Xaphelm and Luna (Art Trade)
FINALLY this is done.
This took a long time to write for a number of reasons, one of them being that I had to rewrite the entire thing at one point. But it's finally done.
In this story, Xaphelm's OC Xaphelm meets Luna, and together, they have a feast, and you get to watch and enjoy.
((Warning: This story contains soft vore with multiple prey and digestion. Read at your own risk!
This is part of an art trade with Xaphelm. The accompanying picture will be linked in the description. Enjoy!))
Xaphelm and Luna
What world is this?
_ _
As Xaphelm opened his eyes, he looked around, and found nothing that clued him in. He knew he had passed into a different world; that much was for sure, but he couldn't tell what. All he saw was tress all around him; tall trees, with dark green needles adorning them. The cold air combined with this foliage, and the white snow that covered everything like a blanket, clued him into a northern region, but that was all he could tell from his surroundings.
He knew he had crossed into a different world because his machine had malfunctioned. The flying device strapped to his back, the one he used as transportation most of the time, had been damaged by debris midflight, and its warp drive had gone into acceleration, to the point where it had propelled him into another dimension.
It had happened to him before, and he recognized the signs. He saw the tell-tale distortion of the world around him that signified the warp drive, and then he saw things begin to rush by, faster and faster, until there was a blinding light, and then nothing.
When he woke up, his machine was broken, in two pieces on either side of his furry body. He was in the middle of the forest. As he looked around, he saw that some of the trees around him had been damaged, and behind him was a charred path through the snow and ground. He could tell where he had crashed; on the far side of it was a large crater.
That was where he was now. In a world he didn't know, surrounded by a northern landscape.
He pushed himself to his feet, and looked down at the broken machine. Cursing to himself, he picked up the broken pieces, and tucked them under his arm. He would have to repair it before he was able to get back. He knew how to do that, and was good at it even without the advanced technology his home world had. But he would need supplies first.
If I could just find whoever it is that lives here... he thought.
He looked around, trying to guess which direction civilization would lie. Eventually, he picked a random direction, settled on it, and started walking.
* * *
He walked for about an hour before he finally left the woods.
When the trees finally began to thin, he found himself at the foothills of a mountain. The ground rose and fell lightly ahead of him, until it finally starting curving upwards towards a large, snow-crested peak. There were spots of trees along the lower half of the natural structure, but for the most part, it was all snow and rock.
Up in the sky, directly behind the mountain, he caught sight of a thin tendril of smoke curling softly through the blue sky. Someone was behind it. Possibly more than one someone.
That was where he needed to go.
Without any further ado, he set his course for the mountain.
At first, it was easy. He was physically fit, and carrying the remains of his machinery was no problem. But as he got closer to the mountain, as and his energy slowly waned, and as the terrain slowly sloped upwards, he realized that he desperately wished his equipment still worked.
Sometime during his trek, he took a break, and looked up at the mountain to see how far he had come.
There was quite a ways to go yet, and the sun was starting to get low in the sky. It wasn't time for him to stop yet, but eventually it would be.
As he scanned the structure, a small opening about halfway up the slope caught his attention. As he squinted his eyes, he confirmed what it was; a cave.
A few calculations ran through his head. Would he be able to get there by sundown? He thought he could. Just barely, if was fast enough.
If nobody was inhabiting that cave currently, he might just spend the night there.
* * *
He continued his journey with that plan in his mind. He continued walking until the trees started to grow thinner and shorter, and then he looked up once again.
The sun was lowering into the horizon, and the sky was awash in hues of orange, red and pink. The clouds looked plump and purple. The sky in this world was quite beautiful, and if he had had time, he would have stopped to admire it.
But though there was still light in the sky, there wouldn't be for much longer. He had to make it to the cave soon.
Looking up, he searched for the entrance, and found it. From the looks of it, it seemed to be about three miles from where he was now. It was still a ways away, but he had made progress. In fact, he was almost there.
He was tired and aching now, but he had been through worse. Though the broken machinery underneath his arms was weighing down more than ever before, and the skin beneath his fur was actually becoming somewhat raw from them rubbing against him. But he persevered. He could do it. He _knew_he could.
He started walking.
Three miles and an hour later, he had arrived at the cave.
* * *
Unbeknownst to Xaphelm, inside the cave another creature, one very different from him, slept.
Luna the Night Fury was curled up in a sleek, scaly ball against the back wall of the cave, her belly just faintly bulging out with the remains of a recent meal. It gurgled and glorped as she churned it away, and within a couple hours it would be gone completely.
Though it wasn't fully dark out yet, it didn't really matter. She had been sleeping all day to let her body work down its massive meal. She typically did this after an especially indulgent feeding day, and that label had fit her previous day really well.
As such, when the stranger reached her cave, she wasn't awake to greet him.
* * *
With one final strain of his leg muscles, Xaphelm pulled himself back up onto the ledge. He then collapsed against the rocky floor, and stayed there for a while as he tried to build up his strength again.
He had made it.
Panting heavily, he rested for a period of time. He wasn't quite sure how long; only that by the time he had looked up, the sun, which had already been low on the horizon, was now only barely peaking up above the horizon. Soon, it would be gone, and the beautiful hues that covered the sky would slowly darken, until it was black.
It was a beautiful sunset. _Strikingly_beautiful. As he watched, he couldn't help but be enraptured by it.
He pulled his legs up, and tucked them beneath his body in a criss-cross pattern as he watched the sunset.
For a while, he stared, looking at the horizon, transfixed. His eyes began to grow heavy, and he became aware of just how tired he was.
No! I have to stay awake...
_ _
His mind was beginning to become cloudy, like it always did when he was about to fall asleep. Vaguely, he was aware of some sense of alarm from within him, the feeling that he was forgetting about something deeply important. But he couldn't figure out what it was.
Maybe I could take just a little nap...
_ _
He found his head drooping down, about to fall down against his furry chest. He tried to hold it up.
Just...
_ _
It flopped down again, and this time he let it stay there.
A little...
His eyes closed, and he tried briefly to fight it one last time, but he had already lost the battle.
Nap...
_ _
He was out.
* * *
Something was wrong.
That feeling woke Luna from her slumber, and she opened her eyes immediately.
It was nearly dark out now- she had gotten a good two hours of sleeping in- but she could still see light coming in. And something else, too. She wasn't able to put her finger on it right away, but...
There. Out on the ledge.
The moment she saw it, her eyes narrowed as she focused in on it. There was something out on the ledge in front of her cave, something that looked almost like a boulder at first. But that didn't make any sense; there hadn't been one there before.
