Chapter 4

Stand by me.

Once our dream kiss was broken and we were left staring into each other's eyes, I led Luis by his paw towards the front door. I slid my key into the lock and twisted is, the old-school mechanism clunking as it rolls back. We head inside, leaving the door open to let the warm summer air flow through the house.

The front door leads into the wooden kitchen, a wide window letting light flood into the room, bouncing off all surfaces. The maturing wooden table sits characteristically underneath a spice and utensil rack, a bench on the side of the wall and chairs surrounding the other edges. A small door leads to a pantry, kept cool by the stone walls and flooring, lit by a slim window.

I slip my jacket off and hang it on the hooks, which are drilled into back of the pantry door. After letting my jacket rest on the metal hooks, I turn to face the bundle of fluff with a smile, helping him slip his jacket from his arms. After his and my jacket were side by side, my arms slowly slid around his waist and his up my back. I slowly lower my snout to his as he reaches up to mine, our lips touching softly.

What seemed to last forever, lasted only a few seconds. His leg curled around my leg, my paws wrapped around his waist, pulling his girly body up against mine. "Welcome home, darling." I smile widely with him. I'd waited years to say those words to him.

Then, with our paws and tails intertwined, I led us round the house, giving the grand tour. We start in the lounge, the cream carpet beneath our feet, the emptied fireplace replaced with an array of candles. A glass book cabinet is set into the wall, showing off various titles, from scientific biographies to ludicrous fiction. The bay window lets in the sight of the garden, along with buckets and buckets of light.

Upstairs, the master bedroom takes up the same space, plenty of room around the bed, wardrobes lining the far wall, a white dresser littered with neatly organised toiletries and fragrances. A slightly smaller, lead-lined window allows a slightly more selective view of the garden. Ivy covers the corners of the glass, secluding the window away.

The bathroom is cut off from the world by a single wooden door, the contents of the room are cozy and compact, following a traditional English style. A polished mirror hangs on the wall, lit up by a single spotlight, reflecting a happy couple touring a house.

Finally, the study. Here, a small, cozy gaming setup sits in the corner of the room, next to a corner window which looks out at the garden from the other side. A few beanbags sit over on the other side of the room, by a fireplace.

We head back downstairs and visit the cellar briefly. A large work table sits in the middle of the cold room, a few cabinets around the edges, the room lit by individual lights on the wall.

Finally, we end up laid on the couch. My feet up at the other end of the couch with my fluffy lover laid on top of me. My paws rest just above his tail, his arms around my neck, our noses touching.
