Chapter 68 - A Loving Master Is A True Master

For the rest of the day into the evening, Chris and the girls spent their time amongst all their friends, making sure to send them off with full stomachs and a good time as thanks for helping them out and supported them throughout the recent events. Once night had come, Chris paid in full for their tickets back home before they boarded one of the many bus's leaving the city. "I stick by what I said lad... You've come a long way indeed... And you've done an amazing job with these girls... I look at them and see such joy in their faces, such life in their eyes... I know I've said it many times, but it truly is an honor to have your painting in my gym... You're a wonderful man." Guile told Chris with a smile before shaking Serenity's hand. "And you my dear... I'm so proud of you... Pangoro and I couldn't be happier knowing how much you've grown... What you displayed at that battle was nothing short of incredible. The distance you're willing to go for this young man... The dedication you have to restraining yourself when he commands... To have such power, be it pure or dark, yet also the capability of holding yourself back nonetheless... I'd wager many others of your species would be wise to look up to you indeed..." he chuckled as Serenity flushed and laughed embarrassed. "No need praise!! You embarrass me..." she replied, poking her fingers shyly with a grin on her face. "Farewell all... I look forward to seeing you again someday..." he added, bowing before heading into the bus with a wave. "That old guy... He's something else." Chris chuckled, looking at Serenity and holding her hand. "But he's right! Every Pokemon in your race should look up to you... Every single one." he grinned, causing her to flush all the brighter with wide eyes, looking down at her hand in his and freezing up with a wide smile on her face stretching from ear to ear before letting out a flattered yet awkward giggle of embarrassment.

"Appreciate the ticket home! Saved me a fortune!!" Lia suddenly shout, jumping up from behind and slumping over Chris causing him to shout and stumble forward, Serenity jolting before crossing her arms and puffing out her cheeks with a frustrated look from having her moment interrupted. "Ahh... Ha ha... Not a problem..." he replied nervously as she poked his cheek with a giggle. "You're something else... Why is it my kind of men are always taken?" she grinned causing him to flush as she backed away. "And you... Niiiice job tripping up the competition! You're a real wiz with those crazy vines of yours!" she told Alicia with a thumbs up, the snake jolting before smirking proudly. "Naturally! Big or small, a dog is just a dog when against me. They all bow just the same!" she laughed. "O... Oy... Don't refer to others like that..." Chris lectured. "You want me to respect those who lose to me...? Be happy I decided to show courtesy to that ape!" she snapped back, waving her finger at him as he sighed and shook his head. "Alright, alright... Anyways, great seeing you again too." he told Lia, shaking her hand as she nodded and boarded the bus as well. With the two each now sitting at a window, they waved at Chris and the others as the bus closed its doors and headed into the city, returning them to their respective towns. "Too bad they couldn't stay longer... That's one thing that must make being a gym leader suck, always having people waiting to fight you... They've probably got a heck of a line waiting back home." Chris laughed nervously. "Hmm... Perhaps you should become one of those... Leader humans. I'd fancy the chance to test myself against others from near and far." Alicia smirked. "Ha ha... No thanks. What fighting we do is more than enough for me." Chris replied with a nervous smile, the snake giving him an irritated look before sighing and shaking her head. "How a man attains victory in battle yet treats the accomplishment as if it means nothing to him is beyond me... Why do I love you aga...!!" she paused, suddenly turning away with a flush of humiliation as Chris and the others blinked. "Say what now...?" he asked, tilting his head as she crossed her arms. "Nothing!! Finish your business here so we can go!!" she replied harshly as Serenity and Rose looked at one another, shaking their heads with a sigh. "Fine fine..." he sighed, facing N and shaking his hand. "Thanks for hangin' out with us. I must admit you're a bit strange... But you're still a pretty cool guy." he smiled, N laughing nervously in response. "Indeed... I still have a lot of work to do before I'm able to mingle with others properly... Thanks for letting me hang around nonetheless... I suspect you'll be leaving the city soon... Hopefully we'll run into each other again too someday." he nodded before whistling into the sky, Pidgeot soon responding and lowering to the ground. "It was great getting to know you and your family! I hope I meet more people like you and Ash along my travels!" he said with a wave as the bird took off into the night sky. "That's the last of him then..." Alicia muttered before letting out a relieved groan. "Honestly, the way he pops in and out of nowhere wherever he pleases..." she added. "Oh be nice... He's a good guy at heart, leave him be." Chris chuckled, waving his hand causing the snake to roll her eyes.

