Conjoined Evolution
This is the second poem made to be posted along with my previous one, "Preserving Those Inhabitants of the Dwindling Ice" since Pokémon Day and International Polar Bear Day fell on the same day. It was also meant for the then 25th Anniversary of Pokémon and is a personal poem about what Pokémon means to me. Originally posted in March 2021.
Conjoined Evolution
By: A.X. Bueno
It's been 25 years since this franchise got started
Starting off on the Gameboy and only moving forward to today, to old and new regions to still be charted
All these years have given us the many main line games, numerous spin-offs, cards, merch and more
Pokemon is a series that's absolutely gargantuan and it's one I truly just adore
These games I've been playing and enjoying for almost as long as I can remember
Starting off with Crystal then my own copy of Leafgreen and that Charmander that knew ember
My Pokémon journey started then which was a long time ago
And over the years I've only continued to play and find new ways to enjoy the game as I've grown
For me Pokémon is a comfort game series that has come a long way
One could say I've evolved alongside the games that I've loved to play
I've gone through many different teams of six and games aplenty
Everything from Pinball to the Mystery Dungeon games to all the mainline games after and in between
All the hundreds of hours played from coming back to the different games frequently
Doing so usually leaves me feeling good and serene
Enjoying the games practically as much as childhood back then maybe even more so now
Pokemon has impacted me in so many ways I can't even fully describe how
From fond memories made during long trips to interesting conversations about things like the music and which region/gen and Pokemon are the best
For me personally while I enjoy them all more or less
It's gotta be Gen 3 and Marowak almost no contest
Of course I could go on and on about Pokemon
There's so much about it and it's many subtler details and series entries that I could say
But I think I'll end it here for now, Happy 25th Anniversary Pokemon and Happy Pokemon Day
