Wish Upon A Star
What would you sacrifice to be with the one you truly love?
Wish Upon A StarHow far would you go to be with the one you love? What would you sacrifice for the love of your dreams? Love cannot be held within the bounds of the earth, and the stars cannot separate two souls from each other. Love is a burning desire to be close again, burning like a fire kindled in the heart; a fire sparkling in a lover's eyes, and nothing warms the soul more than that fire; that companionship found between one and another. The warmth of a body held close by love's arrow cannot bring any more happiness; but to be alone, separated into cold isolation will drive one to the ends of the earth and beyond just to feel that warm touch again. Eventually, love will drive madness and pain into those who fall for others they cannot reach, endlessly driving them in circles, driving their emotions and tearing them apart from within. Will you be ready for the love of your dreams? Or will your dreams become a waking nightmare?Adam is a lonely red fox who lives in the great Canadian north. The smell of pine fills the air each morning as he wakes up to the warm sunlight glistening through the trees. A silent breeze stirs their branches as they sway, dancing harmoniously together as the robins sing their songs. Adam opens the window, which staggers along the wooden frame as it rises. The crisp morning air fills his room as he takes a deep breath. He closes his eyes to focus on the aromas of the rural nature which surrounds him. The smell of the forest brings to him a great calmness. He opens his eyes slowly to see the morning vista. The morning dew sparkles on the evergreen trees, glistening colourfully like diamonds set with emeralds on the royal queen's jewels. The mist flows down the distant mountain faces in calm and gentle leisure, flowing through the woods and filling them with moisture and nourishing their untouched beauty.
Adam lives in a wooden house which he constructed himself. He lives with the earth, sharing her resources with the other animals which live around him. He loves the outdoors, and cares for the forest. Each morning he must hunt and gather food and supplies, and clean water for himself. He cares for the forest and the wildlife, and often spends time relaxing with the birds, flirting with their alluring songs and wondering at their flight. Adam is a very neat and organized fox. Everything is in order in his house, and almost everything he owns he made himself from the earth, of clay and bone, and of stone and wood. Adam knows about technology, and electricity, but chooses not to live with it. He is not seduced by its promise of luxury, and is not tempted by the seemingly effortless lifestyle it procures. Adam finds technology to be destructive, and harmful to the earth which he cares so much for. He finds technology to be driving civilisation away from the earth, much like a spoiled teenager will revolt against his parents, and into an
insatiable greed for more materialistic gratification, and a selfish failure to care for the mother that raised them all and housed them together.
There are three blue jays sitting outside Adam's front door. He opens his door and smiles upon these graceful creatures, and offers them some seed. He crouches down, and reaches out his hand. One of the birds hops over to Adam, and perches on his fingertips, to feed from the seed in his palm. Adam looks up to the blue sky, to admire the rising sun. The air is calm, but cool. Some clouds are gathering in the horizon to the south, possibly indicating an approaching storm. He decided to collect some extra supplies for today and tomorrow, extra wood and food. His wild fruit cultivation had grown lush this year. The apples and berries grew plentiful and sweet. Adam walked over to his harvest, and took just a moment to admire such a sight and appreciate his success. The raspberries popped up in bursts of sweet red, so lush in colour as in taste. He saw this as an opportunity to gather as much as he could. After this he gathered three whole baskets of assorted berries, and a few dozen apples. Adam always had enough firewood because the fire needed to be constantly maintained, not just to warm the house in the cold, but to boil fresh water for cooking and cleaning.
After gathering what he could, he put everything inside the cold storage room downstairs, and set out for a bit of a hike. He went out up to the top of a hill nearby to survey the land and the skies. His prediction about the incoming clouds seemed to be correct by each passing minute, as the clouds came over the horizon growing bigger and darker, slowly making their way over toward this property. Adam hopped onto a tree and made his way up to the top, to see over the tree line. He looked around and up to the great Rocky mountains, which stood with pride and determination rising from the earth's crust. Their frost tipped peaks were so majestic and beautiful in his eyes. Adam took some time to admire this for quite a while until the cool wind swept down from above him, and flooded the forest with the rustling of branches and leaves. He sniffed the air attentively, and felt each scent in his nose. The wind was coming from the south, filling in the void left by the rising hot air that had been lingering for the past couple weeks. He could smell the rain in the wind, and sense the storm coming. He then slid down the tree trunk, and made his way quickly home.