"And thus only we remain..." Gerald said, stepping up and looking in the direction the bus went before looking up at the sky. "Many characters have come to know you, and respect you Master Chris..." he chuckled, giving him a pat on the shoulder. "Hard to believe not long ago you were bedridden... Now here you are..." he added, nodding before returning to the limo and opening the door. Looking at the girls, Chris chuckled and put an arm over Serenity and Rose, motioning for Alicia to climb atop his shoulders before facing Gerald. "You know what...? We'll walk home tonight... You go on home yourself and we'll see you tomorrow." he smiled, the old butler blinking in surprise as the girls did the same. "Are you certain sir...?" he asked while closing the door. "Yeah... Feels good tonight... Plus the hotel isn't that far from this station... Go on and call it quits a little early tonight." he nodded as Gerald climbed into the drivers seat. "Very well sir... Do be careful then... Sure you don't wish for an escort at least...?" he asked, only for Chris to shake his head in response. "I managed to use an ATM earlier... Take this and stop someplace to relax for a while before heading home." he replied, handing Gerald several bills and stepping away from the limo. "W... Well then... I certainly appreciate it..." he nodded with a confused look on his face, giving the group a wave before starting the limo with a wave and driving off. "What's this then?" Alicia asked as the others walked up. "I just think it would do us some good to walk together and have some alone time." he smiled, offering Rose his hand and putting his other arm around Serenity as they strolled along the sidewalks. "Haaah... It really is nice to be free from all that stress now..." he chuckled, looking around at the lights. "...We'll be leaving this place soon now that everything's over. The city, overwhelming as it may be, still became kind of a home to me so I figured it couldn't hurt to enjoy the sights a little... Kind of reminds me of when I left the village..." he smiled while looking down. "There's gonna be a lot more goodbyes this time too... But... At least this time I'm not leaving all alone..." he added, looking at the girls as they tilt their heads.

"Hey... Chris...?" Rose said with a shy look on her face. "What's up...? Feeling alright?" he asked as she glanced away. "Y... Yeah. I just wanted to ask... You said stuff about us at that place we fought at... Is that really true...?" she asked as he tilt his head for a moment as well. "Oh!! You mean the names and all... Of course I did! You still don't believe me?" he asked as she started rubbing her ear with her free hand. "Sorry... Being told that kind of stuff is new to me... I've always been useless to humans and other Pokemon don't feel all that different about me either... It's just hard living the way I have and suddenly someone tells you things like you did... " she replied. Looking around, Chris found a bench and made the girls sit down together, lowering onto his knee in front of the rabbit who sat in the middle. "You listen to me... Every word I say about all of you is the truth..." he told her with a stern look, giving the others the same look as well. "I once told Alicia if she wanted to be by my side, she had to let the past go... She had to realize I was different than who she was with... And that goes for you as well. I can't do anything about how you girls were treated before we met, but what I CAN do is give my all to give you the lives you've always deserved... A life any living creature deserves... One that's happy, that makes you see you're worth as much as anyone else in this world. Everybody has their strengths and weaknesses... Your strength lies in your heart more than your fists... Nothing wrong with that at all..." he said, rubbing the rabbit on the head before facing Serenity. "...People judge your worth more often than not by how you appear on the outside, how strong you are physically... The world often isn't a place that looks past appearances nowadays, I'll admit that... But no matter what people think of you or say... You're not monsters or demons..." he said, nodding at Serenity before facing Alicia. "You're not worthless just because you don't look the way others want you to look... Because you may be afraid of certain things or because you don't follow others expectations..." he said, nodding at the snake as well before looking at Rose again. "You're not worthless because you don't like confrontation... There are tons of people in this world who hate fighting... Having a gentle soul isn't anything to be ashamed of. It's something to respect... A lot of people don't have that kind of soul anymore either..." he admit, holding her hands together in his. "All three of you are absolutely amazing... If the world could learn to be more like you on the inside it would be a much better place... Sure on the outside you might seem scary to others..." he told them while looking at Serenity. "Or you might seem harsh or intimidating..." he continued while looking at Alicia. "Or you might seem meek to other people... But that's just it..." he continued while pulling out the Millennium Badge from his coat and holding it up to Rose. "To OTHER people... The ONLY thing matters is how you see YOURSELF in this world... Understand...?" he continued before working the badge on her chokers ring. "Nothing anybody else says about you... Nothing anybody else thinks about you... Not even what I say or think about you... It doesn't matter if inside, you feel differently about yourself..." he added while attaching the badge. "The only time someone else is right about you is if you LET them be right... If you LET what they say determine everything about you... The badges the girls wear... And the badge you wear now..." he paused, looking it over to make sure it was on correctly before backing away and standing with a nod and putting the Pokeball end of his staff on her head. "They are the symbol of the moment in each of your lives that YOU proved the world was wrong about you..." he told her before putting the Pokeball on Serenity's head. "That you put the past behind you, and all those who doubted you..." he continued before putting it on Alicia's head. "Those who said you had no worth... Your badges reflect the moment you blew all of that clear out of the water and showed the world you're capable of standing with the best of them... And conquering them..." he finished, holding his staff firmly by his side again with a smile.

