Savera was enjoying the beautiful tome her best friend James had picked out for her and had delivered via courier, as she turned its pages, they popped up, displaying stunning 3D battle images of angels and harpies. Savera was completely engrossed in the history book and didn't hear the stealthy sailing ship silently gliding to shore as she turned yet another page, reading in earnest and hearing the book's narration in her best male friend's voice as she read. She gasped and dropped the tome as she felt male hands grab her roughly by each of her scaled birdlike wrists, pinning her to a rock. She cast a fast spell and enveloped herself in protective thorns, but the seafarers cut them away quickly as she cast them with their cutlasses.
"No, please!" she pleaded, trying to get away, finally the men tied her fast and shackled her, and the captain hopped off to inspect her with a big smirk, strutting slowly. He was tall and lean and muscular and clearly from his looks and accent, hailed from the Carribbean. He fingered Savera's chin and she struggled to no avail.
"Ahh, what have we here, boys. Such a fine young harpy."
"Captain, I know a few ports that would pay well for her." One of the crew said, Savera's eyes darted in fear.
"I know a private buyer who would pay even more than that." Another crew member added.
"Aye, load her, tie her to a pole in the hold, with any other booty you can find, boys. We set sail in a few minutes. No one touches her; she needs to be fresh to pique a buyer." The captain laughed, thumbing Savera again, she struggled and kicked as they loaded her on board their foreboding and sleek ship. Just before they took her down into the hold, Savera cast a creeping vine spell and prayed it would reach her adoptive mothers, the men forced her to drink a strong herbal concotion that knocked her out cold and tied her to a pole fast as the captain had ordered, and loaded her along with bags of fine shells they'd found, the pirates set sail yet again, always on the prowl for anything of value; the poor teen had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
2 days later.
Savera's hulking gladiator best friend James and his best friend Raziel, who was a gentle openly gay fellow mortal angel, flew on their mounts across the sea, searching endlessly near the coastline. James flew on his fearless and enormous war gryphon StormFeather, who had been a gift from his doting girlfriend. In tow behind he had a spare smaller female gryphon for his friend to ride when they found and rescued her. Beside them on a spirited pegasus mare Raziel rode swiftly.
"James, what is this fellow's name again?" Raziel called over the wind, flying closer to James and his mount.
"Seaglass! We're looking for a sleek black and red ship, Raz! When we find them, please free Savera, I'll handle Captain Seaglass and his men!" James called, he snarled and cracked his enormous knuckles, his black wings crackling with his lightning magic and the shield and armor he wore clanking as his big mount flew, who was also decked out in battle armor.
"Alright James, I'll also heal you and the young one, I've been wanting to meet her, just not like this!" Raziel joked half-heartedly.
"You're right Raz, I should've introduced you sooner!" James called.
"James, there!" Raziel pointed down, his mare hovering; it was misty, but the men could just make out a ship below that looked like the one that had been described to them by the dock workers they'd interviewed; young Savera's vine spell had worked, and her worried witch mothers had contacted James, who immediately began looking high and low for her, joined by his faithful gay friend.
"Come, StormFeather!" James blew the special whistle his girlfriend had gifted him with his gryphon, who was a trained war animal. This was the first time he'd used this attack command, StormFeather shrieked ferociously and dove, his claws forward in a swooping fighting move.
"Down my lovely, follow them." Raziel said softly to his mare, who neighed and dove too, landing on the ship's stern as James & his gryphon dove like a bowling ball into the men, starting a commotion as the enormous two of them took on the whole crew at once; James was a tanker in the arena and his mount was bigger than the average gryphon to carry the huge man, together they were a fearsome duo. Raziel took the smaller female gryphon to the stern with his own uneasy mount and went to look for Savera among the chaos James and Storm were creating, hearing the cries of battle above as he snuck into the hold. Savera spotted him, tied and gagged, and she wiggled as he untied her and cast a healing spell on her.
"Savera, nice to finally meet you, I'm a friend of James, please follow me!" Raziel said.
