Return Of The Guardian CH 4
Imported from SF2 with no description.
Sunny sat in the library and watched Starflight shuffle around, sorting scrolls and handing them out to whoever asked. They had been in their for a few hours, and many dragonets had come and gone.
“So, what do you think of a beach wedding." Sunny asked once they were alone
“I like that, but you know I don't care how it looks." He smirked.
“Oh, ha ha, funny." Sunny replied. “But seriously, maybe just us, and a few close friends, nothing big."
“The princess of the sand kingdom having a small wedding? No, that can't be." He gasped in mock horror.
Sunny snorted.
“Sorry, just thinking about it makes me giddy right now." Starflight admitted.
“Same." Sunny sighed.
Michael walked into the room and set a large pile of dusty books on top of Starflight's desk.
“What are these?" He asked, touching the spines lightly.
“Let me cure your injury and you would be able to see for yourself." Michael replied. “It's a complete collection of the real history of this continent, from long before the scorching to now."
Starflight gasped. “Who wrote these?"
“Me, I was there."
Sunny smiled as he picked up each book and set it in a specific location.
“Completely up to date, true, and pretty all-inclusive." Michael added. “I had a dossier of your species, but it was lost, so I'm going to make a new one."
Starflight nodded.
“Might need to talk to Webs about changing the history curriculum." Sunny told him.
“Definitely, I sat in with one of his classes, I could barely keep a straight face."
A bird flew into the room and made a few circles around the room. Sunny noticed that it was made out of paper, and it flew directly into Michael's outstretched paw. He unfolded it and read it.
“So, there is an island that is not far northeast from the night kingdom. I have an army stationed there, and they just sent word that they are set up and ready for action."
“You have an army?" Sunny asked
“Many." Michael smiled. “I brought this one here just in case they're needed."
“What would they be needed for?"
Michael rolled his eyes. “Oh, I don't know, maybe to stop WARS, or maybe, destroy an entire species of a certain plant that controls minds. That last thing might have been my fault."
“Wait, what?"
“In the heart of the poison jungle, I have a vault, that contains many dangerous magical items. One of these items is a mind stone. It allows the bearer to control any mind they have been around. The plant must have been exposed to the magical radiation from the stone, making it able to imitate it's powers."
“A vault? In the Poison Jungle?"
“Yes, I created the deadly plants around it as a way of protection. I should probably go and clear it out before somebody stumbles upon it. The vault guardian isn't very friendly."
“So, it's your fault, all that pain, and…" Sunny
“I didn't grow the plant, nor have it attached to my brain so I could use it to control every dragon in Pantala."
“But you let it happen." Starflight cut in.
“I knew you could handle it." Michael replied. “Besides, nobody came to find me."
“But you could have come anyway."
“Of my own accord? Like Darkstalker?" Michael chuckled. “I bet you guys would be soooo welcoming."
Just then, Tsunami walked into the library and looked over at Michael. “Queen Glory is here, and would like to see you."
Michael nodded, and walked out of the room.
“I'm going to go say hi to Glory, want to come?" Sunny asked.
Starflight nodded. “Sure."
They walked out of the library, and over to Tsunami's office. Glory and Deathbringer were both eyeing Michael warily. He was wearing his armor and crown again, glittering brightly.
“So." Glory spoke. “Sunny went all the way into the ice kingdom, to find you?"
“Yep." Michael replied.
“You were Cocoa?"
“Yep."
“Why didn't you tell us who you were?"
“I was spying, that would be against the point."
Deathbringer snorted. “On what?"
“Do you remember me as Onslaught?"
Deathbringer's face fell, and Sunny knew he did.
Michael turned back to Glory. “My daughter is with the rainwings, for a few years now."
Glory raised an eyebrow. “Who?"
“Pommie? You know her?"
Glory thought for a moment. “Seems familiar, I think she collected a bunch of rare flowers for me once."
“She likes your feisty spirit." Michael smiled. “It had been terribly boring before you."
“She kind of seemed spaced out." Glory added.
“She's good at faking." Michael replied. “People don't try to hide things from you when you never seem to be paying attention."
There was silence for a moment, before Glory cleared her throat.
“What are we supposed to be doing again?"
“Right." Michael replied. “The prophecy said 'find the titans.' I know where ten of them are, so you guys are now in charge of finding the other five."
“And how do we do that?"
“Wait for them to rise, then tell me where they are." Michael answered.
Glory nodded.
“What are titans exactly." Deathbringer asked.
“Beings of massive magical power, they are like large statues that walk around and break stuff." Michael replied. “About the size of a mountain, usually made of a certain element."
“You can kill them?"