"What others say or think never matters... Only how you feel about yourselves... In my opinion, you girls are the best things to ever exist in this world... You're all strong, you're all brave... You all have hearts inside you that shine brighter than any star in the sky... Souls as pure and just as any angel in the great beyond..." he continued, rubbing his head embarrassed with a laugh. "I know that sounds really cheesy... I'm always lame when it comes to these speeches..." he said with a smirk. "But no matter how dorky it sounds, every word out of my mouth is the honest truth from the core of my heart." he affirmed, patting his chest with his fist and a nod. As he spoke, the group paid little attention to the ever growing crowd around them listening in, full of people recording the event with their cells and cuddling up as the ever stalking news crew caught the event as well. Sitting on the bench silently, all three were sniffling with tears welling up, each clutching the badge hanging from their necks with a blush on their faces. "You... Idiot..." Alicia replied while facing away and crossing her arms, sniffling in an attempt to resist weeping. "Say nice stuff... Always say nice stuff..." Serenity hicked, suddenly crying and trying to wipe the tears from her eyes. "The greatest honor of my life was meeting you girls... And it's STILL an honor every day to have you by my side, sharing the good times and the bad while supporting me all the way... No matter how long I've known you three, I love you equally and always will... Each and every one of you mean the world to me... You are my world... Even you Rose... We might not have the most history, but you're still as dear to me as they are nonetheless..." he affirmed, looking at the rabbit as she started hicking all the more before quickly hiding her face behind her ears and sobbing herself. Looking at the three, he chuckled before putting his hand on Serenity and rubbing her head. "I've got the best protector..." he told her before rubbing Alicia's head. "The most amazing royalty..." he added before rubbing Rose's head. "And the greatest friend in the world... All together you girls are a family I'll never feel like I deserve... But I'll always be honored for having anyways... I love you..." he nodded with a chuckle, the snake biting her lip before finally joining the others in sobbing as the crowd swooned.

"My... Master... My... Master..." Serenity sobbed, getting on her knees and clutching his coat tightly while hiding her face. "Love you... Master... Love you... Chris..." she hicked as he looked down scratching his cheek with a nervous smile. "H... hey now... Easy on the master stu...!!" he paused with an "urk!!" as Rose suddenly clung to him as well, followed by Alicia who climbed up and under his coat and clung to his chest while crying in hiding. "Ahh... Ha ha... Too much...?" he smiled warmly, rubbing the two on the head below and patting Alicia on the back over his coat. Looking around, he saw the crowd swooning while recording the moment as a keepsake, causing him to sweat slightly and wave embarrassed. "G... Geez... Come on now..." he coaxed, pulling Serenity up and patting Rose on the head. As the two stood trying to stop their tears and he felt Alicia trembling in his coat, he let out a sigh and shook his head. "Well... Guess now's as good a time as any to show my thanks for you girls helping me then..." he said before putting a hand on Serenity's cheek, causing her to jolt and look at him only for her eyes to shoot open wide as he gave her a kiss on the lips, causing her to fall backwards once he pulled away and sit with her mouth agape in shock, a bright flush on her face as he bent down and rubbed Rose on the head, giving her a kiss on the lips causing the rabbits long ears to shoot up straight until he pulled away. Standing in an equal amount of shock as Serenity, both looked up at him as he pat Alicia again, pulling his coat open enough to see her as she looked up at him. Taking the chance, she too got a kiss on the lips causing her tail to shoot out of his coat, and once he pulled away the snake went limp and slipped right out from under his coat, sitting with a slight thud at his feet looking up with a flush of her own. "Ha ha!! Looks like I FINALLY got to be the one to catch YOU girls off guard!! AND at the same time!!" he laughed while pointing at their expressions and clutching his stomach. "Oh man... You're right Alicia... Victory IS sweet..." he chuckled while taking a deep breath as the crowd laughed around them. Helping Serenity up against him and resting Alicia along his shoulders, he pulled Rose close as well with a grin before finally continuing their walk...