By the time Adam had arrived home the sky had darkened. The rain was approaching just maybe a few kilometres away. On the way home Adam witnessed a great strike of lightning which grumbled low in the distance away. Adam began right away to tend to his fire, and prepare a hare stew for today. He chewed on some parsley and chives as he watched the stew pot boil. After some time the rain could be heard pelting the windows and doors, knocking on the wood and glass as if
the storm sought invitation into Adam's warm home. Adam's stew turned out well, and a warm and tasty meal like this is just what he needs to pass his nerves on a night like this. He put some extra water on after for a nice hot tea after the meal. As the storm passed overhead, the wind really picked up. Adam lit a small tealight candle in a dish and sat with it, eating slowly to appreciate the flavour. This storm was unusually violent today, and as the day stretched onwards into the evening, the windows and doors became battered with the wind and rain, rattling with a harsh and intimidating sound. Adam brewed his favourite tea, a soothing blend of rosehip and hibiscus. He sat in his chair, watching the candle slowly burn itself out. The occasional pelt of lightning would leave the forest shook by the immense crash of thunder, and the sky would be illuminated by the astronomical blue spark of Thor. Adam stood up and walked toward his window, and gazed out into the storm around him. He saw the incredible dance of nature's power and glory light up the sky, flashing and zipping from cloud to cloud. This heavenly wonder had amazed and mystified men for ages into the past. Electricity was one of the final forces of nature to be concurred and tamed by human civilization, but even our power cannot match the almighty strength of Earth and the forces of the gods which circle around her.
Adam had become very excited by this storm, wagging his tail happily as he watched nature at her most fierce display of anger and wrath. The storm will cool the atmosphere, and bring in clean and fresh air into the forest. The rain will bring nourishment to the plants and trees here, and they will grow bigger and stronger and be able to share more gifts of shelter and food with more animals of the wild. Adam hardly had been keeping track of the time, as he loves rain, but a good lightning show is always spectacular enough to take the time away. As the storm begins to wind down, or at least seem to, he decides to head to bed, and sleep. The rain still poured down in great torrents, and the ground was pooling and flooding outside. "I just hope that there's no damage outside." he said to himself as he lays his paws under the blanket. Tomorrow is a new day, and more work is always to be done.I awoke in a daze, startled. Something feels off. Everything was so dark, my house feels so dark and cold, and quiet. I cannot see outside through the window, it is too dark. I walk through the door into the main living room. Everything looks so dark, and out of place.
"Adam . . ."Who said that?"Adam. . . Where are you?"Who is calling me? I heard the voice of a woman, a sweet but lonely sound, as if lost, alone, wondering who is out there."Adam! Please . . .""Where are you? Who is calling me?" I shouted this in confusion, and the fear sends a
quiver through my voice and a shiver down my spine. "Who is calling me?""Adam . . . come here . . to me . ."The sound is coming from outside. I walk slowly towards the front door. Everything is pitch black and colourless. I can feel my heart pounding as I reach for the door handle."Adam!" The feminine voice barked suddenly as if startled."I'm coming!" I replied franticly, trying to open the door. It feels stuck, as if it's jammed, and with some effort I force it open, swinging the door wide."Adam! Wait!"I jump outside only to find nothing at all, except that my house is floating in complete darkness, surrounded by nothing. I try to stop but it is too late, and I begin to fall. I slip off the doorstep, and fall down into this emptiness, this darkness, this void.
"ADAAAM!""Ghaaaah!"Adam shouted loudly as he fell out from his bed, hitting his elbow on the floor. His quilt was thrown over in a heap, and as he stood up, and brushed his fur a little bit, he realized that it was just a dream."What a nightmare!" He said to himself, holding his head, and scratching himself behind his tall perky ears. His ears have a black tip on each, and stand erect on his head, perched up like two great satellite dishes to listen to every sound in the forest. He sat down on his bed, still holding his head. Closing his eyes, he listened for the sounds of the forest. He could hear the wind blowing, calm and collected, as it rustles the trees and bushes. He could hear the sounds of the early robins and the odd owl. He could hear the creaking of his old log cabin, as it breathed with the wind. It was still dark outside, but there wasn't a cloud in sight. Adam looked out the window, into the east, and saw the planet Jupiter and Venus rising in the horizon together, along with the deep blue hue of the warm sun approaching from beneath the end of the earth, as it makes its way up into the sky again to warm the earth for another day.