Then, as the sleep drained from her eyes; she saw what it really was; a humanoid figure, slumped over against the backdrop of the sunset, next to a pile of rubble.
She almost immediately leapt to her feet, growling a soft yet clear warning. But for some reason, the human didn't stir.
Then it hit her; it had fallen asleep.
She would have laughed if she wasn't so angry.
Luna took a moment to taste the air, inhaling the scent of the human. What she smelled surprised her. It wasn't human at all; it seemed like a mix of dragon- though no species she had ever come across before- and something else, something she couldn't place her claws on.
Confused and curious, she started to ease herself across the cave, over to the entrance, and to the figure sitting there. As she got closer, she was able to make out more features. Whatever this creature was had fur, and lots of it, both grey and blue all over its body, along with yellowish-orange horns on top of its head. It definitely wasn't a human.
But, even despite that, she could make out the same makeshift pelts that the humans often wore.
What is this creature? She wondered.
Whatever it was, it was certainly something she had never seen before. Even though it was trespassing in her cave, and even though it could be dangerous, the thought excited her. She started moving faster, eager to see the creature in the full light of the remaining day.
She exited the cave, and paused, waiting for it to make a move. It didn't. It was truly asleep.
Or maybe it's dead.
But she didn't think that was the case. She would be able to smell it if it was. Death had a very unique smell, and even in the newly deceased, it was noticeable. She didn't smell it here, nor did she smell the scent of blood.
She moved further around him, and the light from what remained of the sun shined onto him. She was able to see him as well as she was able to.
She was right. She hadn't ever seen this before.
For all intents and purposes, it had the figure of a human. It had two legs, two arms, a head and a torso connecting it all. It was sitting in the same manner humans did, and it was slumped over asleep like humans tended to do if they were exhausted enough. It was even wearing the makeshift pelts that she had noticed before. But beyond that, it was very, very clearly not a human. It had ears that stuck up from its head, and an animal like snout. Its hands had claws, and its feet were more like paws. From what she could tell, it was also a male.
Luna had a myriad of questions, none of which she could find answers to. What was this creature? Why was he wearing clothes when he had fur? Why was he here? Where had he come from?
Could she eat it?
The last thought surprised her. She was still digesting her previous meal, and wasn't quite hungry. Yet, she loved eating living creatures, and although she wasn't yet hungry, she knew she would be soon. The curiosity to know what this tasted like was only natural.
Thoughts and predictions raced through her mind, as several potential tastes came to mind. Would he be rough and chewy, or soft and tender? Sweet, sour, or maybe even spicy? The fact that his scent reminded her of dragon suggested the latter.
She found herself moving closer and closer, her tongue sticking slowly out of her mouth, which had already begun to salivate. When she was close enough, she licked over the creature's head, and then paused to examine the taste.
Hmm... Not bad, she thought. It's no human, but it'll do.
She opened her mouth wide, and planted her jaw over his head, closing her lips around his neck.
Almost immediately, the creature sprung to action. Whether he had been secretly awake the whole time, or just a light, sleeper, Luna wasn't sure. But he was strong, that much she knew.
He immediately reached his arms up, and pushed against Luna's head. He was much stronger than a human, and he almost succeeded in escaping like that alone. Still, she might have succeeded in eating him, if it wasn't for his legs. He moved his legs up from the ground, swung them in an arc, and connected them with the Night Fury's skull.
Stars exploded across her vision, and black spots appeared along the sides. She fell to the right, and with a push from his hands, her jaws slid over his face, and then he was free.
Immediately, he sprung to his feet, even as Luna was still falling through the air. She sprawled onto her side, and he leapt up, and stood with one foot over her body.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
Luna sputtered, and moaned as her vision cleared itself. There was a dull ache in her head now.
The creature's foot pressed roughly against her ribs. "I asked who you were. Answer me!"
"Who... Who are you?" she demanded.
"You don't get to ask the questions when you just tried to eat me," the creature replied.
"You're trespassing," Luna replied. "This is my cave. I can do what I want with you."
The creature stared down at her, and Luna met his eyes. Then, the creature stepped off of her, and took a few more steps back.
"Let's start this over," he said. "I'm sorry I trespassed on your cave."
Luna slowly picked herself up, and turned to the creature. "I... I'm sorry I tried to eat you, I guess."
"You guess?"
"Well, you looked tasty..."
"Well... Was I?"
Luna swished her tail. "You were alright," she replied. "Not as tasty as humans, though."
The creature's eyes widened at the mention of Luna's favorite food. "Humans?" he asked. "You have humans in this world?"
Luna furrowed her face in confusion. What was this creature going on about? What did he mean by "this world"?
"Of course there are humans here," she said. "This is where they live. There's a whole village of them on the other side of this mountain."
"That must have been the smoke I saw earlier," he muttered to himself. He turned back to the side of the ledge, and looked out, as if trying to find them.
"What interests you in them?" she asked. "Are you looking for something to eat?"
Xaphelm turned back around, his eyes a little shocked. "Eat?" he said, sounded shocked by her words. "I'm a protector of the humans where I come from!"
Uh-oh, Luna thought. This might cause trouble.
"Do you... Eat humans here?" he asked.
"Well... Yes," she replied. She felt her belly gurgle again, and shifted nervously.
"Why?" he asked.
"Well, I have to eat," she replied. "And they're pretty good food."
"But you don't do it for sport," he assumed. "Right?"
"Well..." Luna said. "It is pretty fun."
Xaphelm hesitated, and then turned back around. "For our sake, I'll let it go," he said. "I don't know how things work in this world. And besides... I can't say I've never tried it before."
Luna wasn't sure, but she felt as if she were making some sort of connection with this creature. She wasn't sure what it was yet, and it could have just been because he seemed to need some sort of assistance, but... It was better than fighting someone that strong.
But still, something he said kept bugging her.
"You keep saying 'this world' like it's something different," she said.
The creature turned around and looked back at her. "What's your name?" he asked. "Mine's Xaphelm."
"Luna," she replied. "I'm Luna. I'm a Night Fury. Nice to meet you, Xaphelm."
"Nice to meet you too," he said. "Well, Luna... I'm not from this world."
"What do you mean by that?" she asked in confusion.
Xaphelm pointed to the heap of rubble next to where he had been sitting. "You see that?" he asked.
Luna looked at it and nodded.
"That used to be a machine that I used to fly," he explained. There was also a part of it that I was working on that would let me teleport to other parts of the universe. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work. It malfunctioned, and brought me to another one."