Along their way through the city, the girls remained silent and kept their faces down shyly, each showing a blush that wouldn't cease as he walked with a grin from ear to ear, finally being the one to leave them flustered as the lights of the city shimmered around them. "Ooohhh what a day... I got my freedom back... I got to tell you girls how I feel again and even catch you off guard... I feel pretty great... Top that off with the machine the professor worked on with me helping Serenity see and all... This really has been a great stay... Scratch the prison chaos and all!" he laughed as they nodded silently. "The best thing of all though is that we get to leave here on a good note... Everybody is happy... Hopefully we inspired the Warden to patch things up with his son and all... Getting to help kids and those eggs at the center... Ninetails seriously needs to learn the difference between a gift and a curse! This life is AWESOME!!" he laughed before strolling ahead of the girls excitedly with a spring in his step. "...You're a strange human..." he heard Ninetails voice echo before its aura suddenly fade into view next to him, the mystical beast now strolling by his side surprising the girls as they blinked wide eyed. "Oh ho...? Well look who's joining us..." he grinned giving Ninetails a thumbs up. "Yes well... It doesn't hurt to appear and give you a well done compliment I suppose..." it replied while keeping its focus forward. "A well done...? YOU'RE congratulating me...?" he asked in shock. "...You've done well thus far. During moments such as the incident at the cliff and the human vehicle, you've surprised me human..." it replied with a nod as he continued looking at it in shock before glancing away and scratching his cheek with a smile and a flattered blush. "Th... Thanks... Glad I've met expectations..." he grinned excitedly. "Watching you on this journey... Many things have happened I didn't foresee... Mostly revolving the following you've garnered through time... Originally your life was meant to serve only Pokemon in need, yet along the way you've managed to serve man and creature alike instead... Rather than a mere life serving my own kind, you serve all who need aid, many in need of help I am unaware of... You surpass the expectations placed upon you... What you do for your kind... The things you continue to do for those you've already helped..." it paused, looking at Serenity. "Admittedly I am... Proud of you... Human..." it told him with a slight bow of its head, causing Chris to stop and stand wide eyed. "...I am happy you enjoy this life. Albeit a chosen one, you've accepted it and found a way to discover your own happiness while following the path set for you, all the while helping far more beings than you were meant to..." it added before suddenly starting to fade away. "Your grandfather... You're very much like him indeed... He would be proud to know you've become the human you are today... A human even I can respect..." it said as it faded more and more until only part of its face remained. "Even if only a little..." it finished, showing a slight smile before it disappeared altogether. Standing in silence, Chris looked down for a moment before rubbing his Grandfathers Pokeball, showing a small smile and a tear as the girls walked up and looked at him before wrapping their arms around him, Alicia brushing his cheek with her tail and patting his shoulder with a smile. "Thanks Ninetails... You're awesome..." he chuckled before nudging the girls back and assuring them he was fine, showing a grin once again before they continued their stroll to the hotel.

