#10 of My days with Alex

It's finally date time for our wolf

Hello everyone! Here's the next chapter in MDWA! Things may or may not go a bit slower in the future as I want to take time to enjoy the summer, but we'll see how things goes. :) Remember to comment, vote, fav etc. Have fun!

As we passed furs, buildings, trees and other cars I couldn't help but to think about what to say or do during our dinner. The taxi ride was taking a bit longer than expected due to there being a lot of traffic out right now, and I was tapping my paws against my thighs impatiently as I looked out the window and watched us drive past a lot of the same buildings that I would drive past every morning and afternoon when driving too and from work.

I was feeling nervous to meet Alex again and I shifted myself a little in my seat as my stupid little mind couldn't help but to go through some of the possible bad scenarios that could end up happening during our date. For a split moment I even found myself imagining Scott showing up, for whatever reason, and ruining everything. It was a silly thought and not very likely to happen, as he couldn't possibly know I was going out with someone tonight nor could he know where we'd be going.

But then again, maybe he was going out as well and in some terrible fate of events we ended up going to the same place.

Of course, that was so unlikely to happen that I just shrugged the thought of and went on to just think of any other bad possible situations to happen.

I guess I was stupid like that and just couldn't sometimes help but to think about the bad things.

I had, of course, gone through the positive situations that could happen too. Everything could go just fine and we'd maybe go home together after our dinner to share each other's company for the night. Maybe things went well but we just decided to hug or maybe give each other a goodnight kiss and then head back to our own places.

To me it seemed like it was fairly limited how any positive situation would turn out though, which I guess was why my stupid brain turned to think about how it could turn out badly.

There seemed to be a ton more bad direction that the date could take than there were good ones. Either of us could end up saying or doing the wrong things. We could be interrupted by something that ended up in us not really feeling it anymore. There could be unwelcome furs showing up (like Scott) ruining things. If we had some wine and got buzzed we maybe ended up acting or doing things the restaurant frowned upon and threw us out, which maybe resulted in us blaming each other for getting thrown out.

Bah, I was a stupid wolf for thinking things like that. They say that if you concentrate too much on the negative then that's also what your mind will be fixed on, and the bad things will be more likely to happen since you end up doing the things you don't want to. The unconsciousness, and the mind in general, has difficulty with understanding the concept of "don't do this" or "can't do that", as it can't really visualize not doing something. It can only visualize doing it or doing something else completely. And when you think about not saying the wrong things you see yourself doing it rather than not doing it and you end up doing it.

Of course, all of this was just some philosophical rubbish I had found while idly browsing Wikipedia when being bored. I didn't know if it had any merit, if it had any "scientific" research backing it up or anything like that. It could just really be a bunch of hogwash that some stoners had figured out back in the 70's while being high on various substances.

"We'll be there in a minute".

My ears perked and I was pulled back to reality when I heard the cab driver speak to me. I sat up in my seat and I shook my head for a second and then decided to check for any wrinkles on my clothes. I had ironed everything out and knew that it should all just look fine, but I guess it was the nerves that made me want to make sure again. I gave myself a sniff under my armpits to make sure I didn't smell and since I was only met with the faint scent of my deodorant I thought that things seemed good enough.

As we finally came to a stop I swallowed nervously for a moment before I handed the money over to the cab driver to pay for my fare and then got out of the cab.

"Have a good night" he said before he drove off and I was left standing there on the sidewalk. I fished my phone out of my pocket to check the time. The ride had taken a bit longer than expected, but there was still almost twenty minutes left until we were supposed to meet up. I guess I had decided to go a little bit too early and that I was in for some waiting, but that didn't matter much.

It gave me some time to maybe chase my nerves away.

There were no actual roads going through the city center and I had to walk for a little bit to get there from the spot where the driver had dropped me off. I hit some buttons on my phone to keep it in silent mode so that we wouldn't be disturbed by any phone calls or text messages. I started making my way towards the city center and I did my best to clear my head from any negative thoughts.

