Sages, of Hidden Lights: Prologue
Once Upon a Time, from the ashes of a bleary void of nothingness there began a new world. This world would come to be known as Theria; a place to be filled with many magnificent sights, musical sounds and magical creatures. As the world blossomed like a flower, magic spread all across the land, and at the source; the mere pistil of the bud that started it all; there remained 13 stones. Each of these mysterious stones possessed great power, and so it was that each of 13 Kings and Queens would come into possession of such a stone. Thirteen great kingdoms were formed, and each led by one of these select holders of these powerful jewels.
For a while, little change occurred. There were wars; as there would be in any world. These pendants continued to be passed down, generation to generation; until one fateful day, the precious patterns of these traditions were broken. One of the thirteen kingdoms; Liara, a kingdom known for their prosperity and strong magical heritage; became the catalyst for the breaking of the forever unbroken. Upon the grounds of the many sorcerers and magicians of Liara, a fourteenth stone was created; and it became known as "The Artifact". Now, with the balance of power shifted, Liara became a threat to the rest of Theria.
Many of the kingdoms rebelled against this newfound arbitration. They waged war against the Liarans, and although the Liarans possessed the power of two, they still ultimately fell to the power of many.
The kingdom of Liara was destroyed. In the wake of mass genocide, almost all of the Liaran peoples, including their dearest king, were killed. Those who survived the vast and terrible eliminations were forced to live in hiding of their true identity.
With the king gone, it was said that Liara's pendent had been destroyed. The Artifact, however, was never found in the wreckage, and was eventually declared to be missing.
So from that day forward, only twelve kingdoms continued to make haste in Theria. This peace of mind continued for many years, and all was seemingly well. But such a peace of mind was destined to eventually die once again, for as to be told in the story that shall now come forth, the war that began that fateful day was far from over.
