Guardians Downfall Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Date: December 3, 2776
Location: UGSM Serenity, Bridge.
Captain Scheck watched as the Human vessel blew apart in front of the Serenity, he knew that they had no choice but to destroy it, still didn't make it the morally right thing to do. The planet had just rotated so that Wachter was in the sun light, and the cities, towns, and villages beneath the Serenity were now enshrouded in darkness. Behind the Serenity there were two moons that reflected the Sun's light towards the darkened area's. He took a deep breath, and released it. He tapped a command on the panel on the side of his seat. "Damage report?" He asked.
"minor damage Captain, shields are holding at eighty percent." Replied a Lieutenant.
"Trajectory for debris?" He asked the Lieutenant.
"Most of it will drift away from the planet, few hull fragments will impact planetary shield. No threat to the planet sir." Responded the Lieutenant.
"Perfect, prepare to raise stations back to bridge." Captain Scheck said as he keyed the com unit off. There was a small metallic clicking and the hatch above him opened up, and the monitors in front of him showing him the space around the Serenity in a full three hundred and sixty degree view turned off. His chair rose back up, along with all duty stations for the bridge out of their protective cocoons and he saw the entire bridge crew. It was unsettling, despite the attempts to make the confined space seem more open, but he knew that it was best. They had just gotten the mechanism to work properly and he was grateful, it was designed to protect the bridge crew in the event that shields failed and there was a direct hit towards the bridge. The cocoons as he called them, would give them life support and allow the crew to continue working despite the majority of the bridge area being vacant of all atmosphere. "Get damage control teams going, signal HQ to let them know we have eliminated the last enemy vessel in this area and will move back into position with the rest of the fleet to engage remaining hostiles." He ordered. There was a quick response and everyone continued working. So far, they had managed to eliminate around eighty-five percent of the enemy forces in space, and the ground warfare was going well with the estimated casualties of the hostile forces being near ninety percent. He hoped it would continue going well, and that this fight would be over.
He scratched the back of his head and sighed, it didn't make sense to him. The majority of enemy combatant ships were Human vessels that had sided with Whitcomb. It was strange to him, and he had a nagging feeling building up inside of him. Ensign Nielson motioned towards him, "Sir, Admiral Harper is requesting to speak with you and all other squad commanders." He told him.
Captain Scheck nodded, "Very well, put it into my ready room." He ordered as he stood up from his chair and walked towards the door that lead to his ready room. Once inside, there were several people there, all holographic, silent. "Admiral Harper, Captain James William Scheck reporting."
The Admiral who stood at the center of the group turned towards him and nodded, "Captain Scheck, we have disturbing news. The Unity recently got a transmission out to us, they state they've found the Lothian main fleet, bad news is, the last sensor readings indicated that there are over eight hundred vessels gathering. Intelligence was correct, the forces that attacked here were mainly Human vessels, and are afraid that these Lothians vessels will make an attack soon."
Scheck's heart felt like it was racing, he was right! "Sir, we still outnumber them." He said.
Admiral Harper looked at Captain Scheck and shook his head, "We do, but almost all of our ships have taken damage, some minor, some major. These enemy ships are in perfect condition. We may outnumber them, but their crews are well rested, their ships at peak performance, we are at a disadvantage Captain Scheck. We have sent word to Earth to reinforce us with newer vessels while we start cycling out the most heavily damaged vessels over to the nearest shipyards outside of the combat area. They will arrive in two hours. Captain Tiera, you will escort the First Fleet to the Jupiter Docks for repairs.-" Admiral Harper continued giving out orders to the Captains there, who would escort who, who would remain behind at Leben to defend, and then everyone but Admiral Harper vanished. He turned to face Captain Scheck and grinned. "You get another good assignment Captain Scheck." He said.
Captain Scheck gave him a weary smile in return, "I'm not gonna like this, am I sir?" He asked.
Admiral Harper chuckled, then the grin vanished, and Scheck could see in his eyes that he was regretting whatever he was about to tell him. "You'll be rendezvousing with the Epsilon Indi Defense Armada. They are leaving the Epsilon Indi System immediately to meet you at Yurin Station. From there you will lead the Armada to the Epsilon Aurigae System and immediately assault the gathering enemy forces." He told Scheck.
Captain Scheck blinked, his mouth slightly open in surprise. "Admiral Harper, sir, the Epsilon Indi Armada? That's eight hundred ships sir. Wouldn't it be best to send them to Leben with the rest of the reinforcements? Bolster the numbers here?" He asked.
