Coming to Terms: Chapter 1
2nd Pass Proof Read Done.
In this steamy first chapter, we meet Bryan, a studious rabbit who finds his world turned upside down when Jason, a muscular timberwolf athlete, becomes his new roommate. The tension is immediate as their contrasting personalities clash - the bookish, sarcastic rabbit versus the confident, athletic wolf. As they establish ground rules for coexisting in their shared space, Bryan struggles with an unexpected attraction to his new roommate, especially when Jason casually strips down to his boxers for bed. What will happen when Bryan can't control his urges, unaware that his "sleeping" roommate isn't quite as oblivious as he appears
Chapter 1: There's Your Roommate, Pal! -Frederick "Ogre" Aloysius Palowaski
Bryan's dorm room was modest but comfortable. There were two beds on opposite sides, two nightstands, desks beneath windows that were across from the door, and a shared closet space. The rabbit sat cross-legged on his bed, surrounded by textbooks and a laptop. His long ears twitched occasionally as he typed away. Bryan's circular glasses rested low on his nose, and he wore a fitted sweater vest over a collared shirt - the stereotypical 'nerd' attire.
Without warning, his dorm room door swung open and slammed against the wall as a wolf entered the room carrying a haphazard collection of boxes and bags. The contrast between the two was immediately apparent - a tall, athletic wolf versus a smaller, bookish rabbit.
Bryan's very first instinct was to bolt but his only exit was currently blocked. That left very few options for his stuttering brain to process. He was frozen mid-word, his typing halted, his nose twitching slightly with anxiety.
"Oh, you must be the new roommate," Bryan barely managed to get out, trying to maintain a casual tone despite his obvious discomfort. "Hey, I'm Bryan." The rabbit paused, unsure of what else he should say before settling on, “I guess Mrs.Willow gave you the room assignment?"
The rabbit adjusted his glasses, eyeing the wolf's athletic build with a mixture of intimidation and something else he quickly tried to mask.
Mrs.Willow was their building's dorm manager. She handled room assignments and dealt with dorm disputes. Bryan kinda liked her. She reminded him of his grandmother, only older, larger, and more vocal, and a raccoon. Okay, she wasn't like his grandmother at all, but the old raccoon was grandmotherly, -ish.
Please don't be another jerk who's going to make my life miserable, Bryan thought anxiously to himself. He attempted to appear nonchalant despite his elevated heart rate.
The wolf didn't respond, instead, he kicked the door closed behind him, walked over to his bed, and dropped his stuff on the ground. The wolf had seemingly carried all of his possessions in a single trip. And while it probably hadn't been difficult for him to haul all the weight, judging by the way the wolf's arms bulged - it was definitely a cumbersome pile of bags and a few large boxes.
"Yeah." The wolf finally said as he stretched his right arm and rolled his shoulder. He looked Bryan up and down, sizing the rabbit up.
"Crotchety old bag made me leave my previous digs. Which, ya know- sucks..." The wolf gritted his teeth as he scowled. "Jason by the way." The wolf finished saying as he turned and started to riffle through his belongings, not bothering to unpack.
Bryan's whiskers twitched at Jason's less than enthusiastic greeting. He watched the wolf's muscular form move about the room, trying not to be too obvious about it.
"Well, uh- welcome to Casa del Bryan, I guess," Bryan said, trying to lighten the mood with a hint of sarcasm. The rabbit closed his laptop and glanced towards the door.
Jason continued to dig around in one of the boxes he had carried in as Bryan continued talking. "Let me guess - she gave you the whole 'rules are rules' speech about rooming up with a roommate while adjusting those tiny reading glasses of hers?"
The wolf let the question hang in the air as Bryan shifted on his bed, pulling his knees up to his chest in an unconsciously defensive posture. His long ears remained partially folded, a sign of his growing unease.
Jason let out a huff. "Yeah, that about sums it up."
Bryan had a bad feeling in his gut. He was starting to see several red flags. Great, this is just what I needed this semester, Bryan thought. He was unable to stop his racing mind from working in overdrive as he watched Jason turn over one of the boxes that he had brought in with him. Its contents spilled out onto the floor.
