Our story, of how humanity was enslaved, an empire crumbled, and a single man tempted the Queen of the Dragon race, starts in the front of the battlefield, where the encampment of the Vetreyinski Army, a Russian empire that had their assault mounting to take the dragons capital, Annakijed. Their General, Vetreyinski II, and his group of battle-hardened commanders prepare their entire army for a full scale siege.

But our story doesn't start there, it starts deep inside the camp of Vetreyinski's war party, in a small tent, made for the first Lancer brigade, and with a man named Alexander Petero. A normal man trying to take care of his nephews, and joined Vetre's cause looking for a stable income of coin to feed his nephews and himself. He lay peacefully sleeping, and his dreams chased after him with sweet thoughts of finding his true love. But his dreams escalated to nightmares most times, as the womanly figure often turned into a towering spire, more than double his height, with fangs, claws, and leathery wings that would scare any man or beast.

Alexander woke up in a cold sweat, the same dream of finding his love, quickly turning into a hellish nightmare. Every time, the beautiful figure would turn into something out of the Devil's closet. He clutched his chest, trying to calm his rapid heart, and stood up, rubbing his temple and controlling his breath. Alexanders friend, Simon, noticed his panic, and walked over to his friend.

"Alex, are you alright priyatel?"

"Y-yeah, its just the dream again.... I am fine Simon."

"I hope that is true, tovarishch, the General wants everyone to be their best today."

Simon walked back to his own bunk and begun to put on his chain mail plate with the Vetreyinski banner on it. Alexander only stood for a moment or two before he begun to get his own armor on. The fine chain mail came directly from the empires capital, Krepost'. As he finished putting his armor on, he saw the painted picture of his nephews, and put it in his armors sleeve. He grabbed his Lance and looked at the flag posted on it, tightly holding the banner and reminding him of who he is fighting for, and against.

Simon and Alexander walked out of their tent and looked around, spotting the enormous spiked walls and the immense garrisons covering the gates. Both of the men walked towards the smithing shop and stopped as the smith himself came out and ushered them out, seemingly panicking. Alexander and Simon saw the assistant packing up items and putting them onto a cart. They both seem in a serious rush to leave, but as Alexander looks around, he sees nothing that could cause panic.

"Kuznets, why are you leaving so soon? The siege is going to be any hour now!"

"Duraki! You and your army are going to die! I was forced here, protiv moyey voli, I am leaving now! Good luck fighting against dragons with only swords and pikes!"

The assistant had already snapped the reigns and the carriage was off, along with the smith, who closed the back door of the carriage.

Simon and Alex gave each other confused looks but shrugged it off, going towards the food stockades for their meals. Arriving with them, their tent mates and some of the other members of the brigade, along with one of the leading commanders. They all sat down at one of the tables and chatted about the plan of attack, and with the others brigades. Simon and Alexander payed attention when their brigade was mentioned.

"Saymon I Aleksandr, your brigade is going to be up front, in the first wave of the siege. Chert, I can only wish you luck, but your also going to given shield-bearers, only the finest in the Empire. Most of them survived the eastern incident with the Fox tribes, zhestkiye ublyudki..."

"Spasibo, Commander. We wish you the best of luck too. "

Alexander and Simon finally finished their small meal of bread and soup, and made their way to the nearest grinding stone, making sure to make their weapons sharp, but many men crowded around the grind stone, all of them eager to pierce the dragons hearts with their weapon.

After grinding their weapons, they went to the front gate, trying to find where their brigade went, and after asking around, figured out their entire brigade was being set for Annakijed as they spoke. Both struggling to get to the formations, their stamina was quickly depleted, and Alexander felt as if his small meal would be lost to his exhaustion. They recovered rather quickly and got into their designated spots in the columns, ready to set out for the heart of the Dragon nation.

As the men in the ranks went quiet, Vetreyinski II went onto a small platform above the crowd and put his hand up to silence the remaining men who spoke. He silently walked back and forth on the platform, pacing and inspecting the soldiers in line, looking as if he was checking every infantry man in each single column.

"Soldaty, today, we invade Annakijed, and restore peace once more, for their tyrant Queen Oupul, has gone too far!"

The soldiers gave a mighty roar, and was silenced again by Vetre's hand.

"They have slaughtered our people, burned our crops, slain our brothers in arms, and taken our homes for themselves. They soiled our mighty empire, zveri!"

Another wave of screams and cheers from the columns.

"Today, we take back our homes, we revenge our brothers, kill their tyrant Queen, and her corrupted and twisted empire! May the gods above watch over us, and give us the might we need, and may all of you, return safely to your homes, your wives, and your families!"

