An Insecure Fox - Part 3/3
I completely forgot about the story, and decided it was time for chapter 3! Apologies! Tell me what you think? This short story follows Ethan, a cute arctic fox that's insecure about his weight, and how his relationship with his crush, a very handsome and proud lion that owns his own hair salon, progresses.- - - An Insecure Fox - Part 3/3 Ethan slowly opened his eyes, letting them adjust for a second. He was lying on a comfortable double bed, in a nicely decorated bedroom. Where am I? Wait, the diner... Sam? The fox worryingly sat up. He dug through his pockets and grabbed his old cellphone to check the time. 5 PM? How long was I asleep? His confused thoughts were interrupted by what sounded like someone closing a tap. The fox waited, and a minute or so later, a half naked lion entered the room. "Sam!?" Ethan wildly blushed while staring up and down the lion, who only had a small towel wrapped around the waist of his muscular body. "Hey sleepyhead! Sorry, I had a quick shower." "Uh, yeah..." was all the blushing fox could say. Sam sat down next to Ethan with a giggle. "I gave you a kiss and you fainted. What was up with that?" The fox's ears drooped and his cheeks reddened even more. "I... it was just... You're so..." Ethan stuttered. The lion gave a grin and kissed the fox's cheek. "I think I should put on some clothes. If you blush any harder you'll look like strawberry." He laughed and disappeared into his walk-in closet. Ethan adjusted to the situation and laid back on the comfy bed while waiting for Sam. This is actually happening. He likes me... Why me? I realise I should be happier, but... He's so sweet and caring, I'm a nervous wreck! He gave me a kiss, and how do I react? I faint! Who does that!? Ethan scolded himself and continued waiting for the lion's return. After a minute or two, Sam returned and laid down next to the fox. Ethan shyly smiled, then spoke. "I'm sorry today was such a disaster... I hope I can make it up to you." He said with a sigh. "Don't worry big guy, I enjoyed every second of the day." The lion reassuringly replied and place a paw on Ethan's leg. Ethan sighed again, but it was a sigh of relief. His ears perked up and he faced the lion, who was wrapped around him at that moment. "I really like you, Sam... But I don't know what you see in a guy like me." Ethan managed to say. The lion giggled and asked: "What do you mean 'a guy like me'?" "I'm just an overweight, insecure fox..." Sam held Ethan tighter before saying: "You're much more than that, Ethan. You're charming, and sweet, and the best friend anyone could ask for! Besides, I like chubby guys. They cuddle better!" Ethan couldn't help but laugh. "This is the first time you've actually been happy all day." The smiling lion pointed out. Ethan just kept on smiling. They cuddled and enjoyed each other's company for what
felt like an hour. The fox, who was wrapped around the lion, suddenly lifted his head. "Sam?" "Yeah, Ethan?" "Will you go out with me?" Sam's face grew a wide smile, which turned into a mischievous grin. "On one condition!" The fox frowned before asking: "What condition?" "You let me kiss you without it ending in you unconscious on the floor." The lion playfully winked, and their lips met.- - - EpilogueEthan and Sam have never been happier. Ethan moved in with Sam and shortly after got engaged. They're now planning the wedding and the rest of their lives with each other.