"The left side of the closet is yours," Bryan added, desperately wanting to break the lull in conversation. The rabbit gestured towards the small closet with one paw. "And uh... fair warning - I tend to study late. Hope that's not gonna be an issue."
Jason grabbed one of the larger bags that sat next to him and effortlessly tossed it across the room into the closet. The bag wasn't zipped and unfolded clothes spilled out around the edges of its flap as it landed. The wolf then turned towards Bryan and took a step toward him. Jason towered over Bryan, who was still sitting on his bed.
"Late huh? Well - if we're gonna be in the same room, we need to set some ground rules." Jason didn't wait for Bryan to respond before he continued. "One, you don't touch my shit and I won't touch yours. Two, when the headphones go on - you don't bother me, and I won't bother you. And Three?" Jason scrunched up his muzzle as he considered his next words. "I dunno, if there is a sock on the door or something, then don't come in. I'm probably with a chick or something. Besides that, I don't care what you do. That work for you?"
Bryan's ears perked up slightly at the mention of rules, and his nose twitched with mild annoyance as Jason loomed over him. Bryan hesitated for a moment before deciding to stand his ground, meeting the wolf's gaze despite their height difference.
"Oh, how generous of you to lay down the law," Bryan said, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he summoned his courage.
The rabbit adjusted his glasses. "Though I should point out that this was my room first, big guy."
Bryan stood up from his bed. He was still significantly shorter than Jason, but he refused to be intimidated. Bryan's tail twitched as he continued, "But sure, I can work with that. Just add rule number four - when I'm studying, keep the testosterone-fueled victory parties out there." Bryan pointed to his dorm room's door. “Some of us actually need to maintain our GPA to stay enrolled."
Unlike you sport assholes, the rabbit added mentally. Yet, even though Bryan didn't say that last part aloud, his expression definitely suggested it.
"And maybe rule five, if you can count that high," Bryan continued," - learn to use a laundry basket?" The rabbit pointedly looked at the bag of loose clothes in the closet. "Just a suggestion."
Jason's eyes narrowed as he took another step closer to Bryan, bringing them toe to toe with one another. For a brief moment, there was a savage look that flashed across the wolf's face. One of a hunter that was about to pounce on his prey. The look vanished just as quickly as it had appeared. Jason's scowl was replaced by a small smirk that spread across the wolf's muzzle. Jason reached forward and slapped the rabbit's shoulder, perhaps a little harder than was necessary.
"Ha, alright," Jason said. "You know, I like you Bunny Boy. I think we'll be alright."
Bryan stumbled slightly from the forceful pat, his ears raising in surprise at both the contact and the sudden shift in Jason's demeanor. As soon as Jason turned around, the rabbit quickly rubbed his shoulder. Not that Bryan was doing that because the pat had hurt or anything. Nope, he definitely wasn't rubbing his arm because of how much the wolf's pat had stung. It was for more manly reasons- his muscles were stiff. Yep, that was it, stiff manly muscles.
Bryan's attention returned to Jason as the wolf walked back over to his side of the room. Jason crouched down and opened the second box he had carried. Bryan watched as Jason began rifling through its contents. The other box the wolf had carried in still lay next to the wolf's bed, empty and discarded next to a mound of its poured out contents.
"Wow, I'm so honored to have passed the big bad wolf's inspection," Bryan quipped, though there was less bite in his sarcasm now. "And it's Bryan, not 'Bunny Boy.' I'd rather not lean into species stereotypes, thanks."
Bryan sat back down on his bed, trying to ignore how his heart rate had picked up when Jason had loomed over him. That look that had flashed in the wolf's eyes hadn't gone unnoticed, and it stirred something in the rabbit that he'd rather not examine too closely.
"Though speaking of stereotypes," Bryan added, unable to help himself, "please tell me you're not going to start randomly howling at the moon or something throughout the night. These walls are pretty thin." And also, why do you have to be so... no, stop that right there, Bryan. The rabbit scolded his internal dialogue.
Bryan was feeling too nervous to sit still. So he stood up again and moved over to his nightstand. Bryan tried to focus on reorganizing his textbooks in an attempt to avoid making any further eye contact with his new roommate. Not that that worked, as Bryan still stole occasional glances over at Jason, who was now almost done emptying his second box onto the floor.