Adam let out a sigh of relief, which fogged the window slightly, and then slowly faded away. His nose is small and pointy; his chin is white, and reaches down to his furry chest. He is a slender fox, but fit and muscular. His head and back are covered in luminous red fur, which almost glows like a fire in the warm sunlight. His eyes are red too, much like a fire, and his vision is as sharp in day as it is in night. He stretched some trousers on over his shorts, and put a light black coat over him, open down the middle. He rolled up his sleeves as he walked into the living room to check the front door. He unlocked it, and slid it open. He was relieved to see the nature return to his doorstep, as usual. Adam then decided to get his fire going early, and prepare himself some berries and a warm tea to begin his day. The same blue jays met Adam on his front porch as he opened the door
slowly. They stood on his rail, perched in curious waiting, asking for some seed. Adam went inside, and got some acorns and berries to share, and returned to the porch to sit on his chair and let them eat from his hand. One came over and sat on his lap as Adam leaned back in relaxation. Adam held his other hand up, and lightly stroked the graceful bird's wings and tail. The other blue jays seemed almost amused by this, maybe even jealous as they hopped around the porch happily, jeering loudly.
The squirrels were awfully playful today. Maybe it has something to do with last night's storm, but there was some energy about everything today. They all chased each other and jumped from tree to tree, their big bushy tails kept them in balance as they crept along high branches and leaped to and fro. Even the insects stirred with an unusual energy to them. Adam, though, did not have time to play. He had work to do around the house, and so he stood up after his breakfast and morning tea, and began his daily labours. For the rest of that day, though, Adam was left intrigued by his dream. He thought about that voice which he heard calling for him. Such a sweet, but worried voice of a great woman. Adam lives alone, and rarely has contact with modern civilisation because he makes everything for himself. He spent much of his day in the Sun, cleaning his cabin and wondering about that voice. It was so seductive, but he couldn't help to notice how distressed she sounded, alone, looking for him. Did she need help? Or was she trying to help Adam? He pondered about this all day.
That night, Adam had tucked himself in under his favourite quilt. He looked out the window, and saw a clear, dark night over the forest. The stars shone with crisp points of twinkling light, shining like a blanket of gemstones across the dark dress of the night sky. Adam closed his eyes, and soon succumbed to his slumbers."Adam . . ."That voice! I struggle to open my eyes but I can't, they feel so heavy. I can't even move."Adam . . . relax . .""Your voice is so soothing, but I do not know who you are, or why you are here.""Adam . . . relax . . I'm here."I try to open my eyes, but I cannot. I cannot see, but I feel something, like a soft, smooth touch from a woman, gently caressing my body. She stroked my bare chest, and combed my lush fur before reaching her arm behind me and holding me up with her hand on my back. I could barely open my eyes a slit to try to see, when I felt her lips touch mine, with such a soft, loving kiss. I could feel the warmth from her breath caress my neck as she tucked her snout under mine. She held me tighter, and I could feel her breathing and her heart beating. Her body heat transferred into me, and warmed my soul. My heart began to pump, and I felt so exhilarated, so aroused. I had never gotten close to anyone before. Who is she? Why did she come
here, to me? Where is she from? My thoughts are racing with curiosity and passion. I could feel my feet stir when she lifted off of me slowly. Suddenly, in a flash of light, she was gone, and the room got very cold suddenly. I began to feel lighter, and so I tried to open my eyes again.
