Catching Up

It had been far too long since Anori and Sasha had gotten to hang out. This was clear from the moment they met, because both the bear and the fluffy rhino were so excited, so giddy and eager just to be in one another's company that they barely stopped moving for five minutes, hugging, parting, circling one another, touching hands, blushing and parting again, only to hug anew. They giggled and whispered that they'd missed each other over and over again, the words coming tumbling out despite both having considered beforehand that they didn't want to seem too eager and excitable just in case their friend wasn't as overjoyed at a chance for them to catch up as they were.

The warm summer sun shone down upon their bodies as they stood out in the open along the seashore promenade engaged in their gleefully fragmented conversation, and it was almost a full quarter of an hour after their first reunited hug when finally Sasha grasped Anori more firmly, confidently and permanently by the hand, and without another word dragged him down the nearby pathway and onto the sand itself.

They chatted as they walked, sharing what they had been up to over the past months despite having spoken about their daily goings on multiple times over texts and messaging apps. They grinned and nodded and eagerly drank in every word the other had to say, both beaming and blushing as they looked at their companion's face and both considered how beautiful it was, though neither of them made any effort to say as much. Without even realising it though, so caught up in one another on all levels that the passage of time and the motion of their own bodies was scarcely a concern, they soon found themselves on a stretch of the beach towards its far end, well beyond the end of the promenade and thus free from the majority of other people who had migrated to the sand with their friends, loved ones and families in order to soak up the sun and let their children play.

In actual fact by the time they came to a halt the beach around them was entirely deserted, the nearest other people mere pinpricks in the distance, and though the sun still shone down upon them they found themselves close to the cooling shade of a nearby rock outcrop some fifty feet high.

"Wanna cool off a little?"

Sasha murmured, not overheating by any means but definitely feeling the weight of her lush fur coat, and seeing in Anori's posture that he was in a similar situation. The rhino nodded in gratitude, and a moment later they were walking into the shade of the rock, not just sitting on the sand itself closer to it but tucking themselves right in against the rock, Sasha leading Anori by the hand the whole way.

Once they stopped, leaning against the cool rock and sighing in relief, hands still clasped together with fingers wordlessly entwining, no-one spoke for quite some time. Sasha laid her head against Anori's shoulder. He leaned his head against hers in turn, and a few minutes later without any warning and barely recognising that he was going to do it himself, Anori kissed the bear on the top of her head. She gasped, and he tensed up, preparing to apologise. A moment later though, Sasha giggled gleefully.

"About time."

She teased, the rhino's eyes widening as she pulled away from his shoulder but not his hand, turned her body so that she was standing directly in front of him rather than behind him, and daintily, playfully rose up on her tip-toes, extended her head, and presented her muzzle with lips pouted for a kiss. Anori huffed in embarrassment, but equally intense excitement and joy too as he leaned forward and delicately pecked the waiting bear on the lips. She opened her eyes, raised one eyebrow at him, then closed them again and resumed that same expectant position. Anori chuckled, shrugged, and a moment later Sasha was shrieking in laughter as he wrapped his free arm around her and dipped her like a movie star, smooching her sloppily due to their odd positioning and her being mid-squeal at the time, but passionately and adoringly nonetheless.

When they righted themselves in the wake of that much more lengthy kiss, both the bear and rhino were red in the face and grinning from ear to ear. Both hands entwined together now, and as they stepped closer to one another, nose to nose with Sasha looking up and the taller rhino looking down, they let slip an unthinkably happy, contented sigh.

"I... I really did miss you a whole lot, Sasha."

Anori murmured, blushing at how obvious a comment that probably was given what he'd just done to the bear. She giggled and beamed back at him nonetheless, and squeezed his hands fondly in hers as she nodded warmly.

"You've been wanting to smooch me like that for a while, huh?"

The rhino's face burned scarlet, but he didn't shy away and nodded sincerely.

"Yeah. I hope that's okay?"

Sasha raised an eyebrow.

"Okay?"

She giggled, extricating her hands from his so that she could wrap them around the rhino's neck, pulling him down to her level for another deep, deliriously giddy kiss that lasted every bit as long as the one which Anori had prompted and then some. When she pulled back though, the bear briefly put on a nonchalant air, and just about managed to get out the words she said before collapsing into a fit of playful giggles once again.

"Yeah, it's okay, I guess."

She stuck out her tongue. Anori snorted with laughter and wrapped his arms around her, the bear squealing as he lifted her up so that they were eye to eye, his hands conspicuously on her ass as they kissed again. And again, and again until their heads were spinning with a mixture of oxygen deprivation and simple joy. When finally they stopped smooching each other's brains out though, when they laid their heads together blushing, beaming, giggling and panting softly, they spoke in almost perfect unison.

"Can we..."

"Will you..."

They fell silent, grinning, still clutching tight at one another in the shadow of that rock, feeling their bodies tremble together and so happy to be in a position to feel that mutual, giddy quaking once again. Gently, Anori nodded, letting Sasha go first. When she spoke though it was clear to both of them that they had been about to say the exact same thing.

"Will you promise me something, 'Nori?"

She pecked him on the lips. He trembled and squeezed her tighter, his hands still on her rump, her body pressed so tightly against his that he knew there was no way she couldn't feel exactly how happy he was to have her so up close and personal. The rhino nodded, eager to do so even before finding out what it was. When Sasha spoke up again though, Anori felt vindicated in his pre-emptive trust and support of that incredible, wonderful woman in his arms.

"Promise me that we'll work together to find more time for each other. And..."

The bear blushed, looking around the edge of the rock back along the length of the still thankfully deserted beach from where she was cradled so tenderly in the rhinoceros' gentle arms.

"...and, promise me that if you ever start to miss me like I can feel you've missed me right now? You'll let me show you... let me prove to you, t-that... that I've missed you just as bad, and... a-and just as hard."

Anori's eyes bulged as the bear squirmed her way out of his arms and back to the ground. He whimpered softly, leaning back against the rock to stop himself toppling over as Sasha fell to her knees in front of him, and then...

Then...

"O-oh, Sasha..."

The rhino grunted, as right there on the beach Sasha began to prove her point just as she had said she would, though without speaking a single word more.
