Alpha looked down the holographic sights of her beam pistols and pulled the trigger in sequence, the deadly light cut through a Breeder warrior punching holes in it's armoured carapace. "I know what your talking about mom, but unless something is done about the Security Force, i hate to say this out loud but......the Sabre Scouts are doing good for the city." "You mean the Security Force that can't seem to handle stamping out the Breeders without the Sabre Scouts in the background." Nina pointed out. Chief Anderson exhaled. "Your not wrong, it wasn't always like this you know, the Security Force i joined when i was your age didn't have these problems. Most of the funding today goes to the Mobile Brigades outside the city and the defence platforms. Arrogance and opulence will destroy this city and we will be powerless to help people."
Nina never heard her mother talk like this, it was as if she was getting through to her, or maybe they were more alike then she gave her credit for. "Just like the great fall...." Chief Anderson smiled at her. "So you do pay attention to your lessons, this is why we must remain strong at all costs, to protect and serve those that are too weak and stupid to defend themselves FROM themselves." There was a moment of silence between them, then. "Nina, my reports tell me that there are now four Sabre Scouts, why was there only three at the shopping palace?" Why was she asking this? Why her? This took a weird turn, like she could sense something about her. Does she know? Is it mother's intuition? Or was she just that good at her job. ".....and put the marines on alert, they will no doubt try to board us!" Two of the female officers looked at each other hearing this.
The stars once again lit up with a field of explosions from the platforms rapid firing flak guns as streams of blue light burst from it's main artillery batteries. The giant bug rocks floated and turned as they converged on the first line of earth's defence. A metal object floating near one of the rocks drifted into it with a flashing green light as it suddenly exploded with a brilliant bright light, the Breeder asteroids were rocked by the nuclear explosion. Commander Val had ordered the deployment of a mine field for such just an occasion, she proved to be prophetic. More of the bright nuclear explosions were set off, disintegrating the incoming asteroids in large swaths. The aliens pressed the attack, as smaller rocks broke off and tried to run the flak barrier, being chewed up by the many explosions. Darts of light from the flanks and from above and below skirted the flak barrier as the teams of beam rifle armed mecha suits performed their own swarming tactics, singling out targets and overwhelming them with concentrated fire. The large double barrelled beam cannons fired recoiling as the crews inside worked feverishly. Commander Val was silent as she watched the holo-screens and all the information they provided. "I hope you see that!" Defence platform H-1 was struck! The Breeders that were released from the destroyed rocks could somehow survive in space for a short time and still be a threat, as the mecha suits worked to destroy the asteroids and fight a desperate battle with free floating creatures in the blackness.
On board the defence platform, the only lights illuminating the corridors was the emergency lights along with sparks and flames, as exhaust billowed out from fractured pipes. The technicians looked at each other. "We are going to get fired for this aren't we?" Beta snapped her fingers and put her holo-tablet back into her tech holster. Nina's mother sat in front of the holo-screen with Leon looking back at her." Where is my daughter? Why are you alone?" Leon looked nervous. "Uh....i....i promised i wouldn't say." I have also ordered H-2 and H-3 to change orbital stance and when given the order, they will use their collective gun batteries to destroy H-1." He then turned to chief Anderson. "Your team has three hours to complete any rescue mission, after that, it will be over, one way or another." "What about the people on board?" She pressed back. "Acceptable losses I'm afraid....."

After being informed of the situation the Sabre Scouts were able to venture out into the hulking combat station.
