Tales of Adventure Chapter 8
#8 of Tales of Adventure
Malas, a city by the sea where back alley deals and racism run rampant.
When Enek and Taeln had fled from Reon and found their way here, if they knew what they had then it's likely they would have tried their chances with the mountain pass instead. The cities founders had been a trade group of human merchants looking to break away from the more elven and dwarven established towns at the time. It had been billed as 'Humanities last outpost'. The name was actually accurate in one regard, Malas had been the furthest south settlement to date. Everything further was all wildland that belongs to the creatures of nature or in all likelihood, any number of beast-race tribes. The cities founders were dismayed when within the first year of the establishing themselves the crushing demand for workers arose. Their humans only mentality only held until the need for cheap labor came along.
Within Malas still stood many taverns or establishments that bared signs like "Humans Only!", a detail that became known only after the fact when he had traveled here with Taeln all those years ago. A feeling in his gut that could only be described as disgust was felt for the city, but he had also made a lot of good friends and contacts here.
As Rayne parted ways with them, leaving with a kiss for both and wave goodbye. Enek had grown to like the wolf-sharks company over the last day they had all spent together... familiarizing, as well as traveling. She however had her duties to her clan, and it was something both Enek and Asyr could appreciate.
He sighed, scratching his head as they looked out at the city from a a short distance away. Glancing to Asyr, a sense of dread overcame him as Enek came to a conclusion that he already hated. "Asyr... That's where I need to go, but you can't go in with me. Not normally anyway."
She simply tilted her head and blinked at him. Getting the feeling she was about to hear something less than satisfactory, but letting him continue his train of thought without interrupting first.
"They won't let people like you into the city, but I have to go there. So we have a few options. Either you stay out here and wait until I finish inside, we try and sneak you in at night...but if you get caught at any point after that it'll likely be the gallows if not just the end of a halberd.. or lastly we tell them the truth and just play up certain aspects." He bite his lower lip, lost in thought.
Taking each option in mind, she rubbed her belly at the thought of falling prey to the guards weapons but shook her head at even the mention of leaving him now. Pointing to the city and nodding. "Go with."
"Alright alright. Then Asyr, I need you to follow everything I say from this point on to the whole time we're inside the city. I mean everything, even something unsavory if I must ask it." His eyes looked on at her with sadness already. "Please forgive me for anything I must ask of you.."
Hesitation momentarily flashed behind her eyes but she put the traitorous thought down without consideration. Giving him an adamant look and nodding her head. "Understood, alpha." Smiling to him as she nuzzled into his chest and wrapping her arms around his back.
He wrapped his arms around her in return, patting the back of her head. Resting his chin between her ears and just basking in their combined warmth for the moment. "Alright, let's get this over with." He took a deep breath, leading Asyr down the main road towards the city gates.

"Halt there, that's close enough!" One of the guardsmen, a stocky man with a bushy moustache called out to them both as they neared. Enek and Asyr halted the approach. The five guardsmen were on alert, weapons leveled towards them.
"Cap'n, it's a beast!" A younger looking man in the guardsmen called out as he pointed an accusing finger at the canine-morph. "Should we kill it sir?" His hands shaking in fear and eagerness at the chance.
"Tsk, if you try to cut down my slave I'll have her kill you in an instant." Enek sneered at the lad. Snapping his fingers at her and motioning to stand beside him. "I'm here on business with the Adventurers Guild, I'll be on the registration if you MUST check." He sighed, putting on the act.
The captain narrowed his eyes as he looked the man over and then his..slave. "Oy, where's her slave collar then. And you've naught even chain around her? We can't allow this beast to roam free inside the walls sir."
Enek looked astonished and laughed. "Collars? Chains? Worthless. What I have is the beast's respect and absolute devotion. I defeated her so she swore her life to me. You'll find no restraints here, because none are needed. A demonstration then?" He asked, to which the captain nodded. "Hey, on your knees." Commanding Asyr to do with a snap of his fingers and pointing to the ground.
She stepped forward and dropped to her knees before him. Bowing her head and baring her neck to Enek.
He looked to the captain and gave a simple shrug. "More, that's not enough of a demonstration just yet." Turning to spit on the ground. "Any lay about can be told to kneel." He motioned in a circle with his finger, a meaning that Enek understood too clearly.
Biting back a curse at the man, his eyes narrows at Asyr. "Lay down, and roll over." The words tasted wrong in his mouth as he said them. Asyr followed along regardless. Laying on the ground and rolling over on to her back, her naked body in display.
Some of the guardsmen sneered and laughed amongst themselves. "Aye, no better than a trained mutt she is!" One of them shouted in mocking tone. "Rolling down in the dirt and mud where she belongs." Another guard added.
The captain remained stern as he watched. "She takes orders or swallows her pride enough for a ruse, but you're going to need to show me this...devotion you spoke of if I'm going to trust this mongrel inside. Following anothers word, and respecting them are completely different aspects."
Enek's mind reeled with possible actions, but was interrupted by Asyr. "Alpha.." She looked up at him, into his eyes. Crawling forward to him, she wrapped her hands around his right leg and nuzzled into it. Rubbing her face against the fabric all the way up to his crotch as her hands pulled at his belt and loosening it. His scent filled her nose, flooding her brain with a tingling desire. Before it had simply been part of the act but now her body urged her on as she fished his cock out buried her nose against its length. Taking a deep breath in and dragging her tongue along the underside from base to tip.
