Micro May Day 27: Be Careful How you Wish
This story's prompt was: wish and a hidden world. A man wanting to hunt for secrets gets more than he bargained for.
It took months of tracking down an artifact. After many frauds or failures to acquire it, I finally believe I have what I was looking for. I unwrapped the packing and put the somewhat old-looking box on the table. To most people, it was just an unassuming antique, but with the right spell, it will show its true nature. After reciting the incantation, the box starts to glow.
"Yes! Yes! This is it!" I say as The room fills with light until a puff of smoke comes out and before me stands... Well, a genie floated. He lazily yawned and opened his eyes as he looked me in the eyes.
"So you have awoken me?" He says groggy.
"Yes, I did. That means I get some wishes, right?"
"One."
"One?!"
"One. I don't know how this rumor started that you get more, but I'm only required to give you one. What do you want? I want to get this over with."
Now that he is here... I haven't really given it much thought. I was mostly working to expose the more magical side of the world. There could be so much I could learn from this one wish. I think I got an idea that could work.
"I would like a new perspective that would allow me to see more of the hidden aspects of this world." I say.
He looks at me before snapping his fingers.
"Granted." A blinding light comes and fills the room, and I'm transported somewhere. When my vision clears, I see a towering forest and a village nearby. Confused, I walk forward to bump into a boulder. I take a look around my surroundings again. I double take as I look at the forest again and notice not trees but blades of grass. This must mean that the rumor of ultra-tiny people must have been true! Confirming two unusual things in a day was a new record!
I rush to it before I'm stopped by two guards.
"Halt, stranger! Identity yourself." One said. Taking a look at both of them, one was a Dalmatian man, the other was a ferret man. It was so amazing that they were basically just like normal people outside the scale! So much so that I drew a blank as they looked at me funny.
"Alright, you are coming with us." The other guard said. As I was dragged through the town, I got a lot of stares and strange looks. I also notice that a lot of people don't really have clothes or are just without pants or shirts, sometimes suggesting they have different views on casual nudity. Getting an eye full of cock is one upside.
I'm taken to some kind of palace, and they lock me in a jail cell.
"You will stay there until the emperor decides your fate, trespasser." The ferret guard said as they both walked back up.
Well this is bad, but if I just get out of here using a wish-Oh right. Only one. Well, maybe things won't be so bad. They have to let me out sometime, right?
