After paying his respects towards his recently deceased parents, Nathan Slater finds himself back in the small town of Tallowoh. For a month now, Nathan is plagued by the same nightmare. A shadowy beast has been hunting him down each night. He awakes each night, telling himself that it was just a dream. That is, until he finds the first note.
THIS IS NSFW. THIS IS GAY. THIS IS ALSO REALLY PARANORMAL PORN SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
The morning exercise had left Nathan exhausted. Nathan had almost completely forgotten about the weights upstairs until this morning. The workout had been intense, but incredibly rewarding. The young man now sat in the middle of the book store, basking in his mark's afterglow. His whole body seemed to throb with satisfaction as he turned the page of his book. His hair was still a little damp from the shower, but Nathan liked letting his blonde hair dry naturally.
Despite how good the book was, Nathan found himself worrying about the day's events.
"What's the plan for today? How are we going to pull this off?" Nathan muttered to himself.
The voice in the back of his mind growled. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACT-
" Na tural?" Nathan said aloud to the empty bookstore. An amplified surge of pleasure coursed through his chest, letting him know he had guessed right. "That means I won't be able to talk to you for a while."
THAT IS FINE. I AM ONLY HERE TO OBSERVE.
His whole body felt tense as he brought the cup to his mouth. The caffeine wasn't doing him any good, but he needed the pick-me-up. The two would be walking into dangerous territory. So far Nathan had kept nothing secret from the good Doctor Guscetti. He doubted he could keep the voice inside his head a secret. Nathan could barely focus on the book as his mind raced through all the worst-case scenarios.
Nathan closed the book, setting his coffee down on the end table beside him. "What happens if he finds out? About you?"
YOU PLEAD INSANITY, AND WE DON'T TAKE THE MEDICATION HE PRESCRIBES.
"Fair enough. But what if someone sees the mark?"
The Beast growled in his head. YOU WORRY TOO MUCH, SLATER. YOU WILL STATE IT IS A TATTOO.
Nathan shook his head. These weren't the answers he was looking for. "But... what if someone really does find out that I'm sharing my body with you?"
WE WILL KILL THEM, AND WE WILL RUN.
Nathan didn't like that answer. He had almost forgotten who he was dealing with. "I wouldn't let you."
YOU WOULD RATHER LET THEM DISSECT YOU?
"W-what? They wouldn't do that." Nathan stammered.
THEY WOULD SLATER. THEY HAVE. HUMANS HAVE DISCOVERED ONE OF MY VESSELS ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION.
The conversation had done little to settle his nerves. Nathan gulped, suddenly understanding the consequences of his actions.
"Should I be worried?" Nathan said, checking the time on his watch. The Sherriff would arrive at any moment.
FOR NOW, NO. OUR MARK HAS NOT MATURED. AT THE MOST THIS MAN WOULD DIAGNOSE MY PRESENCE AS A MENTAL DISORDER.
"What do you mean, for now?" Nathan inquired, pulling himself out of the reclined armchair.
WHEN THE IMPRINTING BEGINS, WE ARE AT OUR MOST VULNERABLE STAGE. MY PRESENCE WILL BE INCREDIBLY WEAKENED DURING THIS TIME AS WELL. IT WOULD BE BEST TO STEER CLEAR OF THE PUBLIC EYE FOR AT LEAST A WEEK.
"A week?" Nathan said, placing the half-empty mug on his front desk. He glanced outside in time to see the Sherriff's car finish pulling up.
Nathan watched Tallowoh pass by him. He watched downtown slowly roll past his window. Nathan tried to remember the last time he had visited some of these shops. The whole town felt so small to him after spending four years at college.
"So..." The Sherriff began.
"So." Nathan mimicked, settling into the backseat.
"How are you, Nathan?" The gruff voice asked.
Nathan rolled his eyes, turning his attention away from the window as he replied. "I thought I was going to get my therapy from Dr. Guscetti, sir."
"Just... making sure you're okay, Nathan." McMillan stated.
"I'm doing just fine. Honestly, I'd like to get this over with as quickly as possible so I can get back to my shop." Nathan admitted, counting the number of horses trailing alongside the country road.
"You sell a lot of books in the evening?" The Sherriff asked.
Nathan scoffed and shook his head. "I don't sell many books during the day, let alone the night."