Adam opened his eyes, slowly, and looked around the room. He was still tucked into his favourite quilt, lying on his back. He held the quilt over him with his hands tucked in front of him. He got up, and shook his head. The sun was just about to crack into dawn. He walked over to his kitchenette, and splashed some cold water on his face, and washed himself. The water flowed over and down his fur, which soaking in, beaded on the surface. He shook his head rigorously, and the water splattered all over the kitchenette. It was refreshing, and woke him up as he went outside for a hike, to admire the song of the early morning robins.Along the walk, Adam decided to climb a tall tree, to get over the forest and get a good look at the sky. The sky is very clear, glowing with a deep blue like a beautiful and pure ocean deep. There were some bright stars overhead, and Adam wanted to get a better view to admire their heavenly beauty. He made his way up a tree, and near the top he perched himself with a view above the forest. He breathed deep, smelling the aroma of the pine and evergreen. The robins sang their morning symphony as the crickets kept tempo with their nightly rhythm. Adam could see Venus and Jupiter again, rising in the east, leading the sun into the morning sky. They both shone so brilliantly, with such constant strength. Their light was very white, reflecting off their planetary bodies from the sun, and shining back through the window that is the sky with strong points of light, bigger in size than the other stars. They do not twinkle, they shine with the light of the sun and share his orbit.
The Sun is like a father unto us, just as the Earth is herself like a mother. Together they breed all life on the land, in the air, and under the sea. The father Sun, with his energy, impregnates the mother Earth's womb, sparking growth with his warmth and light in the fertile land and sea of the Earth. Together, they dance in their everlasting circular orbit; a dance of procreation; turning and spinning, and sharing their fertility and nourishment equally to all those who share this graceful and wonderful planet. Adam watched the sun rise from the tree. It was such a serene moment in time, and he felt that he wouldn't trade it for anything. Like a sophisticated clockwork, our solar system, the Sun and Moon and Earth each keep their timing with immaculate and eternal precision. Adam is the type of fox to admire something practical, like a watch, for its ingenuity but also the aesthetic its functionality will give to it when it is brought to life. He especially sees this in the animals of the Earth. As Adam looked
upon the Earth, and thought of the plants and animals, he reflected on how beautiful each creature is, and yet how practical and mechanical they can be at the same time. God must be quite the handyman to be able to craft such brilliant works of art into life, he thought to himself.
Today was filled with hard work and labour. Adam had to prepare some more firewood, and tend to his crops. After a day's work had finished, Adam retreated back into his small cabin for his evening tea, and watched the Sun set from his front porch. As the Sun set from behind the trees, it shone its warm light as rays through the leaves and branches of the woods, stretching their cool shadows out further and further across the land, until the whole face of the Earth was covered in shadow. The Sun had to make its periodic round across the rest of the Earth to share his light with all the inhabitants, constantly chasing the darkness away, and vice versa, as the darkness chases the light across the equator of the earth as it spins. Tonight was another night, and in part Adam wants to dream again of this mysterious female voice, and yet part of him does not, because these dreams are beginning to haunt him. He briefly reflects upon this before he sets himself to sleep. The room I was in got so cold suddenly. It became so dark, like that familiar darkness of my dreams. I tried to open my eyes, but they still held shut, heavy like rocks. I tried to lift my head, but it was as if it were being held down.
"Adam ..."That voice! "Who are you!" I cried out, "I want to know! I want to see you!""Adam . . . please relax . . ."When she said that, the room immediately filled with heat, and became bright. I felt someone grab my paw, and gently hold it. I could feel from her touch that she is canine, and I felt the pads of her palm, how warm they felt. She felt so warm, and so soothing. I reached up, and felt her chest. Her fur was dense, like that of a great winter coat, but so soft and snug. She held my paw closer into her chest, so I could feel her heartbeat. It pumped with the rhythm of life, so calmly and regularly. I could feel her breasts as she leaned over me, and kissed my forehead."Adam . . .""Yes," I replied slowly, "what is it, O lady of my dreams?""Adam . . you are so . . beautiful . . not in body, but in soul. . ."She reached over again, and felt my forehead with the back of her paw. She then placed her palm on my forehead, and I could feel the heat from the pads of her paws. They were so warm, almost hot. I struggled to force my eyes open, just to get a glimpse of who she is, the woman of my dreams. I struggled, and forced them open with all my might. With one last push, I was able to lift them to just enough to see her. Her fur shone with brilliance, with such a pure white, shining with the might of the Sun. I could see that she was some sort
of canine, like a wolf, but very tall. She must be even taller than I am. I watched, but my eyes fell closed again.
