This is a longer version of my story demon days which felt rushed and incomplete
"DAMNIT MONSTER GET OUT MY HOUSE!" the human yelled as I ran from his home several things hitting the ground near me, after running until I was 5 houses over I lent against a fence and caught my breath.
I was surprised that new humans had moved into that house since I normally hid in there at night when the old occupants had lived there, they themselves were an old couple and couldn't move too fast in their old age so it was safe for me to sneak in sleep then sneak back out since they couldn't catch me. I kept on walking through the snow for a while wondering where I was going to stay since it was winter and very cold outside, I sat with my back against another fence hoping no one would see me while I thought about it.
After another short break I was about to get up and leave when freezing cold water poured over me, I looked up and two human boys held a bucket and laughed at me, they called me a freak before running off still sniggering.
I got up shook my self dry and continued walking, I wondered why humans detested me so much and realised where I was when a human girl slapped the back of my head and ran off yelling minger, I looked around to get my bearings and saw nothing but shops so I was in the town centre.
I noticed myself in a shop window that was more like a mirror right now from the cold, I was 14 and about 4 foot 9 and a human body with dogs legs and ears along with fur covering everything except my face, shoulders, forearms and chest, I was wearing simple rags and a scarf I had taken one day from some ones backyard and my hands wear normal except for the first two digits on each hand being like dog paws complete with claws.
A brick flew over my head narrowly missing my head, I looked for who had thrown it and there was a big group of humans holding pitchforks, shovels, pipes and guns, I ran with them in tow shooting and missing while giving an unrelenting chase.
I thought of something and it was risky but my best bet at getting away from my assailants, I ran into a house and rushed through the owners living room startling them and somehow knocking several things over as I passed.
I kept running and passed through a park and jumped into a drainage ditch, after I ran out of breath I hid in a corner and saw that they had given up the chase, I climbed a nearby ladder albeit with difficulty because of my legs and feet.
I was in another shopping district and maybe the biggest of them all, I smelt bread and noticed a bakery was throwing out bread that had not come out from the oven correctly and was ether burned or not shaped well, bread consisted of most of my diet along with anything else shops threw out all though I was always thin and weaker than humans no matter how much I ate.
I ran over once the human left and grabbed as much of the bread as quickly as I could, after grabbing 7 pieces I heard a growl and turning around saw some dogs that wanted the bread for themselves, I took what I could and ran down the nearest back ally with the dogs barking behind me.
After running until I ran out of breath again I collapsed next to a wall and started eating my bread and after I finished something landed on my head then bounced into my lap, I picked the thing up and a human man's voice spoke.
"its called a hot-dog but don't give a second thought to the name there isn't any dog in it just things like chicken tendons and stuff like that y'now what they couldn't turn into proper food".
I looked up and saw a man with short blue gelled back hair led down on his back on the wall dressed in jeans black shoes a thick jacket and some glasses. He opened his eyes and looked at me with a smile but it wasn't like a warm heart smile it was just cocky probably since he knew he'd cornered a demon. I was frozen in the spot my mind wanting to move but my legs disobeying.
"kid don't worry I'm not with that demon hunting group over there so just chill and eat" I looked around and saw some humans at the end of the alleyway, someone shot a gun and knocked a watch out of the humans hands.
The human grabbed the watch out of mid air with one hand then my arm with the other, "you asses that's my mothers watch" he yelled before running with me in tow.
We kept running and soon I began to run out of breath and came to a tall barricade that was probably set up by the hunters, the man cursed several times before he started trying to climb I scrambled over the wall feeling a bullet graze my right ear while the human looked at me in surprise.
after we both got over the wall I continued to follow the strange man since I had no other options with a demon hunting group so near and he seemed to be an okay guy if he hadn't pulled a gun out on me yet,
after we passed two houses he stopped at a big warehouse and tapped a brick in the wall five times and a door opened out from the wall then the human and i walked through into a room with beeping machines and a few tables and chairs.
"hey nanny may got another one for ya and its got some good climbing skills too maybe he can help clear out the cupboards" a woman with white skin short red hair and dressed in a green dress walked into the room, "Okay Kenneth I swear if you ever call me that again I'm going to kill you slowly and secondly that's your job you cant offload it to others".
I sat on the floor where I waited for the humans to stop arguing which seemed to take forever and it didn't help I was still soaked with cold water thanks to my fur. I started sneezing badly which drew the humans attention to me, "Woaw Kenneth what is that thing".
Kenneth shrugged his shoulders "hell if I know but he was eating bread that a baker tossed out for the dogs so I brought him back here since it looks like he needs serious help, a bath and maybe some towels"
"That's hardly good but I still want to know what he is", it seemed like they she had never seen anything like me which was plausible however she must have know I was a demon.
