Beyond Chaos Chapter one
Beyond Chaos Chapter one
By Thomas Walsh As with all my other stories make sure to let me know what you think so I can continue to improve. I hate the world, everything hated me as well otherwise I wouldn't have the life I do. 'clang clang' an iron baton slammed against the cage doors to wake every one up. I stretched my body as everyone else in the same cage yawned or tried not to wake up. Today was going to just be another day, nothing good ever happened. "up and at em already, don't make me hit any of you lot it's far to much bloody fun" the warden yelled as he continued to bang on the cages. "bloody humans, some day, some day I'll kill them all" another demon next to me said. The humans opened the doors and began marching us out to the mess hall. The courtyard was full of snow and I had to jump into a bigger demons footprints to avoid getting my fur soaked as we all trudged through the snow and those who didn't have fur were shivering and even looked a little blue if it wasn't their natural skin tone. A plate of some horrible ,watery gruel was thrown in front of everyone and everyone ate it quickly, I was like a dog so I ate off the floor the same as every other animalistic demon in here. "today is a very good day for you freaks it is" the warden started however I didn't bother listening I just continued with my food, the only reason I was here was because I was a demon, unlike the malicious, blood thirsty monsters that lived in the depths of hell however I was probably the biggest joke of the underworld. I was also the smallest thing in the whole slave trade since just about everyone else I knew could pick me up without too much effort since I was about the size of a dog. I was shocked when a baton hit the table leg next to me and someone else had to grab me so I didn't try to run. I watched the warden leave to sort out a small fight that started at the other side of the room. Looking up I was presented with the face of my only friend in this horrible place, an angel called Siyena "Just stay out of trouble for today, kay?" she said to me. I said okay gave and her a quick hug as thanks for saving me from a beating and finally paid attention to the returning warden. "And as I was saying, important day today, yes its Monday already and we get to get rid of some of you freaks again" the warden said and he continued to insult everyone who was a slave for a while longer until he had to sort out a fight yet again. Everyone was led out to the courtyard where it had begun to snow and told to make themselves looks smart, it was such a bad joke, slaves couldn't look smart. People in warm looking coats and fancy cloths would soon be walking into the courtyard but making my fur look less ruffled was the least of my worries since I saw the shadow of another demon walk up behind me. I was grabbed by the fur on the scruff of my neck and held the centre demons face. "what do you think your doing hanging around with an angel you betraying little shit" the demon holding me had plenty of muscle and four horns coming out of the front of his head. "don't know what you mean" I said trying not to show pain, the demon called me a liar and I was thrown to the ground, I struggled to my feet since this I wasn't going to be beaten by someone like him. "well the little traitor doesn't know when to give up does it" the demon said turning back to me with a grin. I wasn't going to take chances and ran quickly getting my self grabbed by the faster, stronger demon, I tried to kick him but it was a useless attempt. I thought I was going to be thrown to the ground again however the demon holding me was hit by a nearby guard who threw an electric rod at him causing the beast to collapse. I tried to run but was grabbed by one of the guards who pinned me to the floor while two others moved the bigger demon away, as soon as it looked safe I was kicked and left in the snow, I got up with my side paining but there was nothing I could do but wait for the pain to go away. A hand grabbed me and pulled me into a hug "Hey I saw what happened but I didn't want to get in trouble, last time they threatened to pull out my feathers" I heard Siyena say. "s'okay, they didn't hurt me much anyway" I said feeling my side pulse in pain. I was pulled into a tight hug, "things will get better when they come" Siyena said before letting go of me, she began checking for stray feathers on her wings and I decided to leave her to it. I couldn't do much about my fur besides trying to flatten it which was what I did. A few rich People began to walk into the courtyard in their fancy warm clothing while everyone was lined up for inspection, I was shocked when a huge man with long lanky legs walked over to me hunched over slightly, he smiled and said "th-this one will d-do much better than those d-dogs" I coward as his hand reached out to grab me. I panicked and snapped at his hand digging my fangs into his flesh. "oh um... y-yes he will be no problem what so ever" the man said before doing something to force my jaw open and removing his hand from my grasp, I was dropped on the floor but managed to land on my feet. "y-yes I think he will do" the strange man said as he left to sort out necessary paper work.