Jason's shoulders slumped as he sighed and pushed the now second empty box away. The wolf stood, then turned and fell backward onto his bed. The bed frame shifted and creaked under the sudden weight as Jason sank into the mattress.
Each of their beds was a large twin-sized mattress. Bryan could easily fit on his with plenty of room to spare. However, the wolf's body made his mattress seem small by comparison. Jason's feet hung off one end, and his broad shoulders left little room for anything else side to side.
"For your information - Bunny Boy.." Jason emphasized his new roommate's nickname pointedly as he spoke up again, " I'm a timberwolf. And as a wolf, howling is a very spiritual and common practice. But no, you won't be hearing me howling at the moon in here. If you hear me howling, then something is either very wrong or very right- if you get my drift." Jason raised and lowered his eyebrows to emphasize his point.
"Anyways," Jason continued," I know why I'm here, but I was surprised to find out someone else was a roomie short. What, you start the semester late or something?"
Bryan's ears immediately drooped and his whiskers twitched as he froze. His paws fidgeted with the corner of a textbook he had been repeatedly adjusting on his nightstand.
"No, I..." Bryan started, his confident facade briefly cracking. Then Bryan caught himself, "Let's just say my last roommate had some... personal issues. Nothing worth discussing."
The rabbit let go of the book and crawled back onto his bed. Bryan reopened his laptop and began typing a bit more aggressively than necessary. Great, just what I need - him asking about that whole mess. As if all the rumors weren't going to be bad enough… Bryan thought.
"Besides," Bryan said, trying to change the subject, "Shouldn't you be at football practice? Or isn't there a party or something you're supposed to be passed out at?" Bryan's tone was deliberately casual, but there was a harsh edge of defensiveness in the rabbit's voice. Jason turned and gave Bryan a flat look, but the rabbit was suddenly very absorbed in his 'work'.
Jason rolled his eyes as he replied. "Dude, it's 8 PM on a Tuesday. Practice is Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Duh... And who the hell parties on the third day of school?"
There actually was a party that was happening. It was hosted by some of the football players and a few cheerleaders. Jason had been- of course- invited. But the wolf didn't want Bryan to have the satisfaction of knowing that. Besides, Jason had his reasons for not going.
The first was that Jason had wanted some alone time. Orientation had been a whirlwind of new things. There had been so many new places, new people, new smells and sounds. It was an exciting time and all, but it had also been overwhelming.
The second was Jason needed to prepare for tomorrow. He was nervous about his classes. Sure, he had gotten into university because of his football scholarship. Which did give him some room to coast, but he still had to maintain a B average. That wasn't going to be easy for him.
Besides, the dorm manager had managed to ruin both of those things. Jason was most definitely not alone, and because he had to move so suddenly- he was now also completely unprepared for tomorrow. Regardless, none of that information was any of his smart-ass roommate's business.
Jason didn't wait for a response as he added, "Anyways, I'm turning in."
As Jason finished speaking, he sat up in his bed and began to pull his shirt off. Bryan's eyes inadvertently tracked Jason's movement as the wolf exposed his muscular torso. The rabbit quickly snapped his attention back to his laptop screen.
"Right, silly me for assuming you of all people would have a social life," Bryan muttered under his breath, trying desperately to focus on his screen. The rabbit still caught glimpses of the wolf's bare chest in his peripheral vision. Don't look, don't look, don't..., Bryan desperately pleaded with himself, his ears twitching again as he stole another glance.
Jason rolled his eyes as he stretched his shoulders." Worry about your own social life - alright, nerd." Then the wolf leaned over and undid his shoe pads. He tossed them into the closet and they landed on top of his clothes bag.
"You know, some people change in the bathroom," Bryan said, aiming for snark. But instead, his voice came out slightly strained. "Or at least warn a guy first." Despite his protests, Bryan remained frozen in place, caught between wanting to leave and not wanting to make it obvious why he was uncomfortable.
Jason smirked as he undid his pants. Then he pulled them off, leaving him wearing only a loose pair of boxers. "What's the big deal? We're both guys. Besides, I get hot when I sleep."
