A Summer Picnic
Still feeling pretty sick at the moment, so I thought that I would write this to get my mind off it.
As I lay in the tall grass
warm wind blowing through my fur,
watching the white fluffy clouds pass
I half close my eyes, giving a soft murr.
winter to spring
then on to summer,
the season changes everything
nights are getting longer.
I always love
time of year,
a group of friends kick back
sharing a case of beer.
Sitting up in a field of green
mountains rising,
complete the scene
so hypnotizing.
Those white puff balls
in the sky,
a distant bird calls
flying so high.
The sights and sounds
of this wonderful place,
the vally and mounds
a smile creeps on my face.
Seeing you there
basket in paw,
The most amazing person
without one single flaw.
Taking your paw
gently in mine,
I wag my tail opening the basket
from which we shall dine.
Fresh fruit, sandwhiches
and a nice bottle of vino,
I pour us two glasses
Of Pinot Grigio.
Sipping the wine
I look into your eyes,
highlighted so perfectly
against the slowly darkening skies.
The sun is going down
As we head back
into the town
driving slowly over the well worn track.