Kenneth pulled a chair out then sat on another opposite "kid have a seat we need to talk" I walked over to the chair and sat on it my heart starting to race faster every second, kenneth took out a notepad and a pen "ok kid if we're going to help you I have to put you on a register so what's your name"
I just looked at him since I had no idea what my name was if I had one and humans had always called me demon or monster and rarely freak as well, the human asked again and I looked down suddenly feeling embarrassed.
"hmm May take care of this I need a drink" Kenneth got up and walked into another room and the other human called May took his seat saying something about him being lazy "okay why don't you tell me your name then I won't have to call you kid like Kenneth has been".
I kept looking at my feet since I didn't want to tell her I had no name, she let out a small gasp then flicked through some papers she had "damn nothing in here about nameless children"
"I'm not a child you idiot I'm a demon with great power" I said all though it was a complete lie since I had only been around for 14 years as far as I cold remember and the demons I had seen hunted were much bigger than me and I was also weak since a few humans beat me up and left me to die but I healed fast and always survived.
she put the papers down and put a hand under my chin then lifted my head so I was looking at her then she started speaking again "I'll keep that in mind all powerful god and ask a different question okay how far back can you remember so we can get some background information", I thought about and remembered a bunch of stuff but mostly just things I had done to survive then suddenly something came to me very clearly.
A dark room with a man and woman fighting over something in the doorway, suddenly there was a scream and the woman fell over clutching her stomach and the man came over to where I was and picked me up.
"you filthy fucking hell spawn I'm going to make sure you don't live to see tomorrow" I was thrown over to the door way then kicked me onto the landing near the stairs, the man walked towards me and I knew he was going to kill me if I didn't do anything,
I picked up a bat and ran at him but he just grabbed it and ripped I out my hands before kicking me back to the stairs, I looked at the human who was hell bent on killing me and I filled with hate for him.
I covered my eyes and waited for something to hit me but instead I heard a pain filled yell, looking up I saw the human had a knife in his arm which he pulled out and pointed at me, "hell spawn your not going to kill me easily trust me I refuse to die while your kind wander the earth"
I backed up to a wall and closed my eyes waiting for pain but for the second time it didn't come instead I heard a great crash and opened my eyes to lots of broken plates on the floor,the plate pieces rose into the air and circled the man before finally all stabbing into him at once, there was a blood curdling scream and the man dropped dead on the floor, I curled up and cried at the horrific site I had caused.
"what the hell happened in here... oh shit Ken wake up, Ken!" I opened my eyes and I was back at the place with the humans kenneth and may, I was filled with a sense of terror instead of the friendly sense of comfort I had before and another human had come into the room this one black with long brown hair and wearing some cream pants and a white T-shirt.
I realised I was being held in a hug which had only happened once before with a blind girl who thought I was a dog but when she felt my humanoid shape she ran terrified and got hit by a car only moments later.
I asked what she was doing slightly shocked and May let go of me saying that I started screaming like I was in pain and she tried to comfort me when everything started spinning in the air, she noticed something and started asking questions again "what happened to your ear its all bloody I didn't notice it before",
I felt my ear which started to hurt madly and there was a sizeable hole at the edge of it that was bleeding a lot. May ran out telling me not to move and I obeyed just sitting there watching the other woman from before trying to bring Kenneth around from his unconscious state, after a few moments may came back with a white box that had a big red plus on it and a bucket.
"okay hold still I'm going to fix up your ear okay" she opened the box and picked some stuff out of it and put it on the ground next to the bucket, "I am not going to life to you this is going to sting at the least" she picked a wet rag out of the bucket then started washing my ear where the bullet had hit it which made me wince in pain, after that she bandaged it as best she could.
"That's going to take a few days to heal unless of course demons have super healing powers or something" I nodded and sat in a corner while everyone in the room started putting things back in there right places and eventually I fell asleep from boredom.
When I woke up I was led down on something comfortable with a blanket over me and I was also dry and warm now, I sat up and looked around, the room was too dark for a human to see in but I had good night-vision so thanks to a high window I could see somewhat clearly.
There was a table underneath the window that I could climb onto and get enough hight to look out the window, outside it was snowing and it made me glad I was inside and not out there where the snow was heavy.
I heard the door opened, I froze on top of the table until I heard May's voice, "didn't expect anyone to be in here since Kenneth said he would put you somewhere safe but this room doesn't even have a lock which isn't good for you" I sat down still on the table and nodded "also your naked here's some cloths" she threw a bag at me and left the room quickly.
