Spending Time
#5 of Don't Leave Me - Seasons One & Two
Both Samson and Brandon find themselves dealing with fallout.
"So... when exactly did you... find out you were... gay?" Amy asked.
She still had her air of arrogance. The one she always had when talking to me. She still had her skepticism lingering on her muzzle. Although, she did have a comical Freud crossed with Doctor Phil tone that's pretty funny.
"I don't really know... Maybe seven or eight months ago I finally came to terms with it." I said.
It's quite annoying that she somehow feels the need to keep asking these questions. It's like she's trying to test the authenticity of my claims because, apparently I could be somehow making this all up in an effort to gain her sympathy. Something that I do not need or desire. I just wish I could keep the thought of Samson's ass out of my mind.
"And when did you and Samson realize that you two were... in love...?"
"Why do you always have to talk in that arrogant tone with me?" I accused her.
"Oh... I don't know maybe I'm still a little bitter from when you stood me up at the eighth grade banquet!" she turned her chin up looking away from me, crossing her arms dramatically.
"Okay." I said quite bitterly, "That is not even fair and you know it! My sister was in the hospital what did you expect me to do? Leave her there for some glorified school party?"
"Just answer my question!"
I feels like I was being grilled by some police detective. I could always start explaining the feelings of gay sex to her. That would definitely convince her I'm telling the truth. Or that I'm just some wierdo. Knowing her it would probably be the latter.
"Fine!" I said loudly, "I've had feelings for him for a while I always thought he was rather cute. Any you know he's had feelings for me for a while as well..."
"For reasons I don't even understand..." she mumbled with her arms still crossed.
"You seemed to understand perfectly well in eighth grade..."
"Well I know better now." She sassed.
"Well!" I said loudly trying to get back on track and finish what I was trying to say, "Anyway, we both have feelings for each other, and one thing led to another..."
"You fucking took advantage of him you basterd!" Amy yelled in an attack voice.
"No! No, no one was 'taken advantage of' Amy." I told her, holding myself back, "You know I would never EVER do that to anyone!"
"You are a liar and a cheat Brandon." She deadpanned.
"If you don't want to believe me fine! I just thought that you would be the least bit supportive of someone who you claim to be best friends with. Obviously I was wrong."
"I've... We've both changed a lot since then..." she said.
"Since when?!"
I threw my arms up aggressively. 'We've changed a lot'. Real specific Amy.
"Since..." I was stunned when she grabbed me by the paws. I watched as she forced her lips onto mine
I pushed her back and calmly asked, "What are you doing?"
"That doesn't mean anything to you?" she said, "Does it even turn you on in the slightest?"
I was so angry with her. Angry that she would do something like this now. What was the fucking point of me telling her practically everything if this is what she was going to do?
"What...?" I said disgruntled, "No! I'm trying to tell you that I'm in love with Samson and you choose now to make a move on me! Now?!"
She looked like she was in disbelief, staring into my eyes looking for any sign of deceit.
"You really aren't lying..." she finally said meekly.
"No I'm not..." I said.

"How are you feeling...?"
"Huh...?" I asked, not really paying attention.
"Are you doing okay, Samson?" I heard again.
The concerned voice, of Brandon's mother, spoke in a soft tone that helped bring me back to reality.
"Oh... yeah... I'm fine" I said.
I'm not feeling very enthusiastic at the moment. I'll just go back to my sulking now. I propped my head against my paw and the window, feeling thee coolness of the tempered glass against my face fur. I guess I'm doing as well as anyone can in this situation. I did just become homeless and disowned after all.
"We'll need to come back in a few hours and start packing up your things." She said.
She sounded rather morbid as she discussed me leaving my old life behind. I didn't answer her. I just want to get back to Brandon's house. I just want to see Brandon again to hold him tight. Taking in the scent of his clothes and fur.
His mother and I sat in silence for the rest of the ride. I can't believe that I actually said that to her. That I finally stood up for myself, it's still like some dream. My ears are still ringing from the yelling and I can feel a killer headache coming on. But, I felt more alive now than I have for the past two years. I'm finally free to do what I want to and be myself.
When I finally got out of the car I ran up to the door and threw it open. I plopped right down on the couch. Chris was sitting on the loveseat next to the couch. She looked sad, and even though I barely knew her, I can just tell that something was wrong. But I couldn't bring myself to say anything, I had too much going on in my own mind to be of any help. I couldn't figure out what to do to myself, let alone someone else, might as well keep my muzzle shut instead of taking a risk and offending her. I always seem to do this, I never take any risks, at least not until today. But was that really a risk, I had nothing to lose either way with her. I had already ran away and wasn't even thinking about going back.
Chris however, had no intention of letting me sit quietly and think to myself
"Samson," she said, "can I ask you something?"
"Yeah..." I jumped to rubbing my eyes at her as I tilted my head to the side and perked up my ears waiting for her response.