Now that Jason wasn't feeling restricted by his clothes, he leaned over and reached into another one of his bags on the floor. The muscles of his back stretched and became taut under his fur as he dug around inside. Eventually, Jason extracted a pair of headphones and slipped them onto his head. Then the wolf threw himself back onto his bed again.
Jason yawned as he stretched out on his back and tried to get comfortable. While Bryan swallowed hard as he tried - and failed - not to stare at his new roommate's muscular form. The rabbit's ears felt like they were practically on fire.
"Right... both guys... nothing new..." Bryan mumbled, his usual sarcastic wit failing him completely. The rabbit shifted uncomfortably on his bed, suddenly very aware of how small the room felt. This was not how Bryan imagined his afternoon going at all.
Oh Gods, why is he in his boxers? Who does that? Bryan thought as he kept trying to focus on his laptop. The rabbit silently cursed the universe. Of all the roommates he could have gotten, why did his have to be the hot jock wolf who slept practically naked.
It's okay Bryan, the rabbit tried to reassure himself. You can just ignore him- then it won't be a problem. Just ignore him the rest of the year, just don't look over at- Bryan looked over at the wolf's semi-nude body.
"I'm... going to go get some water," Bryan announced to no one in particular since Jason had already put on his headphones. Bryan practically hopped off his bed as he grabbed his water bottle from his nightstand and bounded straight for the door. He needed some fresh air and something to cool him down before he made a fool of himself.
As he was leaving, Bryan glanced back one more time at Jason's stretched-out form. That decision had been a mistake. From where Bryan stood near the foot of Jason's bed, the wolf's boxers left very little to the rabbit's imagination.
Bryan quickly turned and exited the room. The rabbit's heart pounded rapidly in his chest. This is definitely going to be a problem, Bryan thought as he closed the door behind him.
Meanwhile, Jason let out a huff of air from his nose as he stared up at the ceiling. It was a tic he had developed as a cub. The wolf always huffed and puffed when he was frustrated. Which one might think is a cliche thing for a wolf to do, and if someone did think that, then they'd be right.
This is definitely going to be a problem, Jason thought as he closed his eyes. The wolf knew that sleep was not going to come easily that night. He was a very light sleeper, as most wolves tended to be. That was why his headphones were specially designed to cancel out as much ambient noise as possible.
It was a job they normally excelled at. However, the batteries of his particular headphones were currently dead. As a result of that, the wolf heard everything around him. To add insult to injury, he had misplaced the charger in his rush to relocate rooms. His one saving grace was that the ear pads on his headphones muffled the loud noises around him- a little.
Every time the wolf tried to clear his mind, a noise from out in the hallway or outside his dorm room window would catch his attention. During the day, when Jason was awake, he could selectively tune everything out. However, when he was relaxing and trying to go to sleep, it became nearly impossible.
The wolf ground his teeth. If that crotchety old raccoon had given Jason more than an hour's notice, or if he had had the time to pack up everything properly, then he wouldn't be in this situation, and he wouldn't be in such a bad mood.
He shouldn't have been forced to move when he had classes first thing in the morning, Jason thought to himself. Didn't he already have enough to stress out about? And now, on top of all of that, he had to deal with a new roommate? Second-year students got an option to request their own private dorm rooms. So why couldn't he have kept his?
“Whatever," Jason mumbled to himself. Sharing a room with a complete stranger wasn't really an issue for him. It wasn't like he had never been in this type of situation before. What with all the sports camps and away games he had gone to over the years.
No, it was the fact that he had been forced into it that bothered him. Roommates weren't normally randomly assigned unless under rare circumstances. You had a choice to sign up with someone, or you could pair up during one of the dorm orientation meetings. Jason knew that because that's how he had found his last roommate. Which was also why he was in this situation now.
In hindsight, Jason should have known better than to randomly bunk with his last roommate, a cheetah. Not that there was anything wrong with cheetahs in general. The guy had just been too sporadic and indecisive. They had been roommates for less than a day when the cheetah had decided to bunk with one of his friends in another building. It had happened so suddenly that Jason didn't even remember the guy's name.
So it wasn't Jason's fault that he suddenly had a room all to himself. It was just happenstance. Unfortunately, that argument had fallen on deaf ears. And the dorm manager made him relocate rooms because of consolidation, as if that word made it fair.
