#4 of Star-napped

Finally got this one edited! :D This was by far the hardest chapter for me to write, and I broke my 2000 words rule. There is definitely going to be a chapter 5. I'm hopping to wrap up Chuo's story in that one.

Enjoy!

Tap Tap Tap. Chuo stared sullenly at nothing in particular. He squinted as a swaying branch, from an alien tree, made way for the dappled sunlight, that glowed from the roof of his enclosure, to shine onto his face. His dark fur was also rustled by the artificial breeze, and it sparkled vibrant purple where it caught the light. He didn't cry. He didn't yell. He just layed there, listless, despondent.

_TAP TAP TAP! _ Chuo flicked one of his long ears in annoyance. Couldn't that creature next door let him sulk in peace? They were inside a large cylindrical enclosure. It looked like an enormous clear bird cage from the outside. On the inside, it was divided into 3 equal sections that met in the middle, each containing a different creature. The walls couldn't be seen out of, from the inside, but the dividing barriers were translucent enough for Chuo to make out the impression of his two neighbors. He couldn't hear or smell them either. Somehow the only sound that could pass through, had to be made by tapping or banging on the barriers.

Chuo had been in his home for a couple days now, and was still not used to being around life. He avoided being in the line of sight of either of the barriers that bordered his part of the enclosure, to hide from his neighbors. His area was small enough that he could never completely hide from both at the same time. On top of that, they all ate at the same time, where their enclosures met at the center. He was slowly growing used to the presence of the other two creatures. However, today the thrill of being out of his tiny cell was wearing off, and Chuo neglected to eat his breakfast. He had no idea how long it had been since breakfast usually appeared, but he had no appetite and the tantalizing smell held no interest for him.

It was sinking in that he'd never see his family, village, or friends ever again. On some level, he knew this to be the case, even after his first weeks in the cell, but it was only really hitting him now. He'd begged to the wall, hoping his captor would hear him. He asked for clothes, to go home, and for an explanation. There was never any response, and he hand't seen the giant god since it had placed him in here. The only evidence of it was the food that appeared near the center of the enclosure, twice a day, like clockwork.

TapTapTapTapTapTapTap! Why was that creature so insistent? Chuo was frightened of the quadruped next door, and he was terribly depressed. He was also bored and lonely. He was as desperate for connection as he was terrified of it.

TAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAP!!! Fine! If that creature wanted his attention so badly, it could see how it liked it when Chuo tapped incessantly at its wall! Chuo got to his wobbly legs. He was gaining his strength back and could walk without worrying about falling over.

He stopped about 3 feet away from the wall. He was suddenly very aware of his nudity, and he was too afraid to get any closer. Sure he'd been closer to the creature over meals, but there was food to distract them then. The creature on the other side paced excitedly, face fixed onto Chuo.

It had horns on it's head and a tufted tail that swished in agitation. It seemed to have spikes that protruded from it's spine. The claws it walked on were big in proportion to its body. Through the distortion, Chuo saw a blur of black, white, and orange. It seemed to have an expressive face that was just barely hinted at through the divider. The creature was bigger than Chuo, and he didn't like the look of all those sharp ends.

Chuo caught a glimpse of something long, bobbing between the creature's legs. Chuo flushed a bit. It seemed that this creature was male. Nervous as Chuo was, the creature's posture didn't seem like that of a predator hunting prey. He seemed curious.

The creature put his face right up against the divider, and Chuo crawled forward to meet him there. Chuo could make out a face with round, amber eyes and a large, frightening maw. He tapped at the divider with one of his claws. Up close, they reminded Chuo of talons. The talons had five 'fingers' with the outer two being opposable, like thumbs. It had a truncated one on the back, near the wrist, to act like a heel.

Chuo tapped back with his round, nail-tipped paw. The creature on the other side seemed delighted and jumped around, before coming back to tap twice. Chuo tapped twice too.

Chuo took the lead and tapped once, then three times, and then once again. The creature responded with the exact same patten, and then threw a new one at Chuo. Tap Tap. Tipity-Tap. Tap Tap Tap. Chuo thumped his tail on the ground happily as he sent the pattern back. Simple as the game was, he was having more fun than he'd had in months. The creature was swishing his tail too. Nothing is truly universal, but body language, among social organisms, can come remarkably close.

They played their game until the light above them turned red in simulation of a sunset. The scent of fresh food yanked Chuo's attention away from the creature across from him. He was feeling better than he had in a long while. His appetite had returned with a vengeance, after his missed meal. Chuo walked side by side with his new friend, to their meals.

The hot plate of food was bigger than normal, to compensate for the Chuo's missed breakfast. He drank from the stream. He'd gone too long without drinking too. He saw the long, green outline of the third neighbor. The three of them ate, only feet away from each other, but separated. Chuo's new friend kept looking between their portions, posture agitated. He seemed bothered that Chuo had more food than him.

Chuo ignored him and ate his entire plate quickly. He was growing sleepy in his fullness, and the sky was imitating dusk. Chuo laid on his back and tried to just grow used the presence of his neighbors. This was his first time not retreating immediately after finishing. He stretched his legs above himself and let out a happy sigh. Embarrassingly his cock was free, on his tummy, but wasn't worried because of the obscuring barrier.

Chuo ignored him and ate. SLAM! TAP! TAP! SLAP! _ Chuo jumped and looked around wildly. The barriers had turned _perfectly clear, and his new friend was apparently alerting him. He could see both of the creatures in perfect detail. Two bright orange eyes here looking right as his tail hole. Chuo eeped and used his tail to cover up.