"Oh. Well then... Pardon me if I'm overstepping my boundaries, but... Why keep it open?" McMillan said.
"It's my home for now. I haven't restocked the shelves in over a year, and I don't want to sell the place until I find these books a new place to call home." Nathan looked at the cop in the rear-view mirror as he spoke. McMillan's eyes were focused on the road ahead as he nodded in understanding.
"I see, I see." The Sherriff muttered. The cop drove with one arm. His other was propped against the car door, fingers lightly rapping against the interior. The man let out a deep grunt as he rolled back into the chair, trying to get more comfortable.
"Well I can't say I'm much of a reader but... you got any you think I'd like?" The Sherriff asked, eyes constantly checking on Nathan in the mirror. "You know... to empty your store a little bit."
"That depends... what do you like to read?" Nathan asked, relaxing a little as well. If there was one thing Nathan knew how to talk about, it was books.
The two talked about famous authors and books for almost an hour. While it was mostly Nathan doing the talking, the Sherriff seemed genuinely interested in what the young man had to say. They discussed some of the classics, like Catcher in the Rye and Of Mice and Men.
By the time the cop car rolled into the small north of Tallowoh, Nathan was feeling incredibly uncomfortable. He wiped the sweat from his brow as the car pulled off the freeway. The car's heater had practically turned the car into a sauna.
"Hey Sherriff?" Nathan asked, tugging at the neck of his shirt to let out some of the hot air.
"I already told you, you can call me Paul." The cop said, flicking his turn signal on.
"Well, Paul? Can you turn down the heat? It's boiling back here." Nathan said, tempted just to ditch the shirt altogether.
The cop raised an eye, glancing back at the sweating man. "I uh... there ain't no heat on up here, Nathan."
"Oh." Nathan said, a bead of sweat trickling down his temple.
IT'S HAPPENING. The familiar voice rumbled in the back of his head.
"You getting nervous about your session with the doc?" McMillan asked.
Nathan shook his head. "No. I... I don't think so."
Suddenly the young man became all-too aware of how unnatural the heat was. The air around him wasn't what was hot... it was his own body that was generating the heat.
HOLD THE HEAT IN. The Beast commanded. The demon's cryptic advice did little help to Nathan. The warmth within his shoulder felt like it was going to implode at any moment.
Nathan traded glances with the cop through the rear-view mirror. The young man tried to act as normal as possible as he struggled with the foreign sensations running through his body. His body began to twitch and shake on its own accord.
Only a few lights were on inside the small clinic as they pulled up. Nathan could see the familiar light of Dr. Guscettit's office. The doctor was a punctual man, and luckily for Nathan they had arrived just in time.
The Sherriff opened the door to the backseat, letting the twitching youth out of the car. Paul eyed him worriedly as the shaking youth walked up the clinic's steps.
"Are you... sure you're okay?" McMillan called out.
"Y-y-yeah. G-g-golden." Nathan said through chattering teeth. His body was shaking uncontrollably as he pressed a hand against the front door. The cool metal felt like ice beneath his hand.
"I'll be here then! Take your time!" McMillan shouted.
Nathan quickly scurried over to the first floor bathroom. He fumbled with the lock as he slammed the door behind him in a desperate attempt to seal the door before...before...
The heat was becoming too much for Nathan. The strange pressure within his shoulder was beginning to peak. It felt like something inside him was going to pop at any moment. Nathan turned away from the now locked door. He tore his shirt off as he stumbled his way over to the mirror.
Nathan inspected his brand. The strange seal was now pulsing with bright and vivid life. The strange symbols seemed to move and dance on their own.
YOU CAN LET IT OUT NOW. The Beast prompted.
"I don't... understand." Nathan moaned, leaning over the sink. His body felt like it was beginning to cave in beneath the pressure building within him.
DON'T FIGHT IT. The deep voice urged.
Nathan gripped the sink tighter as the sensations reached their peak. He gasped for air as the heat overwhelmed him. His knees felt like they were going to buckle beneath him at any moment as he gasped in shock.
Just when Nathan felt like he couldn't take the pressure any longer... it burst.
