The Chronicle Begins (As All Light Fades: Chapter I)

(yes, I intend to do a bit more writing in this series...)

Nilem sat in the study, looking diligently over the divine texts. His brown fur was ruffled slightly, from not having left in more than two days. The light brown crescents about his eyes drew down to his muzzle, and trailed off at the side of his mouth. The spectacled bear's green eyes roamed each scroll, taking in every bit of information that memory would allow. His simple cotton tunic clung tight to his upper body, allowing his arms freedom of movement, as the sleeves were removed a long time ago. His legs were fitted loosely by an extremely large pair of cotton leggings that were quite comfortable for one of his stature. His large, furry feet were bare, and his silver greatsword sat forgotten to the side, while the other, obsidian colored blade stood propped against the wall in it's scabbard.

The young bear was training to become a true paladin, a warrior of justice, whose might in the battle against evil could only be matched by the barbarian's ferocity. The only blade faster to reach a foe's throat would be the rogue's. His wisdom: matched only by the druid. His knowledge of the foe's he faced would be second only to the ranger. He would uphold justice, and be a beacon of hope to all who sought comfort. He would be a light to those whom had lost the path. It would be he who would guide the caravan to victory.

"Hey there, Nilem", a gruff voice shot from the door. "Geez, you've been studyin' for more than a day. Ya' got the call of the gods, so you're already a paladin", the Grizzly Barbarian complained.

Nilem chuckled, and looked back. "I may be a paladin, but I can't head out with the caravan if I don't make it past the exams. Come on, Gosel, you and I have been friends since we were cubs, you-"

"If I recall correctly, which I do, we've been a little more than friends for over a year now", Gosel smirked, approaching his 'friend'. "And yeah, I do know you better than anyone, which is how I knew you were pretty damn lonely sittin' in here"

"Now what would make you say that?"

"The only things keeping you company are books, scrolls, and your shadow. Even barbarians have common sense"

"If you've got common sense, why don't you tell our family's about us, Gosel?"

"Reason one: Self-preservation kicks in every time I try. Two: I'd like to see the look on my sister's face if she walks in on us"

"Hey! What are you-?!"

"Come on, Sunshine, you need some shut-eye"

Gosel lifted Nilem from the chair, and dumped him into the nearby bed. The soft, woolen blankets complemented the light, and fluffy pillows. Nilem struggled to break free of the comforting embrace of both his lover, and the warm mattress. However, Gosel kept him pinned to the bed until he stopped squirming, and proceeded to lay down atop him. Nilem smiled as he carressed the larger grizzly who crushed against him. The paladin wriggled about, and removed his own shirt, to match the bear whom lay atop him, so that they were both wearing only a pair of pants, and undergarments. But, they both knew that those wouldn't even be between them soon enough. The hulking, formidable berserker pressed his lips to Nilem's and pressed his tongue against the other bear's muzzle.

"Hold on there, loverboy. Thought I needed some shut-eye?"

"Sex tends to make people sleepy, and it might help you, too"

"Are you saying that because you haven't screwed me in two days, or because you really think I should get some sleep?"

"A little bit of both, actually"

"Well, as long as we're clear"

"Hold on there, loverboy. Paladin's aren't supposed to give in to lust"

"No one ever said we can't have sex. Besides, we're not just fucking each other, we're making love to one another. Last I checked, love is good"

The two bears then tore off their trousers, almost literally, and sat up in the bed, making the wooden frame groan under the weight. The gossamer moonlight filtered in through the window, while the candles on the table cast an ambient glow upon the room.

Both of them were already fully erect, and their underwear strained under the pressure. Their crotches were certainly larger than most could ever dream. Gosel lay back, his head upon the pillows. Nilem straddeled his waist, leaned forward, and kissed the grizzly square on the mouth. The young spectacled bear slipped off his own white, cotton cloth, and slid his hand into Gosel's, groping at his hind quarters. He forced the underwear down, and stared deep into his lover's blue, loving eyes. Gosel lifted the younger bear so that he was straddling his chest, and 'persuaded' him to lie down. Mighty, though he may have been, the paladin surrendered to his captor's will, and smiled as he was pushed downward, toward the ample cock which had fully emerged from it's sheath. He could feel the tip of the giant member press against his ass, slip past the fur, and rub itself against his waiting hole. He bit his lip to stifle a moan as the head of the rubbery cock slid into his rectum. Nilem then felt the pushing continue, and he also felt more and more of the fourteen inch bear meat sliding into him. Gosel pulled out in a torturously slow motion, and left the head of his throbbing member in the hole. The older, larger bear then thrust his shaft back into Nilem, who couldn't help but open his mouth and let out a low moan as Gosel continued the process, going faster and harder each time.

Eventually, Gosel slowed his thrusting, and neared his climax. With one final push into Nilem's bowels, he shot his thick, salty bear seed into his lover's innards. Nilem then plopped down upon his barbarian lover, and laid his head on Gosel's chest. By now the two were a sweaty mass of fur, and they were both breathing heavily.

"Hey, Gosel?", Nilem inquired.

"Yeah?"

"You know that the caravan trials are tomorrow, right?"

"Yeah"

"Ya' think we'll do good?"

"Yep. Y'know, ya' haven't cummed yet"

"So? Too tired to cum"

"But you're not too tired to get screwed up the ass?"

"Nope. Now we both need some sleep, you handsome handsome bear. G'night"

"But I- G'night... you hot piece of ass"

Nilem chuckled before he fell asleep, his head resting lightly on his big gay lover's chest, as it rose and fell so very gently, and he could still feel Gosel's arms wrapped about him. Gosel's embrace... it gave him a sense of security, as though nothing could hurt him as long as Gosel held onto him.

Nilem had missed the other trials, but he had managed to make it in time for The Trial By Might: The Barbarian's Struggle. But, to him, it seemed that Gosel hardly struggled. It didn't matter how many foes surrounded the grizzly in the arena, he couldn't truly be considered flanked. His hammer swung just as fast to left as it did to the right. Nilem could have sworn he'd seen somone get nailed in the ribs by the wrathsteel weapon, and get sent soaring away. The spectacled bear nearly fainted when he saw Gosel take a blow to the shoulder, but cheered ever louder as his heart-felt boyfriend gave a viscious counter attack. Nilem also watched as a fighter soared overhead, and landed in the crowd. The fighter's leg was broken, his shield splintered, and the bone protruded from the wound. It would only get worse if they made Gosel fly into one of the frightful rages that barbarians were known for.

However, it was Nilem's trial now. They'd been told that the monsters within the labrynth weren't lethal, and Nilem was counting on it. All the paladins had to be tested sperately, much like the rogues, rangers, and druids. However, the paladins had a single team mate, and Nilem's happened to be his ranger friend, Asula. She was certainly one of the best, as her arrows could hit a pea pinned to a target. Before they entered the labrynth, the feline drew her bow, and notched an arrow.

"Nilem, what did you tell them you could do better than anything else?"

"Defending"

"So... we have to..."

"I'm supposed to support you as you attempt to grab the divinity's light. But, that's half the challenge. We have to make it back out, and if you go down while we're in there, the trial is a failure. Any questions?"

"Just one"

"Shoot"

"Why in the nine hells did they pick me?!"

Going unanswered, Asula and Nilem entered the labrynth, not knowing what lurked ahead. Nilem's paw went instinctivly to his silver blade, and as he drew it, it let off a soft glow in the stone corridors which had been filled with an eery fog.

"Nilem!" Asula choked.

"Hm?"

"The fog..."

"What about it?"

"It's nerve gas..."
