19- Shattered Reunion
#21 of The Legend of Rift Book II: Resurrection
Rift stepped into the grassy floor of the forest. He let the portal close as he let out a sigh. The dragon began making his way through the woods, following the faint scent of his friend.
I should have never let her near him.
Sithris shivered as Zaheera pawed at his chest. She smirked, licking it before moving her head to his. With a sensual purr, she pressed her maw against his passionately. The black dragon moaned, wrapping his tongue around hers.
Zaheera panted and pulled away, eliciting a needy whine from the drake. She rolled onto her back and spread her legs.
"Please your queen."
Rift sprinted across the forest, panting. Seeing the entrance to Sithris' home, he slammed into it, shattering it to splinters.
Please don't be too late.
Sithris trembled, Zaheera's feminine juices coating his muzzle. He looked down at her, the dragoness halting her pleasure and standing. With a couple steps, she was on him. She smiled and shared a nod with Sithris.
Zaheera aligned herself, looking as Sithris as she began to lower. Sithris went still as she took his tip. He was finally about to mate a dragoness.
Both froze as the door was launched off it's hinges, slamming Zaheera into the wall. Sithris spun his head around and gulped. Rift stepped in, flames around his paws, snarling in disgust.
"Sithy, get out. I don't want you to see this."
Zaheera groaned and pushed herself up, dark magic swirling around her. She wanted to destroy the pest, but knew she needed Sithris to. She feigned injury, limping over to the black dragon and collapsed.
Sithris growled at Rift, eyes already changing and runes forming on his scales. The house shook from his power, glass containers falling over and shattering. "You hurt her. You are dead."
Rift covered his head with his wings, the claws of his friend already shredding his membrane. He was caught off guard however, as a tail wrapped around his paw, tripping him. An uppercut slammed into his jaw, dazing him.
Sithris snarled and took advantage, slamming his head into Rift's chest, knocking him across the room. The corrupted dragon laughed, quickly speeding over to the recovering orange. He wrapped his tail around Rift's neck, squeezing off the drake's air supply.
Rift flailed and yelled, trying unsuccessfully to breath. His lungs ran dry quickly. The orange dragon began to fade, his mind starting to slip away. His body switched into survival mode, energy swelling.
The black dragon hissed. Flames surrounded his victim, body curling up. The flames launched outwards in a fury, sending Sithris back. Rift collapsed, trying to work air back in his lungs. Sithris jumped up and quickly slammed a paw into Rift's side, grinning as he heard cracking.
"Guess you aren't as durable as I originally took you for. That had to have been at least a couple ribs I heard snap."
Rift could barely catch his breath, each attempt ended with a stabbing pain in his chest. He clenches his eyes and coughed. There was a strong scent of iron. Blood, his blood. The drake yelped as another paw slammed into him, more blood expelled from his maw.
Sithris grabbed the orange dragon's neck with his maw, shaking him around before smashing him to the ground. He grinned as he saw Rift's chest darken more. With a grunt, he mule kicked Rift's head. The orange dragon was barely conscious, but paralyzed, his neck busted.
The black dragon stepped over and laughed maniacally, grabbing Rift's tail, placing a claw against the tailspade. He looked over at Rift's face and froze. The orange dragon had his eyes closed, awaiting his demise.
Sithris grunted and released the tail, stepping back as he whipped his head around. He roared as a combination of purple smoke and electricity surrounded him. His runes slightly faded and one of his red eyes returned to his normal black. He clenched them.
The black dragon floated and curled up, the smoke and electricity shrinking. He shot his eyes open, both black. With a roar, he expelled the smoke. "YOU WILL NOT HARM HIM FURTHER!"
Zaheera growled, her plan foiled. "You... This wasn't supposed to happen. You were supposed to kill him and serve under me and Keltin! Gahhhh!"
Sithris turned to her, heartbreak obvious in his eyes. "So... you used me to kill my friend? You're also mated with Keltin?"
The blue dragoness snarled and slapped him across the face. "You just now understand? You're more oblivious than you look. I was to lay with you and gain control of your other form, making you my personal pet. But now, you're just a sad excuse of a dragon that can't do anything right."
Zaheera froze, realizing her mistake as her verbal abuse was answered with red eyes.
The Warped Sithris grabbed her muzzle with a paw, squeezing tightly. "No more talking. Now what you have just admitted to was betrayal of trust. We can't let that go unpunished, can we? Normally I like slow and painful, but you are something special. You see, I don't want to see you anymore. So... be gone."
Zaheera screeched as another paw squeezed her throat and slammed her to the ground. Her eyes went wide, feeling the maw of the black drake against hers. The blue dragoness felt her throat crush under the weight, her final breath caught in a kiss of death.
Sithris sighed as his normal self returned, letting the body of Zaheera go limp. He shook the tears from his eyes, wanting to forget the dragoness that was Zaheera. A faint wheezing caught his attention. His orange companion struggling to breathe.
The black dragon ran to his side, looking at the damage. His face paled. "Most ribs broken, shoulder shattered, lungs punctured, neck... snapped... I am so sorry."
He gasped as he looked to the orange dragon's chest. The majority of the silver chest plates were covered with taint. "Rift... I-i didn't mean to."
A sparkling crystal caught his attention. He watched as the crystal on Rift's chest seemed to flash. The black dragon couldn't resist, touching it. The room flashed.
He opened his eyes and stared in awe. By the doorway stood an equally stunned silver dragon. The new drake looked around in confusion before setting his eyes on the barely breathing body.
"No, Rift!"