"Oh, fuck!" Nathan cursed, body visibly jolting as the sensation struck him. All the pressure that had amounted inside him felt like it had just exploded. A shockwave of pleasure rolled through his body. Nathan's legs gave out beneath him, and he crumpled to the floor. He let out a deep and raspy growl of pleasure as he rode the sensation through to the end. At the same time, the young man's mind was hit by a tide of primal urges.
HUNT, PREY, LIVE, SLEEP, FUCK, FUCK, FU-
The pleasure coursing through his body vanished seemed to disappear as soon as it began. Nathan's mind cleared as the overwhelming urges receded. The young man found himself pressed against the bathroom floor, one hand clenching his shirt with the other groping the bulge in his pants. He felt light headed as he stumbled back onto his feet. Nathan gripped the sink for support as he stared at himself in the mirror.
Nathan couldn't believe it...He looked... he looked...
"Completely the same." Nathan whispered under his breath.
NOT ENTIRELY. The Beast said, a hint of pride in his voice.
Nathan looked at his shoulder. The brand had quadrupled in size. The strange circle had at least seven intricate layers now. The bright blue marking enveloping his shoulder seemed to pulse with life.
Without the heat surging through his body, Nathan quickly found the bathroom's air to be quite chilling against his sweaty chest. He quickly put the shirt on as he spoke. "So is it over?"
FOR NOW. I HADN'T EXPECTED THE PACT TO MATURE SO SOON.
Dr. Guscetti sighed in content. It seemed that their session had been getting them nowhere. Nathan's mind seemed to be somewhere else tonight. Somewhere better. The good doctor bit his pen cap as he stared at the young man. He had seemed so pent up in their previous sessions, and yet... Now... He looked so relaxed. Almost as if...
"You taken any drugs recently, Nathan?" Dr. Guscetti asked for the third time that night. It was unlike the young man to show up late and completely exhausted.
Nathan shook his head, blue eyes transfixed on the ceiling above him. The doctor frowned, wondering where the sudden calmness had come from. Besides how visibly shaken the young man seemed upon first entering his office, Nathan seemed quite stable.
"Any new dreams?" The psychiatrist pressed, glancing at his notes about the monster that had been chasing Nathan.
"Just the same one as usual. But last night... I don't think I had it." Nathan said, narrowing his eyes as he spoke.
"Oh?" Dr. Guscetti asked, scribbling a few notes on his clipboard. "And what do you think changed in your life for this to happen? A new diet?"
Nathan scrunched his brow and glanced at the floor for just a second as he thought. "I... I think it was going back to the bookstore? It really brought me out of that dark place I had been."
"So it's gone then? The monster?" Dr. Guscetti clarified.
Nathan thought about that for some time before shaking his head. "No. I just think it's done chasing me."
Dr. Guscetti let out a long sigh. It seemed to him that the young man was on the road to recovery. There was nothing he could do for the young man that he hadn't already done. "If the night terrors continue to be a no-show, then that may be the sign that my work with you is done. You and I both know there's a lot more work before you are completely healthy, but I don't want you feeling obligated to come see me again. At least for a while."
Nathan's bright blue eyes widened as he processed the good news. He bolted upright in his armchair to face the doctor. "Oh! Okay!" The young man exclaimed.
"However, I want somebody checking in on you. I'll keep in touch with Sherriff McMillan for a while to monitor your activity. The last thing we want you doing is holing yourself up in your room for another month. It sounds like going back to the bookstore has really helped kick-start your recovery, Nathan." Dr. Guscetti said, hastily scribbling notes on his clipboard as he spoke.
"I have you to thank for that, doctor. Going back to my townhouse was your idea." Nathan smiled, standing up. The young man wobbled in place for a minute, holding his head.
"Are you okay?" Guscetti asked nervously, watching Nathan shake his head.
"Y-yeah. I just got up too fast." Nathan said, still smiling. "Thank you so much doctor. For everything."
The car ride home was silent. Neither talked to one another as they drove away from the clinic. Only the sound of police chatter filled the cruiser as it drove down the highway. Nathan watched the countryside slip by. The rhythmic vibrations of the car slowly began to rock Nathan to sleep.
