PART EIGHTY THREE

"TORTERRA IS UNABLE TO BATTLE, THIS ROUND GOES TO THE CHALLANGER!"

T he woman's voice calls out gesturing towards Jacks side of the arena as the gym leader looked annoyed now as he glared at Jack from across the arena, his hand already reaching for another pokéball after which another blue flash of light signalled the release of yet another of his pokémon. Despite bulbous palm trees shaped body; the new opponent was as tall as it was round, it's three heads each boasting a different expression looked around the arena before all three sets of eyes settled upon Blaze upon which it let out a shrill in human shriek. It was a sound that pierced Jacks mind causing his mind to grow numb and fogged over, the psychic grass type pokémon began to pompously move across the dirty covered arena by swinging its massive form in a waddling like motion.

"That's it Eggy, stomp that oversized drumstick into the ground and I'll give you an extra pokéblock tonight!"

The man bellowed grinning a cruel vindictive smile across his features as the Exeggator's three head mouth parted, letting out another insane cacophony of sounds fused into one unnatural sound. Blazed turned her head slightly wondering why her trainer had yet to issue any commands to see the glazed appearance of his eye, spitting on the ground in disgust she mutters something about how she hated fighting psychic pokémon and their dishonourable mind tricks.

"Blaziken...Blaze....Ken...Blazi...Blaze?...Ken...Blaziken...Blaziken!" [Think you're so smart, don't you? Messing with my humans' head like that!]

She rumbled, her eyes narrowed as she her flames burst into life around her wrists and ankles, this was one the reasons Jack had them spar on against each other on their own so that they could should the need ever arise function automatously with out him. The rage she had sealed away began to seethe deep with in her very core, fuelling her fighting spirit diving before bursting free in a sudden tidal wave of raw savage hate, all aimed toward one point, her opponent. Letting rip with a bellowing screech like some might bird of prey, she launched into the fray her hands open ready to dig her talon tipped fingers into the exeggator's wooden flesh. Blaze wanted to make the pokémon bleed, to cry out in sheer agony with every rake of her claw like talons. Closing the gap flames began to lick around her fingers as she slashed at the psychic tree, the exeggator's multiple heads at the Blaziken each with a look of pain; confusion and annoyance as it tried to stomp on her with what passed as its massive feet. Charred claw marks where engraved across its front as Blaze avoided the counter strikes from her foe, there was no blood just sticky sap .

"BLAZI...KEN...KEN...BLAZIKEN!" _[BLEED YOU BASTASD BLEED!] _

She screamed pivoting on the spot as she delivers a spinning round house, fire forming into a ball as her kick makes contact with a blazing flash of flames as the hulking palm tree was knocked backwards a short distance. It's multiple sets of eyes blinked at Blaze comprehending what had just happened, not wishing to give the hulking brute a chance get any sort of momentum going. The Blaziken pressed the attack darting towards the exeggator as the gym leader calls out to his pokémon with a restrained exacerbated tone to his voice.

"DON'T JUST STAND THERE, ATTACK, USE POWER WHIP; GIGA DRAIN; PSYCHIC EVEN...JUST DO SOMETHING ALL READY!"

The large tree on legs eventually lashed out with it vines all curled around the other to form a thick tendril, whipping this large appendage in the air it brought it downwards only to hit the ground as Blaze leapt to one side as the impact threw up chunks of dirt into the air. Rolling to her feet to the side of her opponent she kicked down against the side of what she hopped was its knee with a sickening sound of cracking wood, with a roar of pain the exeggator came crashing down as all three mouths screeched out continuously while using its vines to cradle it injury.

"EXEGGATOR IS UNABLE TO BATTLE, THIS ROUND GOES TO THE CHALLENGER!"

The Assistant announces over her microphone further infuriating the gym leader, recalling his fallen pokémon, muttering something under his breath the man runs his hands over his last three pokéballs. Blaze though could not have cared less as she headed back over to Jack gently slapping his face to snap him back o his senses, she sighed softly as his eyes cleared.

"Wha...what?"

Jack began to ask only to have his friends' inhuman hand gently caress where she had just slapped in a tender motion, her words reaching his ears as she cooed softly to him.

"Blaziken...Blazi...Ken...ken....Blaziken...Blaziken...Blaz...Blazi...Ken." [It's okay, you where dazed, prepare yourself we have three more foes to defeat.]

It took a few seconds for the fog to fully clear from Jacks mind, by which time the Gym leader had all ready called out his next pokémon with a smugness playing across his face as what looked like an all most four foot brown log with limbs, it capered from one foot to the other as its branch like arms flapped about in its eagerness to get started.

"Careful it's a sudowoodo, your fire moves wont work on a rock type"

Jack blurted pausing as Blaze looked at him as if he was still dazed or something.

"I know, I know it looks like a tree but believe me it's not a grass type so your flames will have little effect on it"

Jack continued as quickly as he could, he knew fire type moves would be useless against this kind of opponent not to mention having such a hard body meant trying brute force something that would been completely useless on its own. He could use sky uppercut but if the sudowoodo might well hold out with its sturdy ability, leaving Blaze wide open for it to attack up close and personal.