He gestured around, and then finished with, "This one."
Luna tried to wrap her head around what he was saying. She had very, very limited understanding of the terms he was spouting. Her mind had rarely ever left the land around her.
"What... Does that all mean?" he asked.
Xaphelm looked a little crestfallen. "You're not all that smart, are you?" he asked, with a hint of frustration in his voice.
Luna felt a spark of anger at that. "Hey," she said. "I'm not stupid just because I don't know how to teleport or anything like that. My species was made to fly and hunt, and that's all I've ever really done. That's all I need."
"Alright, I'm sorry," Xaphelm said. "You're not dumb, you're simple."
Luna was about to retort to that, but then realized that that was probably the best she was going to get. She closed her mouth.
"Anyway," Xaphelm replied. "You know the stars in the night sky?"
"Yeah...?" Luna asked. "What about them?"
"You know the sun?" Xaphelm asked.
"Yeah? When are you getting to the point?"
"Patience is a virtue, Luna," Xaphelm scolded. Her ear flaps flattened against her head indignantly, but she let him continue.
"Imagine that each star in the night sky is actually a sun that's so far away we can only see it as a star. Imagine that each of those suns has its own worlds orbiting around it, like this one orbits the sun. Imagine that this is only a tiny, tiny fraction of the amount of stars there actually are, and that they stretch out as far as you could possibly imagine, and then several time further than that. _That_is a universe.
"Then, imagine that there's even more than just that. That this is just one of countless universes, existing in their own little bubble, separate from each other, yet all clumped together as part of one infinite Multiverse.
"All of that is real. I was just trying to get around my own universe, but in my failure, I transported from one of those bubbles- my own- into another- yours. That is what I mean."
Luna tried to absorb all of the information he was giving to her, but found that she couldn't. It seemed impossible to her, and she found she didn't really believe him.
"Are you crazy?" she asked.
Xaphelm sighed, and looked down, crestfallen. "I don't know why I bothered," he said. "Clearly you aren't ready to hear all of this."
Once again, his words irritated her, but Luna bit back her tongue.
"What do you want here?" she asked.
"I was just hoping to spend the night in this cave," he said. "But if you're here, and don't want me, I'll go find somewhere else."
"Well... I suppose you could sleep out here," she said.
Xaphelm chuckled. "After you tried to eat me?" he asked. "I don't think so."
"I'm not even hungry," Luna replied. "I just wanted to see what you tasted like."
"That doesn't make me feel any safer," Xaphelm commented.
"Well... You have my word I won't," she said.
"Why do you want me to stay anyway?" he asked. "You don't even know me, and you even just called me crazy."
"Well... You seem interesting," Luna said. It seemed like a feeble excuse now that she was saying out loud, but it was really true. She hadn't yet decided if she liked or disliked this "Xaphelm", but she _did_find him interesting.
He gave her a funny look. "Interesting?" he asked.
Luna looked down. "Yeah," she said.
He stared at her for a moment. Then, he gave in.
"Alright," he said. "I'll sleep out here for tonight. But tomorrow, I'm going to the village."
"Alright," Luna said. "Good luck with that, though. I doubt they'll be very welcoming to you."
"What makes you say that?" Xaphelm asked.
"Humans around these parts... Aren't really nice to anything that isn't one of them," she explained.
"Well of course they wouldn't be friendly to you!" Xaphelm exclaimed. "You eat them!"
_ _
"But... You don't understand..."
"Don't worry about me," Xaphelm asserted. "I'll be fine."
"Well..." Luna tried to think of some further argument, but nothing was coming. She wouldn't be changing his mind. The only thing she could do was wish him luck.
"Alright," she said. "Good luck anyway. I still think you'll need it."
"I'll be fine," Xaphelm said. He smiled at her. "I just need some supplies, that's all.
Good luck with that, she thought. They'd never give him what he needed. But she smiled at him anyway.
"Anyway, I'm tired, and want to go back to sleep. Goodnight, and sleep well," she said.
With that, she turned and walked back into the cave, leaving him alone. She curled back up in her spot, and closed her eyes.
But she didn't go to sleep for a while. She wanted to make sure he wouldn't secretly attack her in her sleep first. She laid on her side, with one eye half open, watching the entrance to the cave. She watched as Xaphelm made himself a place to sleep, and then laid down in it. He stopped moving, and for all intents and purposes seemed asleep. But, just to be safe, she kept watching for about an hour, until she finally succumbed to sleep herself.
* * *
When she woke up the next morning, he was getting ready to leave. She could see him picking up the big metal pieces and slinging them under his arm.
Without thinking about it, she stood up, and walked to the entrance of the cave.
"Hey," she said. "Are you leaving already?"
"Yep," Xaphelm said. "Thanks for letting me stay, but... I really need to get back to my world as soon as possible."
"I understand," Luna said. It was kind of true. Kind of. "Good luck with the humans," she said.
Xaphelm turned to her and smiled. "Thanks," he said.
She held his gaze for a moment, and then looked away, unsure of how else to respond.
"Alright," Xaphelm said. "I'm off. See you around."
With that, he turned towards the side of the cave, walked towards it, and eased himself off of the outcrop. Then, he began to climb.
As Luna watched him go, her belly rumbled, and she realized it was empty again. The humans had been fully digested now. She was starting to get hungry again, and would be starving later.
She thought about going hunting, but then changed her mind. Xaphelm would have his run-in with the humans, which she was positive would go badly. He'd come back, and then either he'd leave, or she'd be able to persuade him and help her.
Either way, she'd be ready for a feast.
* * *
As Xaphelm continued his journey, he thought about the strange creature he had met.
She was a dragon of some sort; that much was obvious. But he had never seen a dragon that looked like her. She almost looked like a cross between a dragon and a cat, but she was still very much reptilian, as she had scales, claws, a forked tongue and everything.
Upon further reflection, he also determined that she had been intelligent. Not as advanced and knowledgeable as his race, but from what little he had seen of this world, he got the sense that none of it was. For a place like that, she had displayed quite a bit of intelligence, and he was starting to regret demeaning her like he had.
But, despite his curiosity about her species, and his admiration of her intellect, he wasn't entirely sure he liked her just yet, and he definitely_didn't trust her. She _had tried to eat her after all, and even though she had spared him that night, there was no telling if she would actually let him live again. Plus, she seemed to take too much pleasure in eating humans.
Of course, he had eaten them before too. Had even enjoyed it. But he only did it when he absolutely needed food, or if they had it coming. It didn't seem like Luna cared whether her prey deserved it or not. It just seemed like they were all just food for her, and Xaphelm didn't like that.