"Adam . . ." she said softly, "do not worry . . we shall meet again . . .""Don't go," I uttered, under all the weight of sleep, "don't leave me alone.""Adam . ." she said in a fading voice. I could feel her heat dissipate as the room got cold and dark again, and my body lifted. I then lifted my head slowly, and opened my eyes.It was another dream. Adam sat up in his bed, and placed his feet on the floor, sitting on the bedside. He felt so lost, so alone all of a sudden. He wondered so deeply who this could be, and why he was having such strong and vivid dreams of her. He looked up, to the ceiling, and closed his eyes. He took in a deep breath, and held it for a moment. He then let it out, slowly, trying to clear his mind of thought, but he couldn't stop thinking about her. Who is this mysterious woman, this siren who attracts Adam with her voice, and lures him in his dreams? Adam then lay back in his bed, and just thought about her bright white fur.Adam had been plagued with these dreams for quite some time now. He was often becoming distracted in thoughts of this mysterious female image, and becoming slightly distraught by the thought that these were only illusions and dreams, products of his mind, and nothing more than that. Adam was almost becoming obsessed with her, and yet frustrated because she doesn't even exist.
A warm beam of sunlight made its way through the window one morning, and onto Adam's face. He felt it's warmth, and it only reminded him of this woman. He sighed gently, and smiled with such a small grin, but subdued his happiness with the thought that she is only a figment of his imagination. It was only just a dream.Adam stepped outside, to smell the morning air. The wind swept across his fur like in the great grass fields of the prairies. Adam looked up to the morning blue sky. The Sun was up, but he noticed a star, still lingering, still shining even in this brightness. Is this Venus, he thought to himself? No, it's too high in the sky, that's not Venus. As Adam watched this curious star, he thought to himself about his dreams, and wished upon this strange star that he could meet this woman who stalks him in his sleep, and comes to him in his dreams. That night, his prayers were answered. As Adam slept in his bed, and as night swept the land in darkness and into a motionless silence, he awoke in a very peculiar manner.
"Adam . . ." She called out."I'm here," I said, calling to her, "I'm here, please, why do you court me in my dreams? I want to meet you, and be together finally.""Adam. . . you are very beautiful, not in body, but in soul. Adam . . I wish to be together with you, but we cannot be together here, in your small cabin which you laboured so
much to build. We mustn't, but we can flee, to be together . . ."Please, O siren, I would even veer off course, and sink my ship, and lose my home lest I risk losing you again to the shadows of mystery which shroud you in my mind.""Adam . . just say the words . . say that you wish to be together . . say that you will sacrifice everything to be together. .""O beautiful woman, show me that you are more than just an illusion of my mind. Liberate my soul from this prison. I wish to be together, and I will sacrifice everything I have, even my life, to be together as one, and share our warmth together in this cold and empty place.""So it shall be done. ."Adam awoke in a daze, his body cold, and stiff. He could barely lift his eyes open. Everything felt sore. He could only muster the strength to grunt, and moan.
"Ugh, where am I?" He asked, in confusion.A tall figure walked toward him. The ground beneath her feet echoed with a metallic harmonic. Adam noticed through his eyelids that this room was very bright, with a very cold colour of light shining down on him like a spotlight. He felt a warm touch on his hand, and felt the heat absorb into his cold body."Adam," she spoke, "welcome to my home."I opened my eyes, and everything was so blurry. Still, out of all this confusion I could tell I was no longer at home. I was on what seemed to be a stiff padded bed, no, not a bed, more like some sort of medical observation unit. The lights were so bright, and cold at the same time. As I looked around, I could see lots of very modern, advanced computers. I could not tell what was written on them. I could not make anything out."Adam, you must rest." She said, "I am here for you, but please, try to relax."I lay back down, and shut my eyes. Surly this is just another dream, but I can feel everything. I can feel the bed I'm on, so cold and hard. I can feel my body, so cold and stiff. I open my eyes again, I feel as if I am just regaining consciousness after a few hundred years of slumber, so heavy and sore. I sat up again, this time with focus in my eyes, and I saw the snowy figure of my dreams.
