History: Born Austin TX, initial training TPA Austin, selected for flight training Bradley Group Kitty Hawk base, withdrew from training because of poor marks, spent time with Everybody’s Heroes Wisconsin HQ where she finally learned to fly at hypersoic speed, hired by St Andrews LLC (major Internet chat service) as company mascot and protector, fired cruelly when they changed their image, joined The Korps as Pink Bird

Notes: Even in the TPA, Janine refused to learn or use deadly force. She does her best not to harm anybody, (more than necessary), even if they’re threatening her or somebody she’s protecting. She left training at Bradley Group without a Hero license, (which was just as well at EHA.) As a St Andrew’s employee, she was a mascot more than a protector, which made it easier to do as little harm as necessary. (This might have been one reason that their CEO, a registered psychopath, wanted to get rid of her; she wouldn’t eliminate his enemies for him.) It also gave her access to people who were good at finding information that she shouldn’t have been able to see.

When St Andrews changed their image they fired Bluebird in the most cruel way they could find. (see “Manners, Manners”) By that time Janine had learned things about Hero work in all sorts of agencies and most of them seemed to have questionable ethics. She was doubting her decision to be a Hero in the first place. Bradley Group didn’t want a wash-out trainee themselves, but they were the place to go to seek employment as a private Hero. However, one of their divisions was interested in her; Illstar, an elite team of assassins lead by a Hero that even the head office couldn’t get information about. When they descirbed the team to Janine, she refused on the spot, so Employment Division claimed they had no other openings at the time.

That’s when Janine decided to contact The Korps. St Andrews, as part of their change to a new image, was doing a publicity stunt with a very brightly illuminated St Andrew’s Cross that quickly became famous for annoying a large section of downtown Seattle. The Korps sent Team Blindguard, an abduction and vandalism unit, to turn it off for good. Before they left, Janine confronted them and begged them to let her join. Karen approved her “capture.” She was questioned at KDS, accepted, then stationed at RIV where she could be near her famly.

Janine is basically good-hearted. She has no desire to harm others, even for food. She takes responsibiliity very seriously; she can be a bit of a stick-in-the-mud. Although she can work effectively in groups, she prefers to “hunt alone.” She tries to excel at whatever she does, largely because she needs to feel proud of herself, (not uncommon in falcons.) Korps society was a revelation for her and it took a while to get used to it being okay to Just Be Yourself. She had always thought of herself as a straight, CIS female with no particular kinks. (ROSE confirms that she is happily female.) But now that she’s in an enviroment where it’s okay to be openly Otherwise, she’s starting to notice Feelings that she hadn’t noticed before. Dark, scary feelings she doesn’t understand, about doing Awful Things to people, to other women... and sometimes it feels like the Dominion Club is calling her...
