Part six in this little tale of a pair of traps.

Friday and Saturday went well for Chris, the performances were well received and it was a full house every night. For Jo they were cold and threatening of frozen precipitation. Sunday the two of them spent much of the day trying to figure out what to wear and what they would say. In that last regard, Jo had the hardest time, she always got nervous about meeting parents.

Jo stood in her bedroom completely topless at the moment. The binding vest lying on the bed that hid her C cup breasts while she pretended to be a guy. She didn't wear it all the time, as her heavy welding coat hid her gender at work well enough. She cross dressed more out of necessity than desire. She had been told plenty of times she had a beautiful figure.

With a shirt settled on, she put on the binding vest, then the shirt before a very light sprinkling of cologne. It wasn't the most popular of scents, but it was the one her father had always used when he cleaned up nice. The copper apple was sitting next to her phone so she wouldn't forget either. Jo had also cleaned up her truck a little, so the back seat wasn't full of loose crap rolling around.

Chris was appropriately cute for dinner with his parents. They had gotten used to it, and accepted it as who he was now. In this case, cute meant lots of layers as it was barely zero degrees out today and he hated being cold. Joe was five minutes early, even with the poor weather. The jackalope seemed extra handsome today, and smelled nice.

"Is that Old Spice?"Chris asked as they headed down to Joe's truck.

"Yeah, same stuff my dad uses and his dad used." Jo chuckled and was glad he left the truck running to keep the heater warm.

"And my dad uses and granddad used." Chris teased; thrilled the truck's heater was blowing hot. He looked down and picked up the copper apple. "Did you make this?"

Jo checked her mirrors and pulled out to head for Christina's parents place. "Yeah, you said your mother was a teacher."

"It looks really neat; I bet she will love it. Do you know where the North Side Mountain View subdivision is?" Chris loved the detail in the apple, the tool marks making the leaf seem to come alive.

"Of course, we made the arch that the sign hangs on over the main entrance." Jo jumped on a main drag and headed north. "Does your mother teach at the new elementary school?"

"Yeah, they bought the house before the school was finished." Chris set the apple down and glanced out the window. He was feeling pretty good about this, Joe was better in every way than the last guy, who his father had booked once. That was a long and awkward dinner.

It was a solid twenty minute drive to the housing development, and another five before they pulled into the driveway. Jo glanced at the truck's clock, precisely ten minutes early, just like she wanted. It was neither a big or fancy house, none of them in this neighborhood were. As it was mainly for young families or retired folks. Most only two or three bedrooms, Jo grabbed the apple before they walked up to the door.

Chris knocked once before opening the front door. "Hello, we're here."

Jo noticed the lovely aroma of dinner wafting from the kitchen. They hung up their coats and took off their shoes before Christina lead them further in. "It smells delicious in here."

"We are in the kitchen, you are earlier than we expected." Chris' mother said.

"It's a bad habit of mine." Jo said with a smile as Christina led her to the kitchen. The woman standing near the stove was a lovely brown wolf, with streaks of silver in her auburn hair. The gentleman sitting at the table was a little heavy with salt and pepper hair, his fur a dull gray. He certainly looked like a retired cop, still had short cropped hair and a crisp button down shirt.

"If that's your only bad habit you are doing good." Chris' father chuckled.

"This is Joe Albon." Chris turned to look at Joe. "This is my dad, Hank and my mom, Kelly."

Jo shook Hank's hand. "A pleasure to finally meet you."

"Albon... You're Mike's kid. I thought the name sounded familiar. I saw him last week at the lodge meeting." Hank said and smiled.

"I never made the connection myself, haven't seen you in ages." Jo was actually a little more nervous about this meeting. Course the last time she had seen Hank, she was ten maybe eleven.

"What's that in your hand?" Kelly asked as she wiped hers on a towel.

Jo cleared her throat and held out the copper apple. "Just a little something I made for you."

Kelly's eyes glowed as she admired it. "Now this is thoughtful, and the detail. I can't wait to take it and show the other teachers."

"Glad you like it." Jo smiled.

Kelly had made lasagna and garlic toasted bread, which made Jo's day. They talked a little about work and of course about the play. Thankfully Jo could stuff her face without worry since Christina had mentioned she was a big eater. There was even dessert, which Jo had been eyeing almost all night.

"I am glad Christina told me to make extra, you can really put it down." Kelly laughed as she brought the raspberry pie to the table.

"You'd be surprised how many calories you burn shivering in the cold a hundred feet in the air. Plus it was really good." Jo had calmed down part way thru dinner; there really wasn't any reason to be nervous. "Next week I get a two day break from the cold at least."