"Sorry Blaze we need Bunny for this one"

He sighed, the blaziken squeezed her fists tight together but gave a slight nod putting her trust in her beloved trainer. There was a flash of red light as Blaze was drawn back into her pokéball while a flash of blue signalled the release of the rabbit pokémon, looking up at him she gives her trainer a slow meaningful wink that made him gulp deeply as she turns around giving him a little shake of her rear end.

"Lopunny...Lop...Unny...Pun...Pun, Lop...Punny...Lopunny!" [Hmnnn rock type from the smell of it, this one won't go down easy!]

Bunny mused; her eyes narrowed as the rock tree ran towards her in a comical fashion, lowering her stance she prepared to meet what ever attack it was going to throw at her. The closer it got the lower she drew to the ground until her digits pressed then dug into the dirt, her hind legs bunched up behind her ready to propel her in what ever direction she needed to go.

"ROCK THROW!"

The gym leader bellows from across the arena, hearing the command slithers of its own surface began to chip away form as it ran one of its odd hands across it other arm, shards of sharp fragmented stone shot forth as the rabbit pokémon was all ready speeding out of the way even as her train began to call out a warning. Some of the projectiles slashed harmlessly through Jacks jacket and the top of his cap, one though managed graze his left cheek drawing a fine crimson line. Bunny had not yet seen this as she focused more on avoiding the continued bombardment of stones being launched at her, the realisation only came to her when she zipped around behind her foe ready to launch her own attack. Bunny watched as blood trickling through his fingers as he held his cheek, baring her incisors the Lopunny felt a sense of outrage welling up.

"THE GYM LEADER WILL AVOID DIRECTLY HARMING THE CHALLANGER!"

The assistant called out, as though brushing the incident aside though Bunny could not help but wonder if it had been deliberate.

"MY APOLAGISES, SEEMS MY SUDOWOODO NEED TO WORK ON HER ACCURACY!"

The gym leader calls out with a shrug of his shoulders; his smug smile seeming to spread that much wider as he did so, this only rubbed Bunny up the wrong way.

"Focus Bunny!"

Jack called out applying pressure to his cheek, he could feel the stinging sensation, he could recall the words that he had been told back at the grass vale gym. A sense of heat began to well up as he forced himself to concentrate on the match and not at the man he was facing off against, taking a deep slow breath he let it out slowly using the breathing exercises Blaze would use to calm herself.

"DIG!"

Was he called out in a firm loud single word command; it was all she needed to hear as she dived down towards the ground her claw like fingers carving through the dirt of the arena floor, in no time flat she had submerged herself below the surface of the arena causing the smug grin on the man's face to vanish.

"USE ENDURE DAMN IT! HURRY BEFORE IT ATTACKS!"

The gym leader screamed at his sudowoodo, the rock pokémon frowned as it turned to face its trainer with a blank expression upon her face as if unable to understand why he was yelling at her. Jack gave a couple of stamps with his foot to signal his Lopunny, normally he would just let her do her thing but this was to good an opening to ignore. Easing down to a crouch he placed his hand against the ground feeling the rumbling vibrations he knew well to be Bunny burrowing away; he was sure she would not miss her target at least unless it moved. For a few brief moments he watched the sudowoodo praying to Arceus that it stayed on that spot, he could hear the gym leader screaming at the poor thing, confusing it as it tries to understand what was being demanded of it. Eventually it began headbutting the ground like one of those bobbing toy birds put on cocktail glasses, Jack wanted to call out to it; tell it to stop as it was only making it easier for Bunny to attack but instead, he stood up. Clenching his fists as he tensed up ready for the sudden explosion of dirt but even knowing it was coming, he still jumped when the rabbit pokémon erupted out of the ground and into the air as it half dragged the sudowoodo beneath the surface. Coming back down the Lopunny brought its foot down with a stomp on top of it stunned opponents head, the concussive force over whelming its brain causing her to pass out from the force of the blow.

"SUDOWOODO IS UNABLE TO BATTLE, THIS ROUND GOES TO THE CHALLANGER!"

Came the Assistants decision, the gym leader recalled his unconscious pokémon before furiously flinging the pokéball behind him. Grasping a hold of one the two remaining pokéballs the man letting out a short squat bipedal creature, long shaggy flowing mane, two pointy elven ears poked up through its wild unkept hair. Its long pointy nose aimed directly at Bunny as it glares at her with a focused stare, its attention fully upon the Lopunny while easing into a fighting stance.

"SHIFTRY BRUTAL SWING!"

The gym leader thunders before Jack could reach for Bunnys pokéball to call her back so he might call out Blaze, the Shiftry dashed forwards like a whirling dervish; its arms held out straight by its sides. By the time he had Bunnys ball in his hand she was already flying backwards out cold despite her attempts to avoid the attack.

"LOPUNNY IS UNABLE TO BATTLE, THIS ROUND GOES TO THE GYM LEADER!"

The woman's voice calls out as the gym leader grins his head off, a smug expression returning to his features while he puffed out his chest.
