Listening to the local slave master's prattling could irritate anyone's sensibilities, but to listen to the short but stout mouse of a man offering over living people like they were produce was just the worst, at least for Sir Isaac Erin McAllister. The twenty-nine year old kangaroo noble watched apathetically at the dozen plus slaves who were standing before him with their eyes attuned to his own, each with a hopeful look that he would be their salvation from the indignities of having to be paraded on their chains like fish on hooks. Said hooks were fastened to a long, narrow metal pole that stretched several yards in length, barely enough room was given between each slave to insure their personal space as the roo watched each of them stand at attention before him. Some slaves were faced away from the nobleman with their tails raised up and uncovering the straps of cloth that made up skimpy looking groin covering while show casing their tight pink undersides in hope of enticing him to purchase them.
It was a deplorable sight to see such mighty males, since by law a slaver was never supposed to have females outside in the brutal sun on that hot and airy of summer days, reduced down to cheap foodstuffs like meat from the butcher. Eyes running down the line of males on display, Sir Isaac let his gaze return to the only reptilian male of the bunch who looked to have seen a number of battles in his long life with long scars running smooth lines across his torso, neck and face. Those wounds said saying more than words to the roo about what the other must have gone through before he was forced to stand as he was now while showing off his masculine assets with a clawed hand raising up his half hard crowned maleness, his other pushing aside his loincloth as if it were a dancers veil, like it was the most natural thing to do.
Wondering what kind of things the other must have seen before he was reduced down to the level he was, Isaac let his eyes trail over the dark green frame of the other male, taking stock of the dense muscles lined underneath the tight olive hide of the reptile before cocking his head and watching a long serpentine tail sway behind the slave almost eagerly. From the thick legs and sculptured thighs, Isaac watched as the long muscle stretching from the back of the reptile's anus made strange shapes across the ground as if making a language of signs conveying his hidden emotions. Trying to be discrete to save face, Isaac turned his head to the updraft of wind blowing through the market and inhaled deeply to catch the scent of the scalie.
His sneezed reflexively as the crisps scent of lizard sweat and musk laden pheromones rose up from the reptile's half aroused length sitting between his fingers. Being a male lover, Isaac found his britches starting to tighten as his sheath became swollen and his balls tightened up from where they lay. Making a gesture of coughing so as not to seem as eager as he was becoming to sample this male right here in front of the on looking crowd of nobles, the kangaroo made the mistake of calling the attention of the slave master who was barking aloud of all those around to come and have a look at his wares.
"Fresh slaves! Fresh slaves here!" the stout man shouted before walking over to where Isaac was standing and then smiled at him so wide that the roo thought the mouse's face must have been altered by doctors to get his lips to stretch so far onto the sides of his face. "Take a gander at this fine specimen; a scale-hide all the way from the Tarmenaan Islands. A bit scarred yes, but still a good buy if you are looking for some muscle working out in the field or pulling a carriage! Also comes fully equipped with a 9-incher and a virgin hole for those looking for something...more from their slaves other than physical work." The mouse slaver said to Sir Isaac as he both nudged and winked at the larger roo while trying to say without words what the reptile could be good for above all else.
Trying not to become nauseated the kangaroo at the thought of another being, a male from a lineage of warriors no less being paraded the way he was, Isaac shied away from the other male, keeping his obvious disgust from his face before moving to the side and looking at the other slaves. His eyes failed to catch the slight disappointment that billowed inside of the reptile amber colored orbs before it was wiped away. Moving on further, the roo walked down the line, excusing himself several times as he walked inn between a noble who was using various of methods to elicit responses from the stalwart slaves who had probably had to suffer more than their fair share of indignities. Several of the nobles were touching and feeling up the pectorals as well as abdomen of the males on display as it testing fruit, some of them even had the audacity to use canes and sticks to raise the slave's loin guards to have a look at many of their groins.