Then again... he thought. She did say they were pretty aggressive around here. Perhaps it's a response to that.
Maybe. Or maybe their aggressiveness was a response to dragons like her.
Xaphelm began to wonder just exactly what kind of hostile world he had stumbled into.
* * *
By the time noon came, he wasn't at the village yet, but he had made substantial progress. Now, he was just coming into sight of the settlement.
His first impression immediately confirmed his prior suspicions; this world was much less advanced than the one he had come from. The houses were small, and made of wood, and compared to the ones in his world, they looked fragile and unstable. There wasn't a single sign of electricity anywhere; even from his far away viewpoint, he could tell that. He suspected things would only look more and more crude as he got closer.
He continued his trek down the mountain, and the village disappeared behind trees or boulders a couple of times, before coming into view again. Eventually, he was able to see movement, and could just barely make out the shape of humans moving to and fro within the confines of the town.
Soon after that, he reached the bottom of the mountain, and his view was cut off entirely. He kept walking in the direction he knew the village to be in.
Along the way, his anticipation grew- and with it, his anxiety. What if Luna had been right? What if they'd be hostile? What if they outright attacked him on sight? He didn't want to have to take the materials he needed by force, and he didn't want to have to hurt or kill them to defend himself. But if Luna was right, it might come to that.
But even then, there was still a part of him that didn't fully believe that. Luna ate the humans here, and that was more than enough for them to retaliate violently. Luna could have interpreted that as a hatred for other species.
But what if they think you're the same?
The thought came to him suddenly, and it made that part of him hesitate once again.
That's... Also possible.
* * *
When he finally came to the village, he found it was much less protected than he had expected.
There weren't any walls, or gates, or anything. There were merely houses along the edge of a forest.
Aren't they worried about dangerous people or animals coming in? Xaphelm wondered.
What he saw next more or less answered his question. A large man came into view between two of the houses, and Xaphelm nearly gasped. He wasn't as tall as he was, but he came pretty close, and he was huge otherwise as well. His stature was broad and thick, and his arms rippled with muscles. To top it off, he wore a metal hat with two horns coming off, and carried a large axe in his hand.
Their technology may have been primitive, but these humans still looked a lot tougher than the ones back home. This one was huge, his arms coated with thick, pulsating muscles, and his body covered in armor that would weigh most humans where he came from down to the point of immobility. But this one wore them like it was nothing.
Still, he doubted this Viking would be any match for him.
He waited for the Viking to charge and attack, but he didn't. Instead, he tilted his head back, and let out a loud roaring sound.
Well... Okay then, Xaphelm thought.
Then, behind him, he saw five more humans join him, all nearly just as big and well equipped as him. They all lined up behind him in a formation, and held their weapons to the ready, preparing to attack.
Ahah, he thought. Reinforcements... Still, this shouldn't be too difficult.
_ _
He dropped the load in his arms, and then readied himself, and waited for them to attack.
He wasn't kept waiting for long. Soon, they started to charge, all holding their weapons in front of them, roaring a battle cry. Xaphelm was ready for them. As they reached him, he held up his arm, and blocked their leader's blow, then punched him in the gut and sent him flying through the air, landing in a heap far away.
The others hesitated for a moment, then continued their attack. However, it was this hesitation that spelled their downfall. With one sweep of his arm, he knocked every single weapon out of their hands, before sweeping one leg around, and sending them all flying.
As they all crashed to the ground, he heard them moaning, and knew they wouldn't be getting back up. He took a step forward, and then, his eyes were drawn to two newcomers. Over by the heap that was once the leader of the attacker- their chief, perhaps- were too women. They knelt over his body in concern, and even from this distance, Xaphelm could see their huge, swollen pregnant bellies.
His stomach growled looking at them. Then, he remembered what had just happened, and snapped back to reality.
Part of him considered storming further into the village, raiding their supplies, and taking what he needed. They would hardly be able to stop him, after all. But then, he had another idea; a better one.
If he did that, he might anger them, and cause them to go after Luna. He didn't want to inconvenience her like that; not after she had so kindly let him stay the night. But if he scared them... They'd never bother another dragon again, and he'd still get what he wanted.
_Hmmm... Perhaps I should repay Luna for her kindness,_he thought.
With that decided, he turned around, and picked up his cargo. Then, he left the village, before they could attack him again.
* * *
He spent the rest of the day returning to Luna's lair. Then, as the sun was just going down, he arrived.
"Luna?" he called.
He heard stirring within the cave. "Xaphelm?" she asked.
He waited a moment, and then she emerged, her large, graceful form appearing in what little daylight remained in the air.
"Back so soon?" she asked, sitting down on her hind legs.
"Yes," he replied. "And I have a proposal I'd like to make."
Her head tilted in curiosity. "Oh?" she asked.
Xaphelm grinned, and then leaned forward, quietly telling her his plan. As he told it, her eyes lit up more and more, and she started nodding.
When he was done speaking, she immediately replied, "Yes. Let's do it."
Xaphelm smiled.
* * *
The next morning, the two left the cave, flying on Luna's back.
At first, Xaphelm had found it weird flying on something that wasn't his own gliders. He had never flown on top of another living creature before. But he was quickly able to get used to it.
The trip to the village was so much easier this way. Luna crossed the distance in twenty minutes, when it had taken him several hours. He was glad to have her on his side.
When they reached the village, they didn't immediately fly in. Instead, they circled around it, looking for where the chief would most likely be housed.
"What about that huge building in the center?" Luna asked.
Xaphelm squinted, and caught sight of what she meant. "No," he replied. "I don't think that's it."
"Why not?" Luna asked. "It seems important."
"It doesn't look like a human would live there," Xaphelm replied. "It looks like where they'd gather but not live. Trust me; I know humans well."
"Well, if you say so..."
Xaphelm squinted harder, and tried to find another possibility. His eyes eventually locked onto a peculiar house; one that was bigger and more ornate than the others, but still small enough to be a regular household.
"Let's try that one," he suggested, pointing it out to her.
"If you say so," Luna replied. With that, she broke into a dove.
As they moved down towards the village, movement caught Xaphelm's eye. Human warriors were bustling throughout the village. Clearly they had seen their approach, and were moving to defend their home.
Then, suddenly, he caught sight of a projectile flying towards them.
"Luna!" he exclaimed. "Watch out!"
