- Chapter: Joyful Reunion?
"A black panther with yellow hair and a tattoo on his left upper arm?" Cani thought for a moment, then answered: "No, I'm sure I could remember someone like that. I'm sorry, Hikaru."
Hikaru lowered his head. He had been thinking about Legato all weekend. He didn't know what to do, because he didn't dare go to his apartment and, as he had just been told, he wasn't a guest at Cani's either. He would like to apologize to him for his behavior and try to make friends with him.
"But why are you asking?" Cani wanted to know and saw Hikaru's head resting on the counter in a bad mood. "Hey, Lil’ bro^^. Don't hang your head. Today is Sunday. How about we go to Atlantis? There are no more guests coming tonight anyway. So let me just close early and then we can both go out for dinner together." Hikaru looked at him lethargic. But then he put his shit together and said: "Okay, why not."
The Atlantis was an evening bar with dim lighting, quiet music for dancing and the best cuisine in Shinjuku; at least by Hikaru’s and Cani’s standards. The brown Wolf and white fox sat down at a table and looked through the menu.
"Go ahead and order whatever you want, Hikaru. It’s my treat," Cani said to him with a smile. "Thanks. But tell me, Cani, we're not on a date or something like that, right?" Cani shook his head amusedly and said: "Oh, come on. Just because Victor is gone for a while, I'm not going to run off with someone else. I just want my Lil’bro to be in a better mood."
-"Oh, Ca-Nii-chan." You can twist and turn it however you want. Cani is and will always be the best "big brother" you could ever have. That was more or less what Hikaru was thinking. But then his thoughts got clouded again by thinking about Legato. Up to the point it was actually irritating him.
"Why, Cani, can't I get this guy out of my head? I mean, we've only just met, I've known him for less than three days and he's been on my mind the whole time." Cani had to sigh loudly. He had a certain suspicion as to what the reason was. But he kept it to himself because it would only upset Hikaru and he wouldn't believe him anyway. Instead, he tried to distract him with something else. "Come on, Hikaru, don't get upset. Let's finally order something." They continued to look through the menu and then ordered their food from the waiter. "Hmm, noodles with chicken in sweet and sour sauce. That'll be a feast, won't it, Hikaru?" The fox, however, seemed to have his thoughts in the clouds again. "Hikaru, stop it now! I'm inviting you to dinner to distract you and what do you do the whole time? How about you come back to reality? It's a beautiful evening by candlelight and with romantic piano music in the background. Something singles like you can only dream of.
"Now he finally understood that Cani was worried about him. "Okay, you're right. I'm going to stop sulking now and concentrate on the evening again." With that said, he began to listen to the beautiful piano music and realized that he knew this melody. It was his favorite song:
One Million Worlds, One Million Lives
Beautiful sound, thought Hikaru. But then he turned around to see who was playing the grand piano. There, on the small chair, was Legato, playing the piano with full concentration. Shocked, Hikaru turned around again and whined to himself: "Shit, Cani, that's him. What should I do?" Cani now also looked at the grand piano and took a closer look at Legato. "Respect, Hikaru. You have good taste."
"Caaaniii!!! This isn't funny!" Hikaru moaned silently, still crouched down.
"Alright, alright. I'd say you just go to him and tell him what you have to say." He looked over to the piano again and added: "And I would hurry if I were you. Because he's just about to leave." Startled by these words, Hikaru stood up and quickly hurried after Legato.
Outside the door he caught him and took a deep breath. Legato looked at him in surprise and said: "Oh, hello. So we meet again."
Hikaru had recovered in the meantime and made a deep bow to Legato while he spoke: "I want to apologize to you." Legato now looked at him in surprise. "My behavior towards you was rude and impudent."
"You forgot to mention stupid and silly," he added to Hikaru, amused.
"What, excuse me???" Now Hikaru felt insulted. He hadn't expected Legato to be so resentful and mean after he just tried to apologize to him. Then he stood up straight again and said to his face: "Well, that's it. I wanted to apologize to you and I did. But if you'd rather just make fun of me, then I'd better go now."
In a bad mood, he turned around and left Legato, who was shaking his head at this reaction. Back in the restaurant, he went back to his seat with his head glowing red and sat down. In the meantime, his food was brought to the table and Cani asked what was wrong? Then Hikaru dropped his head into his plate and just yelled: "I'm a hot-headed, choleric, pathetic and, above all, stupid idiot!"
The next morning, Hikaru was sitting in the classroom and gave the impression that everything in the world was shit. Even Kamui and Arturo were astonished by his bad mood and asked: "Hey, what's wrong with you, Hikaru?" - "Yeah, what's wrong, buddy?" He just looked at them darkly and replied: "I don't want to talk about it."
Kamui and Arturo both looked very confused, but they accepted his request and Kamui asked next: "By the way, how was solving the homeworks for math to you?" Now Hikaru jumped up and called out desperately: "Oh, no! I completely forgot about them! Kamui! Arturo! Could you...?"
But the two just shook their heads and Kamui said: "That would be the tenth time, Hikaru. It's starting to show." Hikaru was close to despair. His friends were right. But the next moment someone held out the math solutions to him and said: "You can have them from me, Hikaru-kun. I'm happy to help you."
It was a gray wolf girl with bright blue eyes who smiled at him in a friendly manner. "Uh, thank you, Varia-San," said Hikaru in surprise and took her notebook.
She smiled again and said: "Oh, no problem. As class representative, it's my duty to help my classmates. By the way, just call me Inuko." Then she went back to the other girls.
"I think she likes you, Hikaru," grinned Arturo. He had already started on his homework and just said: "Oh, nonsense. What makes you think that?"
"Oh come on. The way she just looked at you."
-"Yes, yes, if you think so. Could we please discuss it later? I have to hurry up with copying."
But this conversation never happened. After class was over, they wanted to go to Kamui's house together and do their homework. However, they wanted to check the bulletin board first to see if tomorrow's classes would be changed. Hikaru noticed a poster that said:
Martial Arts Club
Karate, Judo, etc.
Today at 3 p.m.,
in the gym
This aroused Hikaru's interest. He remembered how he had suffered a bitter defeat against Rex and his gang. Kamui and Arturo also noticed that Hikaru was attracted to this poster and looked at him expectantly. "Hey friends, I think I'll join in. What about you? Do you want to join in too?"
The two looked at each other and then answered: "We're sorry, Hikaru. But we're not really interested in something like that."
"I understand, fine." He looked at the clock and saw that it was already five past three. "Well then, friends, see you tomorrow. I'll tell you how it went. Ciao."
-"Have fun, Hikaru," they said after him, then Arturo said to Kamui: "Do you think we should have joined in?"
Kamui shook his head and answered him: "It would have only caused problems or we would have accidentally hurt Hikaru or someone else."
Meanwhile Hikaru had arrived at the gym and went through the door. He was quite excited. What kind of people would be there or who would the teacher be, he thought. Then he opened the door to the hall and looked around. Surprisingly, there was no one else here. Hopefully he wasn't too late and it would have already started. But then he heard someone coming out of the locker room. It was a man in a white Karate Gi. He had yellow hair and black fur and the sight of him made Hikaru freeze. It was Legato.
"I didn't expect to find you here, even though I knew that this is where you go to school," Legato said calmly and Hikaru thought he was losing his mind. "Hang on. Is this is this some cheap novel or something? That's not normal. Are you following me or what?"
Legato looked at him amused and said calmly: "What do you mean by following you? I'm the martial arts teacher."
Hikaru looked at him perplexed. "You're what???"
