#3 of Final Chance

Here is Chapter 3 of Final Chance, I hope that you guys enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it, as usual any comments, faves or votes are much appreciated.

It is just before nine thirty pm and I am standing outside of Dieter's quarters, my right hand-paw raised to knock on the door but frozen in motion as I begin to overthink what I am about to do. I cannot deny the fact that I am already at half-mast as I think about the Doberman that is only being hidden from me by a wooden door.

I need to keep in mind what Dieter told me earlier, "We will talk about it tonight, and yes Craig I mean just talk", I know that earlier I was a cocky son of a bitch in my retort to Dieter but deep down inside I am scared, I don't want to ruin my chances of becoming Dieter's lover, but by the same measure I cannot afford to lose this job, and most certainly I do not need that Fox getting wind of my hopeful companionship with Dieter.

Suddenly there is a click as the door handle is operated, the door opens a little but requires me to push it fully open, Well Craig, theres no going back now bud, I gently push the door open and step inside, once inside I quietly close the door again and now I take in my new surroundings. Dieter's room is kept very tidy indeed, he has all of the usual items, TV, Stereo, Computer, Bed, Wardrobes, and a decent looking Sofa. The Sofa is currently occupied by the object of my desires.

"Well Craig, this is something that I didn't expect, it seems that you were just stood there in a trance."

How in the hell...I turn my head and look at the wall where the door is and I see a monitor screwed to the wall by the door, Get a grip Craig, of course, he has a camera covering his entrance door, you have one too remember? I must be more nervous than I first thought.

"Sorry Dieter, it's just that I really don't want or need anything to go wrong, literally if I screw this job up I end up in prison for five years, and the quickest way for me to screw things up would be with you, there are so many variables, like what if the Fox finds out about us, or what if I do something to upset you so much so that you would go to the authorities and tell them that I am some sort of predator."

Dieter stands from the sofa and approaches me, a look of understanding on his face, he then brings a sigle finger up to my muzzle effectively sushing me.

"Let me tell you, Craig, you do tend to overthink things quite a lot, first of all, you think that Gerald does not know that you are gay, trust me there ain't nothing that gets passed that Fox, he already knows about me and he is fine with it, if he wasn't then neither of us would be here, as for getting me upset that would take quite an effort, and even if you managed it I would certainly not be going to the authorities about you, because that would be like signing my own eviction papers, now please take a seat and we can talk about this more comfortably."

I take a seat on the very comfortable looking sofa and Dieter takes a seat next to me, a few moments pass with nothing being said until Dieter finally breaks the ice.

"When I first came to this place I was only a pup, my family life was not the best, I put up with it until the day of my tenth birthday, I can still recall it like it was yesterday and telling the story even now sends shivers down my spine."

Dieter takes a shaky breath to try and calm himself enough to carry on.

"My folks were both alcholics and my dad was a heavy smoker too, well on the day of my tenth birthday, as usual, I had no gifts or cards to open so I just made myself busy as I always did, I was in my bedroom when dad came in, he was way more drunk than usual, he was also smoking..."

Dieter's voice began to fade and I could see the wetness at the corner of his eyes, obviously the memory that he was bringing to the fore still hurt him to this day.

"...well he didn't have an ash tray to use so he used my arm instead."

To add weight to what he was telling me, Dieter, gently rolled up his left shirt sleeve and what I saw there on his arm turned my stomach over and over, there were a series of burn marks all up his arm and I had no doubt that I would find more on other parts of his body. I sat there totally frozen to the spot only coming out of my trance when Dieter continued talking.

"So that day I ran away, as luck would have it I was running around the streets of London and then I ran straight into Gerald...literally, he could see the tears in my eyes and the fact that I was holding my arm and in pain, without another word Gerald gently moved my paw away from my arm and rolled up my sleeve. Once he had seen enough he showed me his ID and said that there was a place that I could stay where I would be safe, I know that as pups we are always told never to go with strangers, but something about Gerald made me follow him."

Dieter takes another breath before continuing his story, this time he started to become a little brighter.

