I learned much about mekhane throughout my years of service to the queen. The old scriptures told of a time was he was a simple blacksmith who lived in fallen kingdom long ago. His admiration for the queen and her sudden jump to power so much that he spent entire months to forge the legendary eclipse saber. The advisor who was her at the time described in full detail what happened that day.

His eyes were completely sunken in from exhaustion, hands bruised and bloody from the non stop labor. He was presented the sword to her, kneeling down as sign of submission. “your Excellency, you are the manifestation of beauty and purity, this very world bows to your perfection. Please accept this blade as tribute to your unrivaled power!” They said that his voice Trembled the entire time but for some reason, Queen Helios applaud him! She grabbed onto the weapon and closely examine it, praising his unique craftsmanship.

It was believed that the queen brought the man back into her personal Chambers and never returned for days. Sounds of a man screaming out in horror, while also laughing like a lunatic could be heard within. Eventually, the blacksmith reappeared, looking completely different. I couldn't find any more information about him besides the fact that he was well known for the weapons he created and his continued conflict with an certain warlord. Some say that he's responsible for creating our moon just because the queen asked him to but I'm skeptical about that one.

Seeing him now was astonishing as he looked as though he didn't age a day in his life! However, his general appearance did make me a little curious. Both of his arms for example were literally glowing red hot, starting at the base of his elbow that ran all the way down to his hands which glowed the brightest.

It's like he shoved his arms inside a furnace for a Prolonged period of time without a care in the world, clearly there was something unnatural going on here but didn't dare question it.

“congratulations Sir Dex you and your friends are the first to wake. Although, our queen did summon me here to be of service to you in any way possible.” Mekhane said, kneeling down to feel the sand. “you? Under my command? I don't even know you that well and what's wrong with your arms?” I shot back. He was unfazed by my attitude as he grabbed a handful of soft substance before presenting it to me. “I'm sure that you are already aware that the nursery is in danger, the vermin will stop at nothing to destroy our second chance at life. Watch closely Dex as I show you the power of creation itself!”

The lump of sand resting on his palm started to move, vibrating as the seconds went on before the individual grains started to float slightly above the main pile. Suddenly, the grains of rapidly flew around mehkane's hand, forming an miniature vortex. “Even something as simple and bland as sand could be transformed into something perfect.” I thought my eyes were playing tricks on to what I just witness, although some parts of me wasn't surprised.

The pile of sand was replaced by a small dagger, the blade was yellowish is color but still looked sharped to the touch. However, the top of the blade was bent slightly which I quickly informed him about.

“I noticed that it looks kinda off. Maybe it's because you di-.”

“Do not speak such lies to me child. I am here to help, not argue .” Mehkane growled. It was clear that he was easily offended by my choice of words, if it wasn't for my title, mehkane would have ended my life right then and there.

“Our people shall rise up soon along with her majesty. You must be by her side when the time comes dex. As for me, I must go and clear a path for a better tomorrow! We will meet again very soon.” Mekhane finished before moving passed me and through the camp, walking out of sight.

The day went by surprisingly well with no known issues . I would hear an occasional explosion far off in the distance which did make me flinch every now and then. Even after dying and coming back again, the past still continues to haunt me. Vincent was arm wrestling with hunter, I could see the sweat running down his forehead as he struggled to gain the upper hand against his opponent. “I'm not even trying!” Hunter said playfully before flexing his arm to drag Vincent down to the ground.

“Arhhg!” He grunted as his face kissed the sand hard. “You alright buddy?” Hunter asked, his face quickly changed to concern, helping Vincent up and proceeded to brush off the sand. “I'm fine, I didn't know you were that strong hunter.”

“I'm just as surprised as you! It didn't take that much effort to do that. Sorry for manhandling you, first rounds are gonna be on me ya?” Hunter roared while everyone else cheered.b

I couldn't help but smile at them having fun. Not a single trace of despair on their faces, if it wasn't for our current predicament, this would be an normal day on the beach.

“Hey Dex! Check this out!” The medic hollered out from inside a nearby tent. I saw his head peering out from the opening, grinning from ear to ear as I moved closer. When we were alone, the medic handed me something before digging through an duffle bag. It was a photo of two tiger standing in what looks like a water park, one female who wore red two piece bikini while the other was male wearing some shorts. “Why are you showing me this?” I asked him as he pulled out a t-shirt and tossed it to the side. “From what i can see, the guy tiger used to sleep here. There's a good chance that he's already dead so which means…..the female is free!”

“You can't be serious. What makes you think that she'll fall for you when you are a human while she is an beastwoman? That'll never work out.” I argued but that creepy grin of his never left his face, eyes cold and full of lust. “What makes you think that I'm gonna win her over with my charm when I can just take her.” I was silent at this, trying to figure out what to say next but the medic continued before i had the chance. “Now hear me out Dex! We have tons of those teleportation doors scattered across the globe, It won't take me long to find what I'm looking for. All I'm asking is that you let me use one or two and that's it You don't even have to do anything at all so help a brother out!”