The new room meant a new roommate. A new roommate, Jason also didn't get to pick, which just pissed him off more. Because, if Jason had been given a choice, he most definitely wouldn't have bunked with some nerdy rabbit.
Jason idly scratched his chest fur. He wanted to be back home. He wanted to be back in his own bed. Back with the rest of his pack. Whatever was left of it.
Jason had looked up the distance and directions on his phone earlier that day. His hometown, Brooks Den, was over two hundred miles southeast. That's where his mother and uncles were. His brother, Ethan, was Gods knows where- working as a steward with a major airline. But there was history there that Jason tried not to think about.
Instead, as Jason lay on his new bed, he realized that it wasn't the distance that bothered him. He had been farther away from home before. What bothered him was how long he was going to be gone. He was going to be stuck attending university for years. And sure, there were going to be breaks between semesters- but that knowledge brought little solace to the wolf as he lay there in his new and unfamiliar dorm room.
For Jason, it was all a lot to deal with. What with the stress of moving, a new roommate, the random noises, being away from his family, being unable to sleep, tomorrow's classes, having to perform well at practice- all of it added up. He could feel the weight of all those stresses and anxieties as if they were a barbell that was sitting on top of his chest.
“It's all just temporary. You're okay." Jason mumbled to himself under his breath. He would find his charger or get a new one tomorrow. He'd figure out his classes. He'd kill it at practice. He was going to be okay. He could do this.
Hell, if his new roommate was actually smart and didn't just look like a nerd, maybe Jason could get the rabbit to do his homework or something. The rabbit probably didn't have a girlfriend. Maybe Jason could show him a few tricks with the ladies? That had to be worth a couple of assignments, right? It would probably be easy for the guy, or even better - the rabbit would most likely enjoy doing it. Then it wouldn't matter if Jason didn't understand it, it'd all be...
Jason frowned, frustrated that he was already doubting himself. He knew he wasn't stupid, but the wolf also wasn't arrogant enough to say that he was smart either. He had to work hard at everything, whether that was sports or school. Jason knew things didn't always come as easily to him as they did for others. That didn't matter, he could still get it. He just had to put in twice as much effort and work twice as hard. Jason was used to it. Mainly because it was all he had ever known.
Jason had decided long ago that he didn't need anyone's help. He wasn't some pathetic weakling who couldn't keep up. He didn't need anybody. Everything was going to be okay. At least, that is what he kept telling himself. He'd say it over and over again in his mind, as a small part of him hoped it was true.
Bryan returned to the dorm room around ten minutes later. The rabbit stood out in the hallway, his fur slightly damp around his muzzle from the cold water he had splashed on his face.
Bryan briefly wondered if he should knock, but then immediately chastised himself for even considering it. Why should he have to knock before entering 'HIS' room? He shouldn't have to! He wasn't going to! With that decided, Bryan still paused briefly before slowly turning the doorknob and stepping inside as quietly as he could.
As Bryan entered the room, Jason kept his eyes closed. The wolf remained perfectly still, his chest slowly rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Jason wasn't necessarily pretending to be asleep. It was more like he was actively trying to brute force his way into sleeping.
Seeing Jason 'asleep', Bryan's usual defensive demeanor softened. The rabbit found himself feeling a little disappointed. Bryan had psyched himself up, preparing an entire speech in his head as he had entered the room. One where he would proclaim that he could do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted to. But now that Bryan didn't have an audience, he found himself without an outlet for his frustrations.
Bryan's shoulders slumped as he slowly crept over to his desk. He tiptoed across the floor, still trying not to make any noise. Once he took his seat in his chair, Bryan did a mental review of his coursework. Tomorrow was technically only the third day of the semester. And while most classes hadn't started posting due dates for assignments, Bryan liked to work ahead.
As he opened his Chemistry book, Bryan paused and looked back over his shoulder. Jason was still lying where Bryan had last seen him. At least he's not snoring, Bryan thought to himself.
