Rory has to come clean to Peter...how will he take it?

Hello, everyone!

Here's the next chapter. It took me three tries to write it, and I'm not perfectly happy with it yet, either, but I felt like I have to do it or I'll simply get stuck and go nowhere, so this is it! Hopefully you still enjoy the continuing saga of Rory and those close to him.

Comments are especially welcome on this chapter, so if you have anything to say, don't hesitate!

Have a fun read!

My eyes widened hugely when Peter popped the question, so innocently, so purringly, and so Rory-bustingly, that my maw simply fell open, briefly. I tensed a little, something he must have felt through our snuggle position, and my tail batted the side of the couch, agitated with my nervous shock that blasted through me at a record speed.

For a brief moment the only sound was the tough military stuff spouting off the television, and I tried my best to hold Peter's gaze and keep my expression level, as I wondered how to explain Victor to the cougar who kept looking at me, questioningly.

I' m not even sure why it felt difficult. We both had boyfriends before, we never were boyfriends, we didn't...we were a lot of things and are a lot of things, but there was an equal number of things we never were, and that was always a sensitive point, whenever these things came up between us. We had each other and then we also didn't, and we had other furs in our lives who weren't part of this, and then...and then...and...

Yeah, I wasn't so sure how to explain Victor, how I had lusted after him, how he had ruled over my thoughts simply by his existence, and how we were now...dancing around each other, trying to figure out just what we were, and what we could be, given time and effort put into finding things out.

Peter prodded my ribs with his paw.

"Come on, Rowreeh," the cougar snuffled.

I flicked my ears.

"He's a friend...kinda," I added, with a small smile.

Peter chuckled.

"There are no '...kinda' friends, not even on Facebook," Peter noted with a tilted head and a cocked ear.

I shook my head a little.

Peter snuffled and prodded my side again.

"Silly cat," Peter leaned back on the couch a little, taking control of the discussion, by having me look down on him, requiring some effort from me to keep the posture comfortable, which meant that he had the upper paw, and that's how he wanted it to be, obviously, now that I was being barbequed about my relationship with Victor Holden, BeE.

Butt Enthusiast Extraordinaire.

I pouted a little.

"Come on, Rory, I know how you talk about furs you have sex with, and I've had sex with you, and I definitely can tell that you've had some sex with that Victor dude as well," Peter pointed out as he reclined back, his wrapped-up leg resting against my knee now.

I shrugged.

"Yeah."

"Ha!" Peter yelped.

I scowled, and Peter snuffled, and smirked at me.

"I didn't know that you have a regular lay," Peter said.

My ears jumped again, prompting Peter to tap my arm with his paw, and leer at me.

"No need to be shy about fuck buddies, Rory, we kinda have history on that, don't we?"

I snuffled.

"Didn't you just denounce 'kinda' as being non-existent?" I gave him a look, and patted his arm in return, trying to keep the situation as calm and casual as possible and not let myself get into any kind of shit about it, if that could be avoided.

"Only when someone tries to avoid a topic by saying it," Peter's gaze penetrated me with lubed ease and made my tail flick about again.

I could only nod.

"What was that phone call about, if I may ask?"

It was such a direct, simple question, that there was hardly any way to wriggle my ass out it, really. These topics were some we had gone through so many times in the past that not talking about it would definitely raise suspicions and cause bad blood between us, and that was the last thing we needed, and I was determined to keep it that way, too.

"He wanted to know when we might meet up again. I told that I was taking care of you at the moment and didn't know yet when I'm free."

Peter raised a brow.

"He knows me?"

I tickled Peter's arm, softly.

"I told him that I was taking care of a friend, nothing more specific," I replied.

"Uh, okay."

"Yeah, that's it."

We were still for a little moment before Peter spoke again.

"Are you...dating or something, you and this Victor?"

I rubbed the back of my neck and gave Peter a long look.

"I don't know," I replied, sitting back on the couch, careful with Peter's leg over my thighs, and adjusted it a little, so that he was as comfortable as possible, and I kept his eyes, as we regarded one another.

"Is it just for the sex then?"

What a question. I couldn't deny that the sex was scorching hot and ball-busting, but...I guess there was something else to it as well. Victor was a nice guy, and we could talk casually about stuff, and laugh, and be friendly, and eat together, and have sex...but was it...was it more? Maybe it was, or maybe it wasn't, I wasn't so sure yet.

"There's been some, yeah," I replied.

"Where did you meet?"

I felt a hint of pint over my cheeks at the question, and wondered what Peter might think of my admission, which I was ready to make, however.

"At the Ramrod."

Peter guffawed.

"You went to chase tail!" the puma seemed to find the idea of me in a gay bar suddenly very hilarious, much to my chuffing surprise.

"Not really," I mused, idly, even while Peter kept on chuckling to himself.

"Nobody goes to the Ramrod unless they want to cottage," Peter snuffled.

I gave him a look.

