Werewolves Bite (Chapter One?)
I felt in the mood to write something so this is what was created... Tell if I should continue or not. This was kind of fun to write though. Well, so hope you enjoy! Also, just let me know if I have any spelling errors. I type too fast and then I have to upload this on IE because Chrome won't let me copy and paste...
"Don't be an idiot, Kara! There's nothing out there!" I was looking out my window, my eyes fixed on that shape. That shape I would later come to know as an ally in what was to come. I didn't know that at this time though. All I knew was that there was someone out there. Who they were, I didn't know. I was snapped out of my dreamlike state of wondering as I was hit across the face by a hand. The force was enough to send me to the ground. I snarled at that person above me. My sister. Like she had ever been much of a sibling to me. She treated me like I was some kind of... of animal. All because of my tendencies to act doglike. Was that really a reason to put a person down? If so, she had so many things I could put down.
The next day, I found myself walking off the path I usually took to school. I didn't realize it until it was too late to go back. I checked my watch about the time I realized and I cursed quietly as I read 10:30 A.M. School had already started two hours ago. There was no use arriving late. It would only bring bad things that I didn't feel like contending with. I just kept walking, enjoying the sounds of nature, as I had wandered into a forest on that way I seemed to have gone. The trees rustled a breeze kicked up. It smelled so cool and fresh. It had just rained recently so that wasn't surprising. I heard a howl pierce the silence and I snapped out of my state at that howl. I only caught the end of it, but by the tone of it, that wolf was in pain. I was never able to ignore an animal in pain. Animals had always been the world to me, from the first hamster I owned, to even the wild sparrows. They all seemed to show affection back to me as well, as if I was one of them.
Soon, I saw the wolf nearly collapsed on the ground. It was breathing heavily, a large cut though its neck. At least the cut didn't look too bad. Although, it didn't look like something another wolf had done... It looked as though the wolf was caught in a fence. But there were no fences nearby. That's what worried me. The wolf looked my way and our eyes met. Its eyes... I don't know how to explain them, only they seemed to harbor an intelligence that a wolf would not commonly have. It started to walk towards me, that's not too uncommon for wild animals to do. I began walking towards it as well. I silently coaxed it to sit down, which it seemed to follow rather well for most canines I have cared for. I quickly looked at the wound closer now and it didn't seem to be infected so I figured just something to stop the bleeding should be enough. I ripped a bit of my sleeve off, another thing for my sister to complain about... I wrapped it around the wolf's neck carefully and tied a knot on it. The wolf looked at me one time, seeming as though to say something like "Thank you." But also, there seemed to be something else in those eyes...
That night, I saw those eyes every time I closed my eyes. They seemed so distant... Yet so familiar. I didn't understand... As I kept trying to fall asleep once more, something inside me told me to get up. I followed that voice and sat up, to see the same figure I saw last night out there again, only this time, that figure had another with it... A dog perhaps? It was too late to tell. I heard another howl, but this time, it seemed as though the howl was clearly made up of words. "Come out here. We know who you are and we mean you no harm." That howl, no, that voice, seemd so sincere, so true. I quickly pulled myself off the bed and got dressed in my usual black T-shirt and baggy black jeans. No one was awake at this hour, even after that howl. I stepped outside to see that figure from before and the dog aproach me. Soon, my eyes had adjusted enough, and I saw that figure's face clearly, as well as the dog, which turned out to be the same wolf from before, my sleeve still around its neck. The figure was a boy, about my age, maybe a year or two older. He had this almost pure red hair, and not a normal red either, but like a blood-red. His eyes were a dark green, and they seemed to show some kind of understanding. He smiled and quickly spoke in a cheerful voice, "Hello!" The wolf seemed not very amused by this and shook its head in a human way.
"Uh... Hi." I spoke back a little unsure still. "What did you mean by you know what I am?"
"Oh! That. Sorry. I kinda forgot you still don't know yet. Well, this may come as a shock but you are a wolf shapeshifter like us here. Sometimes commonly called a werewolf." The boy smiled weakly, as if he didn't even believe what he just said.
"Really? Always so straight-to-the-point, Richard?" The wolf snorted. "Hey! I was just..." He was cut off as I tried to speak.
"A werewolf? How? And did that wolf just talk?" "Yes. I just did. I am a wolf shifter myself. That would be why I can talk and also why you and Richard can understand me. Either way, that's enough talk. We should probably get moving. The hunters are probably already out again. I've already had my tangle with them today." He snorts once more.
"Oh, yeah. Um... Sorry about this. You'll understand this later." Richard smiled wealkly again as I felt my vision go black.
I rolled my eyes as I woke on the old couch. emphasis on old. "Another one of these days... I guess I'd better..." I stopped as I realized this wasn't my house. Where was I? My mind replayed the previous scene in my head. Okay. So if they had kidnapped me, saying I was a werewolf and such, where are they now? I heard a grumble from outside the door. "Why do I have to? It's not like it really matters who, does it?" Someone muttered clearly not happy about something.
