Starting Over
"Oh good, you're awake!" came a voice over a speaker. Aisha's eyes blinked open slowly, her field of vision fuzzy from the sedatives. "My name is Akiera, and I'm one of the nurses here," she starts, walking down the hallway with the slightly shorter wolf by her side, "and you're Aisha, one of our newest patients. I've seen the photos, and I think the procedure worked marvelously well with you. Akiera giggled. "Shy?" she smiled, "Don't be. "I'll tell you more about that later." she said. "What matters now is this-- we've established a place for you to stay, here in the facility, with everything you need, even a brand new wardrobe. There's plenty of activities here to keep you occupied when you're not occupying yourself; breakfast is at nine, lunch at one, and dinnner is at seven. You CAN go off the facility if you want, but I'd reccomend you stay here for the first few months, get used to yourself first."
The two reached a hallway of doors and walked about a quarter of the way down. "Ah, here we are. Room 226, yours for the duration of your stay. You have your own living area, bedroom, and private bath." She smiles, and presses her thumb to the touchpad, which glowed yellow, then a button on her wristwatch and it flashed green. "Give me your hand, Aisha," Akiera said quietly, taking the wolfess' offered paw and pressing her thumb to the pad, which stayed steady green. "Okay, now it's programmed for you. Whenever you want to open it from the outside just touch your thumb to the pad." she smiles, opening the door and stepping in after the wolfess. "The staff can open any door here, but we don't do it without a reason, so you won't have to worry about being walked in on."
Aisha was already gone, looking through the room with wonder. There was a computer with a screen that also doubled as a TV, a big green couch, a coffee table and chairs, and a small kitchen area. She darted from room to room in her blue robe, and Akiera just giggled. "Silly girl!" she smiled, giving chase. The bedroom was well furnished, a nice big bed and a dresser, and walk in closet. "Oh, Aisha! You'll want to see this!" smiled Akiera, opening the sliding door to the walk in closet and turning on the light. "Look at these!"
Aisha stopped dead in front of the closet door and gasped. Clothes. Lots of clothes.... dresses, tops, skirts, gowns; practically every kind of clothing a girl could ever want or have a need for. Akiera giggled again, smiling. She shrugged, she'd figure it out later. "Any outfits you like, you can take with you when you leave. Oh!" "You'll need this pendant. It does a lot of things. It will glow green when it unlocks a door that you have access to, blue when someone is at your door, and yellow if someone on staff is looking for you. It also lets us see where you are, so if you get lost or need help, just open the top of the crystal and press the button inside, and one of us will find you. I've been assigned to you while you're here, so you'll probably be seeing me a lot." She smiled and hugged Aisha lightly. "Well, sweetie, that's pretty much the basics, and you'll want to explore... welcome to your new life as your true self, hon." Akiera smiled and let herself out, locking the door behind her.
"Mmm... I wonder.." Aisha thought to herself, going through one of the racks. She pulled a pleated, purple skirt from one side, and a nice, white top from the other, and a blue and red scarf.
