Bevan walked through the long grass daring any pokemon to challenge him. Ruby the flareon purred in amusement as her master's head seemed to be on a swivel. An abra shifted in the backpack to get more comfortable before letting out a loud snore.

"Wow Blane you sure are loud." Bevan commented as he spun to a rustling in the grass behind him to reveal nothing.

-Master if you don't stop spinning I'm going to kick out this egg that you have placed me in charge of- said a voice in his head.

"Here let me see it I want to hold onto it."

Blane used psychic to make the little blue and white egg hover from the bag and in front of Bevan. -You _ are _ excited _ aren't _ you master. - He chuckled in Bevan's head which was an odd sensation to the trainer.

Ruby made a noise that he had learned throughout the years was a giggle, and looked at her out of the corner of his eye as he plucked the egg from the air. She suddenly jumped in front of him and stopped almost causing him to trip over her.

"Ruby wha-" He looked up to see what the flareon had stopped him from running into. It was a girl or rather a woman about the same age as he was. She had her back to him and was fussing over something in front of her. She wore tight fitting blue jean shorts (Daisy Dukes) a white tank top which revealed the red straps of her bra, and a blue backpack the same model as the one he had.

"Fla flareon" Ruby started to protest at the coming scolding but realized that her master's attention has shifted. Upon hearing Ruby the girl turned quickly sending her long blue hair out behind her. Bevan gasped as he looked into two sapphire like eyes as deep as the ocean. "Ummmmm can I help you?" she asked.

He stumbled over the next words that came from his mouth before taking a deep breath. "Hello my name is Bevan," he held his hand out to her bet she just stared at it. He dropped it to his side awkwardly.

"Ohhhh I know what you want." She pulled a pokeball from the black and yellow striped belt around her waist, "If two trainers make eye contact in the wild they must battle, right?"

Bevan smiled he remembered his dad saying something about pokemon trainer rules."Unless they need help."

The female smiled and released her pokemon, a piplup.

Ruby stepped forward annoyed that her master had been so easily distracted by this girl.

"I guess Ruby wants to fight." Bevan chuckled and rubbed the back of his head. he thought to himself.

---Translate pokespeak----

"You better get your master to back off from mine little birdie" Ruby growled at the piplup. It got a panicked look in its eye as it eeped at her, "I can't control what master does! I swear. Please don't hurt me."

"Calder use bubble" The female commanded. Calder the piplup took a deep breath and exhaled quickly sending a wave of bubbles at Ruby.

"Ruby, quick attack." Bevan called. She moved like a orange streak out of the way of the bubbles and slammed into the little birdlike pokemon flipping it back several feet. Surprisingly the piplup landed on its feet and prepared another bubble attack but Bevan saw it coming. "Use flamethrower now Ruby." She sucked in air and flared the fur out around her neck so she wouldn't overheat and unleashed a stream of fire toward the poor little pokemon just as it released its bubble attack.

The bubbles popped and turned to steam obscuring the two from view of their trainers. "Calder!" the female trainer called with a worried tone in her voice. The steam cleared to reveal the piplup passed out next to a blackened hole that was burned into the ground by Ruby's flamethrower. "Flareon flare." ----I didn't even hit him and he's knocked out---- The girl ran over to her pokemon and picked it up hugging it tight. "Oh thank goodness you're all right Calder."

Bevan walked over to Ruby and patted his flareon on the head, "That was amazing Ruby!"

-I think you went a little overboard there Ruby- Blane commented with a loud snore. She said something in pokespeach that made the abra chuckle.

"What was that voice?" trainer asked while clipping her piplup's pokeball to her belt. She had returned him during the exchange.

"Oh that was Blane my abra, he's sleeping in my backpack right now." he smiled at her, "you know I never did get your name."

"Oh!" she replied blushing a little," my- my name....."

-What's the matter can't remember your name? - Blane said in their heads -If you want I could tell Master Bevan for you.-

"No...I think I'll tell him." she paused, "my name is Assane."

"Nice to meet you Assane," Bevan smiled gently at her, "do you know where you are going?"

"No not really," she replied shyly, "I was just wondering around looking for pokemon." As if on cue something peeped behind her.

"I take it you found some."

Assane introduce the newist member of her team, a starly. The bird pokemon fluttered to its master's shoulder and peeped again. It ruffled its gray and black feathers and stared at Bevan from behind the mask like white feathers on its face.

Ruby yipped around Bevan's and Assane's feet. -Ruby says that she has an idead- Blane translated, - she asks why can't the annoying but pritty trainer come with us?-

"Well that doesn't sound like a bad idea," then something moved in the crook of his arm and he realized that he still carried the lucario egg, "It moved." he exclaimed excitedly,

"What moved?" Assane raised an eyebrow at him.

"The egg moved," he held it out for her to see.

Assane reached out to touch it but jerked her hand back at a bark from Ruby. -Ruby says that no one except for Master Bevan is allowed to touch the lucario egg.-

-By the way master, you might want to set up camp.-

"What?" he mumbled not taking his eyes off the egg.

Blane repeated himself with some exagerated stutters and slurs causing both Ruby and Assane to laugh. Bevan looked around it had gotten dark, "Okay let's set out in the morning." That night he fell sleep holding the egg close to his chest.