"It's you! You are the one from my dreams!" I shouted in excitement. She leaned over, and put her paw on my forehead. "Hush, my darling," she said quietly, with such a soothing tone, "you must rest. You have only begun the reanimation."Her palm was so warm on my forehead, and massive at the same time. I could now feel how big she actually is.Her words echoed in my mind though. She sounded so clear, so lucid, but what baffled me was what she actually said."Reanimation?" I asked. She stroked my stomach, and pet my fur. I looked up at her, and saw her face. She had the body of a white arctic wolf, with bright white fur which streaked with silver veins. Her breasts were
small but round, and well supported by her suit. She wore a tight fitting suit which seemed to be knitted of some kind of metallic fabric, which glistened in the bright lights in this cold room. Her suit seemed to caress her curves, and support her body. Her ears were perky and erect, and her eyes shone with a strong red tone, like a burning flame, like the fire burning in my soul which desires to be with her, to feel the warmth of her paws, and her kiss on my cheek.
I could see worry on her face, though."My name is Aidan." She said, quietly. She turned to me, and smiled, but underneath her smile she looked sad, and worried.I tried to sit up, but she leaned on me. I could feel her weight against my chest."Close your eyes, please, you must rest." She said calmly. So I laid back down, and closed my eyes. Maybe she is right, I should rest, but aren't I dreaming anyway? If I were dreaming, why does everything seem so real? I feel stiff, sore, and cold.Aidan stood up slowly, and walked around me where I lay. I could feel the air flow around her graceful body as she moved. I could smell her scent, so strong and pleasurable."Adam, when I asked if you were willing to sacrifice everything..." She stopped mid-sentence, as if she were trying to tell me something, but was having difficulty finding the words for it; difficulty explaining something that would be hard to understand. "Adam, you have such a beautiful soul." She eventually said."You said this before, that I am beautiful not in body, but in spirit." I answered with intrigue.
"Adam, you care for the Earth much more than anyone else on that planet. You care for the animals, and love the nature. You live with the Earth, and not just on her." She sighed. "Adam, I have been monitoring you for months now. I have been attracted to your spiritual essence." She walked over to me, and sat down beside me, stroking my chest. "Adam, you radiate with honesty and compassion. Your soul burns with righteousness and honour."She leaned over, and kissed my cheek. I felt so happy inside of myself, and opened my eyes. I saw Aidan, and looked into her face. Her snout was fairly slender, and her eyes were red like a burning coal, like an ember which refuses to burn out, but will continue to shine with brilliance, and spark another flame."Adam, how do you feel?" She asked, as she placed the back of her paw on my forehead. "You have warmed up some."I leaned forward, and held her hand in my lap, when I noticed my body, I noticed something strange about it, something off."Adam," she answered, as if she knew what I was thinking, "this is your new body. I have brought you up here in spirit to be together with me. It is the only way."
"What!?" I exclaimed, jumping up. I began to panic, and my heart began to pound my chest. I felt short of breath all of a sudden, and
slumped over, and collapsed on the floor."Adam!" She cried out, as she rushed to my side, "Adam, please, you must relax!""Relax!? What do you mean relax? What kind of nightmare is this turning into? I want to wake up! Wake up!" I shouted this, holding my eyes closed and clutching my head. Every joint in my body was sore. All my muscles were stiff. This room was so cold and yet so bright. "Where am I? I just want to wake up! Wake up!""Adam, you spoke the words." She said, sadly, "You agreed to sacrifice everything to be together. You sacrificed your home, your belongings, even your body.""So who are you, Aidan? Where am I? Please, tell me what is going on!" I cried out, as I felt tears swell in my eyes. They poured out from my eyes and slid down my cheeks, soaking my face with a damp chill. She took her paw, and wiped my face, and held me close in her chest. She pushed my face into her breasts, which were so soft and furry. He held me tight against her body, and I could feel how warm she was.
