It was all over, and now looking at each other they noticed they were both staring straight back into one another's eyes. No words were spoken and silence began to fill the air, until it was broken by Tom who couldn't help but break the silence with a question. "Erm........ James.........." "Yes?" "W.. why'd you kiss me?" Tom gave him a look as to say, I don't approve, but his expression was soon wiped off his face with what James had to say to that look. "Why'd you kiss back?" All James could do at this point was grin at the reply he just gave. "Well...... I didn't know you were, you know......... I didn't think you liked me" "I don't........." After that was said there was a brief silence as Tom began to think about what he'd just heard James say to him. Before he had a chance to notice or even react to what was coming to him, James leaned up and kissed Tom again before pulling away gently. "No, it's much more than a like.......... Err, what I mean to say is...... Well, I Love You." James began to blush with thoughts about what he'd just done. He'd never kissed another guy before, especially not out in the open, and never in his life would he have ever thought he'd say those three "Special" words to one. But it was kind of late at night and dark, so no-one would see them anyway, not that he cared if anyone saw, unless it was someone who they knew. Tom lent down and kissed his new friend back and pulled away to speak again. "I Love you too, and was kinda wondering, well, if you'd wanna, maybe we could go ou........." James had already figured out what Tom was about to say at this point, so decided to kiss him before he could finish his sentence as a sign of agreement. Pulling him closer Tom began to return the kiss, rolling and cuddling together on the side of the grass hill with a view of the now moon lit lake and campus buildings. Down below mini fires were lit and crowds of fur's were standing around them for warmth most likely chatting or telling all sorts of amusing stories to one another. Tom pulled away from the kiss and took off the necklace that he was wearing and tied it around James's neck. "This necklace was given to me a long time ago, by someone who loved me very much. And it's so very special to me that I never took it off since the day it was placed around my neck......... I want you to have it." Tom was looking into James's eyes with a look of total happiness as he saw James look back at him with that warm loving smile of his, the kinda smile that just made you're heart melt. After a minute of silence, James was still sitting down next to Tom wearing the necklace as he felt his heart race. In one swift movement he instantly pushed Tom over and pounced on top of him kissing him again like before. They were hugging each other as tight as they could while they kissed, feeling every inch of love between them. They both continued kissing for a few more moments before a voice was heard near by along with a slow sarcastically mocking clapping sound which startled them both making them practically jump out of their fur. "Ha-ha! Ohh, So Sorry to interrupt you two ‘Love Birds' but I'm leaving, so unless you wanna walk the next 2 hours back you should come with me to the van." Scott was stood lent up against a tree glaring and smirking at the two, trying to keep in his laugh. "SCOTT!!!!!!!" Tom shouted out at him, at this point Scott couldn't tell what Tom was angrier with, him interrupting or having to leave? "What? Not my fault you're out in the open? Besides, I'm Gay too ya know, so don't go getting you're panties in a wad, Sheesh." Scott wasn't at all bothered by what he'd seen, but it's not his choice to make, so he shouldn't really get involved. Tom on the other hand was still embarrassed about getting caught kissing James by his older brother, and James wasn't even moving at this point, only staring at Tom's brother who'd just practically walked in on them (even though there not indoors) "Come on? Get up! I want to go NOW!" Scott was starting to get annoyed with them both as he was beginning to tire and had work in the morning. After hearing Scott start raising his voice like that, the two jumped up and started walking down the hill again to the van with Scott before he gets pissed off and decides to leave them there. Walking down the hill, James reached over and held onto Tom's hand, making Tom blush slightly. But feeling the love between them both he holds back, clasping on tightly, not wanting to ever let go. The two climbed into the van along with Scott and after starting the van they made their way back along the dirt road though the trees and then out into the open field once more. It was kinda late out and the two in the back were tired as it had been such a long day, they both sat close to each other on the back seat and started cuddling together in a tight heart warming embrace. Tom was holding onto James like his life depended on it, all the while comforting him. He slowly began stroking and caressing his hand gently along the front and sides of his face and muzzle, sliding his hand smoothly through James's soft, thick fur, causing him to moan softly from the smooth touch of Toms paws. Stroking away Tom continued his handy work until James had fallen asleep comfortably in his warm loving arms. Once asleep, all Tom could do was look at James and think how adorable the lil wolf he was holding in his arms was. Tom hugged him tight and licked the top of his head fur gently before snuggling down with him for the rest of the journey home. *** The Next Morning *** Waking up to the light of the sunrise shining through the window practically blinding him, he sat up and rubbed