The guardsmen all became horrified by the sight, averting their eyes and some even going so far as to make gagging sounds. The captain however did not look away. Judging the supposed master and servant for a moment more before nodding his head. "Enough!" She shouted at his troops, to which they all filed back into proper position. "Fine, just make her stop doing that. And make sure she doesn't do it inside the city." The captain waved his hands inside. "Mind the law or you'll be doing it from the inside of a cell if you're fortunate."
Enek nodded to the man, pushing Asyr off of his leg. Pulling his pants back up and belting them. Asyr whined, the scent of her mate and alpha still fresh in her mind and being denied it. She glanced around her, head in a fog, but slowly recalling what had been planned. Rubbing her eyes and standing back up, she followed Enek into the city.

The main street stretched out ahead of them. Elaborately decorated store fronts, taverns, and Inns all trying to draw in customers. Leading her through town, Enek moved down one of the side streets after a startling number of stares and whisper they were beginning to get aimed at them. Women covering their children's eyes and pulling them away, groups of gentlemen stopping what they were doing just to gawk. Each new reaction sent seething hatred through Enek. Reaching the door to a medium sized, two storied building labeled "Adventurer's Guild", he pushed it open.
The building inside was decorated quite differently than anything else you'd find in the city. Lush carpets covered the floors with the edges of the room being set up as curtained booths with large pillows and cushions adorning them. A few of the booths even held grand hookahs that a few customers were indulging in at the moment. Making eye contact with the bar tender who looked up at the door, he signaled for something before leading Asyr to a quiet corner booth. A minute later a finely dressed human man with a turban, his skin was tanned dark and stood in stark contrast to the brilliant jewelry that lay around the man's neck and fingers. Slightly rotund but by no means fat, his clothes were pure silk and various shades creating a very striking image.
"Ahhh, Enek my boy! My star! You're awfully late from that last job." He glanced at Asyr then looked around the rest of the booth. "What's this, finally traded Taeln in for a new partner or something?" He motioned at her. "I don't know how long you've been in town but would you believe that word already arrived to me that some fool was walking through town with a naked canine beast at his heel? I never imagined it would end up being you though." He chuckled. "So did the two of you have a disagreement over that last little job or something? I've told you boys when you were growing up that you needed to learn to share."
"Taeln's dead, Varen..." Enek held his hand out to stop the man from continuing on any longer, letting the words soak in. "That last job was screwed. Littered with traps, a stone golem, and this shit.." Enek dug into his pack and pull out the crown, setting it on the counter top. "The legacy of the King's Rest? That's it right there."
The man, Varen, remained silent for a moment. Picking the crown up and turning it over in his hands. "How'd it happen..?" His face was entirely passive, setting the crown back down on the table.
Enek sighed, placing his elbows on the table and rubbing his eyes. "Varen there was a Lich in there.. It killed him and spared me for some reason."
Varen chuckled at this, reaching for his handkerchief and dabbing at the corner of his eyes. "A Lich? Don't lie to me boy, did you kill him in a squabble over treasure?" He cast an accusing look at Enek.
"What fucking treasure?! This was the only thing I was able to bring back from that gods forsaken place." His voice rose, a few of the nearby people turning to look in their direction. "If I was lying then would I be able to do this?" Snapping his fingers and creating a burning flame in his palm. Blowing the fire out, he placed his hand to the table top. It quickly froze over as ice covered it. "The Lich... did something to me. I can.." Enek looked around and lowered his voice. "I can cast magic now dammit. Look at me and tell me there was no Lich again."
Varen held a hand over his mouth as his eyes practically bugged out of his head. "That's not possible though! King's Rest was only a day and a half from here. You're telling me there's a Lich that close to the city? I thought they were just stories! Tales to frighten the children with!" Sitting up shakily and leaving the booth. "I need to get in contact with someone, thank you for bringing this to our attention." He stopped for a moment and looked back at their booth. "Stay here tonight, I can't have her going out and causing anymore problems since you've entered my establishment now."
Enek and Asyr shared a look, to which he shrugged at her. "That solves one major issue at least. Come on, I'll show you the room." He sat up and motioned for her to follow. "Taeln and I used to stay there all the time when we were younger." They climbed a set of stairs by the bars counter top, leading to a hallway with a number of doors on either side. All the way down at the end, the last one on the right hand side, Enek turned the handle and propped the door open.
Asyr entered the room, looking around and sniffing. It had been kept enough that only a few spots of dust lingered about, but it was clear that the room went largely unused. A faint smell lingered in the air, and she recognized it as Enek's and anothers. The scent immediately setting her mind at ease. She wandered over to the bed and sprawled out on it, and breathing in the air. It was faint but even the sheets had her Alpha's smell. The tingling sensation returning to her body, she licked at the pillow and blanket.
Enek closed the door and stretched. He had reached Malas and managed to convince someone of the danger. This combined with the fact that he'd actually get to sleep on a real bed for once in over a week made him feel great. A sweet and almost spicy smell hit his nose as he closed his eyes.
Asyr's voice cut through the silence of the room like a knife and posed a simple but powerful question. "Bed, Alpha?"