"What I said though... About the demon thing... That reminded me..." he said while holding Serenity's hand. "I haven't said much about that... What the Warden said about you but... Trust me, you're not a demon and you never will be... Not in my eyes... And I won't let anyone else see you as a demon either... I promise... You're too amazing to have a name like that thrown at you." he assured with a smile. "Th... Thank you..." she replied with a nod before walking along poking her fingers shyly. "You're just a girl... One who gives her all to protect who she loves and sticks up for what she thinks is right... You only fall into that state when somebody does something bad and you want to stand up against it, so that doesn't make you a monster at all... Just a crazy powerful hero!" he grinned with a thumbs up causing her to flush and give him a nudge. "N... No more nice... That enough..." she replied while clutching her chest. "Ha ha... Alright alright..." he smiled while ruffling her hair and rubbing Rose on the head as well causing the rabbit to blush slightly. As he lift his hand to scratch Alicia under the chin, he paused and laughed nervously as the snake gave him a scowl. "R... Right... Sorry..." he told her while pulling his hand away. "...Oh just do it..." she grumbled, glancing away as he blinked in surprise. "R... Really? I can do it?" he asked as she blushed embarrassed. "Either do it or forget it!!" she snapped causing him to jump and laugh nervously. "Well then... My pleasure." he nodded before reaching under her chin again and scratching away causing the side of her lips to tremble while biting them and her spine to shudder as she tried to remain collected, but as always it didn't take long for her to fall into the usual spell as a smile spread across her face and her tail twitched excitedly, an odd hiss-like purr coming from the snake while her tongue flickered repeatedly and her eyes showed a dazed look of pleasure. "Wow... I can finally scratch your chin now... This is awesome!" he grinned as she pulled away and shook her head, taking a deep breath to relax herself before clearing her throat. "Y... Yes well... A privilege... Abuse it and you lose it..." she scowled while crossing her arms. "But... You may... Now and then." she added with a slight blush. "Ha ha... You're the best... I thank you for the honor m'lady..." he nodded with a smile, earnestly putting a hand on his chest with a slight bow causing the snake to look at him wide eyed from the sudden use of etiquette. "Oh my... Now that's more like it..." she replied with a smile, giving him a slight nod with her head as well. "Shouldn't spoil..." Serenity grumbled while watching the two. "Oh come on... It doesn't hurt to go the extra mile to make someone happy now and then... Don't be jealous, I've been equally nice to all of you." he smirked while ruffling her hair causing Serenity to jump away and shout in irritation. "You KNOW I not like that!!!" she snapped, puffing out her cheeks while fixing her hair. "...You're cute when you're angry too..." he told her, giving the irritated Pokemon a wink causing Serenity to jolt and blush slightly while watching him walk ahead.

"You know Rose, gotta admit that badge looks great on you." he smiled after noticing her looking it over in her reflection as they passed shop windows causing the rabbit to jump in surprise. "Th... Thanks..." she replied with a shy smile. "You take good care of that now... It's important. We always take care of things given to us by others." he nodded while looking over his staff and the stones within. "Even if some things you question... You still take care of them." he repeat while touching the Key Stone with a somber look. "...Anyways. I can see the hotel up ahead girls... I can't wait to enjoy my first night without the criminal title over my head." he chuckled while stretching. Once they reached the entrance, Chris stopped and looked around at the surrounding buildings once more, taking in the lights and looking at the girls as they walked up to the doors, Alicia slithering off his shoulders and standing together with the others waiting with smiles on their faces. "Yeah...Best life a guy could ask for..." he smiled, walking up as Rose held his hand and Serenity pat him on the back, Alicia nodding before the group went inside and returned to their room. "It's so weird... Being stuck with all of that trouble on my mind... Now that the drama is over and everything it feels like I'm walking through the city... Even going to our room for the first time... You really feel like you've just stepped into a new life when you feel free again... Maybe this is kinda how you girls felt when you joined me?" he asked while walking out onto the balcony and taking a deep breath. "Feel like in sky..." Serenity replied while walking next to him and looking over the city, leaning on the rail with a smile. "The sky... Don't remind me about that." he laughed thinking back on when she sent him flying, Serenity picking up on the reference and laughing embarrassed. "Sorry, sorry. You know couldn't help it... Make me too happy..." she replied while leaning her head on his shoulder. "She's right though... It does kinda feel like being in the sky... You're not afraid anymore... Everything just feels... Okay... You feel like... Everything is good, even if things happened that worried you before... It all feels gone... If it makes sense." Rose added, walking up and holding his hand again with a smile.