his eyes. Suddenly he looked about his surroundings and noticed he wasn't at his house, and then he remembered that he'd moved, so chose to ignore the fact that he didn't recognize the room so well. looking about he noticed that the room was empty and there was no-one about at all. He sat still with his ears perked, listening for sounds to check if there was anyone else about the house. After hearing nothing, he slouched his back muscles relaxing more, before getting up and stumbling across to his drawer whilst holding his head in his paws. It was 7:57am and he was at home alone, he thought about the dream he'd had that night and wondered if it was a dream, or if it really happened? He went back over to his bed to think about it. Then suddenly he began remember, all his thoughts and memories of last night, memories of the firework display and the amazing shopping mall he went to, And........................ Tom. He sat on the side of his bed thinking about his memories, trying to work out if it was all just a dream or not until he noticed sunlight being reflected into his eyes. Looking over to his left, he could see that on the side of his bed hooked around one of the bed posts, was the necklace that was given to him by Tom that very night, right after he kis......... "Mornin sleepin beauty!" His dad shouted with a sarcastic grin on his face as he burst through the door into James's new room. "Have a good sleep?" "D...... Dad? When did you......" "Ohh, I got home yesterday and found that you weren't in, so I figured you might have gone to that fire works thing that I saw advertised on a poster you'd left on the side, with you're New Friends." "Well I......" "Hey, Meet Any Good Lookin Girls You Like?" His dad said with a wink. "Erm....... Well Actually." "No! Don't tell me, you've got yourself a girl friend aint ya?" "Well Actually........." "Ahh. That's my boy!" "But....." "Ohh and it was you're friend Tom was it? Well anyway, he brought you home last night, in some sort of van." "Ohh yea, it's his older brothers, but I don't hav........." *Beep* "Ohh, There goes my pager, I'm sorry, but I have to go for now, I'll be back as soon as I can, Talk to you later sport, take care now." After a sudden slam at the door, James's dad had left for another job at work that he's been called out to. James just sighed heavily and fell backwards as he lay upon his bed staring at the ceiling, just wanting time alone to himself, to think. "Well......... Telling my dad that I'm Gay and have a boy friend went smoothly" James said to himself after a heavy sigh. He laid back on his bed, sulking in his own annoyance with not being able to tell his dad about Tom. Feeling sad he knew he needed something to spark him up a bit, to give him some sort of life, and then he thought about something and started to build an idea of what he was going to do for today in his head. Suddenly James got up and was ready in a flash as he quickly grabbed everything he was going to need before going out. Just before he walked out the door to his room he stopped and reached his arm up to feel his neck. He felt nothing and turned to see the necklace, still sitting there wrapped on the bed post. He quickly ran back over to his bed to pick it up and put in on, once on he sprinted down the stairs and straight out the door. Locking it behind him, he then made his way towards the town center and have another look around the shops. It was 10:49am and James had been walking around the town for what seemed like days. The whole town was almost empty, and most of the shops were closed at this point. No-one was in sight, other than a few people hanging up tinsel and setting up lights and other colourful decorations. Finding nothing of interest here, James decided to go for another wander over to where he first met Tom. From a distance he could tell that there was a small group around the fountain, but none of them looked familiar. On his way over to them he saw them all stand up and leave, walking off in separate directions. The only two left by the fountain were two girls, sitting on a near by brick wall. (The same wall Steven and Drake's little brother Cody were sitting on) As he approached the two they both looked into his direction, within his first glance he instantly recognized one of the girls to be Laura. "Well well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" Laura shouted out to James as he made his way over towards them. "Yea, I guess I am?" James not knowing what to say at this point, having only just turned up unexpectedly in hopes to see Tom again. "Ohh, by the way, this is Rebecca, but everyone calls her Bekki" Laura said pointing out the fox standing next to her with a smile seeming overjoyed to meet James. She had blue eyes and a sleek orangey reddish coat, with an average figure for a young fox her age. "Ohh, hi, nice to meet you" James said, reaching out to shake her hand. Stepping forward to shake his hand Bekki reached out to greet him. Leaning over to shake his hand, her foot hit a stone accidentally, tripping her and causing her to fall right on top of James knocking them both to the ground below with a thud. "Ow, Ohh, I'm sorry! Are you alright?" Bekki reached over to where James was and helped him up onto his feet again. The fox looked incredibly emotional, like a little child sadly apologizing for doing something wrong. As James stood up he could clearly see Laura over on the small section of wall almost wetting her self with laughter from what just happened. "Hey, Did I forget to mention that Bekki's well known for being accident prone and a hazard to most people's safety." Laura still laughing at how much