The Night Fury rolled to the left, and the projectile zoomed by. Xaphelm saw that it was an arrow. Such a weak weapon couldn't hurt him, but Luna on the other hand... He wasn't sure.
"Phew," she said. "That was close. I hate those things."
That answers that question, Xaphelm thought. He looked back down again, keeping watch for any more. Suddenly, he saw a whole line of them, coming from the outskirts of the city, heading towards them.
"More coming!" he shouted.
"Ugh!" Luna grunted. She looked around, and maneuvered to avoid them, rolling left, right, jerking up and down, even flipping over. Xaphelm held on for dear life.
When the barrage had finally passed, Luna righted herself in the air, and continued her descent. They were almost on the ground now, and Xaphelm doubted the humans would have time to fire again before they touched down.
Besides, they had other problems. Waiting for them on the ground was a squad of six humans.
"Luna..." he began.
"I see them," she replied.
"Watch out," he replied. "I could take them on, but I don't know about you."
"I've fought off worse."
Xaphelm relaxed a bit in relief.
Luna landed on a clear patch of land nearby the humans, and Xaphelm immediately slipped off her back. The two of them whirled to face the oncoming humans.
The six of them ran, three falling behind to hold up the back. When they reached their invaders, the battle was short lived. Xaphelm lashed out, striking as hard as he could, and Luna did the same, adding her thick, agile tail to the mix. Between the two of them, the opposing humans were dispatched more than easily.
"These humans look tough," Xaphelm said, as he stepped over one of their fallen bodies. "But they're weak."
"It may seem that way," Luna replied. "And for the most part that's true. But try fighting a bunch of them off at once, all alone."
"I have," Xaphelm replied. "It was easy."
Luna looked at him. "Well, aren't you cocky. Don't let it get to your head. It'll be the end of you here."
"I doubt that," Xaphelm replied. "But okay."
Luna sighed, and rolled her eyes. Then she followed him to the front door of the dwelling.
Xaphelm tried the knob, and found it locked. Without further hesitation, he kicked it down. The wooded fixture ripped off of its hinges and went flying across the room inside, before crashing down in the middle of the room.
Quickly, he stepped through the threshold. Behind him, Luna got to work squeezing her way through.
As he waited, he surveyed the room, and saw nobody in it. No matter; the house was big, and whoever lived here was probably upstairs. Walking around, he found the staircase, and turned around, waiting for Luna.
As he watched the dragon squeeze her hind legs through the door, he heard the staircase creep above him. Someone was trying to sneak up on him
Whirling around, he threw a punch behind him, and sent an armed assailant flying back up the stairs. He crashed to a halt at the top, and fell into a still heap.
He heard Luna walk up behind him. Without turning, he said, "Yep! They're up here!"
Slowly, he started ascending the stairs. When he was about to reach the top, he turned back around and watched as Luna tried to climb up after him. Once again, she had to squeeze her way up.
"Alright," he said. "I'll go ahead and clear it out."
"Got it," Luna said, her words half a grunt of exertion.
As Xaphelm ascended the rest of the stairs, he could hear humans shuffling their weight up ahead. It sounded like whoever was up here was nervous.
As he rounded the top of the stairwell, he stopped, and stared at the sight in front of him.
The chief was here, alright. He recognized him from his prior trip; battered, bruised and still unconscious from their fight. He was lying in a bed, surrounded by people, and it was these people that surprised him.
They were six women, all slender and scantily clad, with their large, eight-to-nine-month pregnant bellies standing naked at attention. All six of them surrounded his bed, and all six of them were staring at him in fear, some with their hands cradling their bellies, others with their hands on their chief protectively.
_This is even better than I thought it would be!_He thought, excitedly.
As Luna slowly made her way up the stairs and into sight, the looks on the faces of the women grew even more terrified. Some of them even groaned in pure terror.
Smiling, Xaphelm stepped forward. "Ladies," he greeted. "I see you've been expecting me."
None of them replied. They simply backed up in terror.
"Now, now," Xaphelm said, trying his best to sound soothing. "I'm not going to hurt you! Not yet, anyway." His grin became devious, and he turned to look at Luna, making her slow, awkward way up the stairs. "Not until she gets up here."
As he turned around, he heard a motion behind him, and the sound of someone running. He heard a woman's scream of anger, and whirled around, catching one of the woman's hands as it arced through the air, knife in hand.
Her blow stopped as soon as he touched her, his strength far outweighing hers. She looked into his eyes, pure terror lurking beneath her gaze. Chuckling, he twisted her hand, until she dropped the knife.
Then, he lifted his other paw, and placed it on her swollen, bare belly. He moved it around her swollen dome, feeling the smooth skin pulled taut over it, the bump of her small, perky belly button, and the soft moving and kicking of the baby inside.
"Mmmm..." he said. "I've always loved pregnant women... So beautiful." He looked between her, the other women, and the chief. "If I had to guess, I'd say you are all his wives?"
He waited for them to respond. When they picked up on this, they all nodded nervously.
"Yes, I thought so. What a lucky man," He complimented. He turned back to the woman whose belly he was rubbing. "You all look so pretty, and so..." He licked his lips. "Delicious."
Somehow, the woman's face grew even more frightened at that. She tried to pull away, yanking her arm, but Xaphelm was too strong. He moved his hand, and wrapped it around her back, pulling her close to him, her belly pushing up against his fur. Then, he opened his mouth wide, and shoved her head inside of his maw.
The other women in the room screamed in horror at the sight. The woman in his hand kicked, punched and pushed, trying desperately to get away. Xaphelm, on, the other hand, wanted the exact opposite. His was hungry; his belly rumbled, and it wanted this delicious pregnant woman inside of it.
And delicious she was. As he licked over her face, her flavor seeped onto his tongue, smooth, sweet and tender with the taste of motherhood. That was just her face; he could only imagine how good her belly would taste.
Not wanting to waste too much time on his first meal, he pulled her head to the back of his throat and swallowed. Her head passed into his throat, creating a bulge in the fur and flesh. He stretched his lips around her shoulders, fitting those inside next. Then, after a few more licks, those went down his gullet as well.
Her breasts passed into his mouth. He licked over them, tasting their milky, spongy flavor. Her nipples were swollen and leaking, and that only added to it. Even through her (admittedly thin) clothing, he could still taste it.
Then, he moved onto the true prize; her belly.
His lips moved up against the base of it, and slowly, he began to move his tongue over it, tasting it. It was beyond delicious, it was divine.
_ _
Slowly, he eased his lips over the bump, taking more and more of the delicious, swollen flesh inside. He could feel the baby kicking, pushing the skin onto his taste buds, and moving around the flavor even more.