Admiral Harper shook his head, "The enemy force believes that we will not engage them. That we will wait. If we do a preemptive strike against them, it'll shake them up. Now, in no way am I saying committ suicide Captain. You will engage the enemy forces, but the moment you believe it is best, you are to pull out immediately and return to Leben with the remaining ships. Don't do anything too stupid." He told Scheck.
Scheck sighed and nodded, "Guessing I can't say 'I'm choosing to pull us out now.' huh?" He said.
Admiral Harper chuckled, "Sadly no. There is one more thing Captain Scheck." He said. Captain Scheck prepared himself for more bad news. "As of this moment, you are granted the Field Promotion of Admiral."
Scheck's mouth dropped, Admiral?! "Sir....thank you." He said.
Admiral Harper grinned, then said "Congratulations. Carry on Admiral." And he too, vanished.
Scheck nodded to himself and walked out onto the bridge. "Alright everyone, we have new orders."
Location: Ahkiran Mountain Range, Argota Base
Colonel Talia stood in front of the large view screen, the command crew working at their station behind her. The White Fox examined the ongoing storm, and gave a soft shiver. Radar showed that they still had several more hours before the storm would even lighten up. But then again, in this region, this time of year, these storms were frequent, and it wasn't the first one she dealt with. She looked off to her left were communications officer worked on getting communications back with HQ in Wachter, and smiled at the handsome Wolf. She always had a thing for him, but could never truly act on it, especially now. She looked over to her right and saw the Human Tactical officer examining the information from the Radar Dish on top of the base, checking for any hostiles that could be out there. However, she doubted that there were any left after that last engagement between Gamma Company and Knight Squad. They assured her that she wouldn't have to worry about anymore hostiles, and she did believe them, but it never hurt to be too cautious. There was no way to currently call out for help, especially after the storm knocked out communications. It was a bit strange, in all the storms that they went through here, none of them had damaged communications like this one. She focused back on the storm outside, examining it the best she could. It was a total whiteout but the viewscreen had certain visuals that allowed them to see through it. Her ears twitched as the Human Tactical Officer gasped quietly and turned to face him. "Issue Sergeant Powell?" She asked.
Sergeant Powell glanced up at her then back at the monitor in front of him. "Ma'am, we have contacts coming in from the North."
Colonel Talia studied the man, then said "That can't be. Last report stated that all enemy contacts were eliminated, and we aren't expecting a supply run until next month."
Sergeant Powell shook his head, "Unidentified Ma'am. Contacts don't match any known Contacts. It's strange, they're bigger than a Kria, and are in a V formation. We should have contact in the next hour." He said to her.
Colonel Talia gave a soft sigh, "Bring the base up to Condition Red, all hands combat stations." She ordered. Sergeant Powell acknowledged and began the general announcement.
Akutenshi sat next to Cale who was fast asleep in the bed, holding his paw gently, while Haki stared out at the storm which had reached its peak. Snow blasted against the windows, the wind howled, thunder crackled, and lightning streaked across the sky. It had been several hours since Akutenshi had given a part of his life over to Cale to help him. He had no idea if the Lord of Time would grant him the extra years or not, nor did he care. He had his husband, and that was good enough for him. He yawned looked out the window to see the sunlight barely making it through the dark storm clouds, and relaxed. Hopefully the storm would be over soon. Just as he was about to get up and get something to drink, the lights dimmed, and an alarm sounded.
"Attention, all personnel, report to Combat Stations, Condition Red. This is not a drill, unidentified Contacts inbound to base. Repeat, all Personnel, report to Combat Stations, unidentified Contacts inbound to base." Came a voice over the intercom.
Akutenshi growled and looked at Haki who stood up immediately, and they both nodded as Haki ran out the room, and Akutenshi looked back at Cale who had woken up. "I'll be back soon hun." Akutenshi told Cale.
Cale nodded, then said "Be careful."
Akutenshi kissed him on the forehead and immediately left the room. The hallways were bustling with activity, Army personnel jogging down the hallways, weapons in hands and paws, medical staff running past them when they had the chance to check on patients, and a group of pilots heading down the hallway towards the landing pad, Lupin with them. Haki came running back to Akutenshi, holding two plasma rifles in his paws, and handed one to Akutenshi. He took it and checked to make sure it was charged, and ready. They both jogged down the hall, following the military personnel. Outside, Anti-Air guns came to life, swiveling towards the North, and charging. A shield enveloped the entire base, opening up in a small section to allow aircraft to head out which moved back and forth as they fought against the wind. The snow no longer getting near the base due to the shield. Several mech's out in the yard came to life and began to take positions around the base. They eventually came to an entrance where Soldiers had positioned themselves to fire at any hostile that attempted to enter through it, and they joined them.
