Brothers
#1 of Shawn and Shay
This is my first time uploading, I would love to hear any feedback on my writing/spelling or any other additional feedback, I am hoping to continue this story even if it doesn't get support.
Disc: I have not written for a couple of years so this may be awful so please excuse any grammar mistakes I may have made. Either way enjoy the story.
Update: I fixed some of the small grammar issues and added more description to some of the characters.
"Every morning it's the same shit with you Shawn, you have one job!"
"Mom can't afford to be here in the mornings like she used too because of work and dads gone way before she is."
"All she wants you to do is make breakfast Shawn, but somehow you manage to mess it up."
"It's not my fault Shay! The toaster always burns the toast, and I was never properly taught how to cook anything that isn't cereal and toast." The smaller dragon said with his head down.
"Why can't you cook in the morning Shay? You're older and know how to cook" Shawn whined.
"You know why I can't be the one to cook in the morning Shawn, I have to deal with everything else around here."
"It's not my fault you can't even make toast correctly Shawn."
"Mom and dad put a lot of trust in me to keep the house together, make sure you get to school on time and watch after you." The older dragon explained.
Shawn had not lifted his head since the conflict started and Shay started to feel bad after putting so much blame on his younger brother. He was always made fun of in school for being weak compared to the other kids that went to his school. On top of his parents still have not told Shawn he's adopted from a whole different species of dragons whose genes don't even have wings compared to Shay who has a full grown pair already. Shay placed a hand on Shawn shoulder causing the smaller dragon to look up at Shay, The larger dragon felt like he should tell him but now might not be the best time to break his heart even more, he already seemed pretty torn since the breakfast fiasco this morning.
"Look Shawn, I'll make breakfast this morning since we still have time before school but go get ready with everything else for the day alright?"
That brought a small smirk on Shawn's face and he quickly walked upstairs to get ready.
"Oh and also if I have time after work Shawn I'll even get a new toaster, this thing is pretty ancient I guess I can agree with you on that one."
Shawn turned around halfway up the stairs gave one of those stupid grins he always does and ran up stairs. Shay turned back to the mess his brother made and decided to start from scratch. Upstairs Shawn was getting ready to go to school pondering what to wear slightly baffled by how nice his brother was to him this morning compared to the usual "You fucked it up again, just put the burritos in the microwave you can't possibly mess that up right?" What made it worse was that Shawn recently started to have different feelings for Shay he tried to push those thoughts out of his head. He was always told that being gay was bad or a sin especially from his parents and not to mention the constant bombardment of the kids calling him gay at school. Shawn knew his brother didn't feel the same way for him anyways, ever since Lea and Shay started dating. Lea was a slimmer white dragon, soft scales and perfect Straight horns like Shays. She was small compared to Shay but so were most of the dragons his species.
They had been dating for over six months now, Shay had never seemed happier since they had started dating and to top it off they worked together at the local burger place where Shay first learned how to cook. They worked the same shifts and often returned back to his house after work and would not leave until early in the morning when Shay's parents had left. This always made Shawn feel uneasy because he knew it made his brother happy but all it brought Shawn was grief and uncertainty on whether he should tell his brother his feelings at all and just move on. Tears began to form in Shawn's eyes when his brother called to tell him that breakfast was ready, he quickly wiped the tears from his eyes and ran downstairs.
Shay and Shawn had finished eating breakfast without saying a word to each other, Shawn then grabbed his bag and waited outside by his brothers car while Shay cleaned up the dishes. A while later his older brother walked outside and locked the door behind him, they both got into the rugged seats of his brothers old car they didn't exchange any words for ten mins in the car now. Shawn just took small peeks at his brother when he thought his brother wouldn't see but Shay knew his brother always looked at him but never knew why. He always thought it was because he had wings and Shawn was just showing jealousy, but that was only part of the problem.
Shay was a very attractive dragon to Shawn, fourteen feet in length head to tail covered in red scales, very built body, and two proud wings which did in fact make Shawn jealous. Shawn was the opposite color, a natural blue color with a lighter underside, and had jagged horns unlike his brothers. Shay and Shawn looked nothing alike whatsoever, that always fascinated Shawn considering that Shay looked exactly like their father. Shawn kept thinking about all of Shay's physical features from his head down to between his legs, other thoughts now protruding his mind. He had never seen another male's sheath. Curious about what Shay's might look like compared to his, how much longer Shays is compared to his own- "Shawn!" The now blushing dragon brought his mind out and back to the real world trying to hide the physical embarrassment, now plastered on his face.
"You've been really quiet Shawn what's up with you today? Is it still about breakfast this morning...look don't worry about it Shaw-"
"What do you and Lea do when you're alone when mom and dad aren't home?" The curious dragon said with a bright blush on his face
"Oh, well I mean you went through health class didn't you? You're a smart kid I'm sure you can figure it out..." Shay said awkwardly.
"Why do you ask that? Does Shawn have a crush? Come on spill I want to hear." The larger dragon said with a stupid grin.
"No I don't have a crush Shay I was...curious you two seem so happy together...I just..." Shawn explained with a sad tone.
"Well yeah I don't know what I would do without Lea, she's definitely the best thing that's happened to me since you came Shawn"
The younger dragon just stared at the floor of the car ears drooped down tail lying flat in the chair.
"Look Shawn I'm sure you'll find someone hell, I must have been two years older than you are now when I met my first mate."
"I guess, but I still want to know what that feels like I've never felt companionship like that, at least I don't think I have" The small dragon exclaimed.