Poor thing, Xaphelm thought. Will never even be born.
_ _
Finally, he reached the crest of her massive tummy. As he started to work his way down the other side, he let his cheeks and jaws expanding, aiming to fit the entire thing in his mouth at once. As his lips circled around her waist, he stopped.
Here, he paused, aiming to taste all of the beautiful, delicious belly at once. He ran his tongue over the soft, smoot, taut skin, feeling her baby kick, and her body squirm. Her legs kicked outside of his mouth, uselessly. Then, when he was done with her, he placed his hands on her butt and pushed her inside.
With a few gulps, her belly was sent down, towards his, to be mercilessly digested.
Xaphelm gave her ass a few licks, and then sent those down as well. Then, he slurped up her legs. These went quickly, and soon, her feet passed between his lips. Then, with one last swallow, she was gone.
He stepped back, stumbling with his new weight, and laid a hand on his now enormous gut. The pregnant woman was completely packed inside, with what little remained of her in his throat sliding down after the rest of her. He let out a belch, and licked his lips, moaning in satisfaction as the woman began to struggle within him.
"Oh, yes, you pregnant woman are so wonderful." His eyes refocused on the world around him, and he looked over to the other five women, who were now huddled in the corner, terrified.
Xaphelm turned around, gut swinging with his movement, and saw that Luna was almost free from the stairwell. With one more push, she pulled her haunches out into the room, and stepped forward.
"Enjoying your meal?" she asked.
Xaphelm nodded. "You bet," he said, giving his belly a pat. "There's plenty more, if you'd like to have some."
Luna chuckled, and looked at the women, licking her lips. "Don't mind if I do," she replied.
As the Night Fury stepped forward, crossing the room, one of the other women took a step forward to meet her.
"Please, stop this!" she begged. "We're people, not food!"
"Yes, that's very nice," Xaphelm replied, patting his squirming gut again. "But there's one thing you've forgotten to take into account... Both of the things you've said are true! People are food!"
"But... Why?" she asked, her face growing more horrified as she started to back up again. "We're pregnant for Odin's sake!"
"Yes, yes... That's really quite unfortunate," Xaphelm said, not sounding sorry about it at all. "But you see, that just means you're even tastier! And there's even more meat to digest! Now, Luna, would you like to have some pregnant woman to digest?"
Luna licked her lips. "Yes," she said.
"Good, I'm glad to hear it," he said. "Now... Dig in."
With that, Luna jumped forward, straight towards the woman who had confronted them. The woman tried to turn and flee, but Luna was faster. She knocked her over, and the woman fell, landing directly on her belly. The other women winced, and shrieked.
Luna pinned her down with a paw, and lowered her snout to her back. She ran it along the soft flesh, sniffing it in, and giving it a quick lick here and there. Then, when she reached her head, she opened her mouth, and took the woman's head inside.
Like Xaphelm, she didn't spend much time savoring this meal. She licked over her head a few times, and then tilted her own maw back and swallowed. She lifted her paws off of the woman's back as she started to drag her upwards, and guide her down her throat.
The woman kicked and struggled, and tried to punch out at the beast devouring her. Her blows bounced off Luna's scales, not really doing any damage.
Luna took another swallow, and took the woman's breasts into her mouth. Then, with another gulp, she started to bring her belly in between her jaws.
Here, her legs began to lift off of the ground, and dangle in the air. In a desperate bid to help, another one of the women ran forward, and grabbed her legs, trying to pull.
Not phased in the slightest, Luna only started to swallow quicker. Despite her best efforts, the new helper could do nothing, and as Luna gulped down the woman's bulging belly, she realized too late that she too was being dragged inside of the dragon's maw.
She tried to pull away then, but then found Xaphelm directly behind her. He held onto her, wrapping his arms around her belly, and lifted her up, depositing her straight into Luna's mouth.
As Luna was finishing her first meal, the second woman's head began to slide in after her, and she started to swallow her as well. The screaming, pleading woman was taken into her throat, and started bulging out the side.
Now that she was trapped, the woman had nowhere to go. She tried to kick, and punch, but like her friend before her, she was absolutely helpless. Realizing this, Xaphelm let go, and let Luna finish her double meal.
He turned back to the other women, cowering in the corner, now only three left in number. Licking his lips, he grabbed the nearest one, and began the second course of his meal.
Like all the others before her, this woman screamed, and tried to escape. She reached out for her friends, her eyes begging for help, but knowing what had happened to the previous women, they refused her. They stood and stared, horrified, as their friend's head disappeared into Xaphelm's maw.
He decided to take more time with this one. As her head soaked in his saliva, he ran his tongue over her flesh, tasting her delicious flavor. He was like this for a few moments, before he started to swallow once again.
Luna, on the other hand, had now made it onto her meal's belly. Like Xaphelm before her, she stopped to pay extra attention to this part of her meal, as it was the tastiest part of her whole body. She licked over the swell, letting its flavor wash over her, before finally moving on. With one gulp, she took the belly into her throat, and it bulged out her gullet as it descended to join the rest of the mother-to-be- and her companion- in her gut.
Then, she slurped up the woman's legs, licking over the meaty thighs as they disappeared within her. Once they were all gone, she looked back at the remaining two women, and decided to partake in her final course of that day.
As Luna approached, one of them tried to make a run for it. She darted forward, pushing past Xaphelm and Luna, and heading for the stairs. Luna was much faster than her, however, and with a swift sweep of her tail, she knocked her over, and pounced on top of her, quickly shoving her into her maw.
Xaphelm had, by this point, reached his meal's swollen tummy, and placed both of his hands under the bare sphere, pushing upwards to guide it into his mouth. His tongue welcomed it into his maw, licking over it, tasting every inch, licking over her taut skin and belly button, and feeling the baby inside kick and move.
As his lips slid over the last of the swell, and onto her waist, he tilted his head back even further and began to swallow. The bulge moved from his jaws into his throat, and then further down, into his already huge belly. He slurped up her legs, seemingly with ease, and soon, even her feet were disappearing. His belly was massive- even bigger than he was- yet he still seemed capable of moving, and he still was hungry for one last morsel.
He eyed the final woman, cowering terrified in the corner, and licked his lips.
"Please... No!" she begged.
Without a word, Xaphelm began to walk forward, rubbing his belly with every step, showing her where she was going to be soon enough.
"No..." she begged again, but in her voice, Xaphelm could tell she had given up.
With that, he began the final course of his meal.