Isaac shook his head, both from disbelief as well as from shame, since he wasn't that much better as his eyes may have lingered a minute too long at several male packages that made a spike of want rise up throughout his body. How long had it been since he had laid with another male? Probably too long if he couldn't readily tell, but such was the curse of being a noble and having to put on airs to keep up the show of dignity for others to gaze upon. Being both a merchant and...trader by designs Isaac couldn't afford to have assassinations with prostitutes while in his business, bad for reputation and all as he had so often heard from those around him and his own father. Having heard from his recently passed sire about the shame his grandfather had to suffer from the accusations of hiring a female lover while he and his wife were separated; Isaac made a vow never to suffer from such humiliation so long as he lived under the banner of the McAllister's.
Continuing to move back and forth along the line of males, Isaac made sure to look over several choice candidates that would be good for this home but refrained from touching them improperly as he looked at the various body types that would work well in his home. In all honesty, the roo found the idea of slavery deplorable but he wasn't a nobleman just because he was wise in the world of trades. Isaac knew that his home had been graced by the presence of unscrupulous figures in the past; several had even been so kind to leave threats and wishes for his demise behind in their wake. If it weren't for the fact that he kept his greatest of valuables and his one blessed keepsake from his past in between the walls of his house Isaac would have flippantly dismissed the gestures of intimidation. However, it was because he had things he valued the most kept safely tucked away that the roo was now looking for strong hands that would be good enough guards to protect his abode.
Going back and forth up and down the lines, taking turns walking on both sides of the slave stands to see the faces of those who were turned away at the commands of other nobles, Issac grunted as he watched several who were blatantly not made for this kind of life and made note to talk to the chief commander for the city's guard about buying those who would be better suited working for the guard that being a house pet for arrogant upper class citizens. After all, wasn't it the duty of the nobility to use whatever means they could to keep the integrity of their city walls intact, even if that meant losing out on servants who they didn't even require?
Isaac snorted to himself to still a laugh as he remembered some of the looks his fellow nobles had given him when he had said that once too loudly. Walking the line once more Isaac looked to the sky and realized that the hour was getting late enough that he should return home. It was then, after returning to where the mouse slave master was that the kangaroo made his decision.
Of the sixteen other males that were on display on that hot and dusty of days Isaac only saw two other besides the scarred reptile that appealed to his sensibilities. The other was a dark grey wolf that stood next to the Tarmenaanin, a muscular looking specimen that was sweating heavily from the heat and shimmering in the light of the afternoon sun. He was a good male and a strong back from what Isaac could see as the roo's carefully honed eyes watched how the wolf's muscles would twitch ever so lightly and how the scent of the other was both strong and virile, both sure signs that the other could be educated in the arts of defending his home with proper training. It may take some coin and a few promises to the city guard to lend him a pair of soldiers to school the wolf, but it would be worth it if he didn't have to worry about what happened on his property when he wasn't there. The fact that the predatory canine's docked tail was raised up and sweeping through the air as best he could enticing the roo with the sweaty tail-musk of an aroused male had very little to do with anything as the canine shook himself slightly to throw off the sweat accumulating on his fur.
Turning away, the roo walked over to a demur looking ram that seemed to be staring off into nothing, making Isaac wonder what was so wrong with the other that he seemed to fail to notice the world around. The brown furred male didn't look like he was the type who would be any trouble for a handler to work with, but that left the question of why he was there on sale since the ram appeared to be the personification of submission and deference, the ideal tool for anyone who needed a trusted slave to be in the home. If he were any other noble Isaac would have readily grabbed the bison up just so that he could have a subservient male around the house just to intimidate others that approached. From the heavy pelt of shaggy fur draping over well defined muscles, all the ram would need is to get that medicated look from off of his face and...
Like clockwork the mouse watched the roo's eyes wandering over his stock and then scurried over after giving his best stock lines to another noble, a female rabbit who was trying not to look as excited by the thought of having a personal sex slave for her bedroom. Sir Isaac barely got the chance to see that it was one of his neighbor's, no less, who were looking underneath the shadow of her parasol before his attention was drawn to the slave master,
"Ahhh, I see you have taken a liking to this slave here, correct?" The mouse said in his annoyingly high pitched voice making the kangaroo gnash his teeth together before he faked a smile, screaming inside of his head for the other to shut up talking.