"I mean you-you've masturbated before right? Shawn?" Shay said shyly
"I mean I've heard about it in health class and sometimes I hear about it in the hallways but I-I don't know, I've never tried it before"
"Alright, alright well I mean you should try it if you want to at least get a feel of what it's like to uh m-mate"
"Just don't let mom and dad catch you, you're still young Shawn I'm sure they won't be happy walking in with your sheath out!" Shay said between laughs
"Yeah, mom and dad would be so heated if they saw me doing that."
"D-do you think about Lea while you do it Shay?"
"Ha uh y-yeah, typically you think about your mate when you do it or if you don't have one at least think about someone you're attracted to." Shay said awkwardly.
"Can we switch the subject Shawn this is a little awkward."
"Sure" Shawn said softly
Neither of them really said too much for the rest of the car ride just the occasional peek Shawn got at his brother. They arrived at the school that Shawn went to and the only words shared was a short "Bye" as Shawn crawled out of the chair and walked to the entrance of the school. Shawn was constantly looking back until his brothers car left. All of Shawn's classes were boring to him today, he just wanted to get out and head home to try the thing his brother talked about. He kept on thinking about how it would feel and how he would do it since he had never tried before. During all of this though he overheard two furs behind him, a wolf and a tiger exchanging words about the helpless dragon in front of him.
"How does a dragon even grow up without wings?" The male whispered to the tiger
"Yeah I thought all dragons had wings, he should have grown them by now, he looks dumb without them." The female tiger said softly
At this point Shawn was on the verge of tears and he asked the teacher shyly if he could use the restroom to which he replied "Be quick about it." Shawn practically ran to the bathroom noticed that nobody else was around, ran into the stall closed the door and started bawling going back to the previous thought about why he didn't have wings. Both his parents and his brother had wings but not him not even stubs where there should be wings, Shawn finished his crying washed his face only to put on a viable face and to not disobey his teachers wishes.
As he slumped down the hallway he keep scratching at the back right of his shoulder where he thought wings would form, while his other shoulder was brushing against the wall. When Shawn finally arrived back in class everyone was quietly working on something that Shawn could care less about, he slowly walked to his teachers desk where he was stacking papers when Shawn practically pleaded to go down to the nurse. The teacher noticed the sad look on the younger dragons face, lowered his glasses gave him a warm smile and started to write his name on a form too the nurse. Shawn slowly walked back to his desk, packed up his bags without even exchanging a glance at the two students behind him and walked out the door not even bothering to close it behind him. He walked the same way to the nurses that he did back from the bathroom, when he arrived the kind female fox asked him what the problem was this time in a sarcastic tone.
"This is the second time this week Shawn, do you have another headache? You know I can't give you medication in school."
"Yeah Mrs my head has been hurting a lot..." Shawn said sadly.
"Alright you just lie down Shawn, I'll get a hold of your parents so they can come pick you up" The fox said smiling.
Shawn lied there for thirty minutes thinking about his brother and why he couldn't grow wings, he started thinking about the time he stole a peek at his older brother changing, how toned his muscles were not to forget when he saw his brother bend down to pick up his pants. His brother had such a nice ass to him, the picture of his brothers curves now imprinted in his mind. Shawn could feel his lower body start to stir, that changed quickly when he heard someone walk into the dim lit room. Shawn slowly perked his head up to see his mother stealing glances at him while talking to the fox, Shawn gave his mother a sad look and shifted his sight to look at his feet. "Alright Shawn let's head home and get some rest ok?" His mother said with grief. "Ok" was all Shawn said softly.
They both walked out of the school without saying much until they got into the car. "Two times this week Shawn? Really I mean come on you don't expect me to believe you had two headaches that bad in the span of week do you?" His mother said sharply. Shawn didn't say a thing mainly because he was about to burst into tears again, his mother saw that she was pushing him and decided to give him a break while they drove.
"Mom?"
"Yeah Shawn?" His mother replied.
"Why don't I have wings like you, dad or Shay?" Shawn said sadly.
His mother didn't quite know how to respond to question at hand.
"I guess it's time I tell you about the time I met your mother Shawn" His mother said now very uneasy.
"Wh-what do you mean the time you met my mother you're my m-"
"No your biological mother Shawn."
"What does that mean? Biological?"
"It means the parents that birthed you the ones who brought you into this world Shawn, I-I didn't have you Shawn"
"You're actual mother was such a beautiful dragon Shawn, her and I met a few times before I adopted you."
"She always seemed very cheerful but whenever I mentioned talk about the adoption or money she quickly changed."
"You see her husband had died a few months prior and she quit her job and stopped working all together which meant she didn't have the money to sustain...well you anymore Shawn."
"When the time came to take you Shawn she was not in tears nor did she seem sad at all, because all she wanted was a better life for you Shawn and she knew she could not give you what she wanted."
By this point Shawn was in tears not believing a word he was hearing from his mother.
"You see your mother was a rare breed of dragon that doesn't grow wings Shawn, I know I should have told you earlier but-I-I I couldn't" She said in a soft tone.
Shawn just sat in the chair with his head on the window sobbing quietly he didn't want to talk to his mother or anyone he just wanted to be left alone. As soon as the two of them arrived home Shawn didn't bother grabbing his bag, he ran upstairs and slammed the door shut not wanting anyone to disturb him. All he did when he got into his room was sprawl out on the bed and cry softly into his pillow. He had been continuously crying for some time when a knock came at the door, Shawn didn't even lift his head, the light from the door opened slowly and then closed back again without a word. His mother took the signs that he wasn't in the mood want to talk and left.
Two long hours passed and another knock came at the door still no answer from Shawn, the figure walked into the room and closed the door behind them. His older brother placed a paw on his younger brothers back and sat down next to Shawn, his younger brother didn't even bother to look up to see who it was.
"Look I know what mom said to you earlier, and I just want you to know that I still love you, so do mom and dad."
"That will never change Shawn, I promise"