“Even if you find and somehow capture this woman, she's twice your size and not to mention, a fucking tiger! No doubt that she will pulverized you if you come anywhere near her.”

“That's where you're wrong Dex, anything with an will can be broken, those animals are no exception ehehe.” The medic laugh, holding a gold wedding ring up in the air before shoving it in his pocket. I know he wasn't like this before, something drastic must have happened when he was reborn or maybe this was his true self the whole time. “I'll think about it.”

“Thanks for considering man. Like I said, you don't have to do anything.” He reassured me. “Oh and another thing, I know I said that I wanted to become an doctor and all but I'm having a change of heart.”

“Really now? What career are you seeking then?”

“eh, probably somewhere in the entertainment industry, I'm not exactly sure yet.” He chirped as we both walked out of the tent and into the sunlight. “Hopefully all of this crap will blow over and we can finally rel-.” he was interrupted mid-sentence as the ground shook our feet followed by a low bellow. It was apparent that it was nursery doing its thing again. While i hanged back and watched from afar, the medic went over towards the rest of gang who gathered at the edge of the beach, overlooking the dome as it slowly began to sink. Some had confused expressions, wondering whether or not this was supposed to happen. I was in the same boat as well.

“How odd, it seems like the nursery had finished earlier than expected.” A voice boomed from behind, I jolted around to see the hulking figure of mehkane standing over me. “you startled me, please stop doing that and what do you mean!” I yelped while he stared at with that indifferent look. “ Once it had completed its task of creating humans, the nursery will then transport them to the location that I marked for it. As of right now, the population increased ten fold and should be getting acquainted in the city i built. What I find worrying is that it didn't take more than a week to finish.”

“What? H-how long does it usually take for the nursery do something like this.”

“From what I can remember, it took at least 10 years for it to produce 20 million people.” Mehkane said, rubbing his chin in thought. “The queen did say something about the nursery needing resources. So…..why not get more?” I sounded hopeful when I looked up to him but I was met with an uncomfortable silence for more than an minutes until he said something. “I am not qualified to answer that sir Dex. You must discuss it with her majesty and the abomination that has the nerve to call herself a knight.” He responded

“Then take me to her.” I demanded, ignoring the obvious animosity.

“Very well, I will guide your friends to the city and leave them to their own devices. Queen Helios should already be awake by now.” The man gestured for me to step through the entrance of a small tent. I dropped down on all fours to crawl through, leaving everyone behind. A eerie silence soon enveloped me, with the only sound I could hear was my breathing. It was too dark for me see where I was walking so I had both my arms out in front of me, hoping to touch something.

Eventually, my hands came into contact with something cold to the touch but also smooth. It took a second for me to realize that I was by a steel door. Without hesitation, I reached out to where the handle is supposedly located and pulled down. I cursed aloud as I saw the all too familiar concrete walls covering both sides of me with a young girl, no older than me stood close by. She. “It's good to see you again advisor. I take it that mehkane wasn't too hard on you.”

Wearing nothing but an slightly transparent silk robe that covered portions of her body, Queen Helios somehow looked as young as ever! Yet, her beauty was unmistakable. “Your majesty. It is with great pleasure to see you again. If I may ask, what happened to you?”

“ It takes time for this body to regenerate after turning to dust Dex. I didn't think that my enemies would resort to such things just to get rid of me. They thought that it would be the end of my rein but failed to comprehend how strong humanity's might was at time. The insects died painful deaths while I still stand victorious.” The Queen said, walking away from me, I followed close behind. “I had multiple opportunities to came back but choose not to because I saw no reason to, until now.”

“Then you must know why im here!”

“Yes, to put it bluntly, the nursery ran out of resources and needs more to continue.” It was faint but I could heard the hesitation in her voice. “If that's the case then lets get more my queen!”

I wish it was that simple Dex. I destroyed so much and conquered so many. All for the sake of survival, but Even after putting forth that effort, they still crumble, wondering why they fell. The countless times I had to rewrite their history, to alter their memories just to make them feel superior. Things will be different now that I'm here Dex .” I was so focused on the conversation that I didn't notice the metal double door in front of us. Queen Helios stood there, staring at its large frame.

“They must never know the truth Dex. To know how cruel this world really is, to know how inferior they are. They cannot know what I did to bring them back.”

All I could say was ‘why’. She glanced my way, making my heart turn skip a beat but from fear her wraith but fear of her answer. “A ruler must think for the betterment of her subjects, no matter the cost. I will scorch every single beast in hell fire if it means ensuring the future of my children.” The Queen finished before pushing the doors open.