After I got dressed in some black baggy pants and a vest nothing I left the room and found may waiting for me, "so how do you feel then you were asleep for a while and I noticed you whimpering as well before kenneth took you away to put you somewhere safe" I shrugged my shoulders "I feel like I all ways do lost and a little scared since humans have always had it in for me and now I'm in a building supposedly full of them".
May looked at me for a few moments then asked me if I was sure I was 14 since I seemed to have a bad memory and she also thought I might have amnesia", I told her I was 14 maybe give or take a year then told her about my flashback earlier and after I finished I could feel tears welling up in my eyes along with a feeling of fright and pain I hadn't felt before.
may knelt down a little and gave me another hug this time holding my face into her shoulder and scratching my good ear "hey hey calm down its okay now".
"h-hey why are you guys being nice to me anyway I nearly killed you and humans have always been trying to end my life too" may let go of me and said that the reason Kenneth had called her nanny May was because she couldn't help but look after children who needed help.
After our emotional moment was over may took me back into the room with the beeping machines and told me to sit in a chair across from herself and kenneth who spoke as soon as I sat down, "kid you have some amazing talent and we have agreed that you can stay here in this building as long you want and we also want to let you know that we talked with our demon species specialist and there isn't anything like you on record so your going to be staying with her since she is the closest thing to your own kind"
I noticed he was pointing under the table and when I looked there was a huge wolf under there, "she's a shape shifter but this is her natural form so we think she should be able to look after you without much trouble since my guess is your both canines" I nodded and felt something brush my leg.
"hmm your fur smells horrible so you need to take a bath before you come to my home or have one straight away when we get there" I yelped in surprise as a cold nose ran over my neck which was followed by laughter, I spun around and there was the giant wolf now standing on two legs and also completely naked.
"LIN'THA FOR GODS SAKE IF YOU'R GOING TO STAND ON TOW LEGS AT LEAST COVER YOURSELF FOR GODS SAKE!" Kenneth yelled angrily, after Kenneth and Lin'tha finished arguing I got some more cloths on to hid my canine features and Lin'that morphed into a human and got dressed, the walk to what would be my new home was quite and cold.
Lin'tha kept her word as I was shoved into the bath room and told to wash while she made some dinner the moment I stepped into her house, I stepped into the shower recognising it from a description the girl I killed had told me, I remembered she talked about lots of things for the few days she knew me and they were all random things too.
I spent several minutes just enjoying the sensation of warm water going over my fur and skin before I remembered I was supposed to be washing, after lathering up with soap I rinsed thoroughly then dried myself with a towel.
When I got out the shower I found Lin'tha asleep on her back on the sofa in her living room with her tong hanging out her mouth , 2 plates one empty and the other with some hot food on it, I ate the food slowly enjoying the taste of it which was much better than the bread I ate. I took the plates into the kitchen and left the on the counter.
I realised how thirsty I was and I looked through the cupboards for a glass but there wasn't any, they must have been in the over head cabinets so I grabbed a chair since they were just out of reach and took a glass, I put the glass on the counter top and got off the chair to put it back.
I heard a slight growl and turned round to see Lin'ha at the door on two legs with a dressing gown on, "if your going to make a drink please do it quietly or wake me up so I don't think someone is stealing my stuff" I nodded quickly made myself a drink.
When I had finished drinking Lin'tha showed me to my room and also told me not to go into her room since, I led down on my bed thinking about everything that had happened today, I undressed and moved under the bed covers then curled up, I was more comfortable than I had ever been so i had no trouble sleeping.
When I woke up I could hear slow heavy breathing, I poked my head out from under the covers and there was to my horror a huge 3 headed dog in the room dribbling and growling, I hid under the covers again and started begging not to let it find me since here was no chance of me winning in a fight against it.
The bed covers were pulled off my bed and I could hear a man laughing, when I looked up I saw kenneth laughing and the monster was gone, "damn you should have seen your face sleepy to terrified in 2 seconds" he said before he continued laughing.
Kenneth left and I got dressed before going downstairs, Lin'tha was giggling and apparently annoying Kenneth by calling him Kenny, "listen you stupid bitch if you keep calling me Kenny I will set you on fire and throw you into a blender" Kenneth yelled but Lin'tha just kept saying 'kenny Kenny' in a simple tune.
Kenneth growled and yelled 'fox fire' which caused some blue flames to appear in his hand, he threw it at Lin'tha and she caught on fire, I ran into the kitchen and looked for something to put water in and saw a tub in the kitchen sink. I filed it and took it into the living room however Lin'tha was no longer on fire and she didn't even look burned or hurt.