Nathan found himself coated in a thick pelt of darkness. It seemed to envelope his entire being. The shapeless form moved around him, cradling him as he relaxed. Nathan felt like he was suspended in midair. Even though he couldn't make out the form around him, he could feel a large hand move up his thigh. The soft and gentle touch made his body relax. The darkness wrapped itself tighter around Nathan as one hand became two, then three, then-
Nathan awoke. The first thing he noticed was a heavy waft of cologne. The second, were a large pair of arms wrapped around his waist. Nathan opened his eyes and pulled away from the Sherriff's tight embrace. The thick hands that kept him in place groped his ass. Nathan looked down to find himself straddling the cop's thighs. His own arms were slung over the older man's shoulders.
"Why'd you stop?" The rugged man asked, looking at him in confusion.
Nathan glanced around the room in panic. Slowly, he began to take in his surroundings. They were in his armchair in the back of the bookstore. A lone lamp illuminated their embrace.
"I... I... I think you should leave." Nathan whispered, struggling to remove himself from the cop's lap. A large burst of pain erupted from his shoulder as he spoke. The young man yelped in pain, doubling over as he stood.
"Is it something I did?" The Sherriff asked worriedly, following Nathan towards the front of the shop. "You seemed so into it a moment ago I-"
"Please! Just... for now... go." Nathan hissed, opening the front door for the cop.
Sherriff McMillan packed his remaining dignity and shuffled out the door. The cop gave him one last worried glance before stepping into his vehicle.
"What the FUCK was that?" Nathan asked through gritted teeth, his unwanted erection rubbing against his jeans as he stormed upstairs.
I COULD ASK YOU A SIMILAR QUESTION.
"And why the Sherriff of all people?" Nathan groaned, trudging towards his bed. It wasn't that Nathan had anything against Paul on a physical level, but... "How did you even know he was gay?"
I ASKED.
"And?" Nathan gawked, closing the door to his bedroom behind him.
HE WAS.
"So that led to that? The two of us in my shop?" Nathan shook his head, too heated to notice his body stripping for him.
I INVITED HIM IN. The Beast stated, using Nathan's hands to drop their pants and boxers to the floor.
"This isn't the time for... ngh!" Nathan grunted as he felt his hand wrap around his cock. It seemed the Beast was set on avoiding this argument at the moment. The dwindling pain in his shoulder suddenly blossomed into pleasure as he gave in to the Beast's fondling.
YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TURNED HIM AWAY, SLATER. WE COULD HAVE USED THE RELEASE. The demon pressed their fingers around the head of Nathan's cock, expertly milking his shaft as he spoke.
IT TAKES A LARGE AMOUNT OF ENDORPHINES TO FUEL AN IMPRINTING. The deep voice growled in pleasure as his grip tightened. *I WAS HOPING THE SHERRIFF COULD HELP US BEFORE WE BEGAN. *
"S-so soon?" Nathan whispered, a little shaken at the thought of the demonic transformation.
IT WILL HAPPEN WHETHER YOU WANT IT TO OR NOT. IT IS BEST NOT TO HOLD THE MARK BACK FOR TOO LONG. While the beast worked one hand up and down the young man's shaft, Nathan stared at his reflection. It was so strange to watch his own body jack off for him.
YOU ARE ALMOST READY. I CAN FEEL IT IN YOU. FOR SUCH PRIVATE CREATURES YOU HAVE SUCH... INCREDIBLE PLEASURES. YOU HUMANS SPEND SO MUCH TIME LONGING AFTER ONE ANOTHER WHEN ALL YOU NEED IS A LITTLE...
" Encouragement." Nathan hissed through gritted teeth, a small trickle of pre forming at the tip of his cock.
WE MAY " slip out of" CONSCIOUSNESS TONIGHT AS WE " let... the changes take hold." The demon spoke, his raspy voice beginning to slip it's way past Nathan's lips.
Nathan watched as his free hand was placed against his chest. The young man could feel how fast his heart was beating against his palm. " You are too stressed, Nathan." The Beast spoke, his hand trailing down Nathan's sensitive skin to join the other at the base of his shaft. The two hands did their best to minister the young man's cock.
Nathan's shoulder began to build with immense pleasure once more. The young man found himself fighting the sensation off as he struggled for control. Another voice whispered behind the Beast's.
EAT, FUCK, SLEEP...
"This won't be enjoyable unless you relax." The Beast growled, squeezing both hands tightly around his cock. The young blonde let his tongue loll out of his mouth as they moaned in unison. Nathan stared at his reflection's abnormally long tongue. The pink organ hung halfway down his chin. His heavy gasps almost made it look like he was panting. His confusion only helped to further muddle his thoughts. The young man was finding it incredibly hard to focus on anything other than the voices in his head.
