You know, I'm reminded of many things as I lie here. The whole thing about your life flashing before your eyes isn't exactly true. You remember the choices that you made, making you wonder if I had made the ones that I did would it have happened like this. I let out a weak whimper as I rolled over, onto my side. My time was coming, but it just seemed to be taking for ever. My body started to slow, the pool of red around me growing. My eyes slowly focused on my out stretched hand, seeing the blackish grey fur there covered in my crimson blood. That line form the song, Mad World suddenly springs to mind. "I find it kinda funny." I started to whisper the song. "I find it kinda sad, dreams in witch I'm dying are the best I ever had." I said, choking and hacking a bit, the metallic taste of blood filling my muzzle, with my fading strength I spat it out. You know, you think that I would be sad, or depressed. Strangely I'm not, I'm rather at peace. The stinging and burning pain that I felt through out my body slowly draining away. I knew that I was covered in numerous cuts, scratches, burns and who knows what other kinds of wounds, but they were all superficial. I used what little will I had left to lift myself onto my hands and knees, and then folding back, and sitting on my knees. I knew that the reapers cold claws where digging into me, chilling my dying body and sapping the last of my strength, causing me to shiver. I had to fight it, I didn't know why or how long I could make it but I had to. "If I'm going to die, I'm going to die bathed in the light of the moon, in the Goddess' arms." I mumbled and doubled over in pain. The wave that washed over me was crippling, and emanating from what was to be my killing blow. My howls of pain soon became more of a gurgling and retching sounds. The sounds being over come with the splattering sound of the blood and what little food I had in me, several waves over came me as I kept violently expelling my stomach. Gasping for air as it ended, I sat there panting and waiting for the room around me to stop spinning. I felt the warmth of the blood covering my front, staining the once snow white fur of my chest. On unstable feet and shakier knees I stood up and nearly fell. I stumbled over to the table and used it to steady myself. I was in the kitchen of an old abounded house, a glittering beam of light shown through the old bed sheets that acted as curtains. Slowly I stepped forward, making my way to the door. Wobbling, and staggering as if I was an infant just learning to walk. The silence in the room was deafening, so much so, that I could here the splatter of the blood dripping. After an agonizingly long walk I reached for the curtains and pulled them to the side, smiling weakly as the light washed over me, and seeing that the glass door wasn't boarded up or anything. It was locked, but for even my shaking paws was nothing to unlock. "Finally." I gasped as I felt the cool night air washing over me. The soft wind whispering through my matted fur and hair. With blurry eyes I looked around, taking in the surroundings. It shortly dawning on me. I was in the old house just off the main road, the one surrounded by woods. I saw the head lights glittering through the trees as I started walking. Moving from tree to tree, using them to help hold myself up. The color was starting to fade from my sight as I kept moving. Even in the dimly lit forest, the once vivid green trees began to fade into a dull grey color. Stopping by a tree as another wave of nausea hit me, the quiet of the woods shattering as I gagged and started vomiting again, splattering the pure red mess against the tree and my paws. "Goddess, just." I stopped and started walking again, panting as I grew weaker and weaker. "Take me now. Your kitten is ready to come home." I said as I got closer to the passing lights of the cars. Stopping at the last tree along the edge, the road just a yard or so ahead. My body didn't feel anymore, I was numb, I could hardly see, hardly breath, all I could hear was a ringing as I took a step, only falling to my knees. On hands and knees I started crawling, my hands and knees flatting the grass, and leaving a trail of bloody prints as I kept moving. After what seemed a life time I made it to the street's edge and collapsed. "Well, at least now some one can find me and tell my family what happened." I murmured softy as felt the smooth concrete under my face and hands. With bloody fingers I wrought my name. "Silver, Shanoa, Frostpaw." Under my name I scrawled the words, "I'll miss you mom." With the last "m" of the word I pulled my hand close, and with the last of my energy, I curled up, shriving and letting out a few soft whimpers and mumbling a good bye. A blindingly white light appearing in my sight, so bright it made me whimper. It was then, I herd something. "Thank you, I'm coming home." I said reaching out into the light, answering the voice that I herd, knowing it was the voice of the Goddess, of whom had come to take me home, to wrap me in her warm embrace. I herd the voice talking, but I couldn't make out what was being said. "Are we going to paradise?" I asked the voice as I felt a hand touching me, and the light disappearing into the swirl of blackness as I passed out. Finally being released and moving on to the promised land, to paradise. I could feel a wash of movement around me, hands all over me, working there holy magic. Slowly warming my body, washing the pain and filth away. I came to lying on a bed that was unlike anything that I had ever slept on. It was soft, but it had the right amount of support in the right places. Slowly sitting up and looking around I found that I was in a room not unlike my own. The only differences, there where no TV, paintings on the walls or any of my electronics. I slid to the side of the bed and got up, finding the floor like a hard wood floor but with out the nipping cold. "Come, young one. I need to speak with you." A soft female voice spoke, the sound echoing in my head softly as I followed. My body felt right, perfect even, my fur, soft and silky with no signs of any of the wounds that I had when I passed out. It was then that it hit me, I was dead and in heaven. "Are you lost?" The voice called again. "No ma'am." I called back, not knowing why I said ma'am, the voice just seemed to command respect. I walked out of my room to find myself in a large and overly ornate hallway. Looking to the end of it, I saw what confirmed that I was in paradise. I walked forward and shortly found myself at the foot of the throne of the Goddess of the moon. I fell to my knees and bowed, offering a short prayer. "Young one, I have watched the things that happened to you. I'm sorry that such horrors befell a child of mine." She spoke ever so softly, her voice was sweet and soothing like the voice of a mother. "Rest well, in knowing that soon you shall find that they have meet there just desserts, and your family will join you here in paradise." She said stepping down and resting a paw on my shoulder. Her paw where as soft as silk, all of her fur was a pristine, snow white. "Thank you great mother." I said purring softly, for the first time in what seemed like a long time. "I know that you wouldn't let anything like that befall your children and not justify it." I said looking up. "I know that it was my last trial, to make sure I was worthy to be here, and being in your presence." I said smiling, a warm, happy feeling bubbling up inside of me as I looked into her eyes. "Such noble and pure words. Coming from one so pure and strong of heart." She said walking back to her throne. "Stand child, I have to ask you something important. This is nothing to take lightly." She said as I stood up. "I can grant you passage back to the world of the living." She said, her voice becoming stern. "At a small cost. You will return to the world like you never left, your body broken and beaten. You will be saddled with the responsibility to bring or attackers to justice. If you where to die in the process of it, you will end of back here." She said standing. "But as long as you continue living that way you have you will all ways have a seat here in my kingdom." She said walking over to me, resting both hands on my shoulders. "What is your answer child?"
