Carrying a dream
#1 of Carrying a dream.
One day, Daylight's life took a sudden one-eighty. Her trainer put his life on the line for her, he paid dearly for it. Now she is left to wonder the world alone to carry out her trainer's dream. Until she meets an Umbreon named Nightshade, together they follow their new found dreams.
Part 1:
It was dark, cold and breezy, with a lifting glow of moonlight illuminating the forest canopy. An Espeon sat within clear view of the moon, her head hung, a colourless orb duly glowed on her forehead along with patches of dried blood tainting her once clean pink fur. Memories flooded her mind, no longer being held back by her psyche. Her beloved trainer before her barely breathing. Blood covered hands reached out towards her holding a hard shaped pendent. She could feel her master's psyche fading away and she was powerless to stop it. In anger she tapped into her reserve power; releasing it with unparalleled power, everything within her telepathic range was flung into the air and then spun like a tornado.
Water collected at the corners of her eyes once the memory had subsided. She blinked slowly and wiped the tears away with her paw. The pendent hung freely from her neck but didn't stray to far from her chest. Usually she would open it using her telekinetic ability, since she was drained, that was out of the question. Thankfully her trainer taught her how to open it by paw, she looked around her to study the environment. Normally she would see herself useless but her master thought ahead of his competition and built her up to hone her natural form. She remembered a few words her master said after a loosing battle, before lying down to get the pendent to remain still. She opened it up, a picture of her with her trainer was present.
A boy in a white shirt with blue stripes and a black pair of shorts was sitting down. His green eyes stood out against his creamy blonde hair. On his lap was her, both of them looking happy as can be. Patches of dirt was on the boys cheeks, shirt and shorts, while she had her lovely pink fur darkened by dirt. Despite his rather happy expression she knew his true nature, he hates his own kind. Describing them as 'vile, greedy, lust' fuelled creatures; even to the point were he vowed to lead his kind away from their primitive ways. A sudden snap of a twig to her left snapped her from the picture. Her eyes pierced the dark just enough to see at least one hundred metres in front of her, her ears panned around like little satellites, listening for even the smallest of sounds.
"One day I'll bring humans and Pokémon together in true harmony. No more war, no more fighting. One day I'll ensure that happens, and I'll do so with you by my side." Said a distorted voice echoing in the back of her mind. She shuddered and shook her head, something felt wrong. Yes, it was her master but he sounded nothing like she had just heard. With a tap, she closed the pendent and stood up. Unknowingly, she stood up too fast and caused her vision to blacken around the edges, with the feeling of a tight chest causing her to see a form just a few metres in front of her.
It was standing upright on two legs, its arms hanging loosely by its sides. While standing at five foot tall, roughly the height of her master with his footwear on. Fear ran through her. Was her metal state breaking down without her power charged? Or was her mind playing tricks on her?
"Fear encourages either bravery or cautiousness or something greater, stupidity." Another one of her masters quotes echoed her mind. It has only been a few hours since the incident, but having no one to guide her, or even care for her was starting to take a toll. Violently her stomach emitted a growl. Without realising it she had allowed herself to go past her scheduled feeding time. This triggered yet another memory flash with her master's quotes.
"We humans have scheduled our own lives into a timetable. I on the other hand will not limit you to a schedule. If you are ever hungry, feel free to nibble on the berries in the jar. All I ask for in return is that you'll let me know when it is running low. If you are fatigued, fall asleep where you are most comfortable." She remembered him saying while holding a basket filled with various berries, he held it low enough for her to peer in. Inviting her to take a few that she liked. She shook her head and cleared her mind, now was not the time to morn. Her master's wish was now her own, but to see it through, she must first keep her head screwed on.
To her right a twig snapped just out of her visual range, but her ears pinpointed the sound in seconds. Judging by the sound, the creature was quite heavy. Leaving her with a few potential options, but she was still without her powers. She could sense it getting closer and closer; rustling leaves hinted where the creature was. She could only hold her breath whilst looking in the general direction of her stalker.
The sound of rustling leaves traded themselves for the sound of silence, leaving the dark environment in an eerie state. Her fear worsened when yellow rings formed in front of her. She swallowed her fear and raised her head. If she was going to die, she was going to go down like her master. With pride. No longer feeling regret nor fear, she closed her eyes and braced for her own demise. The pendent she wore remained open, and brushed against her chest.
Exhaled breaths breezed against her sensitive fur, the creature was practically right on top of her. Yet it hadn't delivered any sort of blow. Curiosity was beginning to eat at her, she wanted to see why her death was taking so long. So, unable to bare the nagging curiosity any longer she opened her eyes. Surprise more than relief rushed through her, as she laid her eyes on an Umbreon. Its coat was as dark as the night itself with glowing yellow rings located in various locations. One ring was practically a circle on its forehead, it had one ring on each ear, both of its forelegs and rear legs, and finally its tail. It definitely was taller than her by at least by a couple of inches, those blood red slit-like eyes looked directly into her soul. So she thought, the Umbreon wasn't looking directly at her. It was staring at the pendent.
The Espeon felt out of place. How could a pendent stop a possibly hungry wild Pokémon from killing her? The answer to that question will forever be a mystery, but moving now could lead to her being lunch. She didn't want to go down like that.
"Esp." She cautiously chirped. The small eye movement of the Umbreon rattled her. That creature was a dark type, even with her psychic powers she was already at the disadvantage. Inwardly she sighed in amusement and defeat. No point in fighting, she was better off just lying down with her belly exposed. That thought was thrown to the back of her head. No way in hell was she submitting. However she was taken back by the Umbreon's next move. It turned around, gestured with its head for her to follow it.