It was supposed to be a nice night out with a nice tiger that I'd be enjoying some nice food together with, so it was definitely for the best to leave any bad thoughts alone and instead indulge in the nice ones.

The walk to get to the city center only took a minute, at most, and soon I watched at the familiar buildings, vendor stands, shops, restaurants and other curiosities that were surrounding it. In the middle of the whole area there was a large fountain which often served as the meeting spot for many of the furs meeting up to go out to do stuff together. I didn't recall if we had decided to meet by the fountain, but I guessed that was the case.

I took a walk around it to find that Alex hadn't arrived yet, which wasn't very surprising considering I had arrived pretty damn early. I decided to just take a walk around the whole area and look through the various shop windows to spend the time while I waited for him to show up. I saw furs chatting with each other and some of them even holding hands or kissing, and I smiled a bit to myself as I hoped that that's maybe what me and Alex could look like before the night was through.

Of course, we wouldn't be the normal sight of a straight couple kissing. Nope, we'd be the sight of to gay guys kissing and probably catching a few looks from furs that wasn't used to or maybe just didn't like seeing two dudes going at it.

Not that I imagined the two of us would mind too much, especially if we were buzzed on wine.

I chuckled a bit at these thoughts as I kept walking and looking at the various street vendors' stuff and looking through shop windows. The place wasn't overly big though and it didn't take that long before I found myself standing by the fountain again. There were benches placed all around it and I put my ass down on one of the empty ones and put my right leg over the other as I sat there and waited while I let my mind get engrossed by Alex related thoughts.

I saw him before he saw me.

My tail wagged and my whole body perked up as I, after just sitting there for a little while, saw the striped feline enter the area and was heading for the fountain. He hadn't noticed me yet and I got up from the bench and started walking towards him. I started feeling nervous again, but seeing him right now and knowing that he had indeed showed up made it feel easier. And when he smiled as he noticed me I could feel a bit of warmness go through me that pushed some of the nervousness away.

"Hey, Alex!"

I waved a paw at him as we walked towards each other and he waved a paw back at me. I saw his striped tail sway behind him and I guessed that he must've been happy to see me as well.

"Hi Robert!"

We stopped as we reached other and I couldn't help but to take a good look at him. His fur looked clean and neat and let out the faintest scent of some nice shampoo and I could even feel the slight scent of some nice cologne. He looked as good as I remembered, and he smelled good too!

He had dressed quite casually just like I had, but I couldn't help but to notice that the black pants he was wearing seemed to sit rather tightly. Hell, all of his clothes I think seemed to show him off rather well and it did gave my mind some special images that I probably shouldn't be thinking at the moment.

And if he had had his back turned, his rump would've probably been shown off real good...

Shit, I shouldn't think about that right now.

"You look... great!"

I blushed just a little bit as I complimented him and I heard him let out a soft purr at the compliment.

"You don't look too bad yourself, handsome..."

I saw him wink at me and my heart skipped a beat as it was obvious he was already flirting a bit with me. My tail wagged a bit more excitedly and I didn't quite know what to say or do for a few seconds.

"Did you wait long?"

My ears flicked a bit at his question. I had waited for a while, but that was my own fault for getting here so early.

"A while. But I got here early. Didn't want to risk getting stuck in traffic and end up getting late."

He gave a chuckle and purred softly at me.

"So, shall we get going then?"

He flashed me a smile before he turned a bit and started walking towards a, to me, unknown location. I caught a quick glimpse of his rump currently being hidden by those pants that showed it off rather well, and I kinda wanted to just reach out and give it a good squeeze.

I repressed that urge though and instead just quickly walked up next to him and followed, my ears picking up more purring sounds coming from him.

"Had a good day?"

He turned to look at me with a smile as he asked his question and I looked back at him, hesitating about what to tell him. It had been a good day with... well, with the exception of Scott popping up just like that and almost ruining everything. Alex didn't need to hear about that though, I thought, and the day had been pretty good apart from that.

I returned his smile as I spoke.