Looking at the two, he chuckled as Alicia slithered up onto the rail. "I admit... They hit the nail on the head... Things are simply better. That is all there is to it." she nodded. Standing in silence for a moment, the group simply enjoyed a moment alone, without any worries in the world while taking in the endless shimmering lights below. "...Can never repay you..." Serenity suddenly told him. "Repay me...? What for...? I don't want payment for anything..." he replied in a confused tone. "Not care... Still can never repay you... Life I have now... Life we have... Can never repay for giving us life..." she told him while touching her eye now full of color and clarity. "You only human in world... Who would give so much... Work so hard to find ways just to give... Give up so much, to give to others... Especially to Pokemon..." she added. "I don't do anything for praise... So please." he reminded with a hand up. "Happiness... That's all I care about... A life of happiness and peace... For myself, and especially for those by my side. And whoever else I find myself lucky enough to run into..." he chuckled. Looking inside the room at the clock, he glanced himself over with a shrug and went inside, rummaging through drawers as the girls watched him take out towels and such and a change of clothes. "What doing?" Serenity asked as they walked back in as well. "Gonna go ahead and take a bath... Really feel like taking it easy in some nice hot water after today... It won't take me long. You girls can hang out and relax in the meantime, alright?" he smiled before heading into the bathroom and closing the door, leaving it cracked so he could hear what went on. Looking at the door with a slight blush, Serenity faced down and sat on the bed, rubbing her arm shyly as the others walked up to her. "You've been rather odd as of late... Since getting that sight of yours I've not seen you behave as lecherously... I'm impressed, although it's a tad weird as well... I've not seen you join him in the bath once." Alicia told her with a raised eyebrow "Oh yeaaaah... She's right... You always go in there alone now, don't you? Is something wrong?" Rose asked. "N... No... Just that... Able to see... Make nervous..." she replied while poking her fingers. "When blind, I make moves... Now can see... What him make first move... For first time able to see..." she added with a blush. "Noooow I get it... Although your speech is still terrible... You feel like you're getting to experience your first time obtaining a mate again, aren't you? You want the male to claim you himself this time..." she smirked with her arms crossed and her nose up proudly. "I knew something was up... Just brilliant intuition." she added.

"...Mate?" Rose asked with a wide eyed flush. "Yes yes... Admittedly the both of us have experienced such activities with the fool, but to VERY different degrees... This one here has already done it all..." Alicia replied as Serenity looked towards the bathroom nervously yet anxiously. "He's not going to make a move without a push to do so. And the way you've been acting is starting to get fairly annoying... With each day you grow all the more restless, so personally I'd rather you do SOMETHING with the fool to put an end to your behavior instead of having to put up with it getting worse and worse." she told Serenity before heading into the kitchen for a snack. Looking at the girls and back at the door, Serenity clutched her chest and stood, heading for the door and freezing up in front of it while biting her lip nervously. "Oh do go in would you...? Take the chance to do something while it is given before minds are changed..." Alicia told her with an irritated look, shooing her with her hand. Nodding before taking a deep breath, Serenity knocked on the door and jumped when Chris responded with a sudden "What's up?" from within. "Ca can... I come... Can... In...?" she replied with a flush on her face. "Say what...? Can huh now...? Hang on, let me get a towel..." he replied. "Oh good heavens... Go on!!" Alicia shout, shoving the door open causing Chris to stand frozen in the middle of wrapping a towel around his waist, his body completely exposed causing Serenity to eye him wide eyed and glance towards his crotch, immediately flushing as Alicia froze up herself, looking at him with an "oops..." expression and blushing as well. "What's wrong with you...? Is something..." Rose asked, pausing and stumbling as she walked in front of the entrance wide eyed and looked at Chris as well with her ears shooting up once again. Looking at the three himself, Chris's face slowly flushed more and more until he finally snapped out of the moment, shaking his head and hiking the towel around his waist. "SERIOUSLY girls?!!" he snapped as Rose stood peeking through her fingers with a giggle and a spot of drool on the side of her mouth, Alicia smirking with a raised eyebrow and a "not bad..." expression on her face whilst Serenity merely remained frozen with a gulp. "G... Geez... Wadaya want...? You're creepin' me out..." he scowled embarrassed while turning off the faucet hovering over the tub. "I told you girls I'd only be a minute. What's with sending the door flying open on me and gawking...?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