"When we got here Gerald was able to care for my wounded arm and I was greatful, obviously cigarette burns don't always heal properly and that is so in my case, but since the day that I arrived here with Gerald, I have remained safe and well fed, I was even allowed to carry on with my education. Once I was old enough Gerald gave me an offer, I could go out into the wide world and begin to fend for myself or I could stay here and help him with the day to day running of the place, well I wanted to repay the kindness and generosity that Gerald had shown me for all that time so I decided to stay."

What came over me I have no idea but I put a gentle handpaw on Dieter's left thigh, I guess I was trying to take away some of the pain that I know Dieter was still feeling, of course, I could have also got my ass handed to me and been thrown out, but something happened that told me that my intensions had been understood, Dieter laid his left handpaw atop of my handpaw.

"Okay Craig, you want a drink and maybe some pizza?"

The moment was broken I look into his eyes with astonishment.

"You can get pizza here?"

Dieter chuckles a little as he stands from the sofa.

"Oh hell yes, after all, we are staff and not prisoners here."

He then remembers the bracelet that I am wearing around my ankle and winces a little.

"Sorry bud, that was tactless of me."

I give a half-hearted giggle as I wave the comment off, then a look of realisation hits him.

"Actually Craig, if you want to go out for pizza then there is nothing stopping us, after all, you will be with me and the pizza place that I use is just five minutes away on foot so what do you say?"

What else could I say? I leapt from the sofa ready to follow my crush to the ends of the earth.

It is just before midnight when we arrive back at the facility, Dieter shows me where my living quarters are, just three doors down the hallway from his quarters, boo ya, we then go our seperate ways.

Once inside my room, I find that it is laid out in much the same way as Dieter's though obviously with not quite so much stuff, right at this moment though I don't care about my lack of trinkets as I am just so tired that I could probably fall asleep standing up, in the end, I just fall flat on my muzzle onto the bed without even changing and seconds later I am out like a light.

God only knows what time it was when I am woken up to the sound of someone knocking on my door, closely followed by the silky smooth voice of Dieter.

"Yo Craig, up and at 'em bud, I've been given the morning to help you get some much needed supplies, daylight is burning bud so shake your tail."

My sleep addled brain quickly runs to left field with the idea because I know that I can't afford any new stuff yet so what the hell is the point of going out shopping? But I guess it is spending time with Dieter so I head to my bathroom to get my morning routine completed and in ten minutes I am standing outside my door with one of the hottest looking guys in all the world.

I let out a small growl of lust and then follow that up with a chuckle.

"Who needs coffee to start the day when you have your very own jump starter."

Dieter bluishes under his fur.

"For the love of God Craig, don't go announcing it to the world, remember what we talked about last night, we could both find ourselves in very deep hot water."

I hold my forepaws up to forestall any further objections from my...companion, with that done we both head out towards the front door of the facility, again there is just a single furson manning the door, a rather bored looking Bull Dog, Dieter heads over to the Bull Dog and speaks to him.

"Chaz, I am taking Craig here into town as we need to get him some much needed supplies, Gerald knows about the trip so no need to worry, hopefully, we should be back by about 1 pm."

The Bull Dog just shrugs his shoulders and goes back to looking bored, as we walk past the dog and through the door I can't help but stop and remind the dog that I am the new warden for the facility and that he should be more alert, at this he sits up a little straighter and looks a little bit more alert, so Dieter and I carry on our shopping trip.

Fortunately, it doesn't take long for us to hit the town and I find out how I can afford the shopping trip, after all, Dieter hands me a company Credit Card.

"Now then Craig, at the moment because I am with you, you can use Gerald's Company Credit card, however, by the time you take over fully there will be a Company Credit card with your name on it, but I warn you now, only get the essentials, so stuff like some new smart clothes, and maybe a laptop too which can be used for work."

Dieter winks as if to say that the Company is okay with getting a laptop on the card as long as it can be used for work use, Dieter then continues to speak.

"If you want anything like a games system or a better PC for your own use then you will have to wait until you get your first pay cheque and pay for it yourself."

I let out a little sigh.

"Great so until I get my first pay I won't be getting any luxuries so that means that I will be in my room everynight looking as bored as that Bull Dog on the main door."

I can see a slight smile on Dieter's face, and I just know that he has some sort of plan worked out for that, what that plan is I guess only time will tell.