.........................
Colonel Talia stood at the center of the command room, looking at the readouts that had appeared on the viewscreen, and waited. Suddenly, out of the clouds, came a scaley beast with massive wings that breathed fire which slammed against the shields. The AA guns opened fired, their shots going through the shield and hitting their target. The Creature seemed to roar with anger as it broke off. "By the Gods," She gasped, "That's not possible." Everyone else in the Command Center gaped at the display. The creatures scales were red, shimmering in the storm. It was both majestic, and frightening. "Report!" She shouted.
"No damage to target, think all we did was piss it off. Shields are holding!" Reported Sergeant Powell. As she glanced at him, another scaley beast with green scales dove out of the clouds and fired a dark purple flame that seemed to stick onto the shields. "Shields are now taking damage, down to ninety-five percent!" the purple material left by the flame dissipated and the red scaled beast swooped down and a jet of red flame roared from it's mouth and slammed against the shields, again the AA guns opened fire on the creature and it broke off. "Shields are now at eighty-seven percent!" Reported Sergeant Powell. Colonel Talia stood there, eyes wide with fear as a black scaled beast came down and, out of its mouth, came an acidic green flame that stuck to the shields, and Colonel Talia knew it was acid of some kind at how it seemed to eat away at the shields. "Shields are down to seventy-five percent, they are falling still!" The same repeated, AA guns fired driving the scaled beast away, and a blue one took its place, firing lightning at the shields, same procedure, AA guns open fired, the beast retreated. Then a white scaled beast swooped from the clouds and beams of ice escaped its mouth and slammed against the shields. "Shields are down to twenty-one percent! We can't take much more Colonel!" Reported Sergeant Powell.
"Are the pilots ready?" Asked Colonel Talia.
"Affirmative, fighters and mech's are armed and ready to leave immediately!" Responded Sergeant Powell.
"Deploy!" She ordered. Off to the left of the view screen, fighters and mech's launched and flew past them, towards the monsters, and Colonel Talia watched as explosions rippled the sky. The AA Guns continued to fire as the monsters came close to the base, and the shields rippled, and started to fail after only just two more attacks. "Repair crews, stand by!" She said over the communications, received a set of acknowledgements as the black monster swooped in and took out the shields, and one of their AA Guns, however taking damage itself. It's scales seemed to burn away around it's chest and it roared in pain. The fight continued.
.......................................
The base shook again, and again, as the fight outside continued, Akutenshi and Haki stood there, weapons ready with all the other soldiers, waiting for the enemy to land and come to them. Akutenshi could hear the roar of some kind of monster, and he stood there thinking about what it could be, and after only a few minutes of thinking, feeling the ground beneath him shake with another hit, he knew what they were. Beasts of legend, supposedly once roamed Leben freely, but were destroyed during the Battle of Gods, or so the story went, they were called Dragons, the same ones he and Lupin ran into back in the badlands. He looked over at Haki, and tapped his shoulder. Haki turned to face him, a puzzled look on his face, and Akutenshi whispered to him, "Dragons, as it stands, we have no chance of taking them out....."
Haki studied Akutenshi, lifting an eyebrow, "Unless....?" He asked.
"I have to get out there, now." Akutenshi responded.
Haki's eyes widened, "What?!" He asked.
Akutenshi put his paws up, trying to calm him, "If what I was told is true, as a Protector my job is to defend innocent people, to try and keep the balance. As it stands, that balance is tilting towards Evil. I need to get out there, and do what I can to stop them." He told Haki.
"Well......shit!" Haki said as he looked away. "I'm guessing there is no way I can talk you out of this?" He asked Akutenshi.
Akutenshi shook his head, "There isn't." He responded.
Haki sighed annoyingly, "Then I'm coming with you, Cale would kick my ass if I let you go out there alone."
Akutenshi smiled and nodded, "Try not to get in my way." He told Haki. "Let's go."