“Yeah, it's easy once you've done it a billion times."
“The prophecy also said 'save the rain, heal the night, free the sea, and tame the fire.'"
“Heal the night is pretty obvious." Michael replied, turning to Starflight. “I fixed his brain issue, but he's still thinking about me healing his eyes."
“I don't trust magic, animus or not." Starflight replied
Michael rolled his eyes. “Tame the fire is about Peril, but I can't seem to find her."
“Free the sea? Is that about Tsunami?" Sunny replied
“I think so, but she's fine, so I have to wait for something to happen first, and save the rain, that would be you, but from what?" Michael told Glory.
“Can't you see the future or something?"
“I can see thousands of possibilities, all of them have you being hurt or killed in a different way." Michael laughed. “And more of them where your completely fine because I did something without realizing it."
Deathbringer paled, and scooted closer to Glory.
“Wait, didn't Tsunami go to the Kingdom of the Sea to retrieve her mother?" Sunny asked
“She did, maybe she gets captured on the way, but by who?" Glory replied
“I'm willing to place a bet on her overprotective mother." Michael replied.
“She wouldn't do that…" Glory turned to Deathbringer. “Would she?"
Tsunami landed on the beach, enjoying the smell of the sea kingdom, her kingdom. Riptide landed next to her.
“Are you sure you want me to come with you?" He asked.
“Yeah, I don't want to come here alone." Tsunami answered “I also need someone who can speak aquatic better than me."
Riptide laughed. “Your getting better."
Tsunami rolled her eyes, and launched into the water. Riptide followed, and it didn't take them too long to get to the deep palace. The guards stopped them at the gate, but Tsunami raised her wings and flashed it at them.
I am the daughter of the queen, I have permission to enter.
The guards nodded, and let her past. She swam into the main hall, and asked a few guards where her mother was. Eventually, one of them swam off to find her, and a few minutes later, she burst into the room and wrapped her daughter in a tight hug.
Hi sweetie, I'm so glad to see you. She flashed.
Me too, mom. Tsunami replied.
Not that I don't miss you, but you said it might be a while before you could visit.
I wanted to ask you about a dragon known as the Ultimate Guardian. Tsunami told her.
Coral shrank back. How do you know about him?
He's alive, and currently staying at the academy.
WHAT! He's awake?
Yeah, do you know him?
He's way to powerful, who woke him?
Sunny, because Starflight had this prophecy and…
I think you should stay in the palace for a while.
Why? I have duties at the academy.
Somebody else will have to do them, your safer here.
From what? Michael saved Sunny's life, and has been kinder than Darkstalker.
The Guardian's power makes Darkstalker look like a toy for dragonets. His tales might be of good things, but no being should have that power.
But that doesn't mean he's evil, he uses a different kind of magic than regulars do.
I need to talk to him, and I want you to stay at the palace for a while.
Mom, I need to go back.
How about I sweeten the deal? Riptide can stay with you. Coral motioned to him as he was chatting with one of Tsunami's brothers.
Tsunami blushed What?
I see how you look at him. Coral smiled. Reminds me of how I looked at Gill
I… uh…
So how about that? Stay for a while and spend some time together, then I will check things out and see if it's safe to return.
What about my friends?
Coral frowned slightly. I will try. Then she swam off.
Try what? What do you mean? Tsunami flashed.
She watched as Coral flew up to Riptide and called a few of her guards over.
Protect my daughter, don't let her leave the palace. She flashed at the guards.
They nodded, and made their way to their original positions.
Riptide, my daughter likes you, and you like her. Coral turned to him
Tsunami felt her cheeks flush when Riptide smiled and nodded.
If it were my choice, I would have picked someone else. But whatever, you have my blessing to marry her, whenever that time comes.
It was Riptide's turn to blush now, and he did so brightly, avoiding eye contact with anybody. Coral waved her hand and floated off.
It's been a while since we've had a royal wedding. She added, mostly to herself.
Riptide swam up to Tsunami, rubbing the back of his neck.
So, uh…
Guess were staying, for now. But if I hear my friends are in danger, I'm leaving.
Riptide nodded, and looked over at the guards. Let's go find something to eat.
Tsunami nodded, and they made their way to the kitchens.
“So, you think, that I'm a descendant of the original queen of the rainwings, the one you put on the throne." Glory asked
“Yep, and there is one sure fire way to test it." Michael replied.
“To point a strange orb at me?"
“I did it, it was fine." Sunny told her.
Glory looked over at her. “And what did it tell you?"
“That I was a descendant of the original sandwing queen." Sunny replied.
Glory squinted at the item in Michael's hand. “It looks odd."