"It was alright. Just the usual coding work. Spent a lot of it thinking about our dinner."

From the corner of my eye I could see his tail give a few happy sways and I wagged my own tail a bit.

"How was yours?"

"It was pretty slow, as I too was thinking about this dinner and was feeling pretty excited about it!"

He gave me another wink and I smiled a bit broader as the knowledge about the tiger having been thinking about the date a lot as well reached me. I felt his tail nudge my own for a moment and whether it was intentional or not I found myself blushing a little bit again at that quick touch.

Man, it sure was a long time since I went on a date considering that something as small as that made me blush.

"Sounds like it was a good day in general though?"

"Yup! Although I didn't have a whole lot to do. Thinking about going out with a wolf was a good way of spending the day though!"

He gave me a warm smile and I felt my heart beat just a little bit harder for a moment. And I guess I was feeling more nervous than I had initially thought, because I didn't quite know what to say.

"So where are you taking us then?" I asked him after a moment that perhaps dragged out just a little bit too long. Or at least it felt like it did to me.

He held his paw out and pointed towards a building not too far away.

"A place called the Empty plate."

I looked over at the direction he was pointing. It wasn't too far away and I could just about make out the name of the restaurant we were heading towards. The Empty plate didn't seem that great a name though...

"Don't worry about the name. It's only called that because their plates are indeed usually empty once their guests are done eating. I also think the owner just has an absolutely terrible sense for restaurant names."

He chuckled at his last words and I chuckled with him. I felt our tails nudge each other again and I was sure it was deliberate this time and I flashed him a look to see if he was showing anything special about the little motion. He just smiled at me though.

I hadn't been to this restaurant before despite often being to this particular part of the city, and I did have a few wonders about it.

"How's the food there?"

He shrugged a little bit before answering my question.

"It has good food, and at a good price too! I think you'll like it."

He kept smiling at me and I thought that he must be pretty happy to go out with me since he was smiling so much. Of course, I couldn't do much else but to smile as well.

"Well if you think it's a good enough place to take us too then I'm sure it's a good place!"

We walked the last few steps up to the restaurant doors and we stopped for a bit, mostly to let me just take a little look. Just by looking through the windows it looked like a nice enough place and I was sure it was gonna end up being a nice place for this date of ours.

"Ladies first?"

He chuckled a bit at his own bad joke as he held up the door for me. I raised an eyebrow but decided to just play along.

"You're quite the gentleman, aren't you?"

I stepped in and he quickly followed while giving a soft laugh. I had a feeling he was checking my backside out a bit as he stood behind me. I didn't mind it, of course, and as he stepped forward to lead the way towards the counter to talk with the waiter manning it I could feel his tail brush up against my rump. My tail wagged again as I started following him.

"Good evening! How can I help you?" the ferret waiter asked as Alex approached him.

"I had booked a table for two. Alex Leigh."

The ferret looked down on the restaurants list of booked tables and he nodded as he probably saw Alex's name on there.

"Right. Follow me!"

The waiter started making his way towards our booked table and we both followed with Alex taking the lead once more. Having him walk in front of me was certainly not something I minded though, as it gave me ample opportunity to check out what I knew to be a great ass that currently was hidden underneath his pants.

"Here we are!" the ferret said as he pulled out the two chairs by the table he had taken us to. It had a typical red tablecloth on it and two wine glasses. Other than that, there currently wasn't anything on it. It was by the windows and I could see furs going about their own business outside.

"Sit down and I'll be right back with menus for both of you!"

We sat down on our chairs and just sat there and looked at each other for a few moments. He looked handsome (and hot) and I considered myself lucky for having gotten to go out on a date with him.

"This place looks nice!" I told him to break the silence between us.

His ears flicked a little bit and he smiled a bit broader at me.

"I was hoping you would like it!"

"And it's easy to get to as well, at least from the city center."

"Yup! I quite like it!"

The ferret returned with our menus before we could say anything else and he fished a small note block and a pen from a pocket, standing ready to take our orders.