With that, he stood up and began walking towards the metal doors in front of the group, a few of the soldiers voiced concerns, some even yelling at him not to, but Haki walked up behind Akutenshi, leaving his cover, and raised his paws up in a calming motion to the group. Akutenshi touched the locking mechanism and unlocked the door. Outside, the roars of the Dragons were louder than anything, the AA Guns, or whatever was left of them, fired continuously. A fighter came spiraling towards the base and crashed into the ground in a brilliance of flames. Akutenshi hoped it wasn't Lupin's fighter, and walked outside, into the unruly cold snow storm, and looked up at the sky seeing the explosions continue rippling through the dark clouds. The lightning, which had been blue and white, was now red, streaking across the sky almost as if causing the explosions themselves. Akutenshi could barely make out the Dragons that flew above the base, but they seemed to know he was outside now as he could see a Black Dragon angling towards him, followed by a Blue and White dragon. All going to him. He felt an overwhelming urge to raise his right paw, feeling a build up of magical energy. He aimed it towards the three dragons as they roared, getting ready to fire everything they had at him. Streaks of Acid green, brilliant white bolts of lightning, and bright blue streaks of ice came at him, and he closed his eyes as the area around him and, now Haki who had walked up next to him, weapon ready, picked up even more than the storm itself almost knocking Haki off his feet. A large brilliant green colored magic circle appeared only two hundred feet ahead of him, spinning, and beginning to alter color into gold as a blinding light flashed and a barrier formed from the circle and covered him and Haki as well as the entrance to the base. The different flames connected with the barrier, and arched around it striking at the ground in front of it and into the base itself. Akutenshi could hear the screams of the soldiers inside the entry way that they had left as the ceiling came down upon them. He gritted his teeth in anger as tensed up, and the flames seemed to get absorbed into the center of the barrier, then arched towards the magical circle then back towards the dragons, followed by a brilliant bright green, blue, and white beam that struck into the White Dragon. It let out a loud, terrifying scream of agony as the acid ate away at it's scales and skin, the lightning coursed through its body, destroying its organs from the inside, and the ice froze what remained solid. It plummeted towards the ground, no more sound, no more movement, just an ice statue. When it hit, it burst into thousands of pieces scattered across the ground. Akutenshi took a sharp inhale of breath, and let it out as he lowered his arm, and stepped forward.
He had to do what was needed to end this fight, and soon. The other two Dragons had broken off and decided to attack the command center which stood at the front of the base, and Akutenshi gasped as it blew apart. He could hear the screams of those inside that slowly faded away as sections of the building melted away by the acid, and could see a few of the bodies frozen solid, with the same acid eating away at them slowly. Horror etched into their faces. He gritted his teeth, anger coursing through him even more so now, a burning hatred for these bastards. He could feel another magical build up inside of his body, and allowed it to continue as he walked further out onto the base grounds, towards the courtyard, and could feel the cold biting at him as he began to float off the ground. He stopped moving his legs, allowing his mind to control where he flew too, and went up. His red markings on his right arm shining brilliantly, and they soon began to morph and cover the rest of his body. His eyes now a glistening red glow, he was going to end this now. He raised his right paw in the direction of the black Dragon which had swung around to go after him, its white teeth glinting in the lighting of the base, a moderately sized magical circle appeared in front of him, and he started to mutter an incantation. The Black Dragon got closer and closer, Akutenshi's heart was pounding away at his chest as he finished the incantation, and suddenly, a Red Wolf shot out from the circle, it howled as it raced towards the dragon, flames now burning all around it, and it made a leaping motion towards the Black Dragon, and grabbed it with its mouth, biting into its neck. The Black Dragon howled in agony as blood dripped from where the Red Wolf had bit, and plummeted towards the ground where the Wolf wrapped its body around the Dragon, biting deeper into its neck, and then exploded in a firey inferno. The Black Dragon let out one final howl of pain and was incinerated, leaving only its bones on the ground. The Red Wolf reformed over the skeleton of the Dragon, and howled out in victory as began to run in the air towards the Blue Dragon. The Blue Dragon didn't have much time to react before the Red Wolf snapped its jaws shut on its throat and brought it down onto the ground and explode in a firey inferno. Once again, all that remained was the skeletal remains of the Dragon with splatters of blood surrounding them. The Red Wolf formed again over the body, and made its way towards the Red Dragon.
There was a sudden beam of bright blue light that shot from on top of the Red Dragon that pierced through the Red Wolf, and the Wolf exploded in the air, and didn't reform. The magical circle faded and Akutenshi looked up at the Red Dragon and watched as it tore through several fighters and mechs and made its way towards the ground, and landed. Akutenshi lowered himself down in front of the Dragon, and looked at its wild red and gold eyes. Its nostrils flared and it bellowed out as a figure descended from its back. She was a White Wolf, donned in Black and Red heavy armor which she moved in relative ease. Her blue hair on top of her head gently moved in the breeze, her eyes silver. She walked up to Akutenshi, her armored paw empty. "Protector." She said, her voice sounded like it was made of ice, almost completely emotionless.
