this figure. He did his best to dodge and defend himself, but he couldn't keep avoiding the strikes forever. This was a fight or flight moment, and he chose flight to save his tail.

As he turned, every muscle in his body was ready to bolt, when a second apparition appeared to block his escape. This was it, they had him cornered. His only option now was to fight back.

Kevn threw a punch, but only air was struck. He threw a roundhouse kick, the same as he remembered when he was young, but again only air felt the swish of his foot. It was strange, this "thing" wasn't really avoiding his hits, it was as if Kevn's fists and feet were just passing through it. "What now?" he thought, as one of the shadows lunged and hit him once, twice, and a third time. Kevn landed on the ground, blood flowing from his nose. The agony continued as the shadows continued to barrage him on the ground incessantly without pause. He was about to lose consciousness from the pain, when someone new showed up.

The shadows stopped their attack to focus on the new figure at the end of the alley. Suddenly, the new defender rushed in their direction with glowing fists. If this was a comic book, you would see the sound of his punches and kicks, as they truly landed on their targets. Kevn could hear the commotion, but with how he was laying on the ground, he couldn't see anything. He was in so much pain with blood dripping from his face and body. He was about to pass out when the noises stopped. He heard someone panting, footsteps coming towards him. What would he do? He couldn't stand after having survived this invasion. Hell, he couldn't even turn around on the ground to see who his savior was. Suddenly, a pair of boots showed up in front of his eyes, as the person they belonged to crouched down to check on him.

"You're alive!!" was all Kevn heard before he finally passed out from the sheer pain and agony.

When Kevn woke up, he was lying on a bed. It was dark, but there was a dim glow that helped him see his surroundings. He couldn't make everything out right away, but could probably manage to stumble around the room to find a light switch or something. His head was pounding, ribs were aching. As he started moving about, he winced from the pain that shot through his body. When his paw landed on his side, he felt bandages wrapped around his abdomen.

"Oh yeah..." he mumbled quietly, as he recalled the events that landed him with these injuries. He was still confused about what had happened. Who or what had attacked him? Who saved him and where is he now? There were so many questions running through his mind, but he shook his head, now was not the time. He stood up from the bed, and crossed the room to what he could make out as a door. Surely there's a lightswitch near the door. His paws roamed the wall, but they were bare. No switch. He clapped his paws, and snorted when nothing happened, then winced in pain again. "Laughing hurts," he noted.

Then a low voice spoke up, "Lights on."

The lights came on, and Kevn saw the one who had saved him, though he didn't know this immediately. A tall tiger-like man, with stripes all over his fuzzy body, except for the front which was white. He was just standing there shirtless. You could tell he was strong with a single glance at him.

"Good evening. Would you like some water?" he asked Kevn, as he turned to the kitchen cupboards to grab a glass.

"Please. That would be nice." replied Kevn, who just realized how dehydrated he really was.

The mysterious tiger poured a glass of water, and handed it to Kevn gently. Kevn took the glass, and quickly chugged it down as if he had never tasted water before.

"I was worried about you. You were pretty well beat up." exclaimed the tiger, taking the glass from Kevn to draw more water from the tap.

As Kevn reached for the glass again, this time he took notice of the tigers paws; they were bandaged, but you could see blood stains on them. His gaze turned to the tiger's chest, where there were scars. You could barely notice them under the fur, but they were there to see. He turned his eyes quickly when he noticed he was beginning to stare.

The tiger laughed, "Name's Arthur. You're lucky to be alive, you know. Had I not showed up, you'd have been dead and cleaned up by the system come morning."

"Kevn. Last night was pretty wi-wait, that was you?!" Kevn responded with shock.

"Those creatures nearly killed you. You were out for four days, my friend." replied Arthur, "You suffered a broken nose, and 3 fractured ribs. Probably still hurts, I bet."

Kevn winced as he was reminded of the pain. "Four days?! Whadoyoumean?! I can't go four days! I have work!" he was getting hysterical at the thought.

The large bulky tiger grabbed and hugged him gently. "It's okay. Calm down. You're alive, and that's more important right now."

His hold was gentle, and Kevn could smell something as his nose pressed into the tiger's chest. He smelled of lavender. It wasn't very strong, but you could tell it was there. It calmed him. Almost lulled him. His head rested against Arthur's chest for a moment, peaceful and secure. He pushed himself away when he realized he was getting aroused. Quickly, he turned to look the other way. He wasn't sure why this was happening, but it didn't feel wrong, just embarrassing. His mind cleared up again, and he managed to recover.

