Mafia 3 Lincoln Clay Epilogue Finished Business
I bought Mafia 3, new as the second game ever for my XBOX ONE and years later, I realized that the ending was open-ended, (I did the honorable thing and just left) and I wanted a definitive ending and to tell what happened to Lincoln after he left New Bordeaux, so I wrote my own epilogue and I hope you like it.

After leaving Sal Marcano's casino having snapped his neck, a move he learned thanks to his time with the Rangers, and leaving Vito Scaletta to run the city, some preacher is preaching from the speakers of the silver Toyota 2000GT Lincoln leaves in, but it's just background noise as Lincoln is in his own head, thinking about everything that happened and everything he's done...He drives to Father James' church, shaking hands with an ecstatic John Donovan after confirming Sal and his son Georgi's deaths. After a back and firth conversation, Lincoln respects Father James for everything he's done for him and the others running his church and the orphanage and everything he did for his country, that he makes the decision to leave for a better life...After driving back to his home to pick up his muscle car he stored while he was in Vietnam, he flies past the New Bordeaux city limit sign on his way to California and a new life, Otis Redding's "Sitting on the dock of the bay", is on the radio at medium volume coming out of the door speakers of his 1968 Ford Gran Torino fastback, it's gloss black paint shining in the afternoon sun. The 428 Cobra Jet V8-Having been stroked to 358 by Danny Burke while he was overseas, had a relaxed, throaty rumble, thanks to the new cam, intake, carb and headers, as Lincoln casually dipped the clutch and shifted the TopLoader 4 speed just cruising....
Fast forward to 1971 and Lincoln is working on a commercial fishing boat in California, until that rambling man urge kicks in and he's off again. He decides to travel the world and see a few states, sending post cards back to Father James....It's 1980 and Lincoln finds himself back in the South, after seeing all of the world be wants to see and finally comfortable in his own skin to settle down. He gets a job in Louisville Kentucky as one of the first black men to work at the Ford truck plant there, installing the hoods of the LN6000 dump trucks. In early February 2002, Lincoln goes back to New Bordeaux for Father James' retirement party..The 80 year old's eyes lit up when he saw the rugged, worldly, 57 year old former orphan and veteran. They shake hands, hug, and catch up wishing each other well. In 2009, Lincoln returns one last time for Father James' funeral, having been told by phone by the long retired CIA agent John Donovan. He and Donovan walk to Arlington national war cemetery and stare at Father James' white headstone. Engraved with a cross, underneath it read: Father James Ballard Third Platoon, Company C, of the 614th Tank Destroyer Battalion Age 87 1922-2009. Lincoln and Donovan shake, hug, and wish each other well, John goes back to retirement, fishing in Montana, and Lincoln goes back to Kentucky. A year later, in January of 2010, Lincoln himself retires with 30 years in at the old Louisville line. The 65 year old, continued to enjoy his Torino and continued to travel, he also enjoys shooting. He couldn't bring his 1911A1 he used in Vietnam, so he bought a Colt traditional series GI blued. Even at his age, he could still use the standard sights easily, proficiently putting 230 grain ball down range, placing all 7 shots in the 10 ring, 1.5" groups at 15 yards.
Lincoln enjoys 20 more healthy years of retirement until the winter of 2030 where the 85 year old is admitted to the VA Medical Center in Lexington, where he dies peacefully with John Donovan by his bedside of lung cancer and kidney failure. Linclin is buried in Arlington next to Father James, an identical white, marble stone inscribed with Linclin Clay 223 Infantry, 5th Special Forces aged: 85 1945-2030.