"Yes I am. I'm curious as to what this man's specialties are, if any." The roo played coy and watched the body language of the shorter slave master and noted when the other seemed to freeze up for a moment before composing himself. Ahhh, someone's doing something they shouldn't, Isaac thought to himself as he looked down at the mouse.
"W-well, this fine slave here is...is a good worker for the fields the same as the scale-hide. He's got great potential in the home when it comes to cooking and making meals, preparing beds and watching over children. I'm assuming that milord has a bundle of tykes at home with the misses," Isaac almost laughed as he watched the mouse try to come up with something off the top of his head while obviously having nothing prepared beforehand.
"I take it that he's a bit slow in the head?" The roo watched the slave master take a step back and then swallow thickly before whipping his head around nervously.
"P-please milord, I'd gladly give him to you for twenty gold coins if you'll not make mention of this aloud." The slave master pleaded hurried as he rubbed his boney hands together nervously while twitching his whiskers restlessly. The slave in question seemed not to be paying much attention to anything as he looked around a little dully, but with a smile on his face that was almost childlike, completely failing to realize that he was being spoken about.
"How about you tell me his story first and then we shall see?"
The mouse told the tale in a hushed voice after he waved the roo down to his level that the ram in question had been dull from birth but could reason and figure out things if they were made simple enough to him. He had been found by the slave master some years ago when the bison had wondered away from his village and the ram had been given to the mouse on caprice by his kin after paying some silver for the other. Apparently, the ram hailed from one of the higher countries that was going broke because of the long standing war between the twin countries of Highover and Geraldine. Many of the villages between the borders of the two lands had either been raided in skirmishes or outright destroyed from the continuing conflict that went on to this day and many were forced to sell off their children just to have enough coin to see them through the bitter days. Though it was quite common an occurrence in the times of war, it made Isaac's stomach roll at the thought of having to sell one's own child just to escape from destitution, if only momentarily, however in afterthought, the roo surmised that it might be the greater mercy since many slaves usually got the chance to lead a modest lifestyle under the laws made by the crown...usually.
"I'll tell you what I'll do slave master," Sir Isaac turned to look at the reptile who was hissing quietly while showing himself off to the lapin female who was fighting hard not to blush at the scale-hide's rising erection as he offered himself up as a spectacle for the woman's pleasure. "I'll purchase both the Tarmenaan and the wolf from you for eighty gold coins and then I'll give you another twenty to give that ram his freedom but put him under your care as a laborer." The roo said while reaching for his purse and making a show of letting it jingle loudly to let the slave master know how serious he was.
"That's very generous of you." The man said while gritting his teeth. "Though I have to say that the price is rather low for the acquisition of two fine slaves like what you are wanting. Surely, you can pay..."
"I could also bring the guard down from the castle and let them know you're trying to push off incompetent slaves off on the nobility...if you insist." Isaac said while a smile peeling at his lips.
"SOLD!" The stout rodent said making many heads turn to look at him before he ran off into his oversized tent he had set up to house his stock and then returned with a step stool, rope and several keys while hurriedly making his way to the Tarmenaan to unlatch his chain.
It only took a matter of minutes before the slave master had the reptile and wolf unlocked and the rope tethered to their collars before he stepped over to the roo and handed two sets of leashes to him while holding out his other hand in wait. A nervous smile ticked on the edges of his lips as the mouse looked up at the taller kangaroo with his beady eyes shifting nervously, a faint hope that the other nobles around hadn't heard any of their conversation and even less of their dealings. Isaac fought desperately not to laugh outright as he opened his purse and counted out exactly one hundred gold coins before handing them over to the slave master and then taking up the reins for his two new acquisitions. Turning his head to look into the scarred face of the Tarmenaan and then to the happily panting muzzle of the wolf the roo nodded to them before looking back to the ram and then the slave master,
"Now then, you'll be sure to keep up your part of our bargain and put that ram in your employ won't you? I would hate it if the authorities came to do an inspection and found out that the quality of your wares was...less than up to standard."
"D-don't worry yourself sir, I'm an honest businessman who makes sure to abide by the laws of our great and noble empress." The mouse said boisterously as he noted several stares he was getting from the on looking crowd of nobles around his stand, many of them turning to talk to one another while tipping their heads in the mouse's direction.