* * *
After both predators had finished their meals, they stood in the room, their bellies hanging out before them, massive, bulging, and wriggling as their meals squirmed for escape.
Together, the two of them stood over the bed of the chief, waiting for him to awaken. Once he did, he immediately fixed his eyes upon the two predators, their massive bellies letting out a symphony of gurgling, churning noises, along with the extremely muffled cries of terror and pain of his pregnant wives inside.
He looked upon them in terror, opening his mouth to speak, but unable to. Xaphelm spoke instead.
"See this?" he said, patting his belly. "You're looking at your wives. They were delicious, and now, they're being broken down, and added to our bodies."
The man's face looked like it was turning a little green. Xaphelm smiled, and continued.
"If you don't want more of your people to join them, you'll do what I ask."
Breathlessly, the man nodded.
"Good," Xaphelm said.
From there, he relayed all of the materials he needed to the man. He instructed him to have them brought to the base of the mountain by the next evening, or they would return.
With that, he turned around, and motioned for Luna to follow him. The Night Fury dragoness slowly rose to her feet, and followed behind, her claws clacking against the ground as she moved. Both of their bellies swayed, and they could just barely hear the sound of all the people they had devoured shouting and screaming inside of them, only to be overpowered by the increasingly loud sounds of digestion.
As they reached the other side of the room, Xaphelm stopped, and turned to Luna. "Think you can still fly us out of here with all of this weight?" he asked.
"I don't know... I'll have to try, though," she said. She knelt down on her knees, crouching as much as she could, pressing her belly into the ground until the resistance was too much. The occupants of her gut were clearly unhappy, as they started shouting and struggling even more as their surroundings became more cramped.
"Alright," she said. "Hop on, and let's try this."
Xaphelm waddled over, and tried climbing on top of her. He soon realized it was proving to be much more difficult this time around. Her back was much more elevated, and his own massive gut was making it harder for him to move as well.
Eventually, with a lot of squishing in on the occupants of both of their stomachs, he was able to climb on. Then, they both let their guts hang loose again, and Luna looked to the ceiling and shot a fireball, blowing it open. With that, she took off.
At first, Xaphelm was sure she wouldn't make it. Even as she beat her wings as hard as she could, she still couldn't make it more than a foot off of the ground. She hovered there, slowly getting lower, until, out of seemingly nowhere, she found her strength. She pounded harder than ever before, and then rose into the air.
"Alright," Xaphelm said. "Take it easy, but... Get us back to the mountain."
"You're really heavy, you know that?" Luna replied.
Xaphelm chuckled sheepishly. "Sorry about that."
"It's alright. But if I break my back before we get to the cave, you owe me one."
"Got it," Xaphelm replied. He crossed his fingers, and hoped they'd make it back in one piece.
* * *
The flight was tough on Luna, but she made it eventually.
By the time they reached the cave, she was panting heavily, and her movements were erratic. The dragoness was convinced she wouldn't be able to make the rest of the journey. Her bones ached, and her wings felt like they were going to tear off of her body. The wriggling in her belly, which usually provided her with far more pleasure than discomfort, was now a nightmare, throwing her off balance every time she thought she had it.
Finally, the cave came into sight, and she felt a twinge of relief. But it wasn't until she came crashing to a halt that she finally let herself feel it.
Admittedly, her landing was sloppy. She tried to land on her claws, but she was dropping too fast, and her belly was too big. It hit the ground before she did, and she went skidding across the rocks, crushing down onto it- much to the dismay of the humans inside.
Xaphelm was barely able to hold on. He grabbed her ear flaps instinctively, almost pulling them off. She yelped in pain and surprise, and had to suppress her desire to toss him off.
But then... It was over. And relief spread through her.
But also pain.
"Ugh..." she moaned. "That was rough... Sorry."
"It's... okay," Xaphelm said, slowly sliding off of her back. He wobbled on his feet, his heavy gut weighing him down and threatening to topple him over. He was just barely able to keep his footing.
"I think that went well," he said.
"You think they're going to bring the stuff you need?" Luna asked.
"I think so," Xaphelm replied. "Or else more of them will end up in here." He patted his gut, which gave a gurgle and a twitch as his meals reacted to his touch.
"What if they attack us?" Luna asked. "You did eat the chief's wife, after all. The humans around here can get pretty violent with retribution."
"If they come after us," Xaphelm said, "We'll fly away. We'll find somewhere else to stay, and then, when we're hungry again... We'll go back for seconds."
Luna looked at him, and grinned. "I like the way you think," she complimented.
Xaphelm smiled back, and then turned to her. He walked over to her squished out belly, and laid a hand on it once again. This time, he felt a squishing from inside, as the humans were already beginning to soften. "I like the way you look, with such a full belly."
Luna crooned in amusement. "Oh? Just yesterday you were scolding me for eating people."
"I see that I was wrong now," Xaphelm said. "You can eat as many humans as you like."
"Well, I have to digest these ones first," Luna stated. "But... Maybe you can help me with that."
Xaphelm felt another familiar twinge between his legs, and looked over to the Night Fury's face. She looked at him with a glint in her eyes that he had seen before- and loved every time.
Before he could do anything, her paw lifted into the air and rested on his belly. She began to circle it around, feeling the softening bodies of the humans inside.
"Do you... Do you want to...?" Xaphelm breathed.
"Yes," Luna replied. She lowered her paw down to his pants, and started to rub it lightly, feeling his half-erect member and stimulating it even further.
As his dick started to rise, Xaphelm moaned lightly, and felt his pants growing tighter as his member tented out.
Without any further hesitation, Xaphelm moved forward, brushing her paw out of the way, and pressed his lips against her own, scaly ones. The fact that she'd probably be very messy at kissing didn't cross his mind; neither did the fact that she was a different species. He wanted her, then and there.
She kissed him back, and her scaly lips met his furry ones. He was surprised to find that she was good at it. As he broke the kiss, he looked at her, brow furrowed in confusion.
"You're surprisingly good at that," he complimented.
"Thank you," she replied. "I've had some practice on humans."
"So you mate with them, then eat them?" Xaphelm asked. "You're a naughty girl."
She chuckled, and nodded. "Why don't we go inside the cave, where it's a little more... private."
Xaphelm glanced into the cave, then turned back to her and nodded. "Absolutely," he agreed.
With some effort, Luna was able to push herself back onto her feet. Her belly sagged back down beneath her, considerably softer and squishier than before- but still bulging out with the weakening struggles of the humans inside. The sight of it made Xaphelm grow even harder.
