Through the years part 1
A hungry fox sat down to dinner. Enjoying a fine meal he and his father had cooked up. His name was Kanic, a fox who lived with his father yet. He has four other siblings, three brothers and one sister. One of his brothers was a twin, fraternal, but still a twin, and Kanic was glad he didn't have a clone of himself walking around. He was older than his twin but had joined the military two years earlier when he was still in high school. His twin and his other siblings had moved out already, his twin and oldest brother in college yet, his sister graduated from college and married already with a child. Kanic is a fox, nothing really sticks out on him, except for the white patches of fur on the tops of his toes and two black patches of fur, one each, above his knees.
His father leaned over to him and said, "What time do you need to be down there again?" Kanic's eyes sprang open in surprise, slowly chewing on some corn.
"Oh yea, around seven thirty",
"Oh ok, just so I know", his father said politely. Kanic then slowed down his pace as he ate up the last of the chicken dinner. He walked over to the sink and dropped his plate in, making a small bang as it touched the side of the sink. His father handed him a salad dressing bottle and he tossed it in the fridge.
Kanic then made his way upstairs to pack his things he needed for his duty weekend. He grabbed the neatly folded duffel bag from the closet and opened it up, and slowly began to gather his gear. First the sleeping bag and pillow, he knew he would be staying there overnight. He searched the bottom drawer of his dresser, angrily growling,
"Come on, where are they." He was looking for his tan T-shirts that he had to wear with his uniform. He reached down to the bottom when his paw felt something familiar. Kanic's face lit up in excitement as his paw picked at what he found. He got a hold of it and pulled it out of the dresser. His look of excitement quickly turned to disgust as he saw what he found. It was a pair of the military issue tan colored tighty whiteys he had to wear back at boot camp, as they didn't allow civilian clothes of any kind.
Kanic tossed the garment aside and then went back into the dresser again. He then found what he was looking for. As well as something else he needed. He pulled out two pairs of green socks and two tan T-shirts. A smile cracked on the fox's face.
"Good, good", he said as he nodded to himself. His ears perked up as he knew where his PT (Physical Training)clothes were. He jumped down to the floor and looked under his bed, and quickly pulled out his shorts, shirts, pants, and jacket. He then stuffed them into his duffel bag. He grabbed his running shoes and a pair of white socks and dropped them in. Grabbed a spare uniform and threw that in there as well. The fox's eyes popped open again with surprise.
"Shoot, that gas mask, I need to turn in" he scowled. He found it quickly next to the bed and tossed it in.
Kanic saw the time and decided to have some fun first before he hopped into bed and drifted off to sleep. He woke up to the sound of his watch alarm going off. To Kanic, it felt like he closed his eyes for a mere second and woke back up again, except it was five thirty AM and time to get up.
"Ughhh", he groaned, holding a paw to his forehead and shaking his head, "Shouldn't have played so much 360 last night", he had stayed up till about two AM playing his games. He slowly rose to his feet and jumped in the shower. After he got done, he clipped off the excess fur around his neck, cheeks, and muzzle. He needed to hold a professional looking attire. He then brushed his teeth and gathered up his personal hygiene items and packed them away. He put on his uniform, tied his boots, loaded up his gear and relaxed as his father drove him to duty.
The duty day was pretty normal, Kanic's job is computer and IT related services for the military, he sat at his computer and monitored the networks for any malicious activity, as well as helping anybody who got locked out of their accounts or whose emails weren't working. It was about three thirty PM now and the little sleep he got started to hit him. He yawned, and stood up a bit to stretch.
"Hey sergeant, I'm gonna go grab a soda quick, I'll be right back",
"No problem soldier", his sergeant replied. He threw on his patrol cap and walked over to the soda machine near the chow hall. He retrieved his soda and quickly gulped it down. It was three thirty PM now and the other soldiers were dismissed for the day and Kanic retrieved his gear for the night and went to the supply sergeant.
"Hey sergeant, I'm gonna stay on the supply room bed again", he said with a smirk
"Ok soldier, just don't make a mess of things in there". Kanic unpacked his sleeping bag and threw it out across the mattress, then laid the pillow down. He fished through his bag and found his book he was reading at the time. He cracked open the book and got lost in its pages very quickly. After about two hours the soda's caffeine was wearing off and Kanic decided to relax a bit more. The fox unzipped his uniform top and laid it aside. Went down to his boots and pulled them off, and then pulled off his socks to get his feet some air.
"Ahhhh" he moaned, he liked the air flow going past his feet. He lied down and sprawled out on the bed and quickly drifted off. After what seemed like a good rest, Kanic awoke and checked his watch. Midnight... the least of the times he would want to have woken up. His stomach gurgled a bit and he felt thirsty. He slowly strolled down the hall to the water fountain and drank some much needed water, a bit of water getting on his muzzle. Feeling better, the fox went back to the bed to try and go back to sleep, but to no avail. Kanic took in a deep breath and sighed, then putting his paw up to his face and shaking his head in disgust,
"This is gonna be a long day", Kanic turned over on his side and just lied there, angry and bored.