"It's a clean place nowadays," I replied, "straight-friendly too, apparently, I understand, mind you."

Peter rubbed over his eyes and then gave a clear, amused look.

"Okay, so you went to the Ramrod not to fuck and still got a fuck?"

I shrugged.

"Pretty much," I noted. "I just wanted a drink, but then I started to talk with this hunky Doberman and...and...well, I thought he was after my ass, after a while, but then he suddenly said that he really was the one who wanted it up the ass and...well, I took the offer."

Peter slapped my legs with his tail.

"You've gone over to the doghouse..." Peter smirked toothily.

"You would've gone after a piece of tail on a 200-pound muscle hunk too, I bet," I felt an odd need to defend my choice of a partner, even if I knew that Peter was teasing me for the fun of teasing, because he could, and would get away with just about anything.

"Perhaps," Peter mused, "is he fun in bed?"

He sure never was too modest, either.

"Yeah, he's fun," I replied.

"Fun enough that you decided to do it again, eh?" Peter questioned.

"Well, not really," I said, letting my mind wander to those strange hazy days of lusting after another go at that Dobie butt, while it was just that, almost...a piece of very attractive flesh, which I now knew to be connected to a quite charming personality, as well. "But I...well...I looked him up on Facebook."

"You stalked him?" Peter's eyes widened a little in turn.

"It's not stalking if you know someone's name!" I chuckled.

Peter prodded my side with his paw.

"Maybe not, but it still is," he stated, before he relaxed back on his corner of the couch again. "And you've been doing this for how long?"

I gave Peter a thoughtful look.

"We've had one date after that first time, and...well..."...my cheeks flared with heat as I recalled the tragedy that was our oh so perfect first date. "...it wasn't too big of a success."

"Oh?"

I snuffled.

"His brother decided to pay him a surprise visit while I was balls deep in him, if you really must know," my ears flattened at the BRAINHURTING MEMORY OF THE INCIDENT THAT INVOLVED A VERY FRIENDLY AND VERY CURIOUS DOBIE BROTHER WHO IS ALL IN FOR SUPPORTING HIS FAG BROTHER AND HEY HEY DON'T FORGET HIS HANDSOME AND GOOD BROTHER COBB EITHER!

"Say, what?"

I gave him a gravely nod.

"Victor's brother apparently invited himself in for a visit for two weeks, which kinda makes it hard to see someone when your brother is following your every move."

Peter snickered.

"And he...he caught you in bed? Right in the act?" the cougar investigated.

"Oh, fuck no," I huffed, my ears flat enough with the memory as it was, "but it was ridiculous, he was shouting and being a total idiot..."

"Did he have some problem with it, you know?"

I shook my head, quickly.

"Not as far as I understand, but it was just...mad," I snorted.

"So when did this happen, anyway?"

"Last week," I replied.

"Oh," Peter rubbed his chin.

I stroked over Peter's legs, resting over mine as they were, and watched him quietly, wondering what he was thinking about this all. I wasn't at all sure of his possible disposition towards Victors, especially in this new situation where he was relying on me a great deal and George was no longer...and...it was complicated.

"Why do I get the feeling that you didn't really want to tell me about it, Rowreeh?" he spoke, then, as if he had read my very thoughts.

My tail jumped a little with surprise, but I tried to keep his eyes, calmly.

"It didn't really feel...that important."

Peter snorted.

"I wasn't about to go after him on a jealous rampage if that was what you were afraid of, Rory," Peter gave me a dirty look. "You haven't had anyone since Graham, it's about time, isn't it?"

I shook my head and felt my ears drop.

"He's nothing like Graham."

"Good!" Peter yelped. "We don't need another Graham."

I chuckled, briefly.

"He's the anti-Graham, really," my fingers traced over his calf, the good one, slowly.

"Good to hear that."

I snuffled.

"So are you dating or not?" Peter restated his question to me.

"I...I suppose we are, I think," I replied, "I mean, he asked me out to see his hockey game, and...well, we did have sex afterwards but...he wanted me to have other kind of fun with him as well..."

"Did you have fun?"

"Yeah," I said, and smiled a little, "I mean, he's really good."

"He plays hockey?"

"For fun, yeah, "I mused. "He was pretty good."

"Is he smart too?"

"Yeah, he's smart."

Peter chuckled, and nodded, before his face and ears calmed down.

"Do you think he sees it the same way? More than just sex?"

I rubbed Peter's leg with my thumb as I wondered about my answer to the question.

"It's really early, you know, I'm not...I'm not sure about anything yet."

"You already met his brother!" Peter interjected, amusedly.

I snorted and flicked my ears at him.

"It was more like his brother meeting me," I huffed. "It wasn't a conscious choice to mingle with his family."

"Fair enough," Peter chuckled.