RELAX. FOCUS ON HOW GOOD THIS FEELS. LET THE CHANGES IN. The voice cooed. Nathan found his vision clouding as the voice grew louder and louder.
FUCK, FUCK, FUCK...
The room seemed to be spinning as Nathan sat up in bed. He shut his eyes tight, and then opened them wide, trying his best to correct his blurry vision.
" B-Beast?" Nathan asked aloud, glancing at himself in the mirror through half-closed eyes. He could barely make out his reflection in the large mirror.
The voice in his head did not respond. His body felt... crusty... as he pulled the sheets off of his naked form. He glanced down at his chest to see a thick layer of dried cum coating his chest. He placed a hand against his stomach, running a few fingers along the skin. The smooth skin felt incredibly sensitive under his touch.
" Wha t hap pened last night?" Nathan muttered, realizing just how much dried cum now coated his body. It wasn't just his chest. Even his arms were caked in spent seed. The bitter taste of cum filled his mouth as he rolled his tongue across his lips. His cheeks, nose... even chin found similar tastes.
Suddenly, reality hit Nathan. His nose? Nathan turned to look in the mirror. He watched in as his tongue slowly slipped out of his mouth and licked the side of his nose.
The yelp that erupted from Nathan's mouth was more of a snarl than a shout. Nathan quickly found himself on the bedroom floor as he tried to jump out of bed. He groaned as he lifted himself back onto all fours, trying to make the room stay still. The entire ground seemed to be moving beneath him as he regained his balance.
" Beast? Y** ou there?**" Nathan asked, now completely awake. The young man glanced at his lower body as he lay on the floor. His thighs seemed... meatier to Nathan, as if he had packed on a lot of weight overnight. He tried his best to fight the overwhelming vertigo as he stood. The young man slowly made his way over to the bathroom on shaky legs.
He called out once more to the Beast, hoping to get a response. The sudden disappearance worried Nathan. Without the Beast, he had no clue what was happening to him.
He glanced at himself in the mirror. The first thing he noticed was his weight. His entire body looked a lot bulkier than it had a day earlier. He gripped the mass, noticing that there was a fair bit of muscle underneath all the extra weight as well. The added pounds really helped to fill out his wiry frame.
Nathan let his new organ slither down his chin as he tested it's reach. The pink organ could reach all the way down to his Adam's apple. Nathan watched in amazement as he flexed the thick organ, watching the dexterous muscles easily control his new 'appendage'.
Nathan let the thick organ slip back inside his mouth, watching in fascination as the huge tongue rolled back up into his mouth. He leaned in close to the mixture, inspecting how the tongue looked when compacted. Besides it's semi-tapered point, the tongue almost looked completely normal.
Nathan turned around to check his backside. He could barely even recognize his body now that he was no longer so thin and lanky. As he turned back around, Nathan noticed a strange tapping noise against the tiled floor. He looked down at his feet, realizing that the strange sound was coming from his feet. Each of his toenails were as black as night. He wiggled his toes to let each of the talon-like claws tap against the ceramic flooring.
" This is all so weird." Nathan murmured to himself. He could feel the vibrations in his chest as he spoke. His deep raspy voice sounded made it sound like he was recovering from a sore throat.
" Beast?" Nathan called out again, walking towards the shower as he picked at the flaking cum on his skin. "I would really like to know what's happening to me."
The Beast's warning rang through his head as he locked the shop door behind him. The meteorologists had been right about the weather. Nathan looked up at the thick layer of clouds blocking out the afternoon sun. All that remained of last night's snowfall was a thin layer of slush.
Nathan's stomach growled again, reminding him why he had stepped outside his townhouse. The changing man had eaten everything inside his apartment and yet he was still hungry. As he trudged down the sidewalk, he found himself realizing just how much he'd grown. He had barely fit his largest pair of pants around his waist. Nathan had given up completely on trying to fit into his boxers, and was beginning to regret his decision. His sensitive groin ground against the restricting denim with every step. Nathan awkwardly reached into his jeans to rearrange his junk, hoping that no one saw him openly groping himself as he strode past the empty shops.