Alex flashed me another smile before he opened his menu. I proceeded to do the same.

"You got any recommendations today?"

I looked up as I heard Alex ask. The ferret thought for a moment.

"Well today's special is the house's very own grilled salmon served with grilled, fried or boiled potatoes. I also hear we've got some exceptional beef wellington tonight. And if you'd perhaps just want some food quickly then we have a few different soups prepared and ready to be served."

I flicked my ears at these different suggestions and I look down at the menu, not quite sure what to settle for. I could hear Alex let out a slight "mming" sound before he spoke up again.

"I'll have some of that beef wellington."

"Very good!" the ferret said and scribbled something on his noteblock.

I felt their eyes turn to me as I kept trying to decide what to go for.

"Uhm..."

I just... didn't know what to go for.

"I'll... I'll have the same."

I flashed Alex a quick smile.

"Beef wellington?"

"Yep."

"Very well." the ferret said once more and once again wrote something down on the note block.

"And what would you like to drink?"

He turned to Alex first and Alex quickly went through the drinks menu.

"I'll just have some water and maybe..."

He stopped for a moment and turned to look at me again.

"Maybe some red wine?"

I smiled at him and gave a small nod to show my approval. Some wine would definitely be nice to go with the food.

The ferret nodded again and then turned to me.

"And what would you like, sir?"

"I'll share the water and wine with him."

I saw Alex smile warmly at me and the ferret once again nodded.

"What wine would you like to drink?"

The ferret was addressing both of us now and I read through the drinks menu again. I didn't know much about wines, and I don't think Alex did either as I looked up and saw give a wondering look.

"We'll have what the house recommends." I told the ferret after a few uncomfortably silent moments. Alex looked up and gave me a nod.

"Very good! Your beef wellington will take some time to prepare but in the meantime you can help yourself to the salad buffet."

The ferret gestured towards a buffet set up on the other side of the restaurant.

"I'll go and get the wine and I'll also get some bread for you as appetizers."

The ferret gave a little bow and we said thank you and were then left alone.

"You want to go get some salad?" I asked Alex after a moment of silence.

"Sure!"

We both got up and headed over to the salad buffet.

"This place is quite nice! I don't go out to restaurants much, but right now I can see myself coming here again."

Alex chuckled a bit at my words while he helped himself to some different salads. Having already had a chicken salad today, I wasn't too interested in eating much salad but I took a plate and helped myself to some of the standard salads.

"I've been here a couple of times but it's not often I get to have the company of guys like you with me!"

Well he was flirting again, that's for sure, and I could feel his tail brush against my rump again as we stood there and got ourselves the salad. I wondered for a moment whether some of the other restaurant guests noticed, but worrying about that wasn't something I wanted to do. Instead I just flashed a quick grin at him at his gesture and words.

"I find that hard to believe. Someone with your looks probably have an easy time finding guys in this city!"

He purred softly at my compliment and we both started walking back towards the table as we both had gotten the salad we wanted.

"Well just because I can get guys that doesn't mean I'll go out with just anyone."

He smiled and gave me a wink. I blushed a little bit, again feeling lucky to get to be going out with him.

We sat down and before we could start enjoying our salads the ferret returned with our drinks and the bread.

"Here you go!" he said as he put down two wine glasses as well as two smaller glasses for the water. He then put down a small basket filled with both white and dark bread and he also put down some butter for us. He opened up the bottle of wine he had taken with him and poured some into both of our glasses.

"Your food will be ready soon. If there's anything you need then don't be afraid to call for me."

And with that he took his leave. I took a look at the wine glass and wondered what the red liquid would taste like. I guess Alex noticed because I saw him reach his paw out to pick up his own glass.

"For a nice dinner and a fun man-date?"

I gave a chuckle and smiled at him as I reached my own paw out to pick up my own glass.

"For a nice dinner and a fun date!"

We tapped our glasses against one another as we toasted and then we both sipped on the wine, a purring noise escaping him when the liquid hit his lips while I let out a soft, appreciative rumble.