"Do you... remember your father?"
I was a little surprised that she asked me that, as far as I can remember I never told her about him. It was possible Brandon might have told her or even her mother but I don't know when they would have been able to do so. No matter how she found out it's not an unreasonable question. I do know that their father was killed a few years ago. So we do have something in common. I took a deep breath at I prepared to respond to her.
"Not really..." I said, "he left when I was six. I don't really know why. I do have some memories of him, though. Most of them good. Ha... he treated me like a prince when he was still around."
I smiled as the good memories began to come back to me. However few they were. Chris flicked her ears as she rested her chin on the arm of the couch.
"Have you ever wanted to just go and find him?" she asked.
I tilted my chin up with a sigh thinking of what to say next.
"Of course." I responded, "I've just never had the means to do so and recently it hasn't been a... priority in my life."
"What was his name?"
"Sebastien. Sebastien Temmek. Why?"
"Just wondering." She exchanged a quick glance at me before going back to rest her head on the sofa.
"Oh..." I took a short pause before asking her, "Chris, do you know where Brandon is?"
She looked at me rolling her eyes. Not in the rude way but like you do when you're looking for something in your head.
"No I don't. He didn't have football practice today or rehearsals. He should've came back after school."
"Do you... want to do anything? I thought that I just wanted to sit here and sulk but now..."
"...you want to go do something to take your mind off things?" she finished.
"Yeah..." I replied.
"It would probably do both of us some good. Anyway..."
"... it sounds a whole lot better than sitting here in silence."
Now it seems like we both know exactly what the other is thinking. I must admit the thought of going out and doing something with Chris was growing more and more appealing. At least it sounds better than wallowing in my own self-loathing until Brandon gets home.
"I'll be right back." She said jumping up from the couch.
When she came back, she was wearing her pink jacket with her purse slung around her shoulder. I jumped up throwing on my own black and grey jacket from my book bag that was sitting on the floor.
As we walked out the door she yelled up the stairs, "Mom! Samson and I are going out for a walk."
"Okay be back by five! We need to do that thing later!" I heard the lioness yell back down.
"We will!" she closed the door behind her as she slid her phone into her pocket, "So... where do you want to go?"
I thought over her question for a while rolling around in my mind unable to think of anywhere that I would want to go to.
Finally I just asked, "Where do you usually go?"
"Ha... it depends on how I'm feeling sometimes." She said, "We could just walk around town for a while... if you want."
"Sounds fine to me."
We walked for a few minutes before we started talking again.
"How did it actually start between you and my brother anyway?"
Where did it start? I guess our real start was when he kissed me underneath the trees by the abandoned convenience store. Out of all the places for a relationship to start that had to be one of the worst. But also the kind that makes a great story. Considering it's a place that was probably a center for prostitution and drug dealing. Neither of which I'm too keen on.
I told her about everything that happened that night, well almost everything, I left out a few of the more sensual events of the evening. I really just filled in the blanks with some intense cuddling. I did tell her about the things I overheard him saying when he thought I was asleep, the promise he made to me.
Eventually we sat down in front of one of the local body art shops, Piercings and Dyes. Not the most creative name but at least it got the message across, I guess. Talking to Chris definitely helped make me feel better and I think I've had the same effect on her as her topic of discussion quickly shifted.
"So what was it that actually drew you to him?"
"What do you mean?" I was a little confused about her question at first.
"You know what drew you in to him. His... face, personality, fur, legs, ass. Those sorts of things." I gave off a little laugh not really knowing what to say back to her.
"I guess it was a combination of personality and ass." I chuckled.

"Mom! I'm home! Do you mind if Amy stays over for a while?" My voice echoed throughout the house. I saw the figure of my mother at the top of the stairs looking down.
"Sure Samson and I have somewhere to be around five. You can join us if you want." She said.
My mother migrated her way into the kitchen as she spoke. Come to think of it where was Samson?
"Mom, is Samson still here?"
"No he and Chris left for a walk a while ago. They should be back soon though."
"So now both my sister and my mother are spending time with my boyfriend. Should I be worried?"
It is kinda strange that both of them seemed to be spending more time with him than I have recently. Not that I'd be worried about it.
"Hi Mrs. Carrie." Amy decided to chime in adding her now cheerful voice.
"Amy! It's been... gosh! It must've been three years since I've seen you. My how much you've grown."
"Nice to see you again too." Amy told my mother.
"We'll be in the living room if you need us mom." I decided to chime back in so I could break the two up before they started to get too far into girl talk. Amy gave a polite nod to my mother before following me to the couch.
"This place is almost just like I remember." She was carefully gazing around the room, "So... do you want me to wait here for Samson?"
"Amy I need to ask you something... something important" Something had been weighing on my mind since our talk during the walk home and it needed to come out, "Amy did our... Did our kiss mean anything to you?"