Nathan's hunger took a backseat to his anxiety. The Beast had yet to resurface, and it was beginning to unsettle him. He sighed to himself, going through all the events that had happened to him in the last week.
"So what can I get you?" Eric said, staring at Nathan with a tired smile on his face.
" You okay?" Nathan asked, glancing up at Eric from his menu. The waiter looked exhausted. The man's apron was half tucked into his pants and his hair was a mess.
"Nah I'm fine. It's just been a pretty crazy rush hour." Eric forced himself to smile brighter, trying his best to hide his fatigue. The waiter pointed the end of his pen down at Nathan as he spoke. "I could ask you the same question."
Nathan blinked in surprise. " What do you mean by that?"
"Dude, your voice is super raspy. You got a sore throat? And you're still wearing your coat. You got a fever man?" Eric asked, cocking his head in concern.
" Yeah it's... something like that. I-I ain't contagious though." Nathan grumbled, shrinking into his seat.
Eric laughed. "Sure, whatever you say. So what can I get started for you?" The handsome waiter glanced at the other tables as he spoke, pen at the ready.
Nathan returned to his menu, stomach rumbling as he looked at all of his options. " Just get me the Lunch Special."
"That feeds two, Nate." Eric reminded him.
" I know. I've just been feeling extra hungry today." Nathan said, handing the menu to Eric.
"Aye aye. One Lunch Special coming right up." Eric winked before walking to the kitchen door.
"Me and the other waiter took bets on whether you'd finish it all or not." Eric said, taking the three empty plates away from Nathan's table.
" Uh, yeah. I'm totally stuff-" The seated man was interrupted by his own stomach growling. He blushed, placing a hand on his stomach. He hoped that Eric hadn't heard. " So uh... what'd you bet?"
"We bet the tip jar on it. But I'll give her the other half. I don't think either of us knew you'd be THAT hungry." Eric snickered, pointing his pen at Nathan's stomach. "So do you want some pie for the road, Nate?"
" No I uh... I'm good. Just the check, please." He lied.
"Aye aye! I'll be right back with your bill." Eric smiled before turning away.
Nathan found himself staring at his waiter's butt as he sauntered toward the register. The young man thought back to his conversation with the Beast about Eric.
I WOULD LIKE YOU TO TRY.
Nathan shook his head, pulling his gaze away from his old friend's well-fitted pants. He stared at his hands, noticing how dark the keratin in his fingernails had become. Nathan knew that he couldn't count on the Beast returning. A part of him thought that eating more would have somehow let the demon return. Nathan felt a little betrayed that the Beast hadn't warned him of this. In hindsight, he wished he had asked him more questions. What was going to happen to him? Was this permanent?
"Here you are. One check and a slice of pie, on the house." Eric said, placing the to-go box on the table as he spoke. Nathan jolted back to reality, looking up at his old friend.
" Thanks." Nathan muttered, grabbing his wallet out of his coat pocket.
"So what are you up to?" Eric asked, watching Nathan rummage through his wallet.
The seated man pulled out a large wad of money, placing far too much money by the receipt. " The usual. Looking after the shop. Might close up early. Keep the change."
"That's what I thought." Eric said, taking the money off the counter with a sigh. "On a completely unrelated note, have you ever heard of a show called Twin Peaks?"
" Uh... No? Or wait, is that the show by David Lynch?" Nathan asked.
Eric nodded his head, giving Nathan enough room to get out of his booth. "Yeah. I was wondering if maybe you and I could... you know... like the old days?" The waiter nudged his elbow into Nathan's.
Nathan recalled how the two used to spend their time back in highschool. They'd stay up all night marathoning a whole show. He could still vividly recall the night they watched all of Firefly.
" Yeah we should do that soon." Nathan said fondly, remembering how many seasons they had finished together.
Nathan sat at his front desk, slowly lifting his head before letting it fall back onto the wood with a thud. Why had he told Eric it was a good idea. Stupid, stupid. He winced in pain as he let his head fall with a little too much force. He pulled himself upright, glancing down at his hands. The fingernails were almost completely black now. The changes were getting more and more visible now.
" Where are you Beast?" Nathan groaned, staring at the clock above the door to his store. It was only a few more minutes before closing. A loud rumble resonated from his stomach. Nathan glared at his belly with a cold stare. " You're the reason I'm in this mess." Nathan said.
