#14 of Transformation

Suntah is an outcast langur monkey that is desperate to have a pack for his own, that's why he tries to defeat other alpha males. He has no memories of his past either. When he enters an abandoned temple after another unsuccessful fight, he finds the statue of Hanuman, a Hindu monkey god and his life changes completely.

Two langur monkeys stared at each other while they moved in circles. It was a fight between the alpha male and a young outcast that desired to gain a pack for his own. Around them, forming a circle, were the females with their young, wondering if this would be the last day with their sons or the status quo would remain. However, facts said there would be more chances for the last option than the first. The young male, which we will call Suntah to ease things, even if was still strong, had some issues with walking, the alpha male was stronger and had inflicted him several injuries.

Suntah's eyes were full of determination, he could not reckon how long had he been alone, nor the pack he was borne in, nor his mother. He remembered being in some young male's group, but every time they attacked a pack, he ran away, for he was never the strongest male, so it was better to stay alive. But now despair filled his thoughts; time was ticking, the impulses to have a family, an offspring, were strong within the brain.

He jumped onto the older male after moving in circles a couple more of times. Suntah tried to bite as strong as he could, he wrapped him within his arms as struggled on the dusty floor, rolling over its surface. The alpha males screamed for the pain the long fangs caused after being stung in the flesh. Some blood was drawn, but in a blink of an eye, tables were changed again. The alpha male opened his arms as strong as he could to be free, then rapidly attacked Suntah. His strength was absurd, in an instant, Suntah was locked within the arms of the old male. He tried to get free, but those arms were too powerful. The alpha male bit Suntah's shoulders, then open his grip and pushed him to the floor, took him from one leg and pulled him over the ground.

Suntah screamed for mercy, the alpha male heard him, yet he continued punching and attacking the intruder to teach him a lesson. The young male was dirty with dust and blood, there were patches of his fur without hair. He managed to get free from the older male and ran away from the place. It was not his time yet.

The outcast wandered around the populous city. It was almost night, streets were full of humans that headed back to their places, claxons cried, cars and bikes flooded the streets. Bats were on their way to hunt for insects or eat some summer fruits in the near forests. Suntah managed to evade all the obstacles on his way to look for some food before going to sleep. If he were in a pack, he could get free food from the humans, but he had to rely on dervish and fruits that he could find in the city.

As night progressed, Suntah got farther and farther from the downtown to the suburbs. The blood on his fur had completely coagulated, he wasn't hungry either, at least luck was on his side with finding food, he could eat some mangoes in a mango tree he stepped by on his way around the city.

It was almost 10:00 pm when he entered what it looked like an abandon temple. Suntah did not see any trace of humans, nature was on its way to claim the building. Gardens were full of weeds that grew wild as well as the trees. There were some plants that sprout from the walls and the floors of the temple, even some roots of a Ficus tree hung from the roof. The monkey continued his way to the deepest parts of the building, only illuminated by the full moon.

He felt odd. Why was he going so far within the temple? it was safe for him. There were no tracks of predators, nor monkey packs, nor humans, only plants, insects, birds and other harmless animals. He felt like a mysterious force was dragging him into the monument.

Faded bas-reliefs covered the walls. They told the story of a monkey deity, about how it helped a hero to rescue his wife, how it fought against demons, and how it brought a hole mountain from the Himalayas to an island at the south of India. However, Suntah could not understand it, so he continued his way to the center of the temple. There he found a statue, of the same deity that was depicted in the walls.

The statue was tall, made of marble. His chest was open, showing a couple of humans: Rama and Sita, a crown sat upon his head, a necklace of pearls enveloped his neck and a loincloth covered his personal parts. A war mace rested on the floor. Suntah sat before it to admire its beauty. The artists had done a great job with it, it almost seemed alive. Time had done damages, but it still looked great: how the muscles flexed under the fur, how the hair under the crown was detailed and meticulously carved in the stone.

Suntah felt one last impulse toward the statue. He stood up and got closer to it, so close that he could touch it by just extending his hand, which he did. The world around him darkened, only the statue remained.

"It is time" a human voice said inside his head. Suntah did not understand at first, but immediately the words had sense.

"Our lord is going to descend once again to the land to fight the evil and protect the Earth. It is our duty to follow him" the voice continued. Suntah wanted to say something, but he just articulated monkey sounds.

"We've being living for thousands of years in this world" the voice said.

"What!" Suntah exclaimed, then he covered his mouth with his hands, he had spoken.

"We are Hanuman, the monkey god that helped Rama rescuing his beloved wife Sita from the evil Ravanna" the voice explained "We are immortal, but we decided to stay asleep until our master returns. That is why you remember nothing. Our consciousness was split between the astral world and the mortal realm, as well as our divine powers, except for immortality".

Suntah finally had answers for his lack of memories.

"Let me restore your memories first" the voice said. An influx of energy traveled through Suntah's body into his mind. And then he remembered: he was Hanuman, son of Vaju, the wind god, he helped Rama rescuing Sita, he jumped the sea that divided India from Sri Lanka, he fought alone the minions of Ravanna and destroyed their palace, he brought an entire mountain from the Himalayas to give Rama a plant to cure his friend.

