The Trip
"The first response is the worst response"
Day, 1, 2016, 19:00, London, England
Today is the first day for the US to deploy on the North East coast of London. The previous month has been bombarded with high scale terrorist attacks all across the globe. London seemed to be getting the most attacks, so the United States sent multiple war ships and over 40,000 troops to back the allied countries. This is where my story kicks off.
Sgt. Jack "Denver" Hineman, 22:00, Ground Zero
The air hitting the side of the AC-130 aircraft made the interior feel like an ice box, enough to make the tension worse between unit 104, Rangers division, who at he time were the first troops flying to the drop zone or as we called it, Ground Zero. There are about 10 team members on the plane, all of which are extremely nervous. Pvt. Dean turned to me and asked, " what's it like,.. I mean shooting someone?" I morally reply, " I don't think about what I feel when I shoot a target, all I think is, I must neutralize the target." He replies, " permission to speak?"
"permission granted Pvt."
" Do you have sympathy for any one you kill?"
I turned to address the question, but was suddenly interrupted by a sudden impact on the planes hull, "Shit!" one of the pilots screamed. " What's going on up there?" I yelled to the pilots. They replied, " we are taking heavy anti aircraft fire from the embassy building, you guys have to jump now to hit the chute zone!" I turned to my team, " we need to be boots on the ground in 5!" "hook up and ready up on my queue!" ... "103 up!" ... "104 up!" ... "105 up..." suddenly the rear hatch is blown open, pulling very member of unit 104, out and falling through the heavy artillery fire. I was at this time impacted by an unknown force on my helmet, thus nocking me unconscious... I have no idea how my chute pulled and saved my unresponsive body from plummeting into the water to my death...