"Who are you?" Asked Akutenshi.
She smirked, then said, "My name is Elena."
Akutenshi stared at her, the name sounded familiar. He thought it over for a minute, her standing there almost looking like she was impatient, then he remembered. "During the Battle of The Gods, you were a Paladin of Tiamat. One of the last few that remained." He said to her.
Elena chuckled at that, and placed her paws on her hips. "Correct. I was cursed to become the Dragon Rider of The Elders by the goddess. Attached to Sin himself after the war was lost. Sin thought you were a Protector, so I set out to find out if you were." She said.
Akutenshi stared into her silver eyes, then said "Elena, you set out to see if I was who Sin claimed me to be, but was the cost worth it?"
Elena scoffed, "To be honest, the next time Sin is released, they'll just regenerate and return like they are supposed to. And, well, I wanted them dead." She said. "I want to be free from this curse, but the only way to do so is, well," She chuckled, "To have the Protector themself kill me in battle."
Akutenshi stepped back from her, surprised. "What?" He asked.
Elena sighed and looked down, "I have been forced into this curse, as it is with most curses on people, The only salvation I have to finally be free is to be killed by you. However I can't just allow you to kill me." She said as she reached for the blade that was in its sheath attached to her belt. "Be ready for combat, and know that I won't go easy."
She drew her blade before Akutenshi could speak and swung at him. He ducked to the side to avoid it, and raised his right paw towards the blade as it changed direction and came towards him. It connected with an invisible barrier that he had generated with magic. His eyes still glowing, the marking's from his right arm now fully enveloping his body. She swung at him again, and again. He dodged, again and again, unable to find an opening to hit her. They continued this dance for several minutes before she faltered and he saw his opening. He slammed the palm of his paw into her side, and an invisible force pushed her away, sending her flying across the ground. He heard the Red Dragon roar and felt it walking towards him. He turned to face it and raised his left paw towards it, and the Red Wolf appeared from the magical circle that had formed in front of him and attacked the Red Dragon. The two fought it out, the Red Wolf getting a few good hits in, same with the Dragon. He turned back to face Elena who was charging at him, and raised his right paw and the magic within him released a spiraling red beam of light towards her. She ducked out of the way of it and it collided with the wall of the base, exploding. She continued her charge towards him, and he moved out of the way just in time, the tip of the blade barely missing him. He punched her in the side and she doubled over falling. She got up and took a defensive stance towards him, the emblem of Tiamut on her chest glowing, then a bright blue flame enveloped her sword and she swung at him. He could feel the immense energy from the blade as it barely grazed his cheek as he dodged. He backed up and felt a surge of pain shoot through the small cut on his cheek and suddenly, the cut became a gash. He screamed out in pain as his vision blurred and he tried to focus on her. He saw her walking towards him, blade still in paw, a frown on her face, and her eyes sad. As she reached him, she raised her blade to stab him, and a beam of green energy shot between them, pushing both of them away from each other.
Haki ran to Akutenshi side, his green marking's glowing, his right paw raised towards her, and the rifle in his left. "Get up!" He shouted at Akutenshi. Akutenshi nodded as he stood up, the blurred vision clearing up, and saw her preparing to rush them again. Haki's right paw lowered, and reached for something attached to his belt. A hilt, he pulled on it and a blade began to form from the hilt outwards making a long sword. He handed it to Akutenshi who took it and nodded.
"We do this together." Akutenshi said. "Don't push to hard though."
Haki chuckled as Elena ran at them, screaming at them. Akutenshi stepped in front of Haki and blocked her blow with his blade, then elbowed her in the face. She backed away grunting and he stepped forward, and swung. She sidestepped and dodged it, bringing her blade up towards his chest which he successfully dodged. Suddenly, several plasma bolts shot by her head, she ducked and began moving to avoid the incoming shots from Haki's rifle. Akutenshi followed her, they exchanged blow after blow with her avoiding Haki's fire. After several minutes of playing this dancing game, she brought her blade to block one of Akutenshi's attacks, shoved him back, and ran towards Haki. She got within range and sliced at him. Haki yelled out in surprise, then pain, as the blow connected with his left paw, leaving a deep gash in it. He dropped the weapon and started to avoid her attacks. Akutenshi growled as he bolted towards her, and stepped in between the two. Akutenshi and Elena resumed their dance once more, but this time he had the upper hand. She was off balanced from his intervention, and he was able to stab into a soft spot in the armor between her shoulder and throat. She yelled out in anger as she punched him in the face. He grunted and fell backwards, pulling the blade out. She panted as she walked towards him, and swung. He blocked once more and kicked her right knee. There was a crunch of bone and she screamed out in pain falling sideways into the snow. Tears formed and she sobbed, her blade only a few feet away from her. She tried to crawl towards them when Akutenshi stepped on her throat. "You.....I am so sorry." He said, panting, trying to catch his breath. "No one ever deserves the fate you were handed." He could still feel the anger within him, but also felt sorrow for her. "As a Protector, I relieve you of this burden, of this curse."