"That's a wonderful thing to hear. I'll be back tomorrow then to see if there are any other purchases that suit my tastes; I might even bring the constable's lieutenant with me just to make sure that things are progressing smoothly. After all, to one businessman to another, we have to watch out for charlatans, don't we?"
"O-of course! Well then, I'll see you tomorrow milord." The mouse said before he went about his way and unlocked the chain that bound the ram and then lead the slow witted male back to his tent with some less than gentle prodding.
Knowing he couldn't win ever battle Isaac just grunted in annoyance before turning to look at the two slaves in his possession, both of which were staring at him with something akin to awe as they found their freedom from the slave master into their new owner's hands, and then sighed before walking away from the slave master's lot and leading them back towards his home.
In the time it had taken the kangaroo to walk from the dusty bazaar back to his property he had spoken to both of the males and had acquired a plethora of useless information from them that seemed to have been beaten into their skulls. Most of which were things about what they were capable of, not to mention their names, the Tarmenaan's being Saalutran while the wolf's being Lupirion, and what they had been trained to do both outside and inside of the house. The last part being so inconceivable that it made Isaac stumble in his steps before correcting himself and continuing, though a deep scarlet hue tinting his face as his sheath began to bloat the middle of his pants again.
Taking note and storing information away for later, the kangaroo spoke with both males at lengths about what he expected from the two of them and what he didn't expect from them before his feet finally stepped upon the ground of his modest home and a sigh of relief left him.
If it ever so humble, Isaac thought with some exhaustion as he walked onto the soft grass that made up the front of his three acre property and then forward towards the double story house that looked almost out of place in the wide expanse of land. Both the land and the house had all been handed down to Isaac from his father when the other had passed and it was the storehouse for the greatest treasures the roo could ever own, and as the door to the house suddenly opened one of those treasures came out at breakneck speeds in his direction. Dropping the leashes of the two slaves on instinct, Isaac prepared himself for what was to come with the biggest grin he could manage on his face.
The two slaves were once again in awe as they looked around and then watched the rolling strands of green sway listlessly back and forth in the wake of the afternoon breeze. If they had been able to gain a bird's eye-view of their new home the Tarmenaan and wolf would have seen that the space they were now privy too stretched on for almost a mile with nothing but trees framing the borders of Sir Isaac's land, but what did catch their eyes was something barreling forward at top speeds from the door of the home and coming towards their master like a archer's arrow. Both males reacted without thought,
For Isaac it was a surreal feeling to be hefted up by his shoulders and then placed behind the two slaves as they stood with fangs and claws bared at the oncoming storm bounding towards the three of them. Not that it did them much good because the storm bowled the two males to the side as it hopped up into the air, feet forward and yipping excitedly, before crashing into Isaac.
In the wake of what had happened the Tarmenaanin and wolf only got the chance to blink and shake their heads once they got up from off of the ground as they turned to look at their master and a smaller version of the roo that was hugging and rubbing against him lovingly.
"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" was the only thing discernable from the noise the little kangaroo was making as he rubbed and nuzzled himself into his father's embrace.
"Hello to you as well Daniel. Have you been a good boy today for Nan?" Isaac asked while hugging his son tightly into his chest.
"Yes, I was really good. I helped Nan wash the dishes and clean up the house and do the laundry and..."
"That's a good boy! You're going to grow up into a wonderful man at this rate!" Isaac gushed as he felt his son yip and hug him even more tightly.
The older roo let this continue for several moments before he set his son down and then turned to look at the two other males who were watching the entire scene in confusion. It was about this time that the younger roo noted that they had guests and turned his head upwards to look at the two slaves who were staring at him oddly.
"Daddy, who are these people?" The young roo inquired while shyly trying to hide behind his father's leg.
"I'll tell you once we get into the house. Why don't you go and get Nan and then we can all sit down together and talk." Isaac watched the younger version of himself nod rapidly and then bound away into the darker interior of the small house without looking back.
Turning his head and looking towards the two males on side of him Isaac wondered to himself just how complicated the coming days would be as he grabbed both slaves leashes and then lead them inside into his home.?
