In the years since Dr. Eggman's defeat, Amy Rose returned to some semblance of regular life. Though she is imbued with magical powers granted to her by the Ring of Acorns and has been a hero many times over, the young woman decided to get back into her studies and go to school in Station Square. So, it didn't cause Vanilla too much suspicion when Cream said she was going to visit the hedgehog during Spring Break.
"Remember, dear, you have your own studies to consider," Vanilla had told her.
"Ugh, don't worry about me, Mom. Seriously, I can handle myself just fine. Besides, Amy will make sure I'm on my best behavior, alright?"
"Oh, I'm sure she will," Vanilla said. Cream had to hope that didn't mean her mom had already gotten to her old friend.
When Cream finally arrives on the platform to Station Square, she's almost immediately grabbed by the pink hedgehog. While Amy had magically aged herself up when she was only eight years old, the slight age difference she had endured became much less pronounced, and actually serves to enhance her sense of maturity.
"Cream. Oh, wow, you've grown so much since I left New Mobotropolis!" Amy squeals, holding the rabbit close.
"It's great to see you too. C… Can you let me go? I can't breathe!"
"Oops!" Amy steps back, bouncing on her boots, her smile as bright as always. She's switched her old style for the college girl look, looking beautiful, but dressing comfortably in a tank-top and skirt. "So, what did you want to talk about?"
Cream adjusts her backpack and walks alongside the hedgehog as they make their way out to the busy streets of the city, their small Mobian forms dwarfed by the human residents. Amy led the two of them over towards a cafe, where they both ordered drinks and got caught up in their lives. Halfway through her tea, Cream begins her own discussion. "Oh, well, there's something I've wanted to know recently."
"Yeah?"
"Well, I had my birthday a few months ago."
"Right, right…"
“So, I'm 18, now."
“Sure, so…?"
"So, I was kinda wondering what sort of things are here for adults to do."
Amy coughs, dropping her coffee and patting her chest. "Ah… w… what? Adult? Cream, you can't be serious. Your mom would kill me if we did anything to corrupt her baby and-"
"That's fine. I think my mom wants me to do more adult things."
“Oh, right, you mean grown up things. Sorry. Forget I said anything, so what first?"
“Is there a red-light district here?"
"I… okay, hold up. You're going to have to fill me in on what exactly is going on."
"Last month, Mom came here to Station Square. She was going to Casinopolis. Just so she can make sure that I wasn't up to any wrongdoing, she dropped me off at the D'Coolette farm."
Slightly more relieved, Amy goes back to her coffee. "Ah…? And, uh… how are Antoine and Bunnie doing, nowadays?"
Cream thumbs the rim of her teacup. "Well, Bunnie tastes wonderful, and Antoine's got a dick that won't quit."
Amy slams her drink down, rubbing her temples. "Wait! You mean you and they-"
Cream nods, picking up her tea and giving it a quick sip. She keeps one eye on Amy, checking her reaction. "Yes. It was quite educational, actually."
Amy clears her throat, gathering up her mug. "W-well, that's certainly much more information than I needed to hear, but… your mom, then… she… I don't get her, then."
Amy buries her face in her mug, sipping very, very slowly.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out. If I know what Mom's doing in Station Square, maybe I could get into her mindset better."
"Did you ever, like, consider asking her?"
"W… why would I d-do that?" It's Cream's time to bury her face into her drink. The two women glance away from each other. The remainder of their coffee break becomes a mixture of quiet and quick responses to inane questions.
Eventually, though, Amy has to end the awkwardness. "Look, Cream, I promised you a fun time here in Station Square. Let's just leave this talk out of it for now and just enjoy ourselves, okay? Besides, it's not like Casinopolis is even open. You have to wait until night, you know…?"
"Haha, yeah, you're right." Cream says. "Sorry, Amy. I just… no. We're going to have fun, darn it!"
"That's the spirit!" Amy says, standing up. She holds her hand out, and Cream clasps it. "Come on. Let's GIRL!"
And so, the two enjoy a fun-filled day, shopping and exploring the cultural centers of the city, including the famous statue burger joint and the Perfect Chaos memorial. Eventually, though, they find themselves at the entrance to Twinkle Park.
"Aw man, look at this place," Amy says, shaking her head. "It used to be so cool when I was a kid."
"Couples get in free?" Cream says, scratching her chin while she reads the sign. "That's strange. How can they tell if people are a couple?"
Amy shrugs. "I guess it's the honor system, you know? Though, if people were to exploit it, I doubt they would've lasted this lo-hey!"
Cream grabs Amy's hand, a slight, mischievous giggle parting from her lips. "C'mon, let's break the rules!"
"W… what? Cream?"
"Oh, come on. You're the mature one here. What's a little white lie once in a while?" She tugs on Amy, who follows her, stumbling into the elevator. The hedgehog plays with one of her quills, twirling it nervously as they lift high above the streets to the entrance of the park.