"Bre-on." It said shortly as it came to a stop, its right eye peering back at her. On the other hand her body decided it could no longer bare the stress. Her legs trembled beneath her, weakness was displaying itself. She witnessed the Umbreon turn around, it appeared to have shock in its eyes.
"Espeon." She said weakly, her eyelids became heavy. Even her already exhausted mind had been pushed over the edge. No longer able to keep her conscious, she collapsed without taking a step.

The Espeon awoke with a headache that pounded within her mind, but her surprise she had regained some of her psychic abilities. As well recalling the events that occurred yesterday, she found herself in a bed made of old and used blankets. Next to her was the Umbreon from last night, it was curled up in ball asleep next to her.
A yawn had crept up on her, with little control she yawned. A small but high pitched sound escaped her mouth. Umbreon's ears twitched along with it stirring awake. Espeon felt her heart sink into the deepest depths of her stomach, she too wanted to sink that deep. Unfortunately her luck felt like it ran out, the Umbreon woke up. Slowly it opened its eyes, Espeon felt uneasy as it gazed in her direction. It then yawned before getting up off its side of the blankets. It walked off as if nothing as out of the ordinary. Espeon couldn't help but eye every movement it was doing.
Umbreon had walked over to a cooker, the very thing humans use to cook their food before eating it. Millions of thoughts rushed into Espeon's mind at once, it made her dizzy. Apparently the Umbreon sensed this and cocked her a rather evil grin. The canines it possessed caused her to shudder. Was it going to fatten her up? Only to eat her later? Those two questions bounced Espeon's mind. 'Makes sense, I am at the type disadvantage here.' She thought grimly to herself.
"Um." Called the Umbreon. Espeon shook free of its thoughts, her caller was gesturing to what appeared to be a bag of sugar on the counter. Right out of the reach of the Umbreon, but for her it was in perfect reach. Thankfully her telekinetic powers has returned even if it was only a fraction of her power. She found herself unconsciously walking towards the Umbreon, she sat down to its right and then aimed her telekinetic grasp on the bag of sugar. With little effort she lifted the bag and then hovered it in front of the Umbreon. She felt like she was pushing her luck just a tad. The Umbreon stared at her with a look humans quite often did as a none verbal 'really?'
Mentally she sighed, she had no idea what the Umbreon was thinking. An idea dawned on her, she could probe into the Umbreon's mind. That would make it easier to understand what the creature wants her to do. Swallowing her fear, she then activated another psychic ability. The doorway to Umbreon's mind was opened.
Part 2:
"I was wanting for you to do that." Said the Umbreon mentally. Espeon jumped in shock and almost severed the mental connection. That would have been crippling for the Umbreon, but thankfully she had kept the connection. The Umbreon gave a giggle, a rather girly giggle whilst still mentally staring at her.
"Y-You have?" Stuttered the Espeon, she was talking on a deeper scale with another Pokémon. Her mind was beginning to race faster than an Olympic runner.
"I may not be as pampered as you, but I still know day version of myself looks like." The Umbreon said with humour. Unfortunately the Espeon did not pick up on the humour. "May I ask for the name your human called you?
"Daylight" Said the Espeon after thinking to herself. She soon realised that thinking was dangerous whilst using telepathic communication. Her white eyes rested on the red eyes of the Umbreon, and even smiled a little.
"Well then Daylight, I am Nightshade." The Umbreon said in reply while it sat down. Daylight only just realised her new companion was a female. Mentally she cursed herself for not even realising that small detail. To her surprise, Nightshade lightly giggled. Which in turn almost made Daylight drop the bag of sugar, that she forgot she was holding. Only when she felt something draining her, did she put the sugar down.
"What did you want me to do with the bag of sugar? Daylight asked as she recalled the reason why she had picked it up.
"I had a feeling that you were going to attempt to read my mind. After all it is the only thing you can do to me. If we are basing it off our type. You could in fact be stronger than myself..."
"Why did you help me?" Daylight asked no longer able to hold back the nagging question. Nightshade looked at Daylight in shock. After a few intense moments, Nightshade regained her composer. She took a slow but deep breath before making her reply.
"Truth be told, I was going to kill you." She said looking away from Daylight's eyes. Those purple eyes with white pupils made her feel uneasy. She found herself looking back into Daylight's eyes. She was taken back by the in Daylight's gaze. She looked blank.
"Why didn't you?" Daylight asked in a calm tone. Nightshade visibly shuddered at the question; never has she seen a creature more willing to die, and in that she learned that she may have offended her guest. "Please, there is no need to worry. I am curious as to why you spared my life."
Nightshade gulped mentally and physically before saying. "Upon noticing your pendant, I realised we share something in common. In a sense we both want to avenge those that was once close to us." In her mind, Daylight lowered herself into a seating position, she then changed the scenery to a grassy meadow with flowers of various colours. It felt so real.
"Then you would know that my master was a kind and caring young man. He had a dream. A big one at that." Daylight said, getting the attention of Nightshade. "He dreamed off a better world where people and Pokémon were truly united as one. However he longer is able to see that dream through; It now falls to me, and I intend to see his dream come true."
Nightshade's interest was beginning to reach its peak, her bond with her human was deep. In comparison with Daylight's bond however, it was crystal clear whose bond ran deeper. Daylight looked at the thinking Umbreon and carefully pulled herself out of her saviour's mind. Sleep was beginning to lure her back into its grasp. She was more than willing to allow it to; first she had one more thing to do. While Nightshade was still deep in her own mind, Daylight placed a small but meaningful peck on Nightshade's cheek.
