Vice Admiral Ashley has heat cycles twice a year like a feral kuvasz.
With all the commotion after Maya's accident, there was a lot of contention for the second seat. Admiral Karen weighed it all, as well as input from captains of the fleet, before naming Maya's twin sister Ashley as her #2.
Vice Admiral Ashley was a bit overwhelmed at first, but wore the badge with pride, even putting together an agenda for Admiral Karen, that originally failed to account for food and bathroom needs. She revised it naturally, but it shows even the vice Admiral makes mistakes.
Vice Admiral Ashley is no ''yes man'' not by any stretch. Though she does generally support Admiral Karen, there have been many times she and the Admiral didn't see eye to eye. In each case, she takes it to Karen in private, and depending on the circumstances either convinces Karen her way is better, or yields to Karen's wisdom and experience.
Fighter: Ashley is on par with Hank or Reaper, not /quite/ as good as Tom, Yuri, or Karen, but a very close second.
Starship: Ashley can pilot the ship , and plot a course through hyperspace, but as Agnes put it, even having Molly at the helm would be preferable. the exact quote was: "Your heart is in the right place Vice Admiral, but you just don't have a feel for interstellar navigation."
Religion: Canid Polytheist, devout, though she is very open to learning about new cultures.
Hates: Xians, with the exception of Billy Ballchin who she accepts has pledged to serve the Aces.
Loves: Freedom, Mercenary life, Soldiering, battle, enlightenment.
Kinks: Hates scat, only does watersports with Tom or Karen, otherwise Omni and anything else goes.
Faults; Like her sister Maya, her wonderlust for adventure can sometimes blind her to the bigger picture.
Like Maya, Ashley is obsessed with exploring the unknown, and there are times, Admiral Karen has to protect the vice Admiral from hewr own desires.
Ashley is particularly tough on nuggets, because, as she says : Ah seen too many people put on that uniform, sail into the black, and never make it home. Ah won' give y'all a pass 'less Ah'm satisfied yer ready."
Bridge duty: Most people on Excalibur rue the times when Karen has to leave the ship. In the 'Big Chair', Ashley is the perfect soldier. She expects nothing short of punctual obediance to her orders, and a swift response from all departments.
Personal flaw: Ashley blames the Xians for the transporter incident, despite all evidence proving it was just a fluke. She has a personal vendetta against Xenia, and that clouds her judgement at times.
Dreams: Ashley would love to see the end of bloodshed, despite the fact it would put the Aces out of work, or at best drastically change their contracts. She had an epiphany the last time she was on Pleiades Maia 4, and would love nothing more than to devote her life to the pursuit of deeper enlightenment as the people of that world have.
Alleigance: Despite it all, Ashley stands by her blood oath to Maya, and her loyalty to Admiral Karen is unwavering. No matter her personal feelings, she would rather die in battle, than dishonor that blood oath.