The creature Chuo played with earlier had horns that framed his head like pincers. He had expressive, wide amber-orange eyes that sat in an expressive round face. His black nose was flat on his square muzzle, and he had a large muscled maw with a pair of tusks that protruded from the lower lip. Wide tube shaped ears stuck out from a white mane, and his form was muscled beneath white boney armor that covered his talons and back. In fact his 'armor' seemed to act like flesh in some places. The armor on his back had flat spines that rose along it, to his tail. His tail had a white tuft on it, like his mane. His unarmored body was covered in short, black fur. There were veins of shimmering, orange amber, that ran and twisted through his boney armor. He hoped up, front talons on the now-invisible barrier, He was taking Chuo in intently. The view let Chuo know that his dick had retreated into its sheath, for the time being.

Chuo turned to see the other creature. It was long and elegant with a fan that stood expressibly on its head and ran down its back and long its tail. Its green scales flashed gold against the last of the light. Its wide blue eyes were flicking between Chuo and the other creature. The fan on its head stood upright in surprise as it took in what it was seeing. It seemed to have retractable claws, and it seemed as comfortable on his hind legs as he was on all fours. It had thin tissue that frilled from its arms, and Chuo realized that it's front arms doubled as wings. It got right up close and was sizing Chuo and the other creature up. The fan on its head flattened, stood back up, and then flattened again.

Chuo decided to name this green one 'Wing', after its wings. He'd already started referring to the quadruped as 'Copper', in his head.

Seeing his alien neighbors in full detail so suddenly was overwhelming to Chuo, and his instinct to run and hide kicked in. He'd finished his meal anyway. The 'sky' had grown entirely dark, but the enclosure was faintly illuminated by bioluminescent plants and fungi. Some of the insects, that zipped through the trees, glowed with blue and green light.

Chuo scooted away. His heart was in his throat and he felt himself starting to panic. Sure he'd communicated with Copper, but after months in isolation, this was overwhelming. He got up and nearly ran away. To his horror, Copper followed along the invisible barrier, and so did Wing. They seemed set on observing him, and each other. Chuo didn't want to be watched anymore, so he hid between a rock and some shrubs, buried his face in his arms, and whimpered until he fell asleep.

Even as he was waking up, Chuo felt that something more had changed. There were new smells, in the air, that he didn't recognize. He felt frightened, but his instinct to investigate the smells brought him to his feet. He followed one of the smells, it was musky, and almost had spice to it. It smelled good and almost arousing to him. Chuo walked until he smacked into the invisible barrier and fell backwards onto his wide, round ass. He rubbed his muzzle, as his eyes welled from the pain and surprise.

Apparently this new smell was Copper's. He came bounding from a tree at a blinding pace and threw itself at the invisible wall. Chuo scrambled back, but Copper kept his fore paws on the wall so he was upright and frighteningly tall. His round, expressive eyes were trained on Chuo. Those amber eyes were intense, and deep with curiosity and intelligence. Chuo was frightened but couldn't help but to stare into them.

Copper opened his tusked maw. "MrrrawR'Ak'K'K'Arwre? AR'R'rk'rk'rk'ark'ak!"

Chuo stared wide eyed. They could hear, as well as smell, each other! "I can't understand you.. Well I guess you already know that." Chuo pointed to himself. "I'm Chuo. Do you know where we are?"

"Kchkrk? RkrRKA'A'A'krkck." Copper tried to make an 'Oh' sound, but choked on it.

Chuo guessed that they were incapable of making the same sounds. With Copper so close, that smell was growing overwhelming. He realized, with a flush of horror, that his wet, pink cock was slipping from his sheath. His nose turned pink, and he covered up with his paws.

To his fascination, Chuo saw that copper was also growing aroused, and was not nearly as shy about it. A long ridged, black cock was bobbing, free from Coppers sheath. It dribbled a long string of pre-cum.

Chuo smelled breakfast, and was grateful for the excuse to move on to something different. Copper kept making agitated vocalizations to Chuo, as they walked, but Chuo kept his eyes down and ears flat.

Wing was already at the eating area, and Chuo smelled his sent up close for the first time. It was sweeter than Copper's and swampy, but still musky. He knelt down to eat.

"Hi. Do you talk too?" Chuo asked quietly, before digging into some vegetables.

"RKAK'KRAW'RK'RK'K" Copper said. Looking between his two neighbors, with an intent look on his muzzle. He bent down to tear into some marbled meat. Some gristle caught on his tusk.

Wing looked between Copper and Chuo, looking half way frightened, half way amused. His eyes also suggested keen intelligence. "Srrrshhhhhrrrshhsmmmhhhhoooomoooomng" He howled, and the sound buzzed through Chuo's chest. Copper and Wing made the strangest sounds Chuo'd ever heard, apart from maybe that god. He shyly licked at his wing flaps, and then looked away, aloofly. Wing readjusted his position, as if ashamed, and Chuo caught a gimps of an erection that was bobbing between its legs. So Wing was male too. All three of them were pent up from being on their own from months, and the smell of other males was affecting their minds and bodies bodies. Their new owner intended for this to happen.

The three of them ate together. Copper kept making angry sounding vocalizations that frightened and confused Chuo. Despite this, the three males were curious about each other, and were all trying to hide their own erections. Copper was the worst at this, considering he always moved around on all fours.

They spent the rest of the day getting used to each other, and communicating through sounds and taps on the barrier. Wing and Chuo invented a 'game' where they'd run alongside the other. Copper liked that game too, but was agitated at not being able to communicate clearly. Copper seemed upset at Chuo and wing, but Chuo couldn't guess as to why.

Chuo felt pangs of loneliness and hurt, whenever Copper and Wing excluded him, even for a moment.