All of the columns started to burst out in cheers and screams of triumph and courage, along with a select few saying what they would personally do to a dragon with a sword. Vetreyinski got off the platform, and onto his horse, pulling out his sword, named 'drakony otravoy', each scratch in the blade marking the lives of fallen dragons, innocent or warrior.

"Come with me, brat'ya! Let us purge this plague, once and for all, for the Vetreyinski Empire!"

Alexander was nearly pushed forward, but fearing of getting trampled to death before the battle was on his mind, and he shoved himself forward with his comrades. He looked in front of him, the front of the columns covered with spear-men charging forward out of the gates. Alexander tried to find Simon, but he could only move forward and out of the gate himself. He quickly made his way to the side of the gate, then stood aside until much of the main force was ahead, then he finally spotted Simon casually walking with his lance in the air, chatting with some of the archers.

"-so you just stick behind?"

Many of the archers nodded at him, and Simon noticed Alexander running up to him.

"Simon, why are you not on the front?"

"Alexander, lets be honest, there was no need for this. We could simply over power the dragons with numbers, no matter their strength, we number in the millions, they number in the thousands."

Alexander considered his friends words, and calmed down. He looked at the capital, seeing the frontal soldiers already broke through the gate. Hearing the dull roar of the siege from all the way in front of the camp, it sounded as if they had already won. But they hadn't.

Alexander, Simon, and the group of archers looked at the capital as a small red ball went into the air, and rose slightly above the mountain the capital rested on. All of the men looked at each other, then back to the capital, only to see a large black plume erupt from the capital. The next thing they saw was a immense curl of flame come out of the capitals front gate, sending large puffs of black smoke beaming from the front. The archers drew their bows and rushed forward, but Simon and Alexander tried to stop them.

"Simon, we have to get out of here, now!"

"Alright, lets go!"

Simon and Alexander looked behind them as they ran, and the black plume got closer to them, but it was not smoke. It was the Dragon Army, and they were hazarding a guess that the trap at the front gate wiped out any and all reinforcements to defend the camp. As soon as they got in the camp, the archers in the tower looked down at them and started screaming.

"You two, lancers! What is going on, what is that cloud, and what happened with the flame from the gate?!"

"That isn't a cloud, we need to run!"

The archers peered at it once again, then begun to climb down the towers, running with Simon and Alexander.

"We need to get out, now! Before their counter-attack gets here!"

As soon as the archer finished his sentence, a fireball hit the ground next to him, causing the rest of the group to stumble, and the archer burst into flames, screaming in agony. Simon was flung by the blast, but managed to get up, but Alexander was hit in the head with a large chunk of wood. His vision blurred as explosions flurried around him, his bare eyes starting to glisten as he realizes this is how he is going to die, in a fiery inferno. Alexander could not hear over the loud ringing in his ear, and time seemed to slow as Simon looked around for a safe spot. His vision fades to black, but he can faintly hear Simons voice, and feel him slinging him onto his shoulder, carrying him. Alexander opened his eyes and saw Simon barging into a stockade, putting him down and Alexander loses consciousness.

----- 8 hours later -----

Alexander woke to Simon sleeping across from him with a sword in hand. Looking around, he could get a better view of the stockade they hid inside, but what chilled Alexander to the bone, was the dead silence outside of the stockade. Alexander crept over to Simon and tapped his shoulder to wake him up. Simon was quick to wake, almost amputating Alexanders hand in the process.

After they had both woken up more and listened outside, all they could hear were feminine, but deep, voices, and very heavy footsteps. They peered out of the small holes in the walls of the stockade, and nearly had a stroke, for there were columns of the Dragon army, their elite troops, the Queens Guard.

Alexander and Simon have only heard of them, as they were a thing of legend. Standing nearly double the height of a man, as strong as 100 men, and a natural armor of scales that has been fabled to be nearly as strong as Adamanite.

Both of the men started to panick, beginning to wonder what their fate would be to the legendary hands of the Queen of Dragons guard. Until they heard a sudden jerk on the door knob to the stockade. Alexander and Simon froze in fear, their backs paralyzed in fear. They watched as the door jerked open, but they had barely ducked into cover behind large stacks of stone as the heavy footsteps came closer to them. Alexander considered trying to run, but he knew it would not end well. The heavy footsteps stopped and a small sniffing noise was heard by Alexander and Simon, alerting them that they might be discovered.

Simon and Alexander had swords in hand, and they both looked at each other. Alexander pointed his hand at the dragon and nodded. Simon shook his head but it was too late, as Alexander had already jumped over the crate, ready to fight to the death.