"Now that you remember" his own voice said "It's time to recover our body".

A major influx of energy was injected into his body. Suntah felt a fire being ignited within him, which filled every cell of his body with new energy, activating and deactivating genes in their nuclei. They divided, some made apoptosis in order to adjust his body to a new form. His spine bent, giving him the chance to stand on two legs, which, on the other way, elongated, while hips narrowed and arms shortened. It was a painful process, but it was kind of liberating as well. Suntah felt like he was finally becoming wat he really was.

Once he could stand perfectly on two legs, another process started, this time involving his muscles. New strength entered them, enlarging the muscular fiber or even multiplying them. Muscles contracted under his skin, with each contraction they expanded more and more. It did not ache this time, on the contrary, it was pleasant. His bloodstream was full with dopamine and oxytocin.

Suntah smiled lewdly as his flat chest grew forward to turn a pair of mounds. Lungs pushed outward their encaging so shoulders expanded as well, duplicating, then triplicating their original size. Biceps and triceps exploded in mass, while large veins came into view under the fur, a trail of abdominal muscles appeared under the big pectorals. The upcoming monkey god grunted with pleasure as he touched his godly figure in construction. The growth continued his way to the legs, where quadriceps and twin muscles expanded laterally, while his tail also grew larger as well as the feet and hands to fit the titan's body.

A crown, a pearl necklace and a loincloth were magically created to end Suntah's, now Hanuman, transformation. Hanuman admired his body one las time, he flexed his arm, his torso and legs in order to show them to the pale moon, which light illuminated the hall and his majestic figure.

"Now it's time to build an army" he threw his thundering words to the black of the night. He then stepped outside the temple, listened carefully the silence of the night and then jumped to the skies to land near where the previous pack of monkeys he encountered rested.

The noise of his landing woke up every monkey there, which, once they found the origin of the sound, paled. Before them stood a titan, monkey in features, human in body and clothes.

"Kneel before me!" ordered Hanuman, his voice was as threatening as a thunder that even stones trembled. "Every male must come with me to the Himalayas. Our lord needs our assistance once again to destroy the evil that threatens to destroy the world" he continued after the monkeys obeyed.

"I will now summon every monkey for the meeting, you must go in the morning" he disappeared from their sight once he finished. The monkeys were confused, but they did as he commanded for the fear of what could happened if they disobeyed him.

Hanuman jumped from pack to pack, always going north, to the highest mountain chain in the world. People began to wondered why, all of the sudden, monkeys began a migration to the north, especially the male ones, because females and young remained in their territories. Day by day, dozens, then hundreds and then thousands of them marched to the cold mountains of the Himalayas, no one saw the mighty Hanuman, for he mostly traveled by the air, as he was son of Vaju, the wind god. He did not fly, but his jumps were so high that it looked like he could.

All monkeys gathered at the foot of one of the myriads of mountains that separated India from the rest of the continent. Over them, in a big boulder, sat Hanuman, who waited until night for all primates arrived.

"Thousands of years ago, it was us who helped Rama defeating Ravanna and recover Sita" Hanuman exclaimed "After that, I stayed asleep to wait for the next time our lord Vishnu descended once again to the world in order to exterminate the evil that ills the Earth, while you descended into a feral state".

Monkeys growled quietly, for they did not understand much. Hanuman noticed it.

"Fear not, it will be clearer now" he raised a hand to the skies and then he extended it over the heads of the monkeys before him "Wake up, my brothers, may the veil of ignorance and savagism be put off from your minds".

Every monkey covered their heads with the hands, for a terrible ache attacked them. Their senses were once again activated, their tongues and throats, able to produce words, their ears, to understand them.

"It's not over yet" He added. The monkeys bent down to the ground; pain invaded every inch of their bodies. The same changes Hanuman experienced days ago were now happening on them. In half an hour, thousands of anthropomorphic monkeys were roaring before the foot of the mountain.

"That's it, mighty warriors!" Hanuman yelled cheerfully, the monkeys roared back "Embrace this form I gave to you and follow me and our lord to the battle against the enemies of the world"

Then he jumped again, but as he was on the air, his body experienced one last change. Hanuman had the ability to change his size, he could be as big as a mountain or as little as a mouse. The first thing to increase its size was the tail, which grew to 20m al least, then it was the turn for the legs that duplicated that last measure. Hanuman could feel how the bones melted to expand and then hardened again, how muscles accommodated to the new dimensions. The growth continued to his upper body steadily, meter by meter the monkey enlarged to look more like a god and less like a mortal. Hands became so big that he could easily envelope a human being, and he became so tall that building looked like mere houses.

The Earth trembled like an earthquake when he landed, an iron mace appeared magically between his hands. He was ready for the fight. The nearly 50m monkey rested his titanic body on one of the sides of a mountain.

"Now we will wait for the orders of our lord" finished him while watching the dawn.