"How were you able to hit those things?" he queried, "Whenever I tried to hit them, my fists were just passing through them, as if they were just air."

Arthur looked at him for a moment. He turned around, and started walking away. "Follow me." he said, with a serious tone.

Kevn followed the tiger into a different room. Along the way, he looked out a window nearby and saw the city. His eyes grew wide when he finally realized just how high in the air they were. He could see the mountain range in the distance above the city. Normally the buildings would be in the way, but from here, the view was magnificent. The morning glow was starting to appear in the horizon behind the mountains, and you could see a ray of light passing between them as it got brighter with each passing moment.

Arthur called out to him, "Don't get too mesmerized. Come along."

Kevn peeled his face off the window to follow Arthur further. They arrived in the library, where the tiger quickly walked over to a bookshelf as it shifted, and revealed a new passage with a dim blue glow. They continued through the corridor and down some stairs. Once they arrived at their destination, there were numerous luminescent displays splayed across the room. Some were showing numbers, while others were playing news reals and propaganda from throughout the city. They continued past them, but Kevn stopped to take notice of a large glass case with what looked like a suit inside. He stared at the glass case for a moment, when he suddenly felt a large paw on his shoulder. He turned his head to a hunched over tiger next to his face.

"That's the suit that helps me beat up those things you saw." Arthur explained with a gentle tone. "It generates an electro-magnetic field around the gloves and boots, making them glow green when active. That is what allows my hits to connect with them. The rest of the suit is also powered with shielding to prevent damage from being hit by them."

Kevn just stared at the suit with a sense of amazement. He was speechless. Arthur, towering behind Kevn, couldn't help but smile at the awestruck pitbull. They kept moving, but there wasn't much left to see. The next platform had vehicles; an armored car of some sort that looked sleek, and three bikes with different colorations.

Kevn walked over to the car and reached out. His paw slid over the hood, as we walked around to the doors, then the hood, his fingers going around the lights, before turning back to the tiger.

"All this is yours? Are you some kind of savior in this city?" he asked, as he walked back towards the tiger.

Arthur just stood there. "Yep. The city needs someone to keep the people safe at night from the things you saw the other day." he said, as he stared blankly at an empty seat in front of some huge computer screen. "Besides, if I don't, who will?"

Kevn puffed his chest, and blurted out, "It's too dangerous! Call the cops! They'll look after things. You don't need to put yourself at risk." He continued, "If we explain to them what happened, I'm sure-"

"They can't!" Arthur yelled out.

Kevn's eyes went wide, as he shut his mouth.

"I have my reasons, dog. You don't know what I've seen." Arthur turned away from Kevn, as his paw rose to his chest. He walked over to the console, and just placed his paw down, hunched over, face down, eyes closed, as he grimaced.

Kevn could tell he was hurting, but he didn't want to pry. Obviously this tiger has seen some crazy stuff to be putting his life in so much danger like this. He didn't really understand. It was all still confusing to him. 'What were those things, anyway?' he thought. 'Why has he never seen them before?'

Arthur straightened up, still facing the other direction. Kevn only now just noticed how broad Arthur's back was, and then he saw the scars.

"Let's get you some food. Come, dog." he said, as he started walking away. Kevn followed.

Once back upstairs, Arthur pulled out some items from the refrigerator to make a sandwich for his guest. Kevn was sitting at a stool on the other side of the kitchen island. He watched Arthur as he worked. His mind was still trying to decode that night. Flashbacks kept coming back to him from that event that nearly had him dead on the street. His paws were clasped over the edge, and you could clearly see his mind working. His feet were nestled comfortably on the bar of the stool.

While Arthur was cutting a tomato, Kevn spoke up to kill the deadly silence in the room. "So... You do this on your own?"

Arthur replied, "Yes..." he paused, "At least, I do now." He resumed making the sandwich, which was only a slice of bread away from being complete.

He slid the masterpiece in front of Kevn on a plate. "Here you go. You need some nutrients. Eat up."

Kevn picked up the sandwich, and took a bite. "What do you mean, now?"

Arthur just lowered his face, "I had a partner. But then..." he stopped, his paw raising up to his chest again. "Those 'things', they surrounded us out of nowhere... We had nowhere to go, and there were too many of them." His face contorted from the pain.