Later that evening after the selling there were probably not more than twenty of us left that were not sold that day including me, everyone was in a nearly empty room since e were not needed for anything at all at the moment, a few demons were fighting in the centre of the room and the rest were on the only two sofas in the room, the angels were in a corner talking about god and other stuff excluding Siyena who was sat up against the wall with me led on her lap. The room did have a television but it was tiny and didn't show anything other than a fuzzy black and white mess of dots, Siyena was running her hand through my fur humming a tune similar to a lullaby. "how come you never get in trouble with the other angels for being nice to me?" I asked Siyena as I sat up. "well we don't think your dangerous like most other demons, the others would hurt and kill anything they wanted if it were up to them but your different for some reason, if it wasn't for your biting problem you could be considered gentle" she told me still running her hand through my fur. There was a sudden banging of metal and everyone looked at the door when a warden came in. "right move it you lot we got work for ya" he said as everyone got up. Some of the human sized demons and a single angel got picked out from everyone and were marched out the room and everyone else went back to what they were doing for the rest of the evening.

Everyone including me was thrown back into the cages and like every night all of them led against the walls except for me, there was one particular demon who had a lot of blood red fur on her tail, in fact it was so thick I could lie on it like a bed and she never knew which was a good thing since the other demons shoved me away if I tried to lie against the west wall, the big deal about it was the fact there were hot water pipes behind the west wall so unlike the floor it was somewhat warm. "it's odd isn't it?, that we practically did nothing today instead of being assigned work" I heard a demon say. "yea they probably thinking something up and it will be bad for us" another replied rolling onto his side so he could talk better and also letting out a putrid fart that made my eyes water. "damn that was nasty, anyway I bet your right but there's nothing we can do about it so I'm going to go back to sleep."

When I woke up there wasn't any banging of cages or screams or yelps of someone or something being hit like I expected every morning, instead everything was quite for once. It seemed like all the guards had left for a few seconds until I heard the squeaky door on the west side of the room open. "Time to wake up you orrible lot and I mean now!" the warden on duty said as he banged a stun rod on the bars, it was unusual for them to use anything other than batons so there was someone important coming today and everyone was up in no time since they all knew it too. The lanky legged giant from before walked into the room interrupting the warden on duty. "is he r-ready for me to pick up yet or will I be waiting for another day" the man said slightly angrily as he walked over to the warden. "y-yes sir we just need to sort out the paper work first" said leading the man away again. I was taken into another room to wait while they sorted out the paperwork and of all the people I could I have been thrown in with I was in the same room as Siyena. "hey I guess you got bought at last" she said with her warm smile, I ran up to her and gave her a hug. "I'm really gonna miss you" I said and she tightened the hug, I could feel shed tears falling on my fur as I began sobbing my self. Within ten minutes I was being pulled on a lead away from the room and was loaded into the trunk of a car, my new master must have been rich since the car was not only steam powered but also had lots of glass in places like the trunk which was where I was thrown, the car sped off towards where my new home was. After about an hour we were still driving and I was starting to feel a little stick, the minutes continued to pass and I wasn't feeling much better as I lay in the trunk looking out at everything around me moving at insane speeds. Eventually the car stopped and I got up hoping we had arrived at last however after a few minutes the car abruptly started again and I lost my balance when it gained speed so quickly.

After what seemed like hours we ended up going into a tunnel into the sea, when I could see again I was in a massive dome under the sea, there were lots of different types of fish swimming around above us, I felt mesmerised and we hadn't even gotten into the city yet. After getting through the main gate I saw the breath taking cityscape up close. It was an iron metropolis of square buildings bridges trains and steam engines, there were people everywhere and it almost seemed like the city should be over flowing with its inhabitants. We stopped outside a grand looking manor with a huge garden that showed a picture from above. It was truly a breath taking scene and now I was going to live and work here.