The bell on his door chimed, alerting Nathan to his potential patron. " Welcome to-" Nathan began, turning to look at his visitor.
The Sherriff let the door close behind him, cautiously stepping up to the counter. The cop looked as nervous as Nathan felt.
" Hi Pa ul. What 're you d oing here?" Nathan asked stiffly, trying to hide how deep his voice had become.
"Well I promised the Doc I'd check up on you, Slater. Gotta make sure you're okay, after all. You are... okay, right?" McMillan shuffled nervously where he stood.
Nathan squinted, wondering what the officer actually meant by the term 'all right'. Nathan sighed, getting up out of his chair. " Look, Officer. I appreciate the concern, but I'm not sure you and I a re meeting eye to eye on a few things."
The cop looked at him with great concern. Nathan realized this was the first time he had seen the Sherriff without a stern gaze on his face. " I... I'm just not sure you're what I want. It's n ot you!" Nathan began, watching McMillan wince at his choice of words. "Well, it is you, it's just that... I'm not ready to start a relationship with someone who could ve ry well be m y dad's age."
The cop nodded, staring down at his own feet. "I understand. Last night I... I was only thinking about myself. It's just been... so long since I've met someone who..." McMillan looked up at Nathan, a look of grief plastered all over his face.
Nathan couldn't help but feel sorry for the older man. He understood how hard it was to be gay in a small town like this. "Sherriff I understand h ow you feel but... I'm ju st not ready."
"And I understand." McMillan said, expression quickly returning back to his familiar stern gaze. "But that doesn't mean I can ignore my responsibility. I will be back every week to check in on you. But also..." The Sherriff placed some cash on the counter. "I'd like your recommendation on a book."
Nathan sent the Sherriff off with two books. The first was a simple murder mystery by a well-known author. The other was from his gay romance collection. The man seemed a little ashamed at first, but Nathan quickly explained just how softcore the romance was. If the Sherriff came back for more Nathan had a few more... adult titles in the back.
As Nathan locked the door, he glanced down at his fingernails once more. They were visibly growing in length now. The changing man bit his lip in nervousness. A sharp pain erupted from his mouth as he did so.
" Ack!" Nathan yelped, bringing a hand up to his mouth. He dabbed a finger on his lip, noticing a fair bit of blood had been drawn from the injury.
" Wha-the?" Nathan murmured, using his thick tongue to examine his teeth. He prodded at his canine, feeling just how sharp the new tooth was.
Nathan pulled out his phone and used the camera to inspect his mouth. He pulled back his lips, letting him examine his new... fangs? His new canines gently rested above his lower gums when his mouth was closed. They looked positively beastly. Nathan wondered if the Sherriff had noticed, glancing back at the door to make sure that he was alone.
Nathan yelped in surprise as a sudden rumble ran through his hand. He quickly realized that it was just his phone on vibrate, and let out a nervous sigh of relief.
" Hello?" Nathan asked, a little shakily.
"So you close up shop?" A cheery voice responded.
" Yeah? Why?" Nathan asked.
"Well I'm currently walking to my car with two huge bags of food from the diner, AND the complete series of Twin Peaks. You in?" The waiter asked.
Nathan's stomach rumbled greedily. He dabbed a finger over his lip, checking to see if it had stopped bleeding. "Uh..." Nathan rolled his tongue across his lips, the taste of blood filling his mouth. " Give me ten minutes."
"Aye aye. I'll be over in ten."
Nathan sighed, hanging up the phone. " I really wish you were here right now, Beast." Nathan whispered, turning away from the front door.
Nathan let out a deep sigh as he began his trek upstairs. How was he going to do this? Sure he could explain the extra weight and hide the tongue... maybe he could even laugh without revealing his huge fangs... but the claws? Nathan examined his sharp black nails in detail. They were far too thick to cut now. Maybe Eric wouldn't notice if he wore gloves...
Nathan let out a deep laugh, reality smacking him in the face. " What the hell did I get myself into?"
Ayyyy I did that thing with the title. How cheesy is that? Pretty cheesy. Also I'm back! Expect more updates soon! As always leave a comment giving me feedback. I'm always looking to improve! Getting back into writing has been pretty hard for me. I'm hoping this chapter holds up to the last!