"Starting a different job?" Chris asked and put a hefty spoonful of whipped cream on his slice.

"No, I was asked to do some repair work down at Parsons and Sons Crane and Rigging. His lead mechanic welder has been sick." Jo didn't put any whipped cream on her slice of pie; it was heavenly enough to not need it. "This is fantastic."

"Glad you like it. So I must ask since Christina didn't tell me, how did the two of you meet?" Kelly asked.

"Down at the club for Tera's first concert here. Was kind of surprised to see her sitting at a table all alone." Jo smiled at Christina. "Well she had a Shirley Temple, keeping her company."

"So you enjoy all kinds of music as well, and keep busy with work. Any other hobbies?" Hank asked before finishing off his slice of pie.

"If either of you have gone to the renaissance fair with her, you have likely seen one or two of the medieval suits of armor I have made. Or some sculptures at the farmers markets and craft fairs if I don't have to work." Jo set her fork down, she was stuffed.

"I have seen your stand once or twice; you are a very talented young man." Kelly got up to clear their plates.

Jo insisted on helping at least clear the table, even if she was a guest. Her father had raised her to have better manners than most. She was quickly shooed away after the table was clear and things put back in the fridge. They retired to the living room to chat away another hour before Jo and Chris decided they should go. After all two of them had to get up early for work.

"Well, I hope I made a good first impression." Jo chuckled as she drove them back to Christina's apartment.

Chris laughed. "I would say you nailed it. I haven't seen dad that happy to meet a boyfriend before."

"That's good. Course I will likely find out for sure after the next lodge meeting. As I am sure they will talk about us." Jo knew those old guys could gossip just as much as any old lady.

"I hadn't thought about that. Dad never talks much about what they do there." Chris gave it more thought.

"Mostly sit around, drink beer and talk about stuff. They do lots of charity work, and volunteer work." Jo chuckled; mostly they drank beer and solved all the world's problems from armchairs. They did do a great deal of work for charity, of all kinds really. They helped host events and things for smaller originzations.

"Have you thought of joining the lodge?"

"Not really, it is primarily older men. Though our fathers both joined when they were younger. I would think your grandfather got your dad into it." Jo slowed down as she looked for a close parking spot.

"He did." Chris looked at Joe after the truck had come to a stop. "Since they are lodge members, at least we know our fathers get along. I can't recall mine complaining about anyone from the lodge."

Jo smiled. "Well that is a good thing... Something on your mind?"

Chris blushed. "Yeah, if you didn't have to work so early I would have liked to invite you to stay a little longer."

"If I didn't have to work so early, I would gladly have accepted. The fact you have stuck it out with my lousy schedule really means a lot." Jo held Christina's hand and leaned over. "We'll have a night we can spend more time together, I promise."

"I'll hold you to it." Chris whispered and kissed Joe, and not just a quick peck either. "Good night."

"Good night cutie." Jo waited until Christina was inside the main doors of the apartment building before heading home. And for the first time, silently cursing having to go to work in the morning. At least she knew there was a light at the end of a long and cold tunnel, as work would be grinding to a halt shortly; the next big project didn't start until mid or late February. Some down time would be nice, catch up with her friends a little more and maybe get to see a little more of her ballerina.

Chris sighed as he closed the door to his apartment. He felt a little stupid for how poorly worded his invitation came out. He knew full well Joe couldn't stay the night... though he did now know the jackalope was thinking the same things he was. They seemed to be on the same page on where the relationship was heading. Their dates had not been consistent, but something really made him crave more physical intimacy. As he got ready for bed, it occurred to him that he had fallen quite hard for the welder.

With a passionate kiss still on her mind, Jo got up and ready for work. Thankful for a little extra time to get ready for work because she needed to spend a little time in the shower with her battery operated partner. Starting the day off right with an orgasm and good strong coffee on the way to work; inside, out of the damn cold wind.

This wasn't the first time she had been to the crane yard, though this would be the first time she would be doing something other than just trying to get equipment and operators scheduled for a job. This was the main company her father used for jobs whenever he could, so having worked with some of these guys in the past helped get settled in and lined out on what needed to be done. Jo was thankful that the jib just needed a couple of structural cracks welded and some gusseting done.

Chris was actually spending much of this week doing little dance and a whole lot of office work. He had good organizational skills and could type incredible quickly; the studio owners enjoyed having him help with some of the duties required to run the dance troupe. Chris usually handled most of the correspondence, and media outlets. Today he was writing up a little thank you note that would be ran in a couple papers.