Kevn, immediately able to see the discomfort in the tiger's face, stopped him "It's okay. Let's change the subj-"

"No. It's okay. It's good for me to talk about it." The tiger puffed up his chest. "My partner, he sacrificed himself to save me. We were surrounded that night, and there were no other options. If it wasn't for my partner's actions, I wouldn't be here today. And I wouldn't have been able to save you the other night."

Kevn finished his sandwich, feeling a bit better than he did earlier. His strength was returning. He pushed away his plate and stood up. He grabbed the tiger's paw, and looked him in the eyes. "Thank you so very much. You have no idea what it means to me. What you did, I owe you my life."

Arthur pulled his paw away, "Don't say that... You'll regret it."

"No. I won't." Kevn said sternly. "You shouldn't be out there on your own. Let me help you. I know a few things about combat."

Arthur chuckled, "You. In combat?"

Kevn's face just scrunched up "What the fuck is THAT supposed to mean?!"

"Come on, dog. Don't kid yourself. You don't understand that world, and you think you can just jump in and save the day? Who do you think you are, anyway?" Arthur mocked.

Kevn just stared at his feet, his ears lowering behind his head. He just wanted to help. And there was something about this tiger that just seemed to pull him in. He wasn't sure what it was, but he had to find out. His heart sank when he heard the words being spewed at him. He puffed up his chest, raised his head, and lashed back at the tiger.

"What about you, huh? What made you think you had to start being the savior in the first place?" He was standing closer to the tiger now, looking up at him. "Teach me. I want to help you. Show me what you know, and I'll learn."

The tiger just stared back at him quietly without saying a word, still towering over the pitbull. For a moment, Kevn wasn't sure what the tiger was thinking, but he knew his heart couldn't handle being so close anymore. His face started turning red as he realized his nose was only an inch away from the tiger's big chest. He could almost feel the tiger's chest moving up and down from breathing. Luckily, his dark but short fur covered most of the redness on his face.

He gulped, trying to calm himself.

Arthur burst out in laughter as his right paw landed on Kevn's head. "Alright alright. I guess it can't hurt to show you a few things around here. But you won't be out in the field, got it? You can start off by being my eyes and ears."

Kevn nearly jumped out of his skin with excitement, when it dawned on him: "I NEED TO CALL SOME PEOPLE!" he exclaimed. He had just woken up from a 4 day nap after all. "Do you have a terminal I can use?"

Arthur pointed to a device on the wall. Kevn immediately jumped over to it, and started calling a few different people he knew.

Once Kevn was done with the terminal, he came back to where he last left the hulking tiger, but he didn't find him in the kitchen. Arthur had already made his way into the library. Kevn found him sitting under a lamp reading a book. He stood in the doorway, just watching the tiger read, not saying a word. As he looked on, he saw details of the large cat he hadn't noticed before. He was wearing a shirt now, with glasses on. Under the light, he just seemed so peaceful, quietly reading whatever book he had in his paws. The whiskers which grew from his cheeks, the stripes that decorated his head, the short but longer hairs under his chin.

Arthur's ear twitched, and he turned his head to notice Kevn standing in the doorway. "I see you're done." he said, setting the book down on the table next to him and removing his glasses.

Arthur motioned to Kevn to sit down with him, as he stood up to turn on another lamp in the room. Kevn made his way to another seat across the tiger, and sat down comfortably, but his legs weren't quite long enough for his feet to reach the floor.

"Would you like something to drink, Kevn?" queried Arthur.

"Sure." he replied plainly. "Could I have some water, please?"

Arthur made his way back into the kitchen, only to return within a few seconds with a glass of water. Kevn took the glass, and sipped on it, keeping his eyes on the tiger as he sat down.

"So how long have you..." he paused, "...been a vigilante?"

"Please, don't call it that. It makes it sound so simple and mindless. What I do isn't something anyone can just go out and do. The shades are soulless beings that can't be handled by any average person who thinks they know a thing or two about fighting with a drunk." he replied sternly, clasping his paws in front of him.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Kevn replied, lowering his gaze.

"Well, you won't have to worry about those things with me around," said the tiger, "I'll do my best to keep you safe, doggy."

Kevn couldn't help but get a bit flushed at those words. When he lifted his eyes, they were met with the tiger's. He couldn't help but notice more of the tiger's features as his eyes pierced through his gaze. Strong jaw, fangs protruding a bit under his cheeks. Wide shoulders, fitting for someone who fights monsters regularly. Yellow eyes, a trait native to feline species in Igfrabit. Large strong paws with claws. He immediately turned his head, closing his eyes from embarrassment, lowering his ears, hoping Arthur wouldn't notice the red on his face. Kevn could feel all the blood rushing to his face. He heard Arthur snort across from him, as he slowly opened his eyes and turned his head back to face this creature.