of a first impression Bekki made on James. "Hey, that's mean" Bekki looking at Laura with a childishly sad face. "So James, what is you're first impression of Bekki then?" "Erm, ouch?" James rubbing the back of his head while looking at the two. "Ha-ha, ok now that's mean. Besides, she's a loving, caring, and very kindly gentle person. She'd never harm anything, even a fly, no matter how much it might annoy her." Laura said smiling at her to make Bekki feel better about the situation. "Awww, well that's nice, but I should be heading off now" James said wanting to desperately find Tom. "Ohh, ok, see you at the festival then!" "Yea, you too...... Huh... Wait? What festival?" "The town festival? Duh? What did you think those fireworks last night were for?" Laura looked at him wondering if he knew about it or not. "Ok, I haven't got a clue what it is; could you two fill me in please?" James began to worry about not knowing anything about it, at this point he was sorta feeling left out. "Fine, but we need to get ready, so we'll fill you in when we get back to my place, deal?" Laura was more than happy to tell him, just as long as it didn't interfere with her schedule. By this point it was almost mid day and Laura wasn't one for being late. "Deal, let's go........." James being curious about the whole thing wanted to get to Laura's as soon as possible. Walking off along a path passing many houses and crossing a couple of roads they made there way to Laura's house. It wasn't a long walk, but the hills were tiring James out quite a bit. Laura and Bekki seemed fine with the walking, and often had to stop at a hill and wait for James to gap the distance between them. On the way there, both Laura and Bekki were talking about what they were going to wear that night at the festival. This worried James, who had nothing to wear; in fact he still had no idea what it was even about. After one last stretch, they finally got to the top of the last hill they needed to climb to get to Laura's house. (Well, after James's brief struggle to get up it anyway) "Well, here we are, home sweet home." Laura said as she took the first step through the front door and walked into the dining room. James wiped his feet before removing his shoes and placing them on the rack by the door and walked in followed by Bekki. "Ohh, you're home early?" "Huh? Oh hi mom" Laura's mum was an arctic fox just like her. She was fairly short and was quite stout, but she was a real character, and as friendly as ever. "Heya Bekki, you alright?" "Err... yea, fine thanks" Bekki just walked on as normal, feeling a bit shy. (As always) "Good, good, and who's this charming young lad here then?" "That's James, he's new" She said with a huge smile. Laura always liked making new friends, not that she got bored of her other friends, she just enjoyed the feeling of showing someone new around and loved introducing herself in her own special way. "Oh, you must be from the new family that moved into Janie's old home, poor old woman, she was a lovely lady she was. Well, I hope you like it here anyways, come on in and make yourself at home." "Ohh, err...... Thank you" James was a little lost for words not quite knowing what to say. "Awww......... And he's polite too" With that, Laura's mom walked off back into the kitchen to continue with house work or something. Meanwhile James followed Bekki and Laura upstairs. Once at the top of the stairs they went into Laura's room and slumped down on beanbags placed in the corner, and started to relax. James quickly looked around the room, his eyes glancing over everything as he looked around before Laura spoke up. "So, did you catch the fireworks the other night?" "Huh? Ohh, yea, I did......... It was very well done, and very beautiful, I really enjoyed it." James smiled at her after being caught off guard with looking around. "I Loved the ending of it, that last fire work was all Big and Neon Green!" Bekki grinned wildly thinking about how the display ended. James just stared at her thinking about what she just said and why she was smiling Soooo wildly. "Yea, another thing about Bekki you may not know, she's obsessed with the colour neon green, it's her favorite colour, and she loves practically anything else that is." Laura spoke out to James who was still looking at Bekki confused. Bekki instantly looked over at Laura with a sad face, almost as if neon green being her favorite colour was a bad thing. "But it's not a bad thing, because it's who she is, because it's pointless pretending to be someone you're not just to fit in, that's why me and Bekki stand out in the crowd, because were different." Bekki quickly smiled again hearing that, almost as if she was relived to hear someone say she's great the way she is. "Well anyway, me and Bekki need to get ready, so what about the festival are you unsure about?" Laura was quick to ask James about the festival after she had just finished talking about Bekki. "Well......... That's just it, I don't know anything about the festival............" "You Don't Know Anything About It!? But It's Tonight!?" "I know, so what is it?" "Ok, let's start at the beginning............ It's called the Fire Festival. It's held every year on the middle of summer in commemoration for the warmth, light and strength that the sun gives us. There's gonna be music stands playing, stages with small plays or even Fire dancers, magic shows, anything could happen! And everyone's gonna be there. There'll be crowds of furs and they'll all be cheering as they party on into the night. There'll even be a Huge Fire display this year apparently." "Wait? Everyone's gonna be there?" James suddenly became curious hearing that, in hopes that he might see Tom there. "Well, almost everyone, some people don't go so leave town for the night to get away from it, and others just stay at home." "Will Tom be there?" James desperate to know if he'll see Tom again. "Yea, he said he was going to be there, why?" "Ohh, err......... I was just wondering, that's all." James was blushing at this point, and his light grayish fur probably wasn't helping to hide it either. "Hmmm........." Laura wasn't very convinced by his reaction that he was telling the truth. But what reason would he have to lie to her about that for? "Hey, that reminds me, what am I gonna wear? I don't have a costume." James changing the subject quickly before Laura asks anymore questions. "Huh? Ohh, don't worry about a costume, I've got a plan." Laura looked at him with a slight smirk. "Ohh......... err, ok?" James just smiled and went along with that. "Hey, Laura, aren't we gonna get ready, we haven't got much time left before the Fire Festival opens, and we have to consider time for getting there as well?" Bekki broke up the conversation and pointed out the time they had left. "Ohh yea, you're right, ok James, we won't be long, we'll be back in about half hour, you don't mind waiting do you?" "No, not at all, as long as you have a costume for me to wear, then I guess I'll have to wait?" With that been said Laura just nodded and went with Bekki into the room across the hall to get ready. *** Half An Hour Later *** Walking back into the room to see James just sitting there with a drink they showed off there costumes. "Well, what do you think?" Laura said as her and Bekki walked back into the room wearing similar looking dresses. The dresses were a dark Fire red with a gold outline for the waist and gold sequins sown on in an exotic pattern. "Wow!? That looks really............ Fancy?" James was beginning to wonder what his costume would look like. Or if he even had a costume? "It's supposed to? Don't you like it?" "No, no? I think it's Lovely." James smiled at Bekki and Laura. "Right, well, I have an extra costume that you can wear, but it's just out of luck that I have it. It was supposed to be my brothers, but he came down sick and isn't going." "Really? Wow thanks." James looked relived at this point. Laura handed him the costume and walked out the room. After a few minutes they walked back in to see James wearing the costume that she gave him. "Hey, I have a question for you." Laura looked at James with a smile trying not to gain suspicion of what she was about to do. "Since you've been here, have you met anyone you liked?" Laura looked down and hid her face making it look like she was taking about her. "Err......... Kinda, it's complicated." James looked away in hopes that there wouldn't be a follow up question. "Really? Wow, are they nice?" Laura was almost there, just waiting for the right moment to ask. "Well, Yea......... I guess they are." James began smiling at thoughts of Tom. "Wow, he sounds really interesting, what's he like?" "Well, he's a really nice, sweet, sensitive guy and I really do lik......... Ohh, Shit!" James looked down at the floor realizing what he'd just said. Within seconds he began crying because he wasn't ready for people to know that yet. He'd only been living there for a few days now. "Hey, there there, there's nothing wrong with liking guys? I have nothing against you, so you have no reason to be sad, ok?" Laura was on the floor with James trying to calm him down and stop him from crying. "R... really? "Of course, look. Bekki's Bisexual, and I'm a bit of a Bi myself really, it's nothing to be ashamed of? And you're secrets safe with us, as long as our secrets safe with you? Ok?" Laura hugged him tight and began smiling at him to try and cheer him up some more. Wiping the tears from his eyes where they'd run down the fur across his face wetting it down slightly, James stood up with Laura and they both walked over to Bekki and hugged her tight in a small group hug. (Bekki just standing there wondering why there hugging her?) "Right, you ok now?" Laura asked feeling concerned. "Yea......... I guess so." James still sniffing and regaining control of his feelings to stop himself from crying. "To be honest with you, I suspected you and Tom were going out when I saw you at the fountain." "What? How'd you know it was with Tom?" James was confused more than ever now, he never mentioned Tom? "Well, when I was little, I remember Tom told me that when he finds the one fur in the world that can make him happy, that can make him feel loved, make him laugh and make him feel nothing instead of the pain he felt before the accident with his brother a few years ago, he told me, the minute I get that One and Only person I want to spend the rest of my life with alone.................. I'm going to give them this and what he showed me on that day, was that same necklace you wear around you're neck. He never took it off for anyone or anything. And now you're wearing it." "But............ I'm nothing special?" James was confused about what he'd herd. "You may think that about yourself, but what he thinks of you, No-one else can imagine." Laura looked at him with the most serious face she'd ever had. "Erm......... I know I'm normally the quiet one here, but if we don't leave right now, WE'LL BE LATE FOR THE FIRE FESTIVAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Bekki Shouted at them both with a roaring scream that could probably be herd from china............... And with the last few seconds taken to regain the ability to hear again, they all quickly left the house and headed for the town's Fire Festival............ End. * * *