Confident the wolf was unconscious, Bryan allowed himself to take his time as he gazed over Jason's body. The wolf was easily over six feet tall. Jason's fur was a dusky gray, which turned to white on his muzzle and the bottom of his paws and arms. The fur on his thighs and chest was also white, but shorter. Bryan could clearly make out the muscles of the wolf's chest as Jason slowly breathed in and out. Further down, near the wolf's navel, a small happy trail of darker gray fur disappeared down into the wolf's boxers.
Bryan swallowed nervously as he leaned back in his chair to get a better look. He could almost see everything. If he pushed back just a bit further, he would be able to get a better view.
Unable to help himself, Bryan did just that. But as Bryan's eyes trailed down Jason's chest, his chair began to tip back slowly. Bryan panicked and quickly turned back- grabbing onto his desk to steady himself. As he did so, his chair legs slammed back onto the floor with a loud thump. The rabbit froze before slowly looking back over his shoulder. Jason appeared to still be asleep. Well, in the sense that the wolf didn't open his eyes or move.
Bryan let out the breath that he had been holding. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Bryan mentally berated himself. He needed to focus on something, anything else besides the nearly naked wolf a few feet away from him.
Bryan turned his attention instead to the mess near the wolf's bed. Jason had poured out most of his belongings into a large pile on the floor. Bryan noticed Jason's course books scattered haphazardly amongst the wolf's other belongings. One appeared to be Introduction to Business Analytics - a notoriously difficult freshman requirement for business majors.
"Poor guy's probably going to struggle with that one," Bryan whispered to himself, so quietly that it was barely audible. He caught himself feeling sympathetic for a moment before quickly shaking his head.
What do I care? He's just another jerk who'll probably make my life a living hell once he finds out. Just ignore him, Bryan told himself. Just focus on your work and don't pay him any attention. Out of sight, out of mind.
It was easier thought than done. Bryan tried to return to his coursework, but his concentration was shot. He kept thinking about the way the wolf's bare chest rose and fell with each breath, the powerful muscles under the white and gray fur visible even in repose.
As Bryan turned the pages in his textbook, a small part of him kept taunting him to look back over his shoulder. An inner voice that subtly whispered that it probably wouldn't hurt to just take another quick peek. Who would even know?
Nope, he had to stop thinking like that. Bryan was an adult, not some immature teenager. Well, he was a teenager- just not an immature one. He was about to turn 19, for Gods sake. He had more control than this. Bryan just needed to think about things rationally. Math, butterflies, Marferret Thatcher naked on a cold day.
Just when Bryan thought he had everything under control, he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. Jason reached down and rearranged the front of his boxers. Even though the wolf wasn't aroused, Bryan could still make out the outline of the wolf's bulge underneath the thin fabric of the wolf's underwear.
Then Jason stretched and rested his arms up behind his head. Dark gray fur, the color of the wolf's happy trail, colored Jason's armpits. Bryan's ears twitched as he nearly dropped his pencil and openly stared over at Jason.
Focus on chemistry, focus on chemistry! Bryan desperately pleaded with himself as he turned back around and looked down at his book. It was pointless. The equations might as well have been written in ancient hieroglyphics for all the sense they were making to him right now. His paw trembled slightly as he tried to write, making his usually neat handwriting messy.
"This is ridiculous," Bryan muttered under his breath. "Get it together, Bryan. He's straight. He's probably homophobic. And he's definitely not interested in some nerdy gay rabbit."
At that exact moment, Jason paused in his mental tally of punching sheep. He had only caught bits and pieces of Bryan's statement. The wolf not only completely misheard the rabbit's words but also completely misinterpreted their meaning. To Jason, the rabbit had said something about getting a proto-phobe or something. Jason debated saying something for about a second before going back to hitting things in his imagination. He didn't care what Bryan was doing or what the rabbit was complaining about. Jason just wished Bryan would do whatever it was he was doing more quietly.
Back on the other side of the room, Bryan's sensitive ears picked up the pause in Jason's breathing. It made Bryan even more self-conscious. Crap, Maybe I should just go to the library... Bryan thought, but the library was closing soon. So maybe he should head down to the cafeteria? No, Bryan chastised himself, that would be admitting defeat.
Instead of doing anything, Bryan pulled his knees up to his chest as he sat in his chair. Then Bryan rested his head on top of them and attempted to focus on studying. It goes without saying that Bryan had very little success at this. So eventually, the rabbit gave up.