"Close your eyes, Adam," she said quietly, "close your eyes and listen to my heartbeat."I did just that, her fur was so lush, like a great winter coat from the wild wolves of Nunavut. She smelled so clean, so feminine. I nestled my snout into her cleavage, and she giggled with a sigh of relief. I could feel my lips draw back into a smile, and I began to feel calm. She took her paw and stroked the back of my head. She licked my neck, and rubbed her nose into my fur. She then began to massage my ears, as she rested her snout on my shoulder."Adam," she said quietly, almost as a whisper, "can you stand? I want to show you something."I opened my eyes, and looked at her again. She seemed so real, but I felt so out of body, so off and out of place. I tried to think back to my home, but I couldn't remember it. I couldn't remember anything, actually. My mind was blank. She took hold of me under my armpit, and slowly we stood up together. I leaned on her for support, and she offered her shoulder to me as she guided me through this cold and bright room. I looked at the equipment which surrounded me, almost like strange, futuristic medical examination tools. The bed I awoke in was more like a padded examination table. The computer terminals and screens were filled with what seemed to be anatomical analysis and diagrams, but were written in some strange language I did not understand.
We walked out of the room, and around a circular corridor. The walls were made of some sort of metal, and shone with all sorts of pilot lights and adorned with small conduits and ducts wrapped around the hallway. Everything was round, the ceiling, the halls, the doors. It was all very modern, but stylish. She led me to a small area, of which when I saw inside this room, everything just seemed to stop. We had just walked into some sort of cockpit, like some sort of
advanced and secret military jet. There were pilot lights and controls and information everywhere, but what was the most stunning was out the dashboard, what I saw out the window.I saw the Earth, that blue sphere, swirling with clouds over the vast oceans, like vast white spirals, whirling around high above the land and sea. I could not believe my eyes, and so I turned to Aidan and asked, "Am I dreaming?""Adam, I have taken you into my ship so we can be together." She said, "I transported your soul, your divine living essence, into this new body. Your old body lays in your house, deceased. This ship, my ship, this is your new home; our home. We will share everything together for hundreds of years to come. Every adventure now will be ours."
Suddenly, my legs became very weak, and I fell to the floor. My head started to spin, and I felt as if I was going to vomit. I didn't know what was worse, that this was real, or that I can't tell if this is real. I lay on the floor, numb and cold. Everything went dark again.I must have fainted, because I woke up again in the medical room. I looked around the room, at each alien instrument, at each coloured light, and at each computer screen. Aidan was not in the room but walked in shortly after I woke up. She stood in front of the door, and had a very worried look on her face. I felt scared, but her presence calmed me."Adam, you cannot return to Earth now. Not only is your old body now dead, but once you have looked upon a ship like this, and seen my face, you cannot return to normal terrestrial life." She sighed, looking down. "It simply cannot happen. I am so sorry to do this to you, I don't know what I was thinking."I watched her eyes swell up, and she began to cry. She hid her face, and ran out the room, but I jumped up and chased after her. I found her in the hallway, leaning against the wall as she slid down into a crumpled slouch on the floor, crying.
"Adam, I just saw you, how lonely you were, and alone. And me, I feel so lonely up here. I wish you would understand, I wished for the best for us both." She began crying audibly, and it hurt me inside to see this. She is still the woman of my dreams, and I quickly approached her, and on my knees, and held her in my body. She laid herself on the floor, her weight pulling me down on top of her. She was nearly twice my height, and I felt almost lost in her dense fur. I stroked her, and tried to sooth her."Aidan, "I spoke softly, "you are the woman of my dreams, my wish upon a star." I reached down, and kissed her on her cheek. "Nothing in the Universe can keep us apart now, the bounds of the Earth could not keep us apart, and neither will the stars. My darling,"I stood up, and extended my paw. She looked at me, her face damp with tears, and smiled, except this time I could see the happiness come through in her face. Her happiness shone through
her eyes, and lit up her face with such a warm glow that it touched my heart. She grabbed my paw, and as much as I could support her weight, I helped her up. We then walked together to the cockpit of the starship, and together watched the Earth as we floated away. We watched the earth slowly fading away into that pale blue dot, fading away into obscurity among millions of others just like it, until it was indiscernible among all the others in this vast Universe. Eventually, the Earth was nothing more, and we were together, alone in this emptiness, to shine our light into this darkness. Love knows no boundaries, and together we will come to know that. Together we shall share our spirits, and become one with each other, forever.