Michael pointed it, and a rune appeared on Glory's chest. It was like Sunny's but it looked slightly different. Deathbringer lunged forward and looked at it with worry.
“What is this?" Glory asked.
“It's a rune all true descendants have, it marks you as a true heir." Michael explained.
“We've had them since we hatched." Sunny added.
For affect, Michael pointed the orb at Sunny, and her rune reappeared.
“Does Tsunami have one too?" Sunny asked
“I would assume so, the seawings were always good at keeping the royal lines. But not good at keeping animus lines."
“Turtle and Anemone are both animi." Sunny told him.
“I know, but I gave three animus gifts to each of the three tribes." Michael explained. “The sandwings are gone, only one dragon left. The Icewings foolishly combined their lines with the royals, and lost it to the nightwings, and the seawings let all but one line die off. Now there is all of Queen Coral's children, you, Starflight and his sister maybe, and possibly Moon as well."
“Left for what?" Glory asked
“To pass on animus genes. Even if you have don't have powers, that doesn't mean that your children won't." Michael told Sunny.
“But animus magic is gone." Deathbringer replied.
“Until I reverse that spell." Michael told him.
“What did you say about me and my sister?" Starflight asked.
“Your grandfather was an animus, so your children." Michael glanced at Sunny. “If you have them, might be. Basically, your family, Sunny, and the seawing royal family are the only ones that have definite animus genes. Also, Moon is your cousin, so she's your family."
“She is?" Starflight replied.
“Yeah, Secretkeeper and your mom were sisters, but they didn't know each other." Michael waved his claws. “You have the same grandfather, but different grandmothers."
Glory rubbed her forehead. “Too much information, I need to rest."
Deathbringer turned to her. “You okay? You've been exhausted lately."
“I'm fine." She waved the others away. “Michael, I'll talk more later, the rest of you, out."
Michael, Sunny, and Starflight walked out of the room, and through the hall.
“So, marriage." Michael spoke
Starflight smiled over at Sunny. “Yep."
“Your kids have very high chances of being animi, you know that right?"
Starflight couldn't hide the happy look on his face when Michael brought up their children. “Doesn't matter to me."
Sunny blushed. “I hadn't really ever thought of having any, to be honest."
Michael raised an eyebrow, and Starflight frowned slightly in her direction.
“That will be a conversation for later." Sunny added. “Since there are only three dragons that even know where together, and there all right here."
“You should fix that." Michael told her. “For example, you can tell Clay and Peril."
Sunny looked over and noticed them walking their way. She looked over at Starflight.
“Maybe we can tell a few people, but only people we can trust not to spill."
Starflight smiled again, practically beaming.
“What's with the face." Sunny asked.
“How could I not be happy right now, and incredibly proud to call myself your fiancé." Starflight whispered to her.
“Hey." Peril greeted them. “Somebody told me you were looking for me?"
“Yes." Michael replied. “I was wondering if you want me to help you control your firescales."
“Yes." Peril replied, without hesitation. “No explanation, do it."
Michael snapped his claws, and a ruby appeared embedded in Peril's scales.
“Basically, all you have to do is pull energy from it and it can return your powers to you." Michael told her.
Peril looked down at the gem, then over to Clay. Sunny reached over and laid her claws on Peril's side. Peril gasped and looked over at her, realizing that there was no smoke, or burning.
“I'll leave you too it, I'm renovating the whole academy for the new dragonets, and adding new winglet rooms and probably more classrooms." Michael told them, then walked away.
“We do have some news." Sunny told them.
“We know about Moon and Qibli, if that's it." Clay told her.
“Kind of, close, but not exactly what we were going to say." Sunny smiled over at Starflight.
Clay looked over at Peril, confused.
“Were together." Starflight clarified.
They gasped.
“More so, were engaged." Sunny added.
Their jaws dropped as Starflight wrapped his wing over Sunny.
“What? How long have you been together?" Clay asked.
“Well, I didn't know I returned his feelings until Michael practically yelled at me about it. It's kind of sudden, but the wedding won't be for a while, I just didn't want to wait any longer."
“Two days?" Peril replied. “Really?"
“Peril!" Clay nudged her.
“What? Don't you think it was kind of fast?"
“Starflight's been depressed for years; don't you see the smile on his face." He hissed, slightly louder than he wanted.
Peril's eyes widened as she noticed Starflight's face, then she smiled back.
“Guess it makes sense." She shrugged.
Sunny felt a sad pang again, but it was wiped away by the true beaming smile that was emanating from Starflight. He looked much better in the last few days than when she left. Peril gasped and grabbed Clay, then rushed out of the room without another word.