With a stifled yawn, Bryan pulled off his vest and then crawled into bed, turning off his lamp on the way. At first, Bryan tossed and turned, trying to get comfortable. He was determined to completely ignore Jason. But as Bryan lay there, his mind began to wander, and he kept glancing over at the wolf.
The dim light that poured in through their dorm room window provided just enough light for Bryan to see almost everything. His eyes continued to roam over the shadowed valleys and peaks of the wolf's muscular arms and chest. Bryan rubbed his face with his paw as he forced himself to look away.
He was normally a side sleeper, but every time he turned onto his side, he couldn't help but look over at Jason. Bryan couldn't sleep facing the wall, so he'd turn and try laying on his back. This made the rabbit self-conscious because of an unfortunate stiffness that prominently jutted upward from between his legs. Naturally, Bryan had a similar issue getting comfortable when trying to lie on his stomach.
For his part, Jason had finally fallen asleep. Because of this, the wolf was blissfully unaware of Bryan's unfortunate predicament. And so, Jason didn't care. That is, until several hours later- at what had to be well past midnight- when Jason was awoken unexpectedly.
The wolf's ears twitched as they registered a rustling noise on the other side of the room. It was coming from Bryan's bed. Jason remained still but cracked one of his eyes open. In the dim light that still streamed in from the window, Jason could clearly see Bryan curled up on his bed. The rabbit had his back to the wolf and was facing the wall. His blanket was pulled up to his chin, but there was a subtle movement beneath it.
Bryan's breathing was slightly labored. I shouldn't be doing this, Bryan thought. His ears were pressed flat against his head in shame. But I can't sleep and I can't stop thinking about... The rabbit bit his lower lip to stifle any sound as his body trembled.
Bryan froze momentarily when he heard movement from Jason's side of the room. The rabbit held his breath as he slowly turned his head to look over at Jason. Jason quickly closed his eyes again.
In the dim light, all Bryan could see was the still outline of his new roommate. Jason hadn't moved since the last time Bryan had looked over at him. The wolf remained motionless.
After a moment of silence, Bryan turned and laid on his back. The rabbit tried to calm himself. Jason was still asleep, and the wolf had his headphones on. Those things probably blocked out everything. At least, that's what the rabbit told himself as he tried to justify continuing. Bryan just needed to be quick. Then he could finally get some rest.
Bryan returned his attention back to himself. He ran his paw over his shirt, down his stomach, and into his briefs, where it started moving again under the blanket. As Bryan slowly picked up where he left off, he tried to be more careful about not making any noise. Just a little more- I'm almost there. Bryan thought as his heart rate sped up.
In his mind, the rabbit replayed Jason stripping off his clothes. Instead of Jason going to sleep on the other side of the room, the wolf walked over and pinned Bryan against the wall. Firm paws held Bryan as a warm, wet tongue licked up his neck. The wolf's teeth nipped at his skin.
On the other side of the room, the actual Jason was slightly annoyed at having been woken up. But after thinking about it for a moment, he realized that this was probably going to be a thing. Jason hadn't had time to have this conversation with his last roommate, so he didn't know how to handle the situation. They were both guys and all- But still, the rabbit could have waited till he was alone in the room.
Maybe Bryan hadn't wanted to wake him up and ask him to step out? Maybe the rabbit needed to rub a quick one out - rabbits were known to have abnormally high libidos. Wait, was that a stereotype? Would it be rude to ask? Jason suddenly had a ton of questions.
Mental gymnastics and dialogue aside, Jason didn't want to make a scene. So, he decided that he would just ignore what was happening. Jason would talk to the rabbit later about setting up a schedule or something. Or maybe not; Jason hated awkward conversations. He didn't know how to handle them. Really, all that Jason wanted was to go back to sleep.
With that decided, Jason stayed still and didn't say anything. He wondered how long the rabbit was going to be. From the sounds Jason was hearing, he was pretty certain that the rabbit wouldn't last much longer. That being said, Jason was more curious about what was happening on the other side of the room than he cared to admit.
The wolf wasn't really what one would consider shy. Whatever was happening over on the rabbit's bed sounded intense. Maybe it wouldn't hurt if he just stole a peek? Just one peek didn't mean anything-right? It'd be just like checking out a guy in porn. Didn't mean anything.