"Oh thank you!" she called, as they emerged to the deck Raziel cast healing spells on James and StormFeather as they plowed their way through Seaglass's crew; some men jumped overboard in fear, and a few lay badly injured and groaning. Raziel cast more healing spells and grabbed Savera by her scaled bird wrist, keeping her safe on the stern by him as he kept healing James and StormFeather fighting a quickly diminishing number of the captain's men. The last few jumped ship and James rushed up to Savera, his loyal mount chomping eagerly and licking the blood off his beak by his side. James gently grasped Savera's face in his big hands.
"Savera, oh my sweet friend, are you hurt?" He asked breathlessly.
"They didn't touch me, Raziel healed me as well, I'm hale, thank you so much for rescuing me! They were planning on selling me to some rich guy in the dark mountains. I was so scared I'd never see anyone I loved again." Savera gushed with utmost gratitude. James pulled her into a rough hug, rougher than he meant to, still worked up from battle. They all heard a creak and saw Captain Seaglass trying to sneak away towards his fleeing crew in a rowboat, abandoning the hurt men where they lay.
"James, forget him, he's no match for you." Raziel implored, but James' fiery temper was already taking over at the sight of the captain. James was at least three times the size of the captain, he grabbed him by his shirt and threw him onto the deck from the boat with a scream, pinning him against the main mast with an enraged snarl and choking him with one huge meaty hand.
"Ahh! Please, mister, I wasn't meanin' no harm. She's unhurt, isn't she? Here, take some treasures, and be on your way." Seaglass begged. James' normally gentle grey eyes were contorted in wild rage.
"Apologize to her!" James demanded, throwing the captain at Savera's taloned feet, afraid as he was of James, he had his pride.
"No!" He snarled in annoyance. Again James pinned the smaller man like a moth to the mast, this time choking him with his massive elbow and forearm.
"Guys, let's just go! What are you doing!" Raziel pleaded, not liking what he'd been seeing creeping into his usually gentle big friend the last few months. Savera also normally wasn't aggressive, but the harpy blood in her took over seeing her friend's hostility, and she shrieked like a banshee and raked the captain with her sharp talons and bit him with her fangs, making him scream and writhe in agony.
"James, enough! What's gotten into you lately?" Raziel begged, James was not himself in his angry state and couldn't heed his smaller friend.
"That's it, maul him, Savera." James snarled in sadistic delight, his own smaller angel fangs bared and felt with a lick of his tongue, he gave a low laugh at the captain's humiliation, openly enjoying avenging his female friend. Savera bit the captain's neck and James laughed harder at the man's plight, keeping him pinned helplessly to the mast.
"James, stop it! Savera!" Raziel pleaded, hittting them a little, though not hard. James unsheathed his broadsword, his shield clanking on his burly back.
"Savera, should I kill him, or should you?" James asked, clearly not his normal self, a twisted gleam in his eyes. Savera was also under whatever spell James was, she got behind him and gently raked her claws over his burly frame from behind, flirting with him openly but not drawing blood.
"James!" Raziel backhanded the big brute with his satin-gloved hand, but James didn't even hardly feel it. He licked his short fangs with a devilish, wild grin and in a sudden move, decapitated the captain, who barely had time to scream before his shocked head went rolling and his bloody body dropped convulsing and bleeding out to the deck. Savera looked like she was partially coming out of whatever had overtaken them, James picked her up like she were nothing and gently carried her to the female gryphon, strapping her into the saddle snugly and mounting StormFeather, Raziel swung himself onto his pegasus mare.
"James, snap out of it!" He pleaded, concerned, and he cast a healing spell on them both; Savera seemed to snap out of it and looked a little dazed, holding on with a slight cry as her mount winged skyward, tethered securely to StormFeather on a long rope. James hovered on his hulking gryphon and with a loud cry he channelled his fierce lightning magic at the pirate ship, startling the mounts except his own, who was unfazed as the ship cracked and caught fire with an explosion from the enormous amount of electricity, burning furiously. From afar, the captainless crew watched their ship slowly burn and sink as Raziel led the way on his flying mount followed by James and Savera in the rear on the led female gryphon, the crew watching the bloody water as their captain's severed head floated among the wreckage of their obliterated craft.