Elena looked up at him, a half smile on her face, and she sighed. "Thank you." She muttered as Akutenshi raised his blade into the air, and brought it down on her chest. Blood pooled out beneath her, the white snow, several feet tall in this area, turning red. She gasped and he watched the life drain from her eyes. There was a monstrous roar from the Red Dragon, it sensed her death, and it was angered by it even more. It turned to charge Akutenshi but just as it began to charge towards him, the Red Wolf slammed it's jaw shut on the Dragon's throat. It pulled the both of them to the ground, wrapped itself around the Dragon, and exploded.
Akutenshi stood there, exhausted as the Red Wolf reformed and gently padded over to him. It was the same size of the Dragons, yet didn't seem so threatening. More something of beauty to Akutenshi. When it reached him, it touched it's nose to his forehead, gave a small huff, and vanished in a wave of embers. Akutenshi looked down at Elena's body, and saw it disintegrate into nothing leaving a small amount of blood soaked snow. He never thought he would see a Paladin, let alone have to kill one. His heart ached for her, during the battle he felt nothing but the need to eliminate her, but now, he couldn't help but wonder if there was another way the battle could have gone. He looked over at Haki who was nursing his wounded paw, walking over to Akutenshi. "You ok?" Akutenshi asked.
Haki nodded, "It's bad, but not as bad as it could have been." He told Akutenshi.
Akutenshi looked towards the Command Center of the base, and saw Colonel Talia standing at the edge of it, looking down at him. Half her uniform burned away, with the uncovered half of her body covered in acid burns. She gave him a weak smile as medical personnel rushed into the Command Center and grabbed hold her, and gently lowered her onto a stretcher they had. Behind the people, where the frozen and half melted bodies of almost the entire Command Center Staff. Akutenshi closed his eyes, and prayed for the dead. When he opened his eyes, the snow had seemed to stop, and sunlight broke through the clouds, several more strikes of lightning streaked across the sky, then stopped as the entire base was bathed with light. Akutenshi looked up at the sky, and remembered something Captain Scheck, his father, once told him when Akutenshi was younger. "Even in the darkest of times, there is always a ray of hope, seek it out, grab it, and never let go." He had told Akutenshi, and Akutenshi knew that the ray of sunshine that came through the darkened clouds, was his ray of hope, and knew that with the Elders now gone, that only left Sin, Everlont, Kai, and Admiral Whitcomb to deal with. They still had a long way to go. He wouldn't allow the deaths of so many to be in vain.
Location: Badlands, Leben
Sin could feel the destruction of the Elders and Elena, he knew that Akutenshi had succeeded in defeating them. He had warned Elena that Akutenshi was a dangerous man, that she wasn't fully prepared yet to take him on despite her years of experience. Kai sat on a rock next to Sin, an ant compared to the size of Sin himself, and yet still just as dangerous. Granted Everlont himself was a far greater threat with Rauh in charge of the body, but Sin knew full well he was more than capable of eliminating the pretender-god, despite having trouble. No matter, the Protector and his Keepers of Light will arrive at their destination soon enough, and the final game would commence.
Kai giggled to himself, and Sin looked at him, curious as to what was so funny. Kai looked up at Sin, a big grin on his muzzle, and Sin thought better of asking about anything to the Man. It was clear that his own mind was twisted to all nine hells and wondered what Everlont had done the man in his childhood. He huffed and stared back out over the barren lands, with a massive storm wall circling the Gothic like building he sat on that extended from the sky to the land and acted as a barrier for this great weapon. The one of which had initiated a Battle Among Gods to use for their own petty will. During those times, he was free, able to destroy all in his path thanks to Tiamut. Oh, he would be free once again to reign destruction once his debt to Rauh had been paid, and he would ensure that Rauh paid dearly for his own stupidity.