Jason cracked his eye open again and looked over at Bryan. On the other side of the room, Bryan's paw moved rhythmically beneath his blanket, the rabbit's breath coming in short, quiet gasps. Bryan's other paw gripped his pillow tightly as the rabbit's body trembled. His long ears remained pressed flat against his head, twitching occasionally.
This is so wrong, Bryan thought, his mind filled with forbidden fantasies of powerful muscles under gray fur pushing down on him. But he couldn't help it, he wanted more. Bryan pushed his covers down as his movements became urgent, the rabbit's body shaking with need. He bit down on his lip to muffle his gasps as his tail twitched rapidly beneath him.
Bryan's cock, though not as large as some might expect, was perfectly proportioned for his lithe frame. The soft fur at its base was matted with pre-cum as the rabbit stroked himself. His thumbpad occasionally brushed over his sensitive tip. Every brush caused the rabbit to shiver as Bryan quickly approached the point of no return.
Images of Jason's muscular form continued to flash through Bryan's fantasies- the way the wolf's biceps flexed as he unpacked, the tantalizing trail of fur leading down from his naval, the impressive bulge in his boxers. Bryan's hips began to move involuntarily as the rabbit thrust up into his grip. His claws poked tiny holes into the fabric of his pillow. His entire body shook with the effort of staying quiet, every muscle straining from the building pressure.
With a muffled moan, Bryan's toes curled, his back arched slightly, and then - a wave of intense pleasure washed over him. His cock pulsed in his grip, spurting hot streams of cum onto his stomach and up his chest. The rabbit's doing an impressive job of covering himself.
Bryan continued to quietly moan into his pillow, barely managing to get enough air to breathe as his orgasm ripped through his body. For several long moments, Bryan lay there panting softly, his paw still gently stroking his sensitive cock as the last spasms of his orgasm subsided.
But after the fog of lust cleared, reality came brutally crashing back. What have I done? Bryan thought as a wave of humiliation washed over him.
With a start, Bryan realized he had just masturbated to thoughts of his roommate, who was mere feet away. He propped himself up and reached into his nightstand, quickly grabbing some tissues to clean himself up. Then the rabbit froze, looking back over at Jason, who still hadn't moved. Bryan stayed perfectly still, holding his breath, expecting Jason to open his eyes at any moment. Yet, as he watched Jason, the wolf remained 'asleep'.
Bryan relaxed and wiped himself off as best he could. He forced himself to lie back down, curling up into a tight ball. He stuffed the tissues into his pocket so he could dispose of them in the morning.
As Bryan tried to forget what he had just done, shame and lingering pleasure fought within his mind as he struggled to steady his breathing. He hoped he could finally go to sleep - and hopefully forget his moment of weakness.
On the other side of the room, Jason slowly opened one of his eyes again and peeked over at Bryan. Well, Bunny Boy was certainly backed up, Jason thought as he smirked to himself. Jason didn't consider himself gay, but the way Bryan had looked with his back arched, the way the rabbit's body had trembled, the soft moans... it was doing something for the wolf. The entire situation had not been something Jason had been expecting. Now that it had happened, Jason wasn't sure how to feel about it.
Yet, while his thoughts might have been conflicted, his body certainly was reacting unexpectedly. Jason could feel his elevated heart rate. He could also feel a certain pulsing sensation in his boxers. Jason wrote the feeling off as just being pent up. There hadn't been any chances since orientation for the wolf to have some 'personal time,' so Jason thought he understood what the rabbit was dealing with. That being said, Jason definitely wasn't going to do anything with Bryan there in the room. Especially not after what the rabbit had just done. That'd be... well, gay.
Jason's body's reaction was slightly confusing to the young wolf. It didn't help that his keen sense of smell could easily pick up the evidence of Bryan's activities - a slightly salty musk that was unmistakably rabbit permeating the room. Jason didn't hate the smell, but he also didn't like what it implied.
The wolf closed his eyes. It was far too late at night to be thinking about this stuff. He'd just deal with it later. Jason made a mental note to talk to Bryan about some additional rules tomorrow and then drifted back off to sleep.