Pulse rifles were making quite the noise and flash on the television, and it caught my eyes for a moment, watching all the hell break loose, while my mind was deep in consideration over our discussion. Wasn't this now the second time that the Victor bubble had been broken, exposing him to the rest of the life of Rory Gliese? Haakon knew Victor, and through that, Mason was sure to know about Victor knowing me, and now I had told Peter...or, he had caught me in the act, more like. Whatever the way, he now knew that Victor existed, and that he was having some sort of an effect on me, and my life. Peter deserved to know, of course he did, there was little we didn't know about one another, and I felt moderately guilty for not telling him before...but to apologize about it also felt weird. It might make Peter feel uneasy, too, and I didn't want to do that, not now when things were raw. I wasn't quite sure just how fragile Peter might be, especially when it came to me, and I didn't want to find out by accidentally hurting him.

"Rory?"

"Yeah?"

"Could you get me one of those pills, please? My leg is starting to get a bit more sore than before."

I gave him a quick nod.

"Yeah, sure, "I smiled, and carefully arranged Peter's legs off to the side comfortably while I got up and went to the kitchen to fetch the medicine and a glass of water.

Peter was watching the movie with keen interest when I came back and handed my offering to him, which he accepted with a smile before gulping it down. I sat next to him and kept watching him, curiously, and a little bit worriedly, now that there was something new in our little world, and I wasn't quite sure just how Victor fit into the equation. Peter put his legs up again, and I welcomed them with a smile and a rub over them, wanting to help him relax again, and feel comfortable. I wasn't paying too much attention to the movie to be honest, I couldn't help but wonder about this all, and what was going on in Peter's head, regarding my entanglement with Victor.

"Peter..." I tried, softly.

"Yes, Rowreeh?"

I looked at him, carefully.

"You okay?"

Peter raised his brow.

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"I don't know," I shrugged.

"I'm not going go crazy again, don't you worry about it."

"Yeah, well..."

"I don't mind you going out with that guy, why would I? You sound happy when you talk about him, even if you try to hide it," Peter noted.

I snuffled, and knew that there was no hiding things from Peter. Yeah, he knew me too well for that to be even remotely possible, and he had caught me again, seen through any semblance of coyness and gotten straight into my inner thoughts, and here he was, questioning me again.

I scratched the side of my head.

"Maybe it feels a bit more real now that I've told someone about it," I confessed, softly.

"Maybe, yeah," the reclining cougar noted, and patted my nearby arm with his paw. "Glad you told me. He sounds like a lot of fun for you."

"He is, but..."

"It's early, yeah, and you don't want complications in case it collapses, and yeah, and yeah," Peter cut in, drawling along.

I snuffled.

"Of course, yeah, of course, and maybe you'd even warned me about seeing a jock, or something like that."

"Didn't you just say that he's not a jock?" Peter jabbed me.

"I did," I nodded.

"Believe me, Rory," Peter started, taking a hold of my arm and squeezing it, light, "I'm really glad to see you like this, you know."

My ears flicked back.

"What, all jumpy and shy?" I replied.

"Yeah!" Peter chuckled.

I pouted.

"Just like that," Peter continued. "Because you've been so low since Graham that nothing's really been getting at you, but now you're all giddy!"

"I am?" I sounded puzzled.

"Yes you are," Peter smirked. "I like it."

"I didn't know you liked it," I chuffed.

"Of course I do, you're Rowreeh, and I like this Rowreeh the best, if I can have a choice."

I chuckled a little.

"So which one's this?"

Peter licked his lips.

"The usual Silly-Rory combined with just enough of the Gay Candy Shop Rory for it to show."

I wasn't too sure about either of the terms, but I knew that Peter had a way with words and would surely supplement interesting definitions as well, if asked.

"Go on then," I thumbed his chest lightly. "How do they manifest themselves?"

I could take it.

"Silly-Rory is the usual state, and don't you deny that!" he waved a pa at me. "And then there's the Candy Shop Rory, who is very enthusiastic and ready to embark on adventures of sexual nature, preferably in the company of interesting gentlemen who are willing to let him explore his burgeoning homosexuality."

I shook my head a little and couldn't help but chuckle.

"You make it sound really dirty somehow," I noted.

"You can't deny it, can you?"

"Of course not, why would I? I like sex just like anyone else. It's fun, and it's natural."

"Of course it is," Peter smiled. "Even if it's not with me."

I felt an odd, painful clench in my stomach, and my eyes jumped to Peter's, as I watched him carefully, trying to see if he was joking or...if it was something more, more...accusing, or dark, or unpleasant or unfortunate. I wasn't sure what I was seeing in those bright eyes that looked back to me, although his paw did not leave from my arm, nor did he make a move, or said anything else for the moment.

Peter seemed to notice, though, because soon he spoke.

"Not that I mind it with me, though."

He wasn't smiling, but I tried, a little, and rubbed my paw over his chest, gently.

"Of course I don't mind," I replied, trying to give him an encouraging smile.

Peter's paw closed around my wrist and held it, lightly, as he looked to me, firmly.