"kid my magic is illusion magic so I can't ever do any damage" kenneth said sitting down on a chair and picking a few leaves of a plant, Lin'tha started giggling again which annoyed Kenneth who asked what was funny "your magic dosnt work ha ha nan nan nan" she said and kenneth retorted by yelling "at least I can pull of magic"
Lin'tha stayed quite long enough for kenneth to calm down but it was short lived when she started talking again "Kenny is a kitsune, Kenny is a kitsune" she kept saying and kenneth who I thought would lose his temper instead hid his face behind his hands then started talking in a calm voice "Lin'tha why do you hate me so much that you tell every demon you know that".
I asked what was wrong with being a kitsune and kenneth explained that kitsunes were very feminine even the males, I asked him to prove it and he told me to look away for 5 seconds which I did even though it was an odd request.
When I looked back the human I knew as kenneth was gone and in his place a red fox in his cloths, "I hate looking like this for the record especially because of the extra chest fur" he did indeed have more fur on his chest then the rest of his body and noticeably his voice had changed and was now one of those voice where you couldn't tell if it was a man or woman.
"damn this is uncomfortable" he said before pulling two tails out the back of his pants, "anyway this is what I look like very morning since like shape shifters kitsunes always return to their natural form when they sleep" I nodded and Kenneth said he would try to keep an illusion up so he didn't have to kill any plants to transform.
Lin'tha told me to go and follow him since she had a job to get to and I wasn't safe here by myself. I followed Kenneth from a distance until I got to the building from before. Someone grabbed me as soon as I walked into the alleyway next to the building and turned me to face them,
"just for the record kid I don't like being followed" kenneth said in his true form before pulling me into the building next to us,"hey May the kid followed me so remind me to set Lin'tha on fire during her hangover for letting him", May looked up from a desk of papers and said okay before noticing he was a kitsune and she burst out laughing.
After Kenneth explained what he was to May he told me to go through a door and even though May objected I decided to anyway, the room I stood in had eight beds along one side of the room and the other side had a TV, sofa, 4 desks and some toys. "this place is an orphanage kid all the people in this building don't have their parents anymore so make sure not to bring it up"
Kenneth walked over to a small group of 4 people, James was a rugby player for his school before a traffic accident and he lost both his left arm and family, Zoe was frequently in the lonely hearts corner and she often drew pictures of 'dark things' as kenneth put it, Gordon was a near complete outcast since he was your classic American movie nerd who was always indoors and finishing some sort of work and then on the computer for the rest of his spare time, victor was a smoking addict going cold turkey and also depressed since he accidentally killed his parents by causing a house fire when he was six which was something he still blamed himself for.
"right guys this one can't hide in any of our houses which was a preferable option to keep him out of the public eye but no one can be around to keep an eye on him since we are all single and have jobs so he's hanging out with you got it" they all said sure and yes and I was left alone with them.
"so what are you anyway" asked Victor, I told them I didn't even know, they talked about random things that had happened recently and about their problems but not about themselves.
"hey how come all of you are friends you don't seem to have much in common" I said, victor suddenly looked smug "we are all very alike actually since we are all outcasts but we are diverse and stand up for or aid each over in some way or another" I nodded and let them keep talking.
Eventually we all started to watch TV with Victor James and Gordon on the sofa, me on the floor and Zoe led on a desk that James moved since the sofa only had room for three but no one complained. I felt something start scratching my ears.
I shook my my head and James started speaking "oh sorry thought you were a dog then" I said it was okay, "hey everyone how are you I came to pick err the demon kid" I looked around the sofa and could see Kenneth in his true form, I said goodbye to everyone and left with Kenneth.
"hey how come Lin'tha couldn't come and get me?" I asked, Kenneth seemed to be thinkig about it and I said his name which brought him back to earth, "oh yea if shape shifters drink anything with alcohol 3 hours later they get very giddy and then 6 hours later they get a bad hangover so she couldn't come".
When we got to Lin'tha's house Kenneth departed saying he had some work to do and to insult Lin'tha for him, when I got inside Lin'tha was led on the sofa as a dog with her tong hanging out, as I passed her she said that she was never drinking again.
I walked into the kitchen and looked around for something to eat, I found something that looked like little pieces of meant and put them in the oven, the oven had 5 dials and a button so I turned one and pressed the button. Fire lit up in the main part of the oven and I put some of the meat in.
after watching it for a while I thought it was done and retrieved my food making sure to turn off the oven, I ate the food quickly and left the plate in the sink, I noticed that it was late now nearly 10 o'clock and decided to go to bed.
Again I thought about everything that had happened today and wondered if I would end up being friends with those so called outcasts and if my life would continue this way, sleep overtook me and I faded into dreaming.