"What would you say if I showed you a few things with the systems downstairs?" queried Arthur.

Before Kevn could answer, the tiger stood up from his seat, and moved towards the moving bookshelf as it opened to reveal the hidden passage once more. They headed down the stairs once again, and Kevn couldn't help but kill the awkward silence as he followed closely behind the tiger.

"You never did answer my question." he said sheepishly.

"7 years."

"What made you decide to start hunting these..." he paused, trying to recall what Arthur called those shadowy figures, "... Shades?"

"I was out partying with some people late at night a few years ago. One of my friends & I left on our own to make our way home, when we were attacked by them just before dawn." Arthur continued as they walked, "Like you, we tried to fight, but we couldn't do anything to them, so we just ended up running away before things got worse. Eventually, the sun rose, and they just vanished."

"Wow. And that's when you started hunting them?" Kevn asked.

"No. We went to the authorities first to tell them what we witnessed, but they just dismissed us as crazy kids on drugs." Arthur sighed as he recalled the events. "To be honest, we did have some drugs that night, and my friend just decided to pretend like it was all just a really bad trip. I, on the other paw, knew there was more to it than that. From there, I knew I had to do something."

They reached the large room with the many monitors, and made their way a few steps in when something caught the tiger's eye. He quickly rushed over to a computer terminal and started hitting a few keys, which brought up different images of the city. Eventually, he stopped at a video feed of what looked like a security camera in an alleyway. Before Kevn could ask what was going on, Arthur had already abandoned the computer terminal and was reaching for his suit.

"Is there anything I can do?" Kevn asked, worried.

"Stay here! You'll be safe here." Arthur stated with an angered growl in his voice, not even looking at Kevn as he dashed over to the vehicles, hopping on a bike and driving off through a tunnel ramp that opened up in the ground.

Kevn just stood there dumbfounded. He was on his own now until Arthur came back. He looked around at all the different displays, and decided to inspect the different gadgets in the room. When approaching the car and bikes, Kevn noticed a monitor that was showing what seemed to be his neighborhood. When he approached, the monitor flickered. 'Wait, what's what?' he thought, as he noticed a dark figure in the image. It looked directly into the camera. The monitor flickered again, and it was gone. 'Strange' he thought.

He moved away, and made his way over to the glass case where the suit was being held earlier. Looking around, Kevn found a button hidden behind the case with a metal plate that read 'Night Vision'. Looking around, he just now only noticed there was a metal plate on the case for Arthur's suit as well, but it read 'Ghost Fist'.

"Well, what's the worst that could happen?" Kevn said with a sigh, as he reached for the hidden button.

With a very cool *swoosh*, the ground opened up, and another case appeared from the floor with a suit inside.

"Could this be..." Kevn trailed off, as he examined the new suit that appeared in front of him.

He hit the button a second time, and it disappeared into the floor from whence it came with another cool *swoosh*. Kevn proceeded to leave the room, and made his way back into the library to check out the books on the shelves, as well as get some more water. Being so high up in the air seemed to make him feel a bit more thirsty than usual. Maybe it was the air filtration system. It did feel a bit more 'clean' here.

Kevn stopped in the library to examine the books on the shelves, but nothing seemed to stand out to him. Most of them were books on alchemy, chemistry, astronomy, and various others. He then made his way into the kitchen to fetch himself a glass of water. This would be his chance to explore the place a bit more. With a glass of water in paw, he made his way into the bedroom, turning on some lights on the way. He remembered how the tiger turned them on. "Lights on." was all he had to say, and the lights came on in the bedroom.

The bedroom was a nice size, with a large bed, dresser, mirror. The typical bedroom furniture one would find. That's when he noticed a picture frame lying face-down on the bedside table. Kevn picked it up out of curiosity. The glass protecting the picture was cracked, like it had been dropped. There were two in the image; the familiar tiger that saved his life, and a jackal. Though smaller in stature, he was handsome. They were in each other's arms, embracing each other, looking at one another. That weirdly human notion of 'A picture is worth a thousand words' could really be felt in this picture. You could see the love they shared for one another.

"Is this..." Kevn stopped when he heard footsteps come into the room.

"There you are!" exclaimed the tiger, pulling his gloves off.