She began to waddle into the cave, and Xaphelm followed, his own belly swaying as he walked. They both entered the cool darkness of the cave, and exited from the sight of the world to have their fun in private.
Luna walked to the back of the cave, where she turned to wait for Xaphelm. The Lupis Draconi approached her, and reached out a hand, cupping her cheek in his palm. "You're a beautiful dragoness," he complimented. "Has anyone ever told you that?"
"I've heard it before," she admitted. "But thanks."
Xaphelm smiled, and then leaned in, closing his eyes as their lips met. His fur brushed against her scales once again, and this time, they stayed there.
The two kissed passionately, and soon, Xaphelm felt her tongue probing against his lips, asking for entrance into his mouth. He opened his mouth and granted it, letting her large forked tongue slip inside and tangle with his. Their tongues danced around each other, twirling and exploring each other's mouths.
As he kissed her, he slowly worked both of his hands down her body, feeling her shoulders and wing muscles, her chest, and eventually making his way to her big beautiful belly. He stroked it with his right hand, feeling the gurgling and churning gut work away at the struggling, panicking humans inside.
Her own paws were working their way over his body, moving down and rubbing at his pants. With his free hand, he helped her to pull them down, and his member sprung out to attention.
At that, she broke the kiss, and backed up, before looking down at his tool. "Well," she said. "You're certainly well endowed."
"Thanks," Xaphelm said sheepishly.
She lowered her head until it was level with his cock. Then, she stuck out her tongue and gave it a brief lick. Xaphelm, only half expecting this treatment, threw his head back as the pleasure threatened to overwhelm him, and he let out a moan.
"You like that?" Luna asked.
"Yes..."
"Well... If you think that feels good... Wait until you get inside of me."
Her words made his cock jump even more, and as he felt movement, he opened his eyes, and saw her turning around. She moved until her rump and tail were facing him, and then knelt down on the ground, raising her haunches and pulling her tail back to reveal her aroused sex. It was swollen and moist, and ready for his entrance.
"Oh my..." he gasped.
"Like what you see?"
"Yes..."
He stared at her wonderful, inviting dragonhood for a moment, then tore his gaze away to take care of his clothes. Placing a hand on his squirming, gurgling gut to steady himself, he slowly worked off his pants. Then, he pulled his shirt over his head, and dropped it to the ground next to him.
"Ready?" Luna asked playfully.
"You bet," Xaphelm replied. He walked up behind her, and stood directly behind her moist entrance. Placing a hand on her rump, and using the other to hold up her tail, he positioned his stiff member until the head was lightly poking against the slit. Then, he started pushing in.
"Oh god..." he moaned.
The feeling of being inside of her was even better than he had imagined. He had had sex with a few different types of species before, but none of them had felt quite like this. It was difficult to describe how she felt inside... A bit more loose than, say, a human, but more textured as well, and just as warm and soft. Needless to say, Xaphelm loved it. He slid his cock in all the way, moaning as he sunk deeper, and enjoying it even more as he heard Luna reciprocate.
"Oh, yes..." she moaned. "Deeper..."
"Happy to oblige..." he replied. With one more gentle thrust, he fully hilted himself, and his furry crotch touched against her scaly rump, and his heavy full gut rested on top of her back and tail. "Oh... You feel amazing, Luna," he commented.
"You... Too," she replied, gasping through her pleasure.
Xaphelm took a moment to rest, allowing himself to take in the moment of being inside such a beautiful creature in such an intimate way. Then, he felt the pleasure starting to dull, and decided it was time to get started.
He slowly pulled himself back out, stopping when he was about halfway. He felt another kick from within his belly, and then he thrusted himself back in.
From here on out, he picked up a rhythm, thrusting and pulling, and humping himself further into her sex. Luna gradually started to match his rhythms, pushing back against his thrusts and allowing him as deep as he could possibly go.
The more and the harder they thrusted, the more pleasure they both felt, and the more their bellies sloshed and squirmed. The humans trapped within were barely conscious anymore, but this added to their misery, and any bearings they had left were gone as they were tossed and thrown about. The two creatures' stomach acids splashed over them, coating them further in their corrosive substance.
Soon, Xaphelm and Luna were completely lost to all external sense; they were aware of only each other, the humans within them, and the pleasure their lovemaking gave them.
Xaphelm grunted and moaned, and continued pounding into his reptilian lover harder and harder. Soon, he felt a pressure rising within him, and knew his climax was coming.
With one final thrust, he plunged as deep as he could, and then let out a loud moan as he spurted his seed within her. Her walls clenched around him, spilling her juices into his fur and coaxing all of his spunk out of him. Together, they rode their climax, roaring into the air.
Then, it was over.
He sighed in contentment, and then slowly pulled himself out, sighing at the last bit of friction that came with it. "Ahh... That was wonderful," he said.
"Yes..." Luna agreed.
He backed away from her body, and his belly sagged down, no longer moving. The humans inside both of their bellies were now dead, and their guts gurgled and glorped as they worked extra hard to churn them up.
"Do you want to spend the night again?" Luna offered.
"Of course," Xaphelm replied. "How else am I going to sleep all of this human meat off?"
She murred affectionately. "Well, I'm glad to have you."
* * *
The next day, Xaphelm and Luna woke up from where they had curled up together on the other side of her cave. As Xaphelm stretched his limbs, he noticed that his belly was considerably smaller. He looked over to the dragoness, and saw that hers was as well.
Her icy blue eyes met him, and they both smiled at each other. Then, Xaphelm stood up.
"Good morning, Luna," he greeted.
"Good morning," she greeted. "Are you going to leave?"
Xaphelm nodded. "I have to go back," he said.
"Oh..." She stared off into the distance for a while, before coming back and asking, "Will you ever be back?"
"Well... I can certainly try," Xaphelm said. "I can't promise anything, but... I had a lot of fun with you."
"I'm glad... You were great last night," She said with a wink.
"You were too." Xaphelm smiled.
* * *
Xaphelm waited around for a few more hours, allowing his belly to shrink further as the humans inside were digested. Then, when he decided it was small enough, and the time he had allotted the humans had passed, he and Luna set out to reclaim his supplies.
The humans had held up their end of the bargain Xaphelm had forced upon them. When they reached the bottom of the mountain, they found a pile of supplies, along with Xaphelm's broken wings. For the next couple of days, he worked on repairing them.
When he was finally done, he said his goodbyes to Luna, and then returned home. To his delight, his device worked. But though he was happy to return home, he knew he would never truly forget his encounter with the Night Fury.