He moved closer to Kevn, who hurriedly set the picture frame back on the bedside table.

"That was Jace. He was my partner. Both in battle, and in life." Arthur continued, "I loved him."

Kevn couldn't help but notice the past tense being used in the conversation, and the fact that Jace was his 'partner in battle', as Arthur called him. Kevn turned around so fast, he bumped into the tiger who was now standing behind him. This made him stumble backwards, but the tiger reacted quickly, and caught him mid-fall. Kevn found himself staring straight into the tiger's face, helpless in his arms. His heart started racing immediately, and his face went completely red. He couldn't help himself this time, as he felt his crotch rub up against the tiger's, arousing him slightly.

Arthur helped Kevn back on his feet, and he just patted him on the head.

"I've got some night clothes for you, if you need some. Just check the top right drawer of the dresser." Arthur said plainly as he left the room, peeling off the suit he was wearing.

Kevn took a deep breath, calming his nerves. "Fuck." he cursed under his breath. "What am I doing? Why am I feeling this way towards a... GUY!?"

Pulling out the drawer on the top right of the dresser, Kevn found some pajamas. Looking at them, they seemed the right size, so he quickly got out of his current attire. Doing so however was not without pain, as he was reminded of the night that got him here in the first place. The pajamas seemed to fit almost perfectly, aside from the pant legs being a bit longer than he needed.

Arthur walked back into the room in his underwear, which immediately flustered Kevn on the spot. The tiger walked past him, eyeing the pajamas on the dog. "Not bad." was all he said, as he opened a different drawer to the dresser, pulling out a separate set of pajamas for himself, but only the bottom half. This left his upper body completely exposed, and Kevn couldn't handle it any longer. With speed in his step, he tried to leave the room, but the pajama pants decided he needed to stay, when he tripped. Once more, he found himself in the tiger's large arms, staring straight at the striped face.

"That's twice now," said the tiger with a chuckle. "I could almost swear you were doing this on purpose."

"I'm not!" Kevn shouted, and only then realized how that sounded.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out that way." he corrected himself. "I'm just... I don't know. You saved my life, and now..." he paused.

Arthur helped Kevn straighten himself again on his own feet. "Shhh. It's okay. I know you're probably confused with everything that's happened so far." Arthur tried to comfort the dog, "You can sleep in the bed tonight. I'll take the couch."

Kevn looked at the bed, which was rather large. "I could..." He tried to collect his confused thoughts. "We could share the bed. There's enough room for both of us."

Arthur looked at the dog for a moment with curiosity, "It's fine. The sofa is pretty comfortable, too." he said, turning to walk out of the room.

"Wait!" the dog exclaimed. "I don't want to be alone right now." He couldn't believe the words he was uttering. Was he really asking the tiger to sleep with him in the same bed? "After everything I've been through, like you said, my head is just a big mess of confusion. It would be nice to have someone nearby, at least for tonight."

Arthur turned around, and stood in the doorway, leaning against the frame. "Really now?" He folded his arms. "I do tend to hog the covers at night. Think you can handle that?"

Kevn snorted. "Yeah, but we'll see who gets the last say on those covers." he quipped back.

That night, Kevn found it difficult to fall asleep, and was just lying on his back, staring at the ceiling. In the dark of night, he looked over to the tiger, who had his back turned to him. He listened to his breathing, which was rhythmic in a sense. It helped to calm his nerves. His mind still didn't settle down though, as images of that night flashed in his head every time he closed his eyes. A moment later the tiger shifted, completely turning around on his other side. Kevn now had a perfect view of the perfectly sculpted image next to him. His huge chest. His thick arms. Big paws. A moment later, he noticed there was a bit of drool coming from the tiger's mouth, which made him chuckle a bit.

With a sigh, Kevn turned the other way, exposing his back to the tiger, knowing he needed to try to at least get a few hours of sleep.

He closed his eyes, thinking about his life before all this happened. His mind wandered, and eventually it came back to the tiger. Images of Arthur up close. His face, his breath when he caught him mid-fall not once, but twice. A moment later, a rather large arm wrapped itself around his waist, pulling him into the hulking tiger sleeping behind him. Kevn wasn't sure how to react at first, but he didn't protest. Instead, he gave in and relaxed, feeling safe. The tiger murmured in his sleep, but it was inaudible. Kevn's mind eased up, and he figured he would just try his best to get some sleep. Eventually it worked, and his mind drifted into a blank state of nothing, the world simply fading away into a dream.

To be continued